"But Odysseus' jetpack" The serious part of Epic the Musical and the one that is up for debate and criticism is the songs. Not the animations. I didn't think that needed explaining.
#epic the musical#I'm actually not sure I need to say something but that's never stopped me before#yes the creator collaborates with the animators but that doesn't mean anything to me aside from the fact that they respect his wishes#and if he wants every saga to have a boss battle video game style then I don't have to treat that seriously nor should I#if one day it is turned to an actual musical or has a serious animatics production then yes those would be up for critic#but I do wonder why people are so hellbent on not having fun nowadays#signed: a greek#because if one of y'all comes to me with how he should respect the odyssey then that could turn into a thesis#and I cannot stress enough how much I don't have the time for this at this moment lol#so yes be aware that I'd be one of the first to have an issue if there was an issue to be had#also reminder that the odyssey's genre (aside from epic) is and always will be fantasy because there are gods in the story#you can't be okay with odysseus actually holding a bag of winds and then draw the line at using them to fight poseidon the way he sees fit

procrastination is starting to have its consequences finally
#on my friends living room floor they love together but one of them has been london for weeks or maybe months#to be with her love. im on a foam mattress from one of their beds next to a glass bottle of water opened by one of them#in a mug given to me by another. the weather felt like my childhood today and it also felt like 2 years ago.#(put space in the heavens Einstein's idea and hes your friend too so nothing to fear) around the table they drank and laughed and i thought#i hope you keep growing so full with the love you receive . i hope your appetite becomes insatiable from how used to it you are#and i know youre all leaving soon but i hope one day you miss this and that youll be happy you miss it#its worth missing i think#i thought he didnt care but he said after exams hes going walk around this area over and over#(this is near where he lived and where we visited almost daily for a year)#(hed come across the bridge on a lake)#we went where she used to live and at the entrance a fox sat calmly. it just yawned and stared.#it felt important somehow. i think maybe their impressions of me will never be close to how i feel inside but i think#i love them enough for that not to matter. i dont think theyll ever know this. i dont think if they did it would change much.#and seeing them smile makes my heart glow anyway. today i tried their malaysian tea the ginger burned my throat#they warmed my heart. hes going to canada soon and hes going to the US soon and shes going everywhere soon ill never understand#how were supposed to live with memories and with seperation and with the past but we do it anyway so i think it doesnt matter much#i wanted to write a poem for the lab rats with the fibre optic wires lit with blue forcing them to turn around and around#something about how im sorry that the two photon arrays burned the inside of your brain. im sorry about the sharp points of multielectrode#arrayes. im sorry about everything we do to you. she asked to see me tomorrow. im trying to have self control but i miss her so awfully#last night my friend talked to me and i updated on everything that happened with love and the lack of it and she just started laughing#and she told me about the same thing from her side. and she told me about how she loved london because she would walk the streets#and she felt like the people were her. and her eyes would go over the people and the bag of bagels and the construction men they probably#have a kid at home maybe shes a daughter. this kid is crying for her mother and the building you just walked past caused#blisters and pain and people died in it and very likely people were born in it. we talked for hours and i felt like#i was holding her hand just like that time she held mine watching a horror film. i love her so much#my friend is a genius and i remember her picking up the charms of my phone and staring at the leaf hanging from them. shes side stepping to#music drinking dangerous cider and cocktails from a movie and chit chatting with billionaires and undergrads#i love her dearly. his head covered in electrodes. she tells me about a syrian guy shes in love with and she says#what you feel and what i feel is like cocaine. ive tried a lot of fucking cocaine.#she says ive reminded her of what living actually feels like and to never put energy into someone who doesnt see me this way.

#I think in general ppl on here need to chill out about hownother ppl clean themselves#sanitation on this level isn't a moral issue#im not just saying that bc I voted yes IM NOT#but fr assumptions about 'grossness' don't come from or exist in a vaccuum and it's really worth it to examine what your biases are#around cleanliness and if someone fails i. cleanliness 1#1. why that's such an issue to you 2. if they actually deserve to be punished for it and 3. how these punishments are inflicted itl#irl* i.e. on disabled ppl mentally ill ppl homeless people etc.#being 'unsanitary' doesn't make someone subhuman#and there are clearly differing standards that ppl hold themselves to depending on a whole host of factors#so obviously everyone is going to defend their stance but like. can we calm down.#unless its a genuine public health hazard which this clearly is not#or even PERCEPTION of grossness ornbeing unsanitary. ppl with feeding tubes and external bladders#bladder bags exist and are around in public and there's so much shame and stigma associated w them#ppl have got to get more comfortable with other ppl existing in ways that dont fit a certain mold ffs#cor.txt

I've actually had a really good day today for a change
#while me and my friends were walking to the bus stop we found a shopping trolley#and used it to carry our bags the reat of the way there#people were looking at us like we were insane#cant imagine why#moving on#after school the trolley was still at the bus stop 🥳🥳 so we used it to carry our bags again#when i got home my sisters friends were over and i had to go with them to coles (theyre all like 10)#my friend wanted to come so i met up with her and she came to coles with us#my sister + co started running away from me and my friend so we had to chose then around the store (we got yelled at multiple times)#i saw a guy from my primary school there#it was very awkward (he stared at me while i ran past him)#then we went to the store across the road and me and my friend has to chase sister+co around there too#then we went to the park#sister+co started plotting something#then one of my sister's friends started taking photos of me and my friend to make shitty memes#then me+friend started walking away and sister+co went down to the river (the park is directly next to a river)#then when sister+co weren't looking me+friend grabbed their bag of snacks and ran#they saw us tho :( then they chased us#but we got away#until we didn't#my sister started screaming at me so i dropped the bag and ran but she followed me#sister was holding a half full bottle of coke (coca cola not cocaine) and she started walking menacingly towards me and i was backing away#from her#but then she threw the coke all over me :((#then me+friend walked back home after yelling at sister+co#...#so#that was my day#idkwhattoputhere123

didn't want to put this rant in the tags of that last post but honestly i feel like a lot of people hate toshiro disproportionately compared to what he actually did in-story. and if we're being real it's most likely because of racism
#xyx.txt#because so much of his misunderstanding of laios comes from a cultural angle#and because his mannerisms are strongly coded as japanese especially relative to the other characters in the story#i think a lot of people's implicit biases have them reading this as an inherent and unchangeable aspect of his being#rather than being just one aspect of him that originates from a particular context and is fully changeable#like any other trait on anyone else.#part of this is just because of the fact that the story is told from laios and his party's perspective#but i think a lot of people's perspectives on him are probably informed by racism#not all east asians are quiet and polite. i know this myself as a kind of loud and awkward and easily excited east asian person myself#but generally cultural mannerisms from east asia tend to be more subdued overall than western ones#so it's. not uncommon. for western people to read east asians as being rude or cold or aloof just for behaving like this#the 'oriental inscrutability' moment...#like he doesn't need to 'get rid of the stick up his ass'. he just needs to not put such heavy expectations on other people#but yeah i think a lot of people are way more unsympathetic to him than they would have been if he were not so distinctly asian-coded#which is ironic! a lot of people being really mad at him for ableism specifically in the social expectations he holds of others#while applying the same kind of judgment to him but through the perspective of race instead of neurodivergence. suspicious.#blah blah blah it's because he's 'neurotypical' or whatever#predicting how some of you people would behave toward neurodivergent asian people and the outlook isn't good#also if we're on the subject of microaggressions.#laios repeatedly and insistently calling him 'shuro' to the point that everyone else calls him that too#that's not 'funny autism bad with names' moment that's a racist microaggression#someone misnaming me because of my distinctly ethnic/foreign-sounding name doesn't automatically become funny and relatable#just because you're neurodivergent lol#can we maybe have more empathy toward characters and people of color in fandom#instead of always using them as punching bag side character trope#thanks.

That was an eventful two days
#I had a better time at the Waterparks concert#Noah was great#buuuut#I was on the barricade#I had my cousin hold onto my spot while I grabbed some merch and he didn’t hold onto the barricade so when I got back there were like three#rows of people in front of me#tall people too#and I got a ticket for my friend who wound not being able to go#and my brother who took us didn’t wanna go so I completely wasted $25 on a ticket#and it just Sucks that I spent so much money on ticket and got there super early just to be shoved way back when I LITERALLY had the front#there was this rude entitled lady who made everyone move for her son#he only knew tx2 but stayed up front the whole time#(she also took a spot right on the barricade too)#I was just really upset about how it didn’t go according to my plan and I kind of had a panic attack. like. a really fucking long one#and I had my vip bag + merch with me and everyone was stepping on it (no one was even playing?) and they fucked up my poster#but yeah I pretty much had a 2 hour long panic attack my ribs hurt now from hyperventilating (leaving the pit wouldn’t have helped)#the vip part was still good#I met Noah again he remembered me he did great it was just the people around me#oh I also like fucked up my knee#but that’s cause two concerts in a row hurt I think someone kinda accidentally kicked in a mosh pit and the first venue the ground had a#slight tilt to it. so it was kinda uncomfortable after a few hours#Waterparks#noahfinnce#concert#tx2#music

one thing i will say, it is fun getting to play another character who's more sympathetic to/somewhat believes in the chantry. 8 million years playing a dalish elf has conditioned me to the same exact relationship building every single time, but inesca is:
neutral on templars, or at the very least believes they're good/bad on a case by case basis, and have good intentions as an institution
raised andrastian, and is bone-deep terrified at the idea that after rejecting andrastianism in favor of joining a dalish clan and learning about the evanuris, he's being pushed back into a faith that he's publicly disavowed, but privately has no clue as to what is true/correct.
extremely sheltered from most politics, and thus intensely interested in anyone who's willing to share their experience-based opinion with him, regardless of what that opinion is.
#inesca is essentially a guy who's angry at everyone and everything but believes that love will resolve all the problems in the world#and so he puts on an incredibly tolerant/forgiving persona that borders on the naive#and is both cognizant and selectively in denial at just how much of a persona it is#so he's coming at every single problem with an altruistic 'how can i help' attitude#and stubbornly choosing to take people at face value when they offer him advice (regardless of what he thinks of them/that advice)#because that's How He Was Raised#and while he might. say. actually despise the templars and everything they've ever done for PERSONAL reasons#he's incapable of separating the personal from the objective systemic criticisms he also holds#and so he essentially throws the whole bag out and. again. accepts them at face value as an institution to be trusted to do good#and then he just walks around the entire time going huh. why do i keep passively thinking about what it would feel like to get devoured#by the rift in my hand and die in excruciating yet likely extremely cathartic pain.#inesca lavellan

Having heard the nervousness in her husband's voice at even just the idea, Josephine reached over to squeeze his hand, assuring him, "I wouldn't let it eat you, Auggie, don't worry-not even a nibble."
"Thank you, Josie," he replied appreciatively, flashing her a shy, boyish smile (a smile he had unknowingly passed on to his grandson) as he squeezed her hand back, a sight that made the Pace brothers smile wistfully-for as much fun as they'd had at Gracey Manor, reuniting with Wilhelm, meeting their sister-in-law and their extended family, it was clear that they missed their wives and children back home in Ireland, lending a bittersweetness to the air as they sipped their stouts.
Neither Lon nor Erika missed this bittersweetness, with the latter venturing to ask, in a soft, shy voice, "Uncle Colin, Uncle Callahan...will you come back for Thanksgiving?"
"And Christmas? And New Years too?" Lon added, both of them looking at their uncles with wide, expectant eyes, looks that made the elder Pace twins chuckle as Colin assured them, "We certainly will-we'll talk it over with your aunties and cousins, and see about all of us making a trip back. It'd mean a lot for all of us to spend the holidays together-it's been too long since we celebrated with our little brother, and having everyone here...well, that makes it even more special."
"And even when we go home-and we will have to go home eventually; we can't shirk our duties at the farm forever," Callahan continued, resting a comforting hand on his young nephew's shoulder. "We'll make sure to keep plenty in touch-we'll regularly give everyone a ring, and send cards and letters too, between our visits. Trust us, lad-even when we're halfway 'round the world, it sure won't feel like it, I promise.
And besides, if there's a holiday we don't want to miss celebrating here with you, it's Saint Paddy's Day!" he added with a grin, a grin that got both Lon and Erika to brighten up a little, taking solace in the notion that it wouldn't be long before they saw one another again. "We hear tell that's your mama's birthday to boot, so we'll be sure to be here-it's gonna be a real special one!"

#eating pine branches at grandmas.#lived next door.#renting.#pine branches were really tasty and chewy like ... soupy tootsie rolls?#tried to sneak up on sister#while holding a plastic bag#found. she thought i was soemthing worse. also had been followed by crows for awhile#went back home. grandparents mom and uncles gave me 21 cents and advice on how to have a good birthday on the dime#played sonic the hedgehog with mom except ive never played sonic before in my life so it definitely wasnt that#more like animal crossing with an explore / battle mode?#and you could only pick from 3 characters#mom played with me. i was surprised.#. next dream#exploring a minecraft like world. big mansion#somehow end up in hell#i fall down and loose my exit. have to fight invisible ghasts and monsters until i can explore and find a way back#find a way back. no tools. hard to find resources to make a pickaxe in this mansion.#im with a bunch of people and mocked for not being able to find twigs#someone destroys a chair and hands me a bundle of twigs#i know the next step is to go punch a tree but all the trees growing here are pretty and i dont want to#later theres some ceremony. funeral maybe but with more religious undertones?#i have to wear a dress#and am handed heavy dangly earrings to wear#after i mourn and gather myself. some sort of special symbolism.#i take longer to mourn than the crowd of others would like#wearing the earrings themselves feels like tremendous grief to me. the weight of doing something I Am Not.#then they ask me to put on eyeshadow too#all of this in a very feminine way mind you#i tear tf out of there and flee#i run into more people in the hallway. somehow this place ends up being the church i grew up in

#i forget if i said but Baby Sister and i stopped off at ikea on the way back from picking her up at the bus stop on monday#and finally replaced the ruined-by-a-succession-of-cats-(in-ways-both-unsightly-and-gross) Accent Chair in the living room#with a poäng rocker (bc the shape is a little more interesting and less instantly recognizable than the regular chair) in birch (my beloved#also they make fancy tufted cushions for it now! wish they came in more colors but it's a real improvement on sad options past#and anyway it's like. now you can actually sit here in the morning and look out the window at the extremely beautiful view#and the chair actually supports you??? like i could see down the road trying to work out some kind of custom cushioning that's thicker#but the shape of the frame is so ergonomic for me that it's genuinely quite comfortable regardless. bentwood exocorset…#anyway. not a very original post but i just DO really love ikea#like yes it's a mixed bag but also honestly if you're buying particle board—#(i was going to say 'and expecting it to hold up' but. honestly i think it's just. if you're buying particle board period)#—that might be on you.#(like. if you're being pressed in from all sides by budget constraints and immediate need and no accessible better-made used alternatives—#obviously you do what you have to. but it's like buying pleather—you know‚ or should‚ that the material is going to disintegrate.)#but the things ikea makes with decent materials are remarkably well-designed and affordable for what they are‚ has been my sense?#you just gotta shop carefully but like. that's true literally everywhere.#anyway. in conclusion i love my new buddy with its clean lines. …do people name chairs ever.#i've never before had the urge but this one feels like a little assembly-line friend that deserves its own identity. like a star wars clone#(lol what if i gave it a little nametag somewhere hidden. secret identity talisman 4 chairpal.)#(& yes i promise i'm as aware of the‚ uh‚ itself-ness of this tag spiral as you are. :) )#domesticities
