Tomarang
Lanjutan dari postingan Tomarang berikutnya. Berhubung saya sendiri masih capek pulang kerja di dunia nyata, jadi saya review singkat, padat, dan jelas saja ya.
The Sims 4 studio team who did research for For Rent EP definitely taking many references from Thailand and Malaysia.
Boat = Thailand.
Colourful diamond-shaped lanterns hanging on cafe = Vietnam. (It's not Chinese lantern, very different).
Tumblr media
Gazebo Rooftop = Thailand.
Squat toilet = universal Southeast Asian "traditional" toilet. Actual Southeast Asian style throw the water using Gayung as water container to the toilet to flush the toilet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Painting on The Screaming Gecko cafe, there is image of temple. It is Thai temple. Wat Phra Kaew.
NASI LEMAK, the famous national Malaysian dish, Finally EA updated the correct mesh. And adding Coconut Rice to the menu which is not accurate.
There is no such thing as "Coconut Rice" in Southeast Asian cuisine. I asked fellow Indonesian Sims player and real life people from Indonesia and Malaysia... They are confused and don't know what is "Coconut Rice."
Apologize from EA accepted. So far the complaint via Malaysian youtube influencer worked. The only interesting about this Nasi Lemak 3D model is the texture. Too realistic for The Sims 4 food. As it is more suitable for The Sims 3 food texture without looking too cartoon. I can easily recognize nasi, ikan teri, ayam, sambal, ketimun, kacang, dan telur.
Tumblr media
Painting on cafe wall. Beer and... Tiger? What's EA trying to say... Is it Tiger Beer? Beer from Singapore?
Tiger Statue. In Indonesia, there are many Tiger statues displayed on the public street and in front of military building. There was "Cisewu Tiger Statue." from Indonesia became viral on internet, due to its funny-looking tiger statue looks like laughing.
Tumblr media
Thailand Dragon fountain statue. Yes, dragon in Southeast Asia is depicted as water serpent creature. The color is right, Green and gold. Definitely not eyesore in red colour like The Sims 3 Shang Simla Chinese dragon statue.
Dragons have long symbolized power, creativity, heaven, and good fortune. Thai culture also believes that dragons have authority over bodies of water, rain, floods, and storms.
Tumblr media
Wet Market = universal Southeast Asian market. There are always fresh fish, seafood, and chicken sold on the market stall.

For the Braised Fried Fish Maw Seafood Treasure Soup, the staff portioned it into ten smaller bowls before serving it to us. Not sure if it is because I am holding a camera, but my bowl came with more chunks of crab meat and fish maw. Basically, a seafood soup thickened with starch so the ingredients seem to be suspended/frozen in the soup. Black vinegar and white pepper accompanied this soup so feel free to add some to it.
Tumblr media
Well, the Roasted Crispy Chicken with Prawn Crackers was warm and tender to eat, it however wasn’t crispy at it. And just like everywhere else in Singapore, they referred to this deep-fried chicken as a roasted chicken. Sprinkle a bit of the salt & pepper before putting it into the mouth. A lacklustre dish but thank goodness, the prawn crackers were crispy though.
Tumblr media
This Steamed Hybrid Garoupa in Hong Kong Style was cut into sections just before they served it to us. This hybrid grouper is probably a cross between the giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus) and brown-marbled grouper or tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) and given the Dragon Tiger Grouper (龙虎斑) name. The fish got to be very fresh to be steamed and cooked with just a simple condiment of soya sauce, julienned spring onions and cilantro leaves for garnish. The end result, sweet springy flesh with collagen like skin that is so good to eat.
Tumblr media
The Braised Whole 10-Head Abalone with Sea Cucumber and Spinach was up next but the process of waiting for the next dish to be served was a long one as in-between the hosts are showing us video stories of the newly married couple and plus the live singing by the friends and band. Ten pieces each of the abalone and sea cucumber sitting atop a bed of blanched Popeye’s favourite green vegetable. Why 10 you may ask? Because a table usually seat ten people so the food portions are divided equally so each get a piece of everything (for the expensive ingredients that is). The only complaint for this dish is that the spinach is on the bitter side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like an overturned basket or nest, spilling out Deep-Fried Prawns with Black Truffle Mayonnaise Sauce. If there is anything to change for the presentation, I would move the red and green coral lettuces from under the eatable nest and placed it in the nest for a more dramatic effect. Anyway, these truffle gratings lend an aromatic and earthy fragrances to the classic mayo prawns topped with orange flying fish roe. My colleague and I detected a mild spicy hint of wasabi in it but another colleague said it is from the truffle and mayo combo. Differences aside, this is one dish I won’t mind having again.
Tumblr media
I always love this noodle served at the end of the dinner courses just before dessert. The Braised Ee-Fu Noodles with Yellow Chives and Straw Mushrooms is a usual staple at wedding due to the fact it is also known as longevity noodles (寿面). Normally, I would consume more than a bowl of the yi mein (伊面) but that night I was already quite stuffed from the dishes served and I was leaving room for dessert. :D
Tumblr media
By the time the last dish was up and the clock was ticking closer to 11pm. The warm Teochew Yam Paste with Gingko Nut and Coconut Milk with its gooey and smooth yam (taro) paste and whole gingko nuts smothered in thickened coconut milk is bursting with sweetness and a great comfort to many of us Singaporeans. I liked the fact that the chef tuned the sugar level to just sweet enough as I preferred mine not too saccharine. Anyway, I just had to ask for another bowl as it was just too good to pass up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dinner is now over and after shaking hands with the groom, bride and their respective parents, it is time to head to the train station to catch the train home.

Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City
After leaving Singapore I returned to Vietnam to travel around and see more of the country that I’m calling home for the next few months.
I started in Phu Quoc, an island in the South of Vietnam located off the shores of Cambodia. I stayed in Duong Dong, which is the centrally located main town on the island. I think if I returned I would stay in a different area, however, as Duong Dong was more touristy and kind of gave me Myrtle Beach vibes. The beach there was still nice to go and this is where the Phu Quoc Night Market is located. The best street food I’ve had so far in Vietnam was at this night market. They have fresh seafood spreads that they grill in front you, fresh fruit juices and smoothies, and much more. There was one crepe stand that I really liked. Street food is a big part of Vietnamese culture and one shouldn’t shy away from trying it while here.
Phu Quoc was really just a relax at the beach kind of trip, rather than sightseeing as I have been doing. I mostly stayed at the pool and beach access by my hotel, but I did make it across the island to the fishing town of Ham Ninh. There wasn’t much there except for some seafood restaurants that were suspended over the water on piers, but I did stop in one to enjoy some fresh clams and look out at the open ocean.
In general Phu Quoc was okay for a few days of relaxation by the beach and eating great seafood. And the one highlight of Duong Dong was that I could watch the sun rise over the mountains and set over the ocean, which was a beautiful way to start and end my day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Phu Quoc was a short plane ride away from my next destination: Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon. While it’s official name is Ho Chi Minh City, a lot of people still call it Saigon and it’s airport code is even “SGN”. A lot of businesses there also use Saigon in their name.
HCMC is the most populous city in Vietnam and has a much bigger city feel. I think it is also more popular for tourists and expats, as I saw a lot more foreigners around than in Hanoi.
I spent a lot of time just walking around seeing the city. Singapore softened me so I had to reacclimate to Vietnamese traffic. As a pedestrian in cities here you have to always be on high alert as you never know where a car or motorbike will appear from. My first day in Saigon I bent down to tie my shoe and was nearly grazed by a BMW driving down the sidewalk. Despite this I was still able to make my way around to a lot of good spots around the city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my last day in Ho Chi Minh I booked a guided tour of Mui Ne, a beach town about a five hour bus ride from the city. The many hours in the bus were worthwhile, as Mui Ne was absolutely beautiful. Our group’s guides took as around in Jeeps to all the main spots in the area. We walked along the Fairy Stream, stopped by a fishing village, rode ATVs around the white sand dunes, and watched the sunset from the red sand dunes. Every stop was great and I took so many photos. Mui Ne is definitely an underrated area in Vietnam that I’m glad I was able to see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still have an entire week (!) off of class, so my travels will continue.

Tung Lok Seafood From Singapore Opens Third Branch at Greenhills Mall
Tumblr media
Tung Lok Seafood, a renowned destination for Singaporean-Chinese style seafood, has now opened their third branch at the new Greenhills Mall in San Juan City. This international franchise from Singapore has captured the hearts of Filipinos with their tantalizing array of dishes including award-winning classics such as Tung Lok's signature Chilli Crab. Now we have more locations to enjoy these all favorites.
Tumblr media
You can find the newest branch of Tung Lok Seafood at the ground floor of the new Greenhills Mall. It was also our first time to visit this newly renovated area inside the Greenhills Shopping Center so everything really looks pristine.
Tumblr media
The Tung Lok Group was established in 1984 by Mr. Andrew Tjioe and is the leading restaurant group in Singapore with over 30 restaurants across Asia. This popular restaurant made its way to the country courtesy of Eric Teng, who also owns and manages other local favorites such as Mango Tree, Genki Sushi, Kureji, Sen-Ryo, and Wong Place.
Tumblr media
The Greenhills Mall branch is quite spacious, with a total seating capacity of 113 guests. The elegant interiors make it a great venue for celebrating special occasions with family and friends.
Tumblr media
Aside from the main dining hall, it also has several private and semi-private dining rooms which can cater from 8 up to 40 guests when combined.
Tumblr media
Tung Lok Seafood sets itself apart from the usual traditional Chinese restaurants by offering a mouthwatering range of traditional Chinese cuisine from Cantonese, Shanghainese, and Sichuan dishes with a dash of modern creations. Tung Lok 同乐 means being happy together, and true to form, Tung Lok has been a part of many happy occasions from birthdays to anniversaries and other celebrations.
Tumblr media
I was happy to be reunited again with Gwen Jacinto who invited us to visit this new location together with a few of our friends.
Tumblr media
We started by ordering a few of Tung Lok Seafood's refreshing Fresh Fruit Shakes and Juices like the Watermelon Shake (P250) and the Ripe Mango Shake (P250). I went for their Coconut Shake (P250) which you can also order fresh from the coconut shell.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
We were presented with some of Tung Lok Seafood's signature dishes. It had been a while since I last dined at Tung Lok so I was excited to see these Cantonese favorites.
Tumblr media
One of the must-try dishes at Tung Lok Seafood is the Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg (P490). Do you know that it was the Tung Lok Group which started selling the Crispy Fish Skin in their restaurants even before Irvin's made it a global snack? These fish skins are unbelievably crispy while bursting with salted egg flavors. I really love every bite of this, especially since it is served fresh and hot off the fryers, unlike that of Irvin’s which has already been sealed inside their packages for a long time.
Tumblr media
I love eating prawn salads so the Wasabi Mayo Prawns (P750) was also on my radar. These plump pieces of coated prawns are deep fried then combined with Tung Lok’s signature wasabi mayo sauce. It’s quite different from the usual prawn salads I have tasted, with the wasabi mayo giving it a distinct flavor.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Instead of the usual Yang Chow fried rice, we had the Black Garlic Fried Rice (Medium-P550). This is a deep garlicky fried rice which really goes well with all the other dishes.
Tumblr media
We also tried the Fried Mee Sua with Seafood (P780). Everything served at Tung Lok comes with so much flavors including their noodles. This can be an entire meal on its own but we have plenty more exciting dishes to come.
Tumblr media
One of the highlights of our lunch was the Collagen Fish Soup (P3200). I know about the benefits of adding collagen to our diets, especially for the skin, so we were really looking forward to this.
Tumblr media
The whole grouper is cooked in a collagen-rich broth and then served to us individually on our soup bowls. The soup was really thick and comforting, much like eating a rich bowl of ramen. I really loved this dish.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
We also had the Slow Cooked Beef Brisket with Bean Curd (P700). This goes so well with the black garlic fried rice and the beef was really tender.
Tumblr media
Finally, the Tung Lok Signature Chili Crab (market price) is a Singaporean specialty that is also a favorite here in the country. The crab is big and meaty, so you will need to get your hands messy for this one. The sauce comes with a spicy kick, so it’s good to have it with some rice. The Chili Crab is also served with a side of fried and soft mantou breads.
Tumblr media
For our desserts, Tung Lok Seafood brought out its very pretty Taro Puree with Ice Cream (P280). It comes with real chunks of taro so it is quite filling for a dessert. On the other hand, you can also order the Chilled Mango Sago with Pomelo (P250) if you want something more familiar.
Tumblr media
We would like to thank Gwen Jacinto and the staff of Tung Lok Seafood for hosting our exquisite seafood lunch. Tung Lok Seafood has always been known for their premium and delicious seafood offerings so this new branch in Greenhills is perfect for this location's discerning crowd.

The Utility of Fish Storage Boxes and Containers in the Fishing Industry in U.S.A.
Tumblr media
In the fast-paced world of the fishing industry, efficient storage solutions are vital for maintaining the quality of fresh catches. U.S.A., known for its vibrant fisheries sector, relies heavily on fish storage boxes and containers to ensure that fish remain fresh from the sea to the consumer’s plate. A vital explanation of the various utilities of fish storage boxes and containers within this critical industry, emphasizing their advantages, applications, and importance.
1. Preserving Freshness and Quality
One of the primary utilities of fish storage boxes is their ability to preserve the freshness and quality of fish. Freshness is paramount in the fishing industry, where the success of sales can depend on the quality of the catch. insulated fish storage boxes maintain low temperatures, thereby slowing down the growth of bacteria and enzymes that can cause spoilage. This ensures that fish remains in prime condition for longer periods, meeting both market demand and consumer expectations.
1.1 Temperature Control
Fish are highly perishable products, and temperature control is vital. Many fish storage containers are designed with insulation to provide proper thermal management. For example, insulated fish boxes maintain cooler internal temperatures, even in the hot and humid climate of U.S.A.. This proactive approach significantly reduces the risk of spoilage during transport and storage.
2. Versatility in Sizes and Shapes
The fishing industry in U.S.A. comprises various types of fish and seafood, necessitating containers that cater to different sizes and shapes. Fish storage boxes are available in a range of dimensions, accommodating everything from small fish to large catches like tuna. This versatility makes it convenient for fishmongers and producers to select the right container for their specific needs.
2.1 Customizable Solutions
Several manufacturers offer customizable storage boxes tailored to specific types of fish or unique operational requirements. For instance, insulated plastic tubs
may be designed with adjustable dividers that allow fishers to separate different species or sizes without compromising their quality. Customizable solutions offer fishers the flexibility to adapt their storage solutions according to their catch and market needs.
3. Enhanced Hygiene and Cleanliness
The fishing industry is heavily regulated regarding hygiene and food safety standards. Fish storage boxes are generally made of non-porous materials that are easy to clean and maintain. Regular cleaning helps to prevent cross-contamination between different types of fish and ensures that stored products remain safe for consumption.
3.1 Compliance with Food Safety Standards
In U.S.A., meeting food safety standards is vital for businesses in the fishing industry. Using high-quality, hygienic storage containers helps fish dealers comply with regulations set by organizations like the Singapore Food Agency. Utilizing authorized suppliers, such as those specializing in insulated and easily sanitized fish boxes, can help businesses meet these regulations effectively.
4. Cost-Effectiveness
Investing in quality fish storage boxes can lead to cost savings over time. They significantly reduce waste by extending the shelf life of fish, ultimately improving profitability. Businesses no longer have to contend with the losses associated with spoiled fish, leading to better financial performance.
4.1 Longevity and Durability
Many fish storage boxes are constructed from robust materials that withstand the rigorous demands of the fishing industry. They can endure harsh handling conditions while maintaining their structural integrity. This durability not only prolongs their lifespan but also reduces replacement costs, making them an economically sound investment.
5. Streamlined Logistics
Fish storage containers play a crucial role in improving logistics within the fishing industry. What Are the Best Methods for Storing Fresh Prawns to Maintain Their Freshness?
Storing fresh prawns to maintain their freshness is essential to ensure they remain safe and tasty. When looking for information specific to fresh prawns in Singapore, particularly from Ding Xin Seafood, you can follow these guidelines:
Keep Them Cold: Fresh prawns should be kept at a temperature close to freezing. Refrigerate them as soon as you receive them from Ding Xin Seafood to slow down bacterial growth and maintain freshness.
Use an Airtight Container: Place the prawns in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag. Make sure to remove as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn or moisture loss.
Store in the Coldest Part: Place the container of prawns in the coldest part of your refrigerator, usually the back or near the freezer compartment.
Separate from Other Foods: Keep the prawns away from other strong-smelling foods as they can absorb odors easily.
Avoid Extended Storage: Freshness is best maintained when prawns are consumed soon after purchase. Try to use them within 1-2 days for the best taste and quality.
Don't Thaw and Refreeze: If you need to use only a portion of the prawns, thaw only what you plan to cook, and avoid refreezing.
Ding Xin Seafood may have specific guidelines for storing their fresh prawns, so it's a good idea to follow any instructions they provide to ensure the best quality.
Always prioritize safety and quality when handling fresh seafood, and when in doubt, it's better to consume them sooner rather than later to enjoy the best taste and texture.

1. Summer: Grilled Seafood and Sauvignon Blanc
The Dish: Grilled Seafood
Summer is synonymous with outdoor barbecues, and nothing says summer quite like grilled seafood. Fresh, light, and bursting with flavor, grilled seafood dishes such as shrimp skewers, lobster tails, and grilled fish are perfect for warm weather dining. These dishes often feature a medley of herbs, citrus, and a touch of smokiness from the grill.
The Wine: Sauvignon Blanc
When it comes to pairing wine with grilled seafood, Sauvignon Blanc is a match made in heaven. Known for its crisp acidity and vibrant citrus notes, Sauvignon Blanc complements the delicate flavors of seafood while cutting through the richness of the dish. The wine's herbal undertones also harmonize beautifully with the herbs used in grilling.
Top Picks in Singapore:

As the weather cools down in autumn, hearty and comforting dishes take center stage. Roast chicken with root vegetables, featuring carrots, potatoes, and parsnips, is a quintessential autumn meal. The dish is characterized by its rich, savory flavors and earthy undertones.
The Wine: Chardonnay
Chardonnay, with its full-bodied profile and notes of apple, pear, and subtle oak, pairs wonderfully with roast chicken. The Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is the ideal wine to pair with beef stew. Its bold, full-bodied nature and dark fruit flavors complement the rich, meaty stew, while its firm tannins help to cut through the dish's richness. The wine's hints of spice and oak add complexity to the pairing, making it a winter favorite.

The Wine: Pinot Grigio
Pinot Grigio, with its light body and crisp acidity, is an excellent match for asparagus risotto. The wine's citrus and green apple notes enhance the fresh flavors of the asparagus, while its mineral undertones complement the creaminess of the risotto. This pairing is light, refreshing, and perfect for spring.

大家好! It's been awhile since I've had fish soup with rice. ML knew of a stall that serves a pretty decent version of it, so she, SC and MI brought me there. What I liked immediately: they added egg floss into the bowl and that's delicious! The first thing to do once I sat down with my food - try the broth. Oh YUM. Then, I really tucked in. Fresh slices of fish with rice, vegetables with rice, I finished all the food. It was so satisfying and comforting that I intend to return to try their fish congee and zha jiang mian (pork noodles in bean sauce).

ML had a craving for crispy grilled chicken, so she, SC, MI and I returned to the local western style food stall. We're allowed 2 sides and I chose salad for both. Look at that mountain of vegetables on my plate! There was too much thousand island dressing, so I scraped off what I could or ate the veggies underneath because they weren't soggy and disgustingly gloopy. It was decent, just not necessarily my favourite. If you've noticed, it isn't just me who doesn't have fastfood cravings. What ML craves is also moderately healthy. It's possible to achieve this when it's a part of our lives.
Tumblr media
Onto sushi. I didn't purposely cut sushi out of my life, I just forgot about it. Rediscovering just how delicious it is makes me want to eat it more often. For those who suffer from binge eating, this might help you. Sushi is widely recognised as relatively healthy food but I'm going through a craving for it. How I avoid an eating disorder is this. Instead of stuffing my face in 1 sitting, I make room for it every week. Moderation is key. Do I eat potato chips or unhealthy snacks? Occasionally. If someone offers them to me in the office, once in awhile, I take a few pieces. How do I limit the quantity that I consume? By having a nutritious and filling lunch. This way, I'm full and don't wanna eat to the point of discomfort before dinner.
Tumblr media
Pa and I revisited the Hong Kong food court for lunch over the weekend. He had soy braised chicken noodles and I ordered garoupa hui fan (rice in gravy, usually served with seafood or meat and vegetables). I had high expectations because their garoupa wat dan hor fun (broad rice noodles in silky egg gravy) was sublime. It didn't disappoint. Crunchy blanched choy sum (Chinese flowering cabbage), tender fresh fish and that glorious egg gravy were excellent with rice. Pa's noodles looked good too. I might try that next time.

My country - Singapore, if you don't already know - has sent its 4th tranche of aid to Gaza. The food, which includes sardines and rice, will hopefully provide starving Palestinians with better nutrition. Many of us are horrified by what is happening in the war-torn strip and the tremendous suffering. I'll continue to pray for Gaza and for parties supplying weapons to Israel to be punished. 下次见!
