WTF!!!!!
We have lived here in DE since Sept. 2020. The first thing we noticed that it almost never snows and the temps are very mild in the winter. Coming from PA, this was a huge difference.
When we moved into this house, we learned that the heat was propane. We also learned that to have the 124 gallon propane tank filled would cost us $500 which includes the delivery fee but not the $92/hr service fee. We never had the money, so we have not had propane heat at all. Two electric heaters were lent to us, and that is our heat. Mind you, the electric bill has gone through the roof because of them, and I have no clue how the frick I am going to be able to pay it.
This past 2 weeks, the temps have been upper 20s to low 30s at night. Cold. It even snowed a bit 2 days ago.
I noticed the temp just now, and it is 17 out. WTF!?!? It's cold in the house with both heaters going full blast. I hope to God the pipes don't freeze. Of all the times for the temps to get that cold it's when we have no propane, no money, and only 2 small electric heaters.
We are about to be homeless again, and these are the temps we may be facing. I am freaking out over here.

the rumblings about the Batman 2 setting reminded me of how cool a snowed-in Gotham would be for a fic or movie setting. power/electricity grid is either out or about to fail. people are trapped in their homes and apartments by ten and fifteen foot drifts, with more snow inbound. the city breaks down within hours, as people abandon their jobs (cough, Arkham) and try to escape the city.
The Bat enters a new version of a familiar playground, an iced over city where cars can’t drive, grapple lines don’t catch, and frostbite sets in within minutes of exposing skin. How do you protect your city? The vulnerable freezing to death? How do you connect aid stations and Good Samaritans to the people who need help when Gotham’s criminal underbelly has decided now is the time to fight back?

you know what it's only fitting i ask this
some clarifications on the options below cut 👇
calm sunny days can refer to both warm days and cool days - whichever you prefer (or if you're a fan of both).
i would rather foggy and overcast be separate, but i don't have enough poll options (sad!). however they are both rather moody. feel free to clarify if you only like one or the other though.
some cool looking clouds include: nacreous clouds, horseshoe clouds, lenticular clouds ... maybe even those bright colorful sunsets. point being you love a nice aesthetic clouds (i do too).
for tornadoes ill accept waterspouts (since -spouts are just a term for non-mesocyclone tornadoes). landspouts also exist. i dont think dust devils (and other -devils) really count here, as even though they are vortexes they're not considered to be tornadoes.
severe thunderstorm warning stuff can refer to: hail, strong winds (such as those formed by derechos), and mesocyclones which don't spawn tornadoes but look cool anyway.
space weather is. technically meteorological as well. i also just learned that there are things known as space tornadoes??? there are also space hurricanes. both can spawn auroras. if your favorite weather occurs on a different planet you can vote here as well. :)
forgive me if i missed your favorite weather, there's quite A Lot that can occur in the skies and its challenging including everything. :') i admittedly couldn't really squeeze in rainbows anywhere, despite really liking them.

Listen, I went over to a friend yesterday and while I don't see him like that... *Jesus*. We were eating and he was doing this growl/groan thing? Idk if it's a guy thing but that *sound* fucked me over. Just picturing now any of the guys doing it when eating something you cooked for them and wiggling in my seat because the sounds getting to me 😵‍💫😩
this has me thinking of you having a horrific craving for something sweet, like your teeth ache from how badly you want it and when the guys finally cave and bring home some ice cream or something, you get maybe 3 big ol spoonfuls before you're being ate out on the couch.
ghoap are putting said ice cream on their cock after, telling you to go on n give it a taste 😌

hawkeye being constantly cold and trapper being his personal heater, shoving his hands under his shirt/sweater to warm them up, shivering in his cot until he hears a heavy sigh, a rustle of blankets and a ''okay, come on in then...'' or a ''get your butt in here before you catch pneumonia'' hawkeye quick as a flash snuggled up next to trap trying to get as much of his body pressed against that warm curly haired heater he loves so much

As cold weather sweeps across the U.S., some electric vehicle owners are learning a bitter truth: Low temperatures can stop the cars dead in their icy tracks.
The issue crystallized this week when some Tesla owners in Chicago discovered their EVs' batteries had died in sub-zero temperatures. Drivers also said some of Tesla charging stations weren't working, or if they did work that the stations were taking longer than usual to charge up their vehicles.
“I've been here for over five hours at this point, and I still have not gotten to charge my car,” Tesla driver Brandon Welbourne told CBS Chicago. “A charge that should take 45 minutes is taking two hours.”
What happens to electric vehicles in cold weather?
Here's what to know.
Electric vehicles are less efficient in cold weather, with Recurrent's research finding that below-freezing temperatures reduced driving range up to 30% on 18 popular EV models.
An EV with a 200 to 215 mile range may only go 150 to 175 miles in the cold, Recurrent's Case said, while noting even that reduced mileage is often sufficient for most drivers. “The average person with an EV drives 30 miles a day,” he said.
Still, a shorter range in cold weather could be an issue for some owners if their EV runs out of juice miles earlier than expected, potentially leaving to hunt for an available charger or, worse, stranded in dangerously frigid conditions.

Really?!?!
We moved to Delaware from PA in 2020. One of the very first things we noticed is that is never really gets as cold here as it does in PA. Winters in DE are mild with no snow. In PA, it wasn't uncommon to have temps in the single digits and windchills below 0.
Our new home uses propane for heat. When we moved in, we didn't even think about having to get the tank filled, since it was still in the 60s here at night. Boy, we were wrong.
Last night's temp sank to 33. There were frost warnings, and the house got cold. Even I was cold which almost never happens. @helly-watermelonsmellinfellon froze her arse off on the floor.
The problem? We don't have the money to fill the propane tank. It's 124 lb tank at $2.27 per gallon. The landlord stressed to Dave last week that we need to get the heat going because the pipes may burst if we don't. Apparently, the last people that lived here destroyed the place and never had heat, so all the pipes burst.
The propane company will not bills us. They want to money at the time of delivery. Neither myself nor Dave have good enough credit. So, we're screwed again.
We could use some help. Tonight's temp is going to be below freezing. We need to get the propane asap.

men in my office look at me like i shouldnt be there meanwhile they’re sitting there saying dry ice is more dangerous than liquid nitrogen. they’re saying -78C is more dangerous than -196C. without even considering the temperature itself, liquid nitrogen has a greater capacity to displace oxygen and cause asphyxiation. if liquid nitrogen spills on the ground u could literally die. if u drop a chunk of dry ice on the ground you’ll literally be fine. or even if you accidentally touch dry ice for a second, yes it’s cold but it likely won’t cause permanent damage. liquid nitrogen? you get some of that on your bare skin and it is so over.
