Landing more accurate hits in melee is fun

shooting a crossbow (I've spent hundreds of hours in ds3 doing that)

Landing incantations and sorceries is amazing

You're sacrificing a lot of utility if you're constantly locked on. Freeaiming is counterintuitive, but once you get the hang of it you can pull off some really sick shots!

Mandatory for players of higher skill levels.

Yesterday I lost an invasion because I tried to shoot two guys with a bow from high ground, but the host freeaimed a boulder right at my feet and managed to throw me off that ledge and kill me. And I remember thinking "wow I got outplayed, that doesn't happen often".

Getting outplayed is the most common reason to lose in any normal videogame but in ER it's a novelty for me because my most common cause of death isn't getting outplayed it's having 3 guys up my ass.

Elden Ring is so oppressive towards invaders it's kinda making the game worse for everyone because there is so little space to just fuck around?

and then wasn't Vindictus like the "sequel" to it?? god that game started out so buggy but around when I stopped playing they finally had like 8 classes when they originally started with i think 2. that shit was SO good when it worked i fucking loved it but noone would play with me. it was like hack & slash MMO like what I really wanted Blade&Soul to be years later, and the fashion armor was delicious... i wonder if either of these games still exist. they were so good for free games like holy shiiiit
