Stacking is so weird/interesting. Her topline looks so different in these photos
This is why people who show dogs will warn non-confo people not to take a photo out of context for judging that dog’s structure. The angle of the camera and the exact placement of the feet can provide radically different views of the same dog. Sushi’s back feet are further apart but not quite out behind her far enough, and her head is tilted back too far, which changes her topline dramatically compared to when her back feet are closer together, she’s posting with her front legs, and her head is in a natural placement as in the photos I took of her in my job’s parking lot as she watched the truck guys.
This is also why a lot of people emphasize setting a dog up with freestacking- telling a dog to pose with their feet balanced under them in the most natural way possible is probably the best way to get a truly accurate look at that dog’s structure, because if it is not comfortable for a dog to get into an extreme stack naturally then the dog is not going to do it by themselves and will need to be manipulated into place. This is why, for example, the subtle differences in the GSD stacks produce such dramatically different results, and why various breeds require a dog to walk into a freestack so the judge can see what is actually comfortable for the dog vs what a skilled handler can manipulate a tolerant dog into.
We are practicing walking into a freestack and also being manipulated, and because she is very sensitive a lot of the way I push and pull her into place is simply luring her into moving one leg at a time. I’ve seen confo dobe people use vocal commands for this too! We only attended a single session so far so we are very new to this and definitely not that advanced.

The Malamute Best of Breed from Westminster
You can view the video of the judging HERE
Now on to the dogs and my thoughts:

I was personally not a fan of this dog, his front pasterns are worrying and i was not a fan of his back angulation (straighter than I prefer). His shoulder was also fairly straight.
GCHB CH Sno Ridge's Ty On Another Wild Won
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I liked him a lot! He got select dog. Nice front with well angled shoulders, pasterns aren’t too straight, but aren’t too let down either. Back end has more angulation and balance, coat is moderate and correct (this dog is genetically short coat while the first dog was a carrier for long coat). Also he looks goofy!
GCH CH Snocreek's Limited Edition
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I liked this dog a lot too, well balanced in angulation, but straighter through the pasterns then I prefer, really nice angulation of shoulder with a good chest. Smaller male with correct coat.
GCHG CH Onak's Touch Of Gold (WPDX pending)

You already know I like this dog (he won Award of Merit at the show) but he’s also the ONLY one in the ring with a breed specific working title. He is a longer male with nice angulation (his real angulation is VERY nice), shoulder and chest. Long coat carrier so a little fluffier than I prefer, was very VERY active and naughty running around the ring.
GCHP CH Taolanquest Flying Cloud
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s a really nice dog (won Best of Breed), would be very capable of work if put to task. Balanced angulation, EXCELLENT shoulder and fore chest, rear angulation is really nice. I can see why he got BOB, just wish they would work him because he’s a really good looking boy.
GCHG CH Tugar's Taking On Tyson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A BIG boy, was harder to get a good shot of him. A little straight through the rear and his front pasterns are straighter than I like, but in balance with his rear angulation, nice shoulder, decent chest.
GCH CH Skyblue Pale Moon'N Qavvik's Moonlight Reflection
Tumblr media
A very out of coat bitch with a nice long tail and good length of body, if not freestacked her angulation is probably very in balance (she got select bitch).
GCHB CH Aria De Kabluna
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I LOVE this bitch (she got best of opposite). Beautifully balanced, excellent angulation (front pasterns again a bit straighter than I prefer), great shoulder and chest area, correct moderate coat.
GCH CH Adair N' Hug K'Eyush RI CGC TKA
Tumblr media
This girl was wiggly and happy in the ring so hard to get a shot of but a bigger female with balanced angulation and moderate correct coat. Hard to tell what her shoulder/chest situation is like.
