The french are pretty xenophobic as a population but arguably the most (non violent) xenophobic thing they did is invent verlan. That shit is anti- people who dont speak french as a first language. Imagine learning a whole language and when you get there, fully confident in your abilities, you find that everybody actually speaks the upside down version of it. How fucked up is that.
