NEVILLE AS A CHILD OF FREYJA

Just watched Ragnarok (2020) and I was wondering a few things:

First, Laurits’ and Magne’s ages, how many grades Laurits skipped and how old he was when their dad died. Season 2 revealed Magne’s age (17, then 18 sometime between May 17 and summer vacation). It also gave us some clues about Laurits. I am assuming he is 16 during season 2, meaning that he skipped 2 years, because Turid said he was concieved 17 years ago. In Norway your grade dependence on the year you are born (so there isn’t a cut-off date during summer like in some other countries), so there is no need to figure out when their birthdays are in terms how many grades Laurits skipped. 

It also means that Laurits was most likely about 4 when their dad died, since Magne was 6. 

Second, The Midgard Serpent. At first I thought it was a mistake, or creative liberty that Laurits and Erik said that Loki gave birth to the Midgard Serpent, instead of having fathered it. But I read some reasearch, and found out that according to some sources, Loki actually did birth it. 

Thirdly, I didn’t like Harry being Tyr. Well, at least not in the scene where he beat up a kid for stealing. Tyr is the god of war (well, norse gods are rarely “the god of x” strictly speaking, but some or associated strongly with certain things, or were considered to be good to pray to for specific requests, like a good harvest or victory in combat) but he is also associated with justice and treaties, and I just didn’t like how he could beat up a guy like that. But that is maybe because I always imagined him as someone more collected. and disciplined, instead of being violent and short-fused. I guess it makes sense for a god associated with justice to not be happy with being stolen from. 

Fourth, Iman’s powers are weird to me. Nowhere is Freya implied to have such powers. Her being associated with love and lust doesn’t make it less weird, since her powers seemsto be more about control, than making someone love her. People don’t mindlessly obey someone out of love, infatuation or attraction. So I don’t know what to make of her powers. I feel like Freyja/Iman could have had many other interesting powers, that would fit more with Freyja’s portayal in the mythology. Though I guess this opens the door for interesting character arcs and questions about how and when she should use her gift. Struggling with temptation, or (which I find even more interesting) with the moral implications of using it on someone for a good/non-selfish/important cause, since it could prevent something bad, but it would also still take somoene’s free will from them, even if it is only temporary. 

Fiftly, I am really curious about how Asbjörn’s death, and how it affected his family. Turid might have bulimia, or struggle with some sort of disordered eating (nb: I think this is the first time I have ever seen a parent in media struggle with a issue like that, which is interesting). Did she develope these issues before Asbjorn’s death? Or did the come from losing a husband and the stress of being a financially struggling single mom? Then there are her sons. Magne seems to remember him to a certain extent, and Laurits too, though he says he was too young to remember him.

@ziggystardustminifest Day 6! I definitely did not write as much as I had intended to for this mini-fest. But I’m pretty happy with what I got done. And I will probably finish out the prompts because I have them all figured out just ran out of time.

This is the first NottPott I’ve ever written and I kind of dig the pairing. Might have to write more of them in the future. This is a gift for @roseharpermaxwell for just being an awesome friend.

Harry did not notice him.

Didn’t notice the way one wavy strand of cocoa-coloured hair fell across his strong brow when he was lost in concentration on an assignment.

Nor the way the corners of his hazel eyes crinkled and dimples cut into his sharp cheekbones when Blaise told a joke at the Slytherin breakfast table.

And in the library, Harry definitely didn’t notice the other boy’s wide, pouty lips mouthing the words as he read a book alone in the corner.

Harry did not notice Theo.

Not all the time.

Until the day Theo decided to notice him.

Charms class had ended and the Eighth Years filed out into the hallway.

“You were impressive today, Harry,” Theo whispered beside him.

Harry’s head whipped in the direction of the low and breathy complement. His voice cracked in surprise, “Th- thanks.”

Theo’s smile deepened — eye crinkles and dimples — and Harry’s breath caught. His heart skipped a couple of beats before racing ahead without him.

“Well, see you around.” Theo gave him a small wave and jogged to catch up with the Slytherins, slinging his messenger bag over his shoulder as he did so.

Harry stood rooted to the floor.

As the group turned at the end of the hall, Theo glanced back at Harry, flashed a grin, and disappeared around the corner.

The rest of the class shuffled around him until Ron and Hermione arrived and snapped him out of his stupor.

“You ok, Harry?” Hermione asked, tilting her head to the side.

“Huh?” Harry jumped. He removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes back into focus, not quite believing what had just happened. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s go to lunch.”

Ron and Hermione shared a look which Harry pointedly ignored.

In the Great Hall, Harry tried his best to focus on the conversation between Neville, Hermione, and Ginny — something salacious about Professor Snape and Professor Trewlaney out behind the greenhouses — but his mind and eyes kept drifting to the Slytherin table.

He wasn’t the only one not paying attention to the gossip at their house’s table. On more than one occasion, astute hazel eyes met his from across the hall. Each time, Harry’s neck burned warmer and Theo’s smirk widened.

After lunch, Harry had a free period. He said goodbye to his friends in the entrance hall and escaped to the comfortable solitude of the courtyard. Choosing a bench in the sun, Harry flopped down and tilted his head against the cool stone wall.

Unbidden, the image of Theo’s face danced behind his eyelids, all laughter and joy and confidence. How did Theo escape Malfoy’s fate during the war, he wondered. Perhaps, if he was very lucky, he would have an opportunity to find out.

As though summoning him through pure thought alone, a smooth voice popped his eyes open.

“May I join you, Harry?” Theo said.

Rendered incapable of speech, Harry nodded and scooted over to make room on the bench.

Theo tilted his head down and rubbed his hands together. The sun glowed a halo around him, highlighting the auburn undertones in his hair that Harry had never noticed from afar before.

What does one say to the person they’ve spent the better part of a year pretending not to notice? Harry wracked his brain and came up with… nothing.

“So,” Theo laughed clear and bright, “there’s a Hogsmeade weekend coming up.”

Was- was he actually? Harry’s stomach fluttered, his chest expanded.

Finally, Theo turned toward Harry, his smile radiant.

Harry’s mouth went dry.

“Would you wanna, I don’t know, go? Together?” asked Theo, eyes alight with hope.

Finding words for the first time, Harry cleared his throat and said with as much confidence as he could muster, “Yes.”

He could get used to this noticing thing.

All of my characters hold bits and pieces of myself but the closest to me personally is probably Mabel/Maisie. They’re almost the same character honestly, just different fandoms, and both very similar to me.

21 Reasons to Love Someone

(Damien Haas x reader)

#1. Their Smile

     At first excitement coursed Damien’s being as he thought about the prospect of having a job where he could sit around and play games all day. However, it did not take him long to feel the same way everybody else in the office did. You knew the pressure took a toll on him when the first thing he did after work was sleep. Damien’s personality shined through on camera, but being the entertaining ball of sunshine for so many videos each day overwhelmed him. When he came home he would say a mindless “hello y/n” and perhaps jokingly say “hello my baby geese” to Freyja and Zelda, but after that he would close the door to the bedroom and plop down on the bed. Sometimes he wouldn’t even bother to take his shoes off. Usually you would just leave him alone for a couple hours until you finished making dinner or the postmate had arrived.

“How was work?” you would ask as you handed him his meal.

He would always tell you, “It was good, but I won’t go into detail. Too much happened today; I’ll probably miss something if I try to tell you.”

     Damien would always laugh it off and pretend like it was nothing, but you knew better than to buy into his nightly act. After nearly a year and half of dating, you knew what Damien did when something bothered him. Comedy was his coping mechanism, but after the bright laughter ceased, his face fell into a blank expression: the sparkle in his eyes dulled, his normally rosy complexion seemingly drained in an instant, and lastly, silence filled the room. It was quite frankly the most bizarre phenomenon to behold. All you wanted to do was grab his soft face and kiss his forehead to try and convince him that everything would work out, but this wasn’t a fanfiction or a cheesy romantic comedy. People are more complicated than that.

     So that’s how you ended up awake at 3:17 a.m. scouring the internet for Harry Potter house robe cat costumes. Your dry eyes and blurry vision did not deter you from finding that one Esty shop that would grant you wish. Was each costume going to be $45 plus shipping? Yes. But did that stop you? No. This was a mission of love, and for Damien, you would go any distance to see that adorable goober genuinely smile.You were just about to place the order when Damien’s arm pulled you closer into his chest as he looked over your shoulder. Without thinking, you stupidly threw your phone across the room. Luckily it landed in a soft, plushy chair in the corner of the room. 

“Y/n, what was that about?” Damien shook his head. 

You struggled to find an answer, “Um...uh...”

“Do I even want to know?” he chuckled, “As long as it’s not Tinder I don’t care enough to lose any more sleep.”

“I would never cheat on you!” you exclaimed.

He sleepily mumbled, “I know. I’m too sexy.”

     You laughed to yourself as you left the bed to go retrieve your hopefully-not-cracked-phone. You quickly placed the order and crawled back into bed. It was rare that Damien ever complimented himself like that. It reminded you of the Damien you knew before Defy... the Damien who ruffled his hair and smoldered at the camera for a selfie. It was so nice to hear Damien still have his moments of confidence. It gave you hope that your plan would actually work.

5:15 pm. It was almost time.

     You had just finished making dinner, and you rushed to set the table neatly. To be honest, what you made shouldn’t even really be considered dinner because it was more or less a buffet of different movie food such as: M&Ms, twizzlers, chips and homemade dip, tiny sandwiches, and of course popcorn. You arranged them into a deliciously looking spread in the finest plastic bowls the dollar store had to offer. (Neither one of you would really want to do dishes anyway.) Once it looked perfect you turned towards the living room to hunt down Freyja and Zelda. You had the costumes neatly folded on the top of the  grey, cloth couch. Luckily Freyja was napping on the cushion below them; you petted her gently and unfolded her Ravenclaw house robes. She yawned and stretched right as you were about to wake her. Her eyes fluttered open, and she sniffed the robe. Freyja backed away and her big, glossy eyes moved back and forth between you and the costume.

“It’s for Daddy, okay? Work with me here, please Freyja.”

     She meowed back like she understood, and from then on she was compliant. Next, you had to hunt down Zelda. It honestly amazed you how well that chonky cat could hide. You called out her name for what felt like forever until you yelled that Damien would be home soon. A small meow came from underneath the couch.

“Just what am I to you guys?”

Zelda came out and before she even knew what was happening, you squeezed her into her Hufflepuff robes, “Finally.” 

      Everything was almost perfect; the last thing you had to do was put on your own house robes and get all eight Harry Potter movies out of storage. Sure you would never be able to finish them all in one night, but both of you would give it a valiant attempt. Digging the movies out of the bin would prove to be a challenge because both of you were giant nerds that for some reason decided to just throw all your nerdiness into several boxes and NOT label them. In the fourth of six boxes is where you found the first three movies, and the rest were at the bottom of the fifth box. You decided that after all this was over you and Damien were sure to be doing some serious decluttering for the next week or so. Meanwhile, you had to go light some spooky looking candles, somehow avoid going ahead and digging into the scrumptious food, and put the first DVD in the console. 

     As the first movie finally loaded, Damien unlocked the door and walked in, “It smells like a theatre in here. What happ-”

     He stopped dead in his tracks when saw you with the Sorting Hat on your head and your Harry Potter robes. His face was full of wonder and confusion as he took a couple seconds to slowly look around and examine his surroundings. He giggled at the spooky yet romantic lighting as well as Hedwig’s Theme rattling the walls of the apartment. You hoped you two wouldn’t get noise complaints...again. Damien walked closer towards you, but soon Freyja and Zelda ambushed him by rubbing themselves up against his legs.

He looked down in disbelief, “Freyja...Zelda? Y/n?”

“I’m glad you know all our names,” you teased.

“What is all this? Their costumes? The candles? The food? Harry Potter?” he sat down on the floor next to you.

“Listen Damien, I know something has been up with you these past couple of weeks. I know you love Smosh and your job, and it doesn’t make sense to me why you would be hiding how you really feel from me,” you said.

“Y/n,” he sighed, “It’s complicated, okay? Half the time I don’t even know what’s going through my head when it comes to talking about my day. You are right. I love my job, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. However, I’m having a tough time right now. There are a lot of videos we film in one day, and for someone like me it can easily become too much. The biggest issue is our parent company itself never listening to us; it is so frustrating. I don’t like spreading that kind of negativity so I shove it away, but it seems it has still affected you. It’s hard for me to talk about, and honestly, I just want to figure it out on my own. I don't want to bring you down with me.”

You were kind of hurt that he didn’t feel comfortable telling you everything but you had to respect him, “It’s okay Damien. I won’t push you, but please let me in on some things. I hate sitting here watching you be miserable not being able do a single thing about it. I want to help you, and that’s why I did all this. Sometimes you walk in here, and it’s like I don’t even know who I am looking at. I believe you will find your footing at Smosh, and everyone will soon adore you. I know it didn’t take me long to fall in love with you.”

Damien blushed, “Oh really?”

     He smiled. He actually smiled. It was a complete 100% authentic goofy Damien smile that spread from ear to ear. He felt happiness deep down inside because of you, and that is all you could ever ask for. Being the ooey-gooey romantic person you are, you threw yourself onto him and gave him a big kiss on the forehead. No, that kiss wouldn’t really fix much, but it made both of your hearts melt. When you pulled away you looked at his face again; he was still smiling, but it wasn’t the same as it was a moment ago. Instead of bright and bubbly, it was a small adoring grin. His eyes bore into yours, and it was like everything else around you two disappeared. 

“Y/n?” he asked.

You answered, “Yes?”

He pulled you into his chest and tightly wrapped his arms around you. His soft heartbeat became like white nose to you, “How come you fell in love with me so fast?”

You pulled away from him and kissed his lips, “How could I not with that smile of yours?”

SuperPotterCorp Part4

Summary & Warning : The SG x HP fic no one asked for yet I’m posting. It’s pretty bad not to mention NSFW with lots of triggers and potential triggers like violence abuse and mention of all forms of assault. also starts off between season 3 and four Lena knows about Kara  (obviously) [also agentreign] with the Bloody Brandy challenge. 

Before the discussion could proceed any further they were interrupted by a series of hisses and dings in the direction from which Harry had appeared, that would be kitchen, suddenly all of Harry’s children plus Buffy cheered loudly and ran towards the kitchen, while Harry had a small smile on her face as she saw her kids rush towards the kitchen, She turned towards the super friends and said, “It is time for dinner, I suppose we can continue this discussion later on.”

As she said that and the superfriends began to nod Kara super sped to the kitchen in a demonstration of how much she agreed on the opinion that the discussion about their life can be shelved when compared with food.

Harry and the superfriends followed her at a much sedate pace, as they entered the kitchen the super friends saw it had a hard wood floor and the walls were a mix of tiles and different shades of paints in stripes like magenta and maroon there were several different pots on the stove and there was an oven which was indicating that it was done preparing whatever was inside it, they spotted a huge polished mahogany table that looked quite Victorian, except it didn’t have any legs to keep it off floor and was simply floating mid air, they chalked it up to magic having seen far too much weird to be fazed by something so simple, but there was a distinct lack of any seating.

Harry simply started washing her hands, while the superfriends were standing awkwardly due to not knowing what to do, as soon as she was finished Harry gave her children a look and they all groaned and rushed to wash their hands, seeing the baffled look among the superfriends she explained, “Sorry, it’s a small discipline trick I’ve used since forever, the kitchen is enchanted so that nor food nor chairs will appear until all occupants have washed their hands, so iif you will please..” she ended giving them a look.

Sam let out a whistle and said, “That’s damn great! if only I could get something like that at my place..” she ended giving the former a pleading look.

The aforementioned witch threw back her head and laughed, looking at the brunette with a twinkle in her eyes she replied, “We’ll see.”

As soon as Winn - who was the last - washed his hands there was a soft pop and all the food flew from the stove and the oven - which was a lot more than they assumed at first - and set itself on the table like a royal feast, and belatedly the noticed the chairs fitting snugly along the table as if they were always there.

As they sat down Dandy and Buffy closed their eyes and clasped their hands to start praying, meanwhile rest of the Potter family simply sat with a patient calm, looking at the puzzled faces of superfriends Harry said, “both of them like to pray, Buffy being a christian to Yeshua while Dandy believes in Mothers Magic and Earth hence prays to Gaia and Freyja, I mean it when I say you need not wait and may start eating”.

Speaking for all of them John said, “We’ll prefer to wait.”

Giving him a nod of understanding she glanced at Kara and Lena, the former had closed her eyes too and was praying, to whatever deity she believed in though she highly doubted it was the popular guy in sandals who died for everyone’s sins, that led to her snorting, she had to stop watching so much Supernatural, and then she looked at Lena who was looking at Kara as if she was her god – or goddess in this case – the sheer peace on the former-Luthor’s face was not unlike that of a nun or priestess, had they never met her she wouldn’t have cursed them with her misfortune, and they would’ve had a fairytale romance, she wondered how many would she lead to their doom, her parents, Sirius, Ginny, and….she was snapped out of her grim thoughts by having her eldest daughter flicking hard on her forehead.

Macaria had a deadpan expression on her face as she said, “Hey! You still have guests here wander off to your doomdom afterwards”.

A small yet genuine smile formed on her face as she stared at her eldest daughter and replied, “Doomdom, really? Of all of our inside jokes you had to take up that one?”

The Superfriends politely reigned in their curiosity, and tried to look like they hadn’t been paying attention to the mother-daughter’s antics, except Brainy who had been silenced by John when it looked like he was going to say something quite probably rude.

As the dinner progressed peacefully, the superfriends realized something, there was a lot of food, even by their standards and the small family of five had been devouring the lion’s share of it, actually it was only the three siblings eating more than Kara did at dinner, which was saying something, at first they thought it must’ve been because of their magical heritage but given how little Harry was consuming that didn’t make a lot of sense, after figuring out that this wasn’t a trap they had been trying not to offend the good reality warping lady, unfortunately for the lot of them Winn forgot that little detail as he put this whole leg in his mouth commenting, “Wow! You guys must be eating out a restaurant in a single day!”

The Potter siblings reacted in varied manner at the DEO tech genii in accordance to their age by Slightly Smiling (Macaria), giving him a deadpan (Dandy), and frowning at him (Casper), Buffy looked like she was about to pounce across the table and strangle the man with her bare hands, and had a flat expression as she stared at the offending man and offered just two words, “Excuse me?” those two words were spoken quite softly but were all the more frigid, gone was the friendly atmosphere she had till now.

Before anyone else could say anything Winn began explaining himself, much to his friends worry, “No, No, I didn’t meant to offend anyone of you and I’m really sorry for that, it’s just that when Kara uses her powers she requires a huge calorie intake to maintain her strength and I was wondering if something along the same vein applied when it came to your abilities…”

As he trailed off his defense Harry took a deep breath but before she could say anything Dandy stalled her, “Mum calm down, he didn’t mean anything by what he said; we’ve heard it when people are being rude and he wasn’t.”

Harry frowned and yet again took a deep breath and got up from her seat to promptly leave the room after muttering an “Excuse me”.

The atmosphere instantly became quite awkward, at least till Mac took it upon herself to explain her mother’s reaction, “Don’t worry she’ll be back soon enough, our lifestyle especially food and clothing are a bit of a touchy subject for her, after all there was once a time when she arrived here with three children and no money or resources to her aid, all she had was her will power, so she take offence quite easily when anyone even accidentally implies anything negative with regards to us”.

All of them gave a nod of understanding at that and Winn grimaced at that feeling quite guilty by now, while both Sam and John understood where Harry was coming from.

Current word count for the year: 121,367 words (including the coffee shop au, which is ~12k; excluding the parts of sunrises i published in 2017, so i wrote about ~47k of sunrises not this year; excluding anything else i may have posted that’s not on ao3. and that’s.... fuck me with a lego, that’s so much more than i ever would’ve thought. and that’s just the first half of this year, and just one year. what the fuck. i don’t know what to do with this knowledge.
