Someone lunches at him before the door is fully open. It takes him two seconds to come to his senses “What the hell are you doing?” He pushes Max off. 

Max can’t even look him in the eyes as he tries to take residency in his neck. He’s not even kissing him, he just rests his cheek on his shoulders. “Please Charles” He can feel the vulnerability in the ghost that caresses his neck. He lets out a grunt. If there is one person who’ll know how to render him weak, it’s Max. 

He clears his throat pushing softly. “Max” With less hostility in his voice, he makes sure the warning is clear.  Max regards him, but he just focuses on concealing his emotions. Charles’ windows are closed, his eyes are nothing but a vessel for Max to see himself without the footnotes of Charles' emotions.“Okay” Max puts his hands on his hips.  “yeah, okay” He waits patiently for an explanation, hands crossed. Max looks away “I-” “Well I-” 

“Are you still with her?” Charles is baffled by what he’s hearing. “Are you drunk?” He spits in disdain. He can only imagine how blinding the disgust in his eyes is. He can’t come up with any other explanation. “And you” he’s crumbling “need me?” brick by brick. 

Max swallows.Charles hates himself and his stupid attentive nature. “I didn't see her in the paddock '' Max ignores him, godforbid he breaks the pattern of his selfishness.  The observation doesn't come out as nonchalant as the blond thinks. Charles lets out a humorless laugh but  all he hears is a sob.

“You didn't answer my question” “Like you’ve answered any of mine!” He roars. He feels like a lion, ready to hunt a lamb- a lamb who faces him head on, oblivious to the dangerous animal his taunting. Max's eyes are dilated this close. Even in the despair of his emotions, he can’t do anything about his magnetism towards Max, it’s unconscious how easy and arbitrary, how nonexistent their personal space has become.

 “You can’t do this to me” Max tone is confident. Like he really believes what he's saying “Look who’s talking” He grits his teeth. 

Max eyes are shining. “You’re the one who can’t do this to me. What could you possibly want, what could you possibly take from me that you don’t already have? That you haven’t already stolen?” In the haze of his anger, he swears Max looks calmer. “I’m not here to take anything from you” the softness in his voice just adds fuel to the fire.

“Of course you don’t.” He sneers at Max's ignorance. 

“You have so much of me” He’s right under Max’s nose “I'm indebted to myself.” He feels the sigh like a breeze in winter, even if you're already cold, you shiver.

“Marc” Oh. He closes his eyes, turning around before Max can see what he’s just done.  His spine is nothing more than a wire of electricity. “No” He keeps his back to Max. That naive boy doesn't exist anymore.

“Please..” the sense of mercy he feels is agonizing. He’s not strong enough. He’s never been strong or enough when it comes to Max.

“I said no Max Em-” fuck him and his stupid history and his stupid will to always fall. To always allow Max to do this to him. “Your drunk and tomorrow you’ll-”

“The only influence I'm under is you. The burn on my throat whenever I swallow my feelings is the only thing that burns ” Max's rough timber makes sure his senses pay attention, reminding him of who they obey as Charles lets out a sob.

“I’m here because there is nowhere else I want to be, even when I'm not with you, you are with me Charles, I run on the beach and I stop in front of your apartment, because I've counted a basilion times how many steps i have to take to reach it. In the morning between lifting my cup of coffee and taking a sip the memory of your stupid judgment of how I actually like my coffee black is disgusting to you, I can’t see my fucking face blush because it reminds me of the obnoxious color of your car, about how hot it makes you look, how it’s your favorite color, and not because you love ferrari but because you first saw it on me, and you love me”

“You are the pinnacle of everything, I am Charles. There's not a single breath I take where your scent isn’t lingering. I might have taken everything from you and I'm not sorry, because I'm selfish and if anyone will drain you it will be me. I want your smiles and laughter just as I want to be the one to remind you that we make sense. Charles, love is in the crevices between feeling and repressing. You can pinpoint exactly how and why I hurt you because I can tell you exactly how I've made you feel loved and happy. You can tell all of my flaws and make me feel inferior because no one has seen me, all of me and embraced it but you.”

“I love you Charles, I always have and no, this not a cliche fucking line. I’ve known my feelings before I knew the implications that came with it. It never was a burden or shameful thing because I need oxygen to breathe and I love you. And these are simple things but without them I would not be here. I need you to be.”
