walking home on a winter morning after dancing all night with a mysterious stranger | waltz loop 1hr
the rising winter sun shines clear and bright, casting the city in gold. you take this as an auspicious start to a new year. it feels like abundance. it feels like hope. tucking your chin into your scarf, you can’t help but smile, giddy, as you recall the night you just had.
dressed in sparkling midnight blue—the fanciest thing you have ever worn, by far—you almost looked like you belonged in the swanky hotel ballroom, at the fancy party your brilliant, rich friend had dolled you up for. honestly, you almost felt like you belonged. the people there were so nice, when they thought that you were one of them. especially…
you tug at the loop of your scarf, suddenly a little too hot, even in the cold morning air, at the memory of that sharp tuxedo, the large, warm hand at your waist when you danced.
yes, you decide. an auspicious start to a new year.

inventing backstories for the people who pass by your parisian cafe table | waltz loop 2hrs
"you see that man there," she leans over to whisper conspiratorially, gesturing with her gaze to a man on the far side of the boulevard with large and unflattering whiskers. "i heard that he lost much of his fortune in a scheme about a canal in the americas."
"oh i do believe i heard the same thing. he was taken in by a roguish swindler, who, if i'm not mistaken, has just turned onto this street. you see him, there, with the gaudy waistcoat?"
"yes i see him! they're walking straight for each other. however will this play out? will they exchange pleasantries? pretend there is no ill feeling between them? or will there be a violent confrontation, perhaps? are we about to witness the issuance of a duel?"
the men, of course, being complete strangers to one another, do no such thing.
"what a snub! not even a tip of their hats! oh the blood between them is bad, indeed." locking eyes with your dearest of friends, you cannot suppress the giggle that bubbles forth now. oh that every day were so carefree.
