i love to lament about the relationship of Setsuna and Moebius and how Setsuna was so utterly devoted to him and how he made the conscious decision to kill Setsuna off and had the audacity to tell her before that, to announce her death to her like it was something that didn't matter in the slightest, like she was cattle ready for slaughter and how she still didn't actually blame that on him, because she failed so it was only natural

but i never mention how Moebius is a computer and. by god. this just makes it so much more tragic because that is your father, that is your mother and he doesnt care about you even though you deeply wish he did. and in the finale Setsuna is pleading gor him to change his ways, to see the light and is soon after confronted with the reality that it wasnt ever possible, because Moebius is incapable of feeling, because Moebius was made to be perfect and nothing that's human is perfect

Green names ! Magician, Strength, Star, Moon and Sun are just pure image/name association. The World is the end of cycles and brings everything together so Supreme fits. Echo is involved but separate to the rest of the cures, much like The Fool. Death represents transformation and Komugi undergoes the most transformation of all the leaders. Precious is the tower and her old values of parroting her grandmothers sayings are broken down by Godatz (Do not get me started on delipre I love this mess of a show so much and will tell you about how this should have been put together)

Orange names ! Empress = Heart bc Heart is reminiscent of the actual Cure Empress. Emperor = Flora bc royals. Lovers = Peach bc get your happiness and what not. Chariot = Lovely bc representing travel is kinda like what Happiness Charge was doing with the international cures. Wheel of Fortune = Yell bc time travel ????? Justice = Melody bc the wiki says she has a strong sense of justice. Devil = Black bc the Devil represents unbreakable bonds and Black and White got that unbreakable bond rizz (THIS ONE IS TRICKY BECAUSE OF THE OTHER THINGS THE DEVIL CAN REPRESENT ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE MINORS DO NOT APPLY THOSE MEANINGS TO THEM)

Red names ! I ran out of things that really fit nicely so. Cure Grace and Blossom give me smart vibes so give them the cards that represent wisdom. Cure Top is a guy, The Hierophant can represent a man, bada bing bada boom. Cure Whip as Temperance, power of imagination = a flash of inspa~kira~tion ehhhhhh????? Cure Dream and Cure Happy got the short end of the stick as they were the only ones left so just got whatever was left.

"I relate a lot to his social anxiety, especially his performance anxiety that occurs when he's being watched by people, particularly due to his stress at needing to follow the plan/do things the "proper" way in order to not feel like he's a failure. he also stands like a lil autistic kid and i appreciate him so much for that.

(LIGHT SPOILERS) basically, he has a test that he needs to take in order to advance as a witch, and he keeps failing it because he cant perform properly while being watched by other people, even though he knows the "right" spells to use and why he's supposed to use them. on his third attempt of the test, he's prepared a "script" to use so that he can follow it and not worry about failing in the moment (in this case, his script is a hand-written book of the proper spells to use and the order in which he's supposed to use them), but when a part of the exam changes, he's no longer able to follow his script. because he's been taught all his life that there's only one proper way of doing things, his way of thinking is very rigid and he's not able to deviate from his plan without panicking. luckily, one of his fellow examinees (richeh from the autistic anime girls poll 💕) is able to convince him to try and change the way that he does things to something that is more attuned to his personal needs- basically change the way that he casts his spells and which spells to use so that he doesn't need to struggle with doing things in the way that everyone says that he should; the way that he cant seem to manage. but, even before richeh helped him with that though, he was still finding way to modify the "proper" spells a little bit to better suit his weaknesses. he was trying so hard to fit in to the mold that witch society gave him, but it just wasnt right for him and he was making it work however he could."

Westar -

"something something Westar's entire character is an anomaly amongst the other denizens of Labyrinth in that he's a big goofball in a world where everything is dictated to the extreme by its ruler. if that's not an autism metaphor of some kind I don't know what is."

Sousuke -

"Sousuke Sagara is an ex-child soldier turned teenage special ops who has to go undercover at a high school to discreetly bodyguard another student. The only problem is that he has no IDEA how to act like a "normal" teenager. Sure, you can say that a lot of his mannerisms come from the whole "raised as a child soldier" thing which, fair, you could make a decent case for (C)PTSD. However, he's also extremely serious and has notorious flat affect and does not understand when other people are joking at all. He's incredibly literal; there's several scenes where he misinterprets what someone says, like the time he asked the art teacher what a model was supposed to do and got a rambling flowery metaphorical response about "becoming one with nature" so he ran off to hide in the woods. Another thing, his social skills are… lackluster at best. He's very blunt, and also a terrible liar for an undercover agent, when the student in question confronted him his strategy was to repeat the same phrase over and over again. One time he's challenged to see if he can pick up any girls, and after a brief misunderstanding his "improved" flirting tactic was to jump in front of them and say "Hi! Would you like to know the names of defense agency spies?" Speaking of, Sousuke has an obvious special interest in the military tech and giant robots he works with. He reads their magazines for fun and was able to rattle off the specs for a model Russian tank. The first time he actually looks happy is when he accidentally starts infodumping in front of the class while introducing himself. One time he got distracted on a mission (and need I remind you, Sousuke takes his job VERY seriously) because he found someone who was also interested in the giant robots and got into a full-on conversation with them and completely forgot what he was doing. It is IMPOSSIBLE to read this boy as allistic. And sure, he might be a little stiff, but he's also very caring in his own awkward way. One time he gave a girl flowers as an apology gift…because they were poppies and he told the girl she could get rich by selling opium on the black market. The "picking up girls" challenge mentioned earlier ended with him helping a grandmother pick out a toy for her grandson. He agreed to pretend to be someone's boyfriend for a day (it went exactly how you'd expect, but it's the thought that counts). In conclusion: stan Sousuke Sagara. and vote for him too."

Katsuhira -

"His entire thing over the course of the entire show is that he doesn't feel pain or emotions like other people. He isn't 'interested in himself' or other people (low empathy) and doesn't realize that the things that happen to/because of him do effect other people, he doesn't realize when people have a crush on him or want to be friends, and all of this is stuff he kinda comes to realize as the show progresses. He struggles to care for himself physically because of the lack of physical and emotional input he experiences, and his friends canonically often cook for him and have to remind him to eat, and is a bit picky about what he eats. He cannot read social cues to save his life and is very blunt and honest when communicating with others, and doesn't talk with much tone or emotion in his voice."

"Is very loud and passionate and says everything he thinks out loud, not understanding why others may see that as weird. Has difficulty controlling his volume, so he's almost always shouting."

Yuuri -

"So he models his entire life around the first celebrity he gets a crush on. He's takes up that celebrity's hobby, he gets the same kind of dog that his crush has, and he definitely has his bedroom wallpaper with his crush's face. But then, he actually meets his crush. And his crush likes him back. Naturally he panics over this and proceeds to deny it for months until his crush straight up kisses him. Then like a day later, he just, buys a ring and proposed to his crush on the spot. He's the guy ever. He's so socially awkward, yet somehow still incredibly cocky."

God I hate it when people say that Magical Girls are too dark nowadays. Like, c'mon magical girls have been dark since the dawn of the genre.

You guys want an anime like Sailor Moon again and yet fail to realize that Sailor Moon itself is dark as fuck. Literally in the first finale of the show, all the Sailor guardians fucking die. Sure they're brought back to life but still.

Also, I get the hate towards the Madoka copycats. I get it. But most of these copycats aren't copycats. Daybreak Illusion, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, and Magical Girl Raising Project are all there stories. Except Magical Girl Site I guess.

Also Princess Tutu, Fresh Precure, and Heartcatch Precure are all pretty dark before Madoka Magica came to be. (Although Heartcatch was the inspiration for Madoka Magica)

You want more light hearted magical girls? Well, you won't get much because in every magical girl show you will get something dark. Even in western shows. For example, Lolirock, the main villian has probably killed multiple people during his reign. This includes Talia's and possibly Iris's parents.

Even the most light hearted of shows aren't safe from this. Except Magical Angel Creamy Mami. I haven't made it so far to the anime so it's probably a cute title.

Anyways, if you want a more cute magical girl story, then maybe make one your own. Do a webcomic, a small short series, or even just make OCs based on the ideas.

Why am I even ranting about this? Well, I remember seeing a post that says that Hirogaru Sky Precure was already (and I'm exaggerating a bit here) dead to them because of spoilers. Let's just say that the season was already getting into dark territory by that point.

I'm not going to name who that was (because I forgot) but dark Precure seasons already exist. The aforementioned Fresh and Heartcatch Pretty Cure are all considered the darkest seasons of Precure and they were successful. Especially Fresh, since that season basically saved the whole franchise.

Dark magical girl series are here to stay. They have been around for quite around now and they won't stop anytime soon. The only magical girl series that I want to see made fun of is Magical Girl Site. Anyways that's it. It's just a little rant I have about the magical girl fanbase.

I should do the same thing for the Vocaloid fanbase too because holy hell I hate the gatekeeping in that fandom.

Closing thoughts on Precure Mirai Days

This one started stronger than it ended, though it was still better than Otona.

First things first, no Cure Hisui. And not even a new Hisui style Cure Felice form either, and they even baited me by showing Ha-chan with teal hair for 0,5 seconds before having her just do her regular transformation. Booo! And also no new powerup form for Mirai and Liko for that matter, though in the name of fairness it should be reminded that they did get new regular transformed forms, so the show did clear that bar at least.

In general Hisui was the main thing that interested me about this show, and unfortunately I feel they kind of dropped the ball on her story wise as well. She disappeared and was replaced by Ha-chan mid-story, and I expected her to reappear and do something meaningful by the end, but nothing really came out of that. So in the end it felt like she was just a placeholder for Ha-chan and something new to use to advertise the show, when in the end it was about the old characters again. Granted Hisui was kind of annoying with how bratty she was and I very much prefer Ha-chan over her, but I like her design and voice, I'm always a sucker for this kind of cloned/otherwise related characters, and she was the new and refreshing element of the story, so I would really have liked to see her be more relevant.

Other than that the story was alright, and as stated earlier I enjoyed it considerably more than Otona. Which really suffered from the fact that it had so many characters that ultimately didn't have a lot to do, while Mirai Days gets to be more focused with its smaller cast. And the mahou side of the story in Otona was kind of a mess if I can remember right. Though I'd say that the mundane "here's what life is for young women in Japanese society" side in Otona was stronger than Mirai Days' version, and that Otona's highs were higher than those of Mirai Days, even if the overall package was weaker because its lows were ~low~.

Aside from me liking Hisui for mostly superficial reasons, the unexpected MVP turned out to be Mofurun again. She just had quite many funny/memeable moments, like the "I'm stress eating" thing or when she asked if Mirai is drunk, in a Precure context the mascot behaving like this fresh. And her chill personality is as great as always. Also a shoutout to Mirai who otherwise was a Meh tier girl for me, but I think I'll bump the sequel version up to Ok tier. Ha-chan still best girl though.

I hope they'll make more adult-oriented Precure sequels in the future, though it'd be nice to have some other theme than "time" again.

2025 Media: 13. Witchy Pretty Cure! (2016) - 9/10★ TLDR: I won't lie this could've been miles better if they focused more on the magical world but at the same time it felt unique & the dynamics between the cast made me care so much about them as a group of characters that I'm going to miss them TwT Spoilers + yap underneath cut <3

There was a lot about this season that felt unique. The two protags being from different worlds was interesting but I do wish they leaned into that more. Mirai and Riko were supposed to be opposites however it felt that Riko was watered down quite quickly imo. From the way the I've seen her spoken about in the fandom I thought she'd be more...more, I guess. At the beginning she felt really interesting and complex and it kinda fizzled down for most of the season. Though I do appreciate that all of the cast got enough focus and it wasn't primarly Mirai! Speaking of characters, Ha-chan was so much fun and also felt unique as a mid-season! And, I honestly loved Mofurun and her dynamic with Mirai a lot. Their dynamic as a group was unique and something we've never seen before and I really enjoyed it! The side characters were really a really welcome addition and though it took quite a while for me to end up caring either way about the villains, by the end there were definitely a few I really enjoyed! So overall, I feel like the cast was quite strong this season <3 At the beginning of the season I thought we'd be spending the majority of the season in the Magical World, which would be the more fun option seeing as we're normally in...a normal world, but by the end it did feel quite unbalanced. I can't tell if we really did spend more time in the Non-Magic world or it just felt that way because I kept wishing we weren't in it. This series could've EASILY been a 10/10 for me if we spent the majority in the Magical World instead if I'm honest. Despite that, the plot felt like it strayed from the normal precure formula imo. The two sets of villains. The pacing. The multiple forms they can transform into (though I'm upset Cure Felice didn't get alt forms and honestly I didn't enjoy the combat this season besides in their Topaz form tbh,) The ending showing the future for the first time and the first time the next lead cure is shown before the new season airs. It did feel like they breathed some freshness into the franchise with this one. However, I do feel like the ending battle was really quick and quite anticlimatic. Usually it spans multiple episodes of doom-and-gloom, but it was kinda... half an episode, which I can't say I loved. Regardless of my complaints I did enjoy this season a lot and by the end felt like...wow I'm going to miss them, so I think they did a good job <3 Fave eps: 5, 6, 15, 20-26, 28, 29, 33, 36-41, 45, 49, 50 Fave character: Mofurun / Cure Felice <3
