Oof, this is embarrassing, I got this right as I was writing about a drugged character rambling about really random things.

1. this look

2. throwing a mug at dukat’s head. legend.

3. threatening to beat the shit out of garak if he messed with ziyal and then actually beating the shit out of damar when he messed with ziyal. i was, in general, so pleased with how kira held nothing at all against ziyal for who her father was, and instead took her in as a little sister and protected her. helped her enjoy the things her childhood may not have allowed her and arranged for her to be able to pursue her art on bajor.

4. kira: “i’m diplomatic!” *smash cut to her shouting at ambassadors*

5. i really, REALLY loved the moment early on in the series when sisko was very badly injured and kira stayed with him and told him a bajoran fairy tale to help keep him conscious

mmm yeah!! i would love for somebody else to finish all of my unfinished works on ao3 for sure. in terms of ds9 stuff (bc i know that’s where we overlap lmao), i would love to read a well-written niche kira-centric fic that delves into like bajoran culture and language on a really detailed level? like, it’s a whole planet!!! that’s SO much space for exploring linguistic and cultural diversity and history! i would love an exploration of bajoran languages and how they were impacted by cardassian languages (bc there’s diversity there too?) and just like ethnic differences and variation in religious practices and how the occupation conflicted with all of that and like revitalization efforts? and just like. kira’s positionality in all of it. i want to see her, after a lifetime of being forced to see her planet and her people only in the abstract, only from the vantage point of refugee camps and the dakhur hills, get to travel and discover and connect with bajor!! like idk maybe jadzia (bc she’s absolutely alive shut up) is like will you take me to bajor? and kira’s like. i can show u dakhur province? and dax is like of course i want to see that but i also want to see everything let’s take an around-the-world TRIP. so kira takes her down and they just engage with all of this together and are in love and it’s moving and hard and warm and lighthearted and deep and wow. like i said this is very niche and nerdy but dude i want it

oh, total gardener! the things i plan in detail are generally the things i never finish lol just because it starts feeling like a task and then my contrary brain goes whoopsies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i don’t like doing what i’m told even when i’m the one who tells me to lmao

Oh for sure. That’s why I directed the post to 18 years olds who have likely just finished with a horrible high school experience and think that the school systems are evil. It’s so disheartening to see that kind of negativity spread when I know how hard teachers are working right now especially

Nobody's really offered any so far, other than to tell me FFN screwed up my formatting (this is an unfortunately frequent occurence), but I guess I wouldn't be opposed to it as long as people are polite?

The ones where people mention specific things they liked about my work- it tells me what I'm doing right, and what to do more of.

The first one I attempted to write for was Harry Potter; that one never got finished. The first fic I published was for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, although I was also writing for Percy Jackson and the Olympians at the same time.

A. Ever tried to leave kudos twice?

Of course (doesn't everyone?), but I soon gave up when I realized it wouldn't let me. I leave them in the form of comments now, sometimes with little heart emojis. <3

A few informal ones as reddit comments, but not in a while. I used to have lots of fun with those.

Y. Any pet peeves that make you immediately back out of a fic?

This is a common one, but that Y/N format. Other than that I'll try most things, and I think the right writer can make nearly anything work. I used to really hate chat fics, for instance, but a few Marvel writers have changed my mind. I guess I avoid those ones where people get turned into kids, but that's less clicking out of and more just not clicking on in the first place, and there are exceptions when they have a really intriguing summary.

Okay, here we go. 

1) Pandora's Box (Good Omens, Aziraphale/Crowley, E): Written for the Good Omens Kinkmeme. Aziraphale has a secret box of terrible erotica, and Crowley finds it. It’s super stupid. Mildly cracky, even. But I had a huge amount of fun writing the terrible purple-prose-y erotica. Made me laugh, anyway.

2) Jerusalem (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Giles Gen, G): Written for Summer_of_giles 2018. Giles and his father talk about wishes. It was nice to explore the relationship between Giles and his father, and I’m really quite pleased with the way this came out in the end.  

3) A Matter of Habit (DS9, Garak/Bashir, E): Written for Multifandom Tropefest 2019. Julian Bashir travels back in time and meets newly minted Obsidian Order agent, Elim Garak. The first and only case fic I’ve ever written. It’s not perfect, but I’m really proud of it anyway. 

4) Roots (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gen, T): Giles’ time in England after Buffy’s resurrection. Plants and gardening are something I love. It was fun to write about Giles’ garden, and was a good opportunity to explore his relationship with his mother (and Buffy).   

5) The Storeroom (DS9, Garak/Bashir, E): Garak and Bashir get sex pollened in Garak’s shop. Garak proceeds to lock Bashir in his storeroom. Not the best fic I’ve ever written, but probably the most fun I’ve ever had writing. Sex pollen is best pollen.

@fromgallifreytogallitep I wanted to reply to your comment about Sid talking to Astro and I but it got too long for tumblr so I’m just gonna post it! I knew it would be totally fine to talk to him after listening to him comforting everyone last week, so I don’t quite know why I was so incredibly nervous, but I guess that’s what I get for my chronic anxiety. There was a moment or two at the beginning where I thought I was going to forget how to speak entirely. But...if you kinda stop thinking and let Sid happen...it gets a lot easier very quickly.

I keep thinking about what it feels like to talk to him and I keep coming back to...it’s like balancing on pillows. You’re probably gonna fall, in my case I’m likely to say something dumb, but Sid’s just...there. Ready to catch you. He was SO INVESTED in making sure that I knew it was okay if I couldn’t quite hold it together. Not like, to try and help me keep it together, which would have been kind enough, but to reassure me that I didn’t need to. Which sort of feels like being accepted on another level, somehow. I am out of words.

1. How has your day been?

Long. I have an awful toothache (I think from grinding my teeth honestly) and it's giving me a headache. My mom keeps coughing and it's making me anxious - I took her temperature yesterday and it was only 96.1 and she won't let me take it today. My sister says it's good she doesn't have a fever but also that the lack of fever doesn't rule out that it might be COVID. My mom snuck out to go vote on election day which, you know I approve of good citizenship but I'm worried. If she is sick I also don't want her to get my dad sick. We had a conversation about wills and other end of life documents the other day, which is important to have but it makes everything feel too real. I feel bad because I want to spend quality time with them while we can but any sound is making my teeth hurt more & I've been here 2 weeks now so my patience was already running thin so I'm getting snappy & immediately feeling guilty about it. On the other hand, I did end up driving to my apartment to get the laptop & was able to see my roommates. I loved the drive to my place, my neighborhood, the glimpses of my apartment through the windows so much. My roommates came out to meet me and I never wanted to hug someone more but we were good, kept 6ft apart. It was so good to see them, I felt more real than I have in days. It's good to know they're doing okay. I wish I could be with them too.

2. What is the last thing that made you smile?

Seeing my roommates, messages & mutuals on here, looking at dumb filters we used during video calls this week, you, friend, being clever & witty

3. What's keeping you entertained these days?

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, the DCU app (reading Justice League Dark, Super Sons, watching Harley Quinn & Doom Patrol), listening to the Poetry Unbound podcast & Our Fake History, reading Leaves of Grass and a bunch of classic fan fiction lol

4. If you are in some kind of quarantine/self isolation: is there anything you would like to achieve in this time?

Not really. I'm still working & have other stuff I need to get done. I do want to reach out and connect with people more. I really want to send letters but also idk if I should since that brings more potentially risky stuff into people's houses.

The first character I first fell in love with: Jadzia. My nerdy younger self was very jealous both of her brain and her confidence. Actually, I still am.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Garak. He's a spy with a disturbing past, and I never thought I'd like a guy who murdered people because he thinks "the-ends-justify-the-means." But it's Garak, and I can't not like him, although I really couldn't say why.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I guess I don't love Weyoun, but I don't really dislike him either. It's hard to pick someone to dislike on this show, except of course the ones we're supposed to hate.

The character I love that everyone else hates: I don't know of any widely-hated characters except Dukat and Kai Winn, who I of course don't like either (although they're fantastically written and acted- I very genuinely hate their guts, as I should). I guess people find Julian annoying, and I adore him for all the reasons so many people don't- he's awkward and he rambles and sticks his foot in his mouth.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I have nothing for this because I still love them all.

The character I would totally smooch: Do I have to? That weirds me out. I guess Jadzia, just because she's chill and wouldn't make a big deal out of it. But only platonically on the cheek.

The character I’d want to be like: Jadzia, no question. She has 8 lifetimes worth of skills, she's a genius, and she's extremely fun and confident. I also love how comfortable she is being in different cultures- the Klingons, the Ferengi, etc. She accepts them exactly as they are and learns to play by their rules.

The character I’d slap: Dukat, duh.

A pairing that I love: Do you even need to ask? Garashir.

A pairing that I despise: Anything with Dukat in it, especially Dukat/Kira. Yikes. He's a war criminal, and she spent years trying to survive by killing people like him. Dukat is a creep and Kira deserves better.
