If Vic and Sy teamed up in the name of 'I'd do anything for my friends' against Lord of Loss and Frey as team 'I'd do anything for my cause', is either pair better off? Assuming they clash heads

I feel like Lord of Loss doesn't really fit into "I'd do anything for a cause", because he doesn't really have a cause. He's a mercenary who's only loyalty is to his reputation. So he'd barely butt heads with Frey, barring potential murder (since that seems to be a line he won't cross).

Vic and Sy together is a dumpster fire.

There would be no trust, because their methods of bonding are antithetical to their traumas and culture. Any attempt at Vic to role with the jokes or show tenderness to Sy is going to be rebuked, and Sy's plans and plots will be hampered accidentally or purposely by Vic's morality.

I think the only way Vic could win the trust of Sy is if he sees her doing something like what she did with the Navigators and crippled Heartbroken. The only way Sy could earn her trust is... actually I don't know how. Maybe sincerely listen to her points?

Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers! (RIP to a show that had such potential and then turned into a spiraling pile of garbage)

Brunches with Frank, Karen, Billy, and Curtis were always the highlight of your week. Especially because after brunch, you and Billy would go back to his place and watch Game of Thrones until one of you (usually you) started kissing on the other and then… well, the show would have to get paused for a while. It was taking you a long time to get through it, to be honest—not that you minded.

You were almost finished with season two, and you were the last of your friend group to watch it. Things between you and Billy were… in limbo. You weren’t officially dating, but you weren’t seeing anyone else, and you knew Billy wasn’t either. Karen joked that your one-year anniversary would come and go before you admitted you were in a relationship with Billy, but she was wrong. It wasn’t about being in denial; it was about being realistic.

Billy was into you, but only as a friend. Yeah, the two of you slept together but… he wasn’t emotionally invested in you. It was a fling. And while you knew you had feelings for him, you also knew Billy wasn’t the monogamous type, so you would just take what you could get from him.

Currently, Billy had his arm on the back of your chair. The two of you were sharing a meal, and you were sipping a mimosa while Karen and Frank shared knowing looks that you were certain were about you and Billy.

“So, who do you think is gonna be on the Iron Throne by the end of it all?” Curtis asked, leaning back in his chair. “My money is on Khaleesi.”

“Bullshit,” Frank said, waving his hand in the air, “It’s gonna be the Stark sisters; Arya as the Hand of the Queen and Sansa running shit.”

“I think it’s going to be Daenerys,” Karen answered, “It’s hers by rights.”

“Nah,” Billy shook his head, “She ain’t ready.”

“It’s gonna be Robb,” you said, “Sansa is going to be his Hand of the King, her or Tyrion…”

“Oh, you sweet summer child,” Karen cooed.

“He is!” You argued. “Who else has the political background and time on the field and heart that Robb has? He’s the best choice!”

“Yeah,” Curtis took a drink, trying not to spoil it for you, “that’s true…”

“…Plus he’s hot,” you added.

Billy frowned down at you.

“Oh yeah,” Karen nodded eagerly, “Richard Madden is just…” She sighed. “So dreamy.”

“Dreamy? Really?” Frank grunted. “In what way?”

“In what way?” You said back. “Oh, Frankie, it’ll be easier to tell you ways he isn’t dreamy than to tell you how he is.”

“He’s gorgeous,” Karen began.

“His eyes,” you added.

“His smile,” Karen said.

“His body—”

“His head on a stake after the Freys murder him,” Billy deadpanned.

“WHAT?!” Your eyes were wide, and Billy pulled back from you.

“Shit,” he muttered.

“Billy!” Karen cried.

“Damn, Bill,” Frank murmured.

“Spoiler alert, man! Damn,” Curtis shook his head, “Sorry, Y/N…”

“Robb dies?!” You asked, jaw dropping. “Wait—who are the Freys? Wait—he’d decapitated?!”

“The Starks love a good beheading…” Frank said, shrugging one-shoulder.

“Oh man, how are you gonna make this up to her?” Curtis asked as you sat there gaping like a fish.

“Hey, come on, Y/N, I’m sorry,” Billy said, ignoring everyone else.

“I can’t believe it—I’m so sad!”

“We were like, two episodes away from his death—”

“—nooooo!” You shrank back from him, your eyes still wide. “You know Robb is my favorite character!”

“Cause he’s so dreamy,” he said, his voice just above a growl.

“No, because he was the fucking King of the North!” You shot back. “I can’t believe he dies! I can’t believe you ruined the surprise for me!”

“There’s still so many things that happen,” Karen intervened, “you’re gonna be so surprised at all the twists and turns.”

“Yeah,” Billy agreed, “we haven’t even got to the best parts yet…”

“You still want to watch it?” You asked, frowning.

“Hell yeah,” he answered, putting his arm over the back of your chair again, “I love our GOT dates.”

Dates? You bit your lip, trying not to smile. Oh. Cool.

The waitress brought another round of mimosas to the table, handing them out to each of you.

“To Russo spoiling his girlfriend’s favorite TV show!” Curtis cheered.

“To Russo!” Karen and Frank echoed, clinking their classes together.

You toasted with them, watching Billy to see if he was annoyed or irritated that they’d called you his girlfriend… He didn’t seem to mind. He leaned closer to you, pressing a kiss to the side of your face—a surprisingly openly affectionate gesture.

“I promise I’ll make this up to you later,” he whispered before straightening up.

You bit your lip. You were still disappointed by the spoiler, but there was something you wanted to test out, too. Something that, if you were right, would easily overpower the disappointment. “You know,” you whispered back, “some people’s boyfriends give them flowers or puppies, but mine just dishes out spoilers…”

He laughed, and that one, simple sound immediately put you at ease. “I told you,” he repeated, “I’ll make it up to you. I got plans…” He leaned closer to you again, his dark eyes gleaming. “…Gonna make you see that what you got is worth 100 Robb Starks…”

Now you laughed, heart full. Your boyfriend may spoil TV shows for you, and he may get irrationally jealous of fictional characters, but he was exactly what you wanted in a man.

Besides, you could be a little tactless, too. Karen had been right in her teasing about you not knowing about your one-year anniversary; you had no idea that you and Billy had even been dating, so when your anniversary came, it was a surprise to you.

Billy was cool with it, though. He laughed at your confusion, and the two of you spent the majority of the evening mapping out your relationship and debating when the two of you actually became a real couple. The rest of the night, you spent doing…other things…

(And no, watching Game of Thrones was not among them.)

Addam Marbrand to play a more important role in the books?

I’m sure I can’t be the only one thinking about this. Addam has always been the sort of a character that is there but not actually there, if this makes any sense. But he’s an important side character that we aren’t really shown too much about. There are things told about him by other people and he’s always there by the sidelines, but still, he’s a pretty badass guy who deserves to have a bigger role and I think George knows that very well and that that’s exactly what he plans on doing with him. Here’s why:

- Addam is literally Jaime’s only friend. They’ve known eachother since childhood, grew up together. Jaime trusted Addam as much as he can trust anyone. Everyone knows the kind of character Jaime is, so Addam being someone important in Jaime’s life is pretty special and right away makes him a character worth paying attention to. Being Jaime’s friend is a rare thing. 

- Addam’s location at the moment in the books, which I think George is doing something with. So, a lot of people are speculating there is to be another Red Wedding aka Lady Stoneheart’s revenge. Daven Lannister getting married to a Frey girl is probably happening in WoW, although not really confirmed where, there’s a speculation it’s either Twins or Riverrun. Pretty much a possible target for LS and BWB. Addam is sent after the Blackfish and isn’t going to be anywhere near any possible massacre, which can be read as George actually leading him away from danger and into logical safety. He’s also not with Jaime when he follows Brienne into a possible trap. So I think Addam is being saved on purpose.

- Possible role in Jaime and Brienne’s confrontation with LS. I’m probably reaching here, but still can’t help but think about it, specially considering Jaime’s friendship with Addam. We’re given a glimpse that Jaime is actually seen following Brienne, meaning he left with her into a probable LS/BWB trap. Now, why do I think Addam might have some role in this confrontation? Let’s recall that Addam is actually the first one Jaime asked for help in training with his left hand, because he trusted him. But, he later changed his mind and went for Ilyn Payne since he can’t speak to anyone about it, having doubts about Addam accidentally letting slip Jaime’s weakness. Now, I’m pretty sure Addam knows this, and has actually read what Jaime’s doing and he still didn’t tell anyone. What I think is that he may actually send someone, or go by himself after Jaime and Breinne when and if he finds out about this. I mean, Jaime is his commander, which means he pretty much has to know where he is. These two men have known eachother since they were boys, and Addam is Jaime’s most trusted commander and friend, just like I said, so he would probably find it weird that Jaime decided to go and follow a woman he himself doesn’t know about, that he would go alone with her to an unknown direction. I mean, he didn’t trust his childhood friend and now he blindly follows a woman somewhere unknown. That should sound weird from a position of someone like Addam inside the story. Even though they went to different directions, this can still be a possibility. So maybe Addam is the one to save these two from their dumpster fire brains, suicidal hearts and stupid decisions. I sure would like to see that.

- “Lord Tywin’s most trusted commander”. This is one of the lines that described Addam in the books. He’s talked about like he’s this pretty super and incredible military leader and badass knight and a lot of people are intrigued about it and want to find out more, not just the stories told, because GRRM taught us that what we’re told about a character can be pretty different from truly knowing them. We’re told pretty badass things about Jaime before his POW chapters, even by his enemies who couldn’t help but admire him even hating him, so I truly believe Addam would be a great character too. 

- And finally a bit of lore. The Marbrand house sigil - A burning tree. It’s just something that came to my mind and somehow I keep thinking about it. How does a weirwood tree look like? Yeah, its leaves are red aka it looks like it’s burning. While most of other houses have sigils that can easily be explained, either animals or plants and flowers or something else boring and plain. On the other hand, I don’t think anyone can actually put a finger on what The Burning Tree of House Marbrand means. In the history of ASoIaF world, we had the First Men burning weirwood trees, but something about this can be a possibility in the future not just in lore. So I think that’s gotta mean something. I’m not gonna go as far as talk about what actual burning tree mean in our world and religion, but who knows, Martin can write crazy shit.

My mom and sister are arguing if Jaime is headed to help Cersei or stop her. My mom has used the sentence “He loves Brienne; he just thinks he’s too much of a human dumpster fire to deserve her.”

My dad has perfected his impersonation of Tormund’s/Kristofer Hivju’s “Heh-heh” laugh and it’s freaking eerie.

I have to fight everyone who says Arya doesn’t love Gendry.

My brother keeps saying it’s crap that poor Pod is still not a knight.

My dad says Bronn should get the Twins and just party with Edmure/Roslin and all the Frey girls. 😂 

My brother and I are trying to explain how the Starks are symbolized by their direwolves so Jon forcibly distancing himself from Ghost means he’s trying to let go of his Starkness/the North.  

I’m hoping we’ll be able to talk like this about Stranger Things after this show is over because that’s literally the only other thing we all have in common.
