i have not. @insecuregodcomplex actually recommended that one to me too, it's on the list. I looked through klunes other titles and landed on wolfsong, which sounds heartbreaking, but also with an air of mystery and re-connections to it. so that's on the way.

Several Sentence Sunday

I haven't written a single words in two weeks now. I'm blocked and my motivation has flown the coop. Also, despite actively posting a fic that's doing surprisingly well, my RSD and depression have convinced me that nobody would care if I never wrote another word. So, my brain is pudding and my heart is hurting. I started this fic a few weeks ago and hopefully someday I'll finish it.

“Hm. Alex pours the coffee grinds into his French press. “I’d offer you some coffee, but–” “I’m really more of a tea drinker,” Henry says and Alex startles when his voice is much closer. He turns to see Henry standing a couple of feet away. “Well... I was.” “I love coffee, but it would definitely be more efficient to inject the caffeine straight into my veins.” The kettle starts bubbling and he turns back to pour the water over the grounds. “I’m surprised to see you taking the time to do all this, then. Seems a bit fussy.” “That’s what I like about it,” Alex explains as he wipes out his hand grinder and gets out his mug and cinnamon shaker. “It slows me down, gives me something to get up and do in the morning besides flipping a switch and scrolling my phone. Plus, the coffee is amazing. First cup of the day should be, ya know? I’ll be drinking break room garbage at work all day.” “I wish I could smell it.” “You can’t?” Alex is surprised to find Henry leaning over his shoulder. If Henry was alive, Alex could feel his breath on his face.  “No,” Henry sighs. “What I wouldn’t give for a nice cup of Earl Grey.” “Sorry. All I’ve got’s coffee. It’s locally roasted.” Alex shrugs and turns to press the plunger down.  “No sugar?” Henry asks as Alex fixes his mug. “Not in this. Just a dash of cinnamon. I put a little sugar in the cheap swill they supply at work.” “I’m learning so much about you this morning,” Henry grins, shaking his head. Alex sips his coffee – the first sip always burns, just a little – and smiles back.  “Stick around baby, there’s still so much you can learn,” Alex winks. Henry flushes and steps further away. “Yes, well. I suppose I’ll leave so you can get ready for work.” Henry’s eyes dart toward the door. “You’ll come back though, right?” “Yes, Alex. I’ll come back.”

Several Sentence Sunday

Alright so it's been A MINUTE since I've posted anything from my @aroyallybigbangrwrb fic "Kiss Me, Just Once (for luck)", so this is what we're going with today! Reminder, it's loosely based off of the Idea of You (LARGE EMPHASIS ON LOOSELY), Alex is in a boyband, Henry is 39 and father to a 16-year-old, Amelia. Enjoy some dad!Henry and too smart for her own good Amelia!

“Sweetheart, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Think about the implications of this, I’m your parent and I’m also in charge of your two friends. All three of you are underage and all four of those boys, those men, are all over 21. What kind of parent would I be if I let my teenage daughter and her teenage friends galavant around with rockstars?”  “Okay, first of all, they aren’t rockstars, they’re just regular guys, remember?” Amelia gave him a look, calling back to their earlier conversation, and he wanted to smack himself silly for setting himself up for that. “And second, who cares about the implications? You’re our chaperone, right? And you’re also invited? We won’t leave your sight, we won’t try to drink or leave with anyone. And if there are any drugs, we’ll come get you immediately and we’ll leave.” Amelia looked back at Ruby and Brent to confirm and they both started nodding so hard Henry worried they’d get whiplash.

WIP Wednesday, November 6, 2024

It feels weird, and kind of not right, to be posting a WIP Wednesday today given the election fuckery from last night. I'm not going to be one of those folks that says shit like, "today, i cry. tomorrow, i fight."

Because honestly, fuck that shit. I'm tired. And I know a lot of y'all are tired, too.

But until I figure out where the fuck to go from here, I may as well share words, just as @suseagull04, @cactusdragon517, and @porcelainmortal did. I hope these words from chapter 7 will make you smile. It'll be a bit delayed because of said election fuckery and my amazing betas needing to take care of their mental and emotional health, too.

So, from chapter 7 of (the only truth) everything comes back to you:

Once dinner is finished, Henry heads upstairs to change out of his work clothes into something comfortable to lounge in for the night. Alex makes sure the kitchen is cleaned up and the dishwasher is loaded, and calls out to Henry to find a movie for them to watch as he jogs upstairs himself. He changes into gray sweatpants and a thread-worn black tank top, and stops back in the kitchen to dish out two bowls of ice cream. “Christ, it took you long enough.” Henry feigns irritation when he takes the bowl Alex offers. “Whatever, you could have started the movie at any time, sweetheart.” Alex plops down onto the couch beside Henry and kicks his feet up onto the table. “Raised in a bloody barn,” Henry mutters and shoves a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth. “No, just Texas. Though I can understand how that might be confusing to you given how many farms there are in Texas.” Alex pushes play on the remote, leaving Henry speechless. “Arse,” Henry mutters.

Henry reaches up and runs a hand through Alex soft curls, free from any product. “I know, love,” he whispers, always able to read Alex’s mind, whether it’s running at full speed or calm and collected, like it is now.

Alex takes Henry’s hand and brings it to his mouth, pressing a gentle kiss to each of his knuckles. “We’re rich.”

“You don’t have to be so gentle, y’know,” Alex inputs when Henry is already halfway through detangling his hair. Henry’s finger reaches for the hair at the nape of his neck, tracing the direction of his cowlick and making Alex shiver.

Henry doesn’t reply, he only reaches down to place a trail of kisses down the side of Alex’s neck and the place where it meets his shoulder. “I want to. So let me,” he whispers.

or, Henry finds a new way to show Alex he loves him.
