A quick impromptu synastry analysis of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. because it's perf

Have you guys noticed that Sarah Michelle Gellar is now everywhere on social media? I watched her on Jimmy Fallon and she said she's been married to Freddie Prinze jr for 20 years! So I immediately looked at her chart, unfortunately it's untimed (now, astro-seek states an Aquarius rising and the source is astro.com but that one has an untimed chart so idk where's that alleged 03:08am is from soooo). BUT, I looked at his and he has Jupiter in the 7th house! Exalted by triplicity in Aries! (god I love aries jupiter).

So I thought, THERE'S HOPE FOR ME with my 7th house Jupiter 😁

I got super stoked because once again, astrology worked. Also, their synastry is bomb (and I was supposed to do something else right now but I have to talk about it).

First off, what I've already talked about, he has Jupiter in the 7th in Aries. She has Sun in Aries conjunct it. If you've ever seen me talk about these two planets together in fire signs, you may know that I like to call this combo a "royal aspect" - Sun is exalted in Aries, Jupiter is, like I've already said, exalted by triplicity. Have them together connected in any way (can as well be by synastry) and you're spritzed with glitter and confetti. Like, congrats, you've won the lottery.

Another nice thing that immediately jumped out at me is his Sun being conjunct her Moon (now we don't know the exact degree of her Moon but it's around there). A person's Moon in the sign of the other's Sun sign in synastry chart is weak-at-the-knees aspect but also v friendly and nurturing: it's the yin and yang, it's just very complimentary. There's also her Mars, which can add a bit of tension (and a bit of tension is always needed), but the rest of their aspects are harmonious so it's all cool.

Her Venus is conjunct his descendant, which is v nice, their Mercuries are sextiled by sign; so are their Venuses. Both have mutable Mars placements so they're squared and so are their Moons, but remember that harmonious benefic aspects (especially Jupiter as it's very forgiving) in synastry can smooth out any difficulties. And speaking of which, they have compatible Jupiters in sextiled signs, and her Gemini Jupiter must feel nice for his Gemini Moon 🤗

Now that's not all, look at the chart of their wedding:

Jupiter in Leo, echoing their Sun-Jupiter aspect in Aries (IF she is an Aqua rising, that'd be her 7th house). Moon was either in Gemini or Cancer, both fine considering Gemini would be his Moon return and Cancer is obviously Moon's domicile sign. Saturn's influence over the Moon shouldn't be a problem since it trines a domicile Libra Venus and Aquarius Uranus, making a grand trine (that's like an exciting energy, yet grounded and harmonious). Mercury is sextiling Jupiter (both planets stand for legal stuff) and the Sun-Mars conjunction in Virgo mirrors their conjunction in the opposite sign of Pisces. The north node in the sign of his natal Moon/Mars and her Jupiter seems meaningful as well - the north node transiting natal Moon can point to changes in home/living situation or some sort of exaltation surrounding one's emotions or women in one's life.

Additional info is that they got engaged in April 2001 when Jupiter was in Gemini (her Jupiter return) and - what's VERY interesting, Venus was retrograding in Aries - she has a natal rx Aries Venus. But also that Venus was retrograding in his 7th house! I know, fascinating.

Nitpicking at Astrology with a Virgo #1

*✧ Pisces don’t like to take other people’s advice mainly because they’re stuck in their delulu Neptunian land. So naturally, they’ll only listen to your advice/wisdom/opinion only if it’s feeding into their nonlogical mindset.

*✧ Even though Virgo’s and Gemini’s are squared, they get along super well since they both rule over mercury. They’re very much the iconic duo when it comes to thinking and communicating.

*✧ All of GenZ has a Sagittarius Pluto. So anyone born from November 10, 1995- January 25, 2008, and June 14, 2008-November 26, 2008 is astrologically Gen-Z.

*✧ Speaking of Pluto, our greatest generational planet, the new dawning of the age of Aquarius is March 23, 2023. Mark it down.

*✧ Earth Mercury natives (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) have the most beautiful voices. Capricorn’s have a more breathy tone, Taurus is more raspy, and Virgo is just grounding.

*✧ Speaking of voices, famous singers often have Mercury conjunct a personal planet which makes their voices stand out. I’ve realized it’s more amplified when it’s in Earth signs as well. For example: Amy Winehouse, V and Jungkook from BTS, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Joan Jett, Lizzo, etc.

*✧ Cancer’s sometimes have a darker aesthetic/aura than Scorpio. Unless it’s paired with libra or Taurus, they can have a darker aesthetic, but more pleasing and approachable than Scorpio.

*✧ Scorpio’s very rarely lay their cards down before anybody else does, so if they open up about something before you do, you mean a lot to them. Also they aren’t their necessarily the ones to want to know everything about you right off the bat. They want to have a balanced kind of friendship/relationship with the person they’re with, so if they feel they aren’t getting as much from you as they gave to you, THEN they will try to get to know everything about you just so they have dirt on you when shit goes down.

*✧ Pisces and Libra tend to look at the best in people. So when someone’s getting a bad rep or being misunderstood, they’ll be the most loyal and most likely the first to stand up for you.

*✧ Aries are actually a lot more quiet and standoffish in person. It’s when you become apart of their life that they become a complete freak show.

*✧ Same with Gemini. They’re very loud and funny and the best to hang out with, but at first they’re really quiet and polite and reserved, which really is not the case once you get to know them

*✧ Sagittarius in personal planets (especially moon and mars) really suck at closure. Like they’re deadass the ones to ghost you after you start to expect the bare minimum to them💀💀

*✧ The house that your Saturn lies in can help show how karma takes a hold on people that betrayed you in some way.

*✧ Having Jupiter in your tenth can show a lot of wealth or financial gain throughout your life. Depending on what sign your house is in, that can show where your money would come from (ex. Leo in tenth natives can be great entertainers and can work in the film industry)

*✧ Having a personal planet in retrograde isn’t bad. It helps emphasize that you need to relearn how to operate under that planet. For example, if you have your moon in retrograde, you tend to look back on your emotions/emotional periods in your life before you grow as an individual. Having a planet in retrograde can also make you great at helping other people process their emotions/thoughts/karma whatever.

*✧ scorpio in the 12th can be a haunting placement to have. These individuals worst fear is their own subconscious and thoughts. They may be prone to have a fear of mirrors/past lives/and the idea of doppelgängers. People with this placement have a tendency to either keep everything bottled up or overly express themselves in hopes that people will accept them, when honestly either outcome leads to people perceiving them as sketchy and secretive.

*✧ Leo and Aquarius are opposite signs that I find most intriguing. Aquarius finds it annoying when people follow/copy them or the status quo, while Leo admires having multiple followers and even attempts to gain more recognition and appreciation. They’re both the most showy, outstanding, and individualized signs, but they both have a problem when it comes to fame and recognition. With Aquarius they struggle with the social environment and Leo struggles with their personal environment.

*✧Venus signs get the rep that you’re going to marry/date the sign your venus is in, when in actuality you’ll be better off with someone that fits your Mars sign. Your Mars deals with your sexuality, energy, and self expression, so whatever you put out in the world you get back.

*✧ I’ve also noticed that people with their venus/Mars conjunct usually have the most idealistic relationships because their way of expressing their love and themselves fits well with their partner. People with venus/Mars opposition can have a harder time deciphering what they envision their partner to be and who their part we really is. It’s hard for them to pick apart if they really like their partner for who they are or the idea of what they could be/expect them to be.

*✧ Cancer Mars/Venus natives are one of the kinkiest placements to have in astrology when it comes to sex lmao

*✧ Having venus/libra in your 11th house can make you have trouble understanding romantic feelings/gestures with platonic feelings/gestures. These people could strive for a relationship that relies on being close friends, or even have a friends-lovers situation. *This could be heightened with Aries venus in 11th house ruled by libra

*✧ Capricorn moon natives are some of the most ethereal and caregiving people. Capricorn is associated with the father, rules, orders, finances, and work. When someone’s moon is in Capricorn it can show someone who’s both very protective of their feelings, but even more protective of their loved one’s. I’ve noticed they feel so deeply when they witness someone they love having a hard time (especially with emotional/mental battles) because it’s not something they can easily fix or advise on. *✧ Speaking of protecting, the difference between scorpio and Taurus is Taurus is more so possessive of everyone and everything in their life while scorpio is more protecting. Taurus loves to spoil themselves and others and tend to become possessive because of all the time, energy, and money they devote to close ones. Scorpio on the other hand value closeness on a spiritual level and need constant reassurance that they’re understood when it comes to their feelings and thoughts. Because of that worry and fear they become protective of the few people that are able to understand them the way they do.

*✧ I believe scorpio has a thing where they know how much they hurt and feel that if someone can empathize with them, it’s both reassuring and distressing. They like it because they’re able to feel like they belong, but they also hate it because they never want anyone to hurt the same way they do. This can apply more for Scorpio moon natives or moon in the 8th house.

*✧ Having capricorn in Neptune gets a rep of being boring and too narrow visioned. This is true but it also shows a generation of people who know what they’re capable of achieving without focusing too much on what COULD be. It can have be more “boring” if someone had Saturn in the 12th house that was ruled by another earth sign, but this mainly just shows a generation of people that are capable of getting stuff done that needs to get done and being influencers for the next generation to look up to.

oops!! looks like you accidentally stumbled upon one of of my dormant hyperfixations!! 🤠🤠🤠 i’m SO into astrology dude skjfhskfj like is it real? probably not. but is it fun as hell to read about and judge people based on? yes yes yes yes yes!

anyway this ended up getting super long because i have a lot of thoughts™ about it so i'm putting everything under the cut!! disclaimer: i literally just do this for fun and everything i know about astrology i learned from various websites and an astrology book i found at value village so if anything isn’t right mind your business fskjdfshkfj and ALSO please don’t read too much into this lmao it’s just for funsies 💖

so anyway YES you’re right, there 100% is a difference between john and roger’s type of leo, and it probably has to do with the fact that they fall into different decans of leo!! so essentially each sign is split up into three different “versions” of the sign depending on the positioning of the planets when they were born. the exact dates can vary slightly, but for leo the first decan (the “true leo”) is from july 23rd - august 1st (this is where roger falls), the second decan is august 2nd - august 12th, and the third decan is august 13th - august 22 (which is where john falls).

so roger, being born on july 26th, is a first decan leo. the characteristics of this placement are things like being really extroverted, loud, self-reliant, creative, wanting attention, having a sensitive ego; so very much the traditional leo. meanwhile, john is a third decan leo, which is a placement that’s known more for ambition, honesty, stubbornness, independence, and dynamism. so that could definitely be where some of their differences come from (although i’m not convinced that the qualities of the third decan leo actually fit john all that well, but i suppose none of actually really knew him so we can’t know for sure).

BUT, it’s also super important to look at the rest of john and roger’s natal charts in addition to just their sun signs, since they were born two years apart and therefore they have a lot of differences in the major planets in their charts.

so roger’s birth time is actually online for some reason, apparently he was born at 10:30 AM on july 26th 1949. so assuming that this time is accurate (even if it isn’t the only things that would change are his ascendant and possibly his moon), here is his chart:

we don’t know what time john was born, so we don’t know his ascendant and we can’t be certain of his moon, but we do know that he was born on august 19th 1951 so based on that here is his chart:

so as you can see, there are some pretty significant differences in their planets. starting with the moon, which represents things like emotion, emotional response, and self image, roger has a leo moon while john (most likely) has a pisces moon.

leo moons are typically outgoing, like to be the centre of attention, pretty popular, and tend to take on a comic sort of role because they like making people laugh. they have a really strong sense of fairness and justice, and they’re known for being dramatic and prone to sulking and causing a scene when their pride has been hurt. imo the leo moon very clearly fits roger pretty well skjfhsdkjfhs

on the other hand, john is a pisces moon, which is a placement thats know for being really intuitive, perceptive, sometimes dreamy, and compassionate because they feel things really deeply. pisces moons are also imaginative, warm, sentimental and empathetic, and known for having kind of a weird sense of humor; one of the sites i use as a reference for astrology actually described it as “a strong sense of humor that is more of the receptive kind than the type of sense of humor that would make people the ‘life of the party,’” and “it's generally pretty easy to get them giggling” (which imo is pretty spot on according to what we know about john and the stories we’ve heard about him)! pisces moons also have a tendency to get overwhelmed with life easily and then need time away from eveything to escape and recharge (fucking off to bali anyone??)

i'm not gonna really talk about ascendants because we don't know john's and the point of this is comparing his chart with roger’s, BUT i just have to say that roger is a virgo rising, and typically people get on really well and have strong connections with people who's sun sign is the same as their rising sign…… and of course, freddie is a virgo sun 🥺🥺🥺 and literally every time i remember that it just makes me so soft so i had to mention it fksjhfkjshfk

moving on to mercury, roger’s mercury is in leo and john’s is in virgo. mercury is the planet that rules things of the mind like communication, intellect, and memory. so starting with roger, leo mercurys are typically incredibly passionate, good at things like public speaking and performing, and very much draw the spotlight towards themselves, whether intentionally or unintentionally. they're confident, enthusiastic, have a flair for the dramatic, and seem to make new friends effortlessly. people with mercury in virgo on the other hand tend to be much more grounded and analytical. they’re efficient and sharp thinkers, very intelligent, practical, and they like things that challenge their minds and are drawn to people that can keep up with them. john was born with mercury in retrograde though, which can cause people to struggle with self doubt and be prone to anxiety and difficulty expressing themselves.

now on to venus. venus is the planet that rules love, romance, and what we value and take pleasure in in life. roger’s venus is in leo, while john’s is in virgo. leo venuses like roger are known for being warm, genuine, and grand in love. they’re prone to big gesture in their relationships, and they have a deep need to feel desired and wanted by their partners and can get hurt when they don’t feel like their lovers are showing them enough love. they're really loyal, but need a lot of attention from their lovers and have high expectations. on the other hand, people with venus in virgo like john are known for loving and showing love in quieter and more understated ways, unlike leo venuses who are more of the ‘shout it from the rooftops' variety. they show their love through dedication and willingness to work on a relationship, and they work really hard on doing "the little things'' to show their partner that they care, and they need to feel recognized and appreciated by their partners for doing these things. they're very devoted and sensitive in love, really genuine, and can be quite shy. john was born with venus in retrograde though, and people born during venus retrogrades tend to feel things very deeply but struggle with awkwardness and insecurity in expressing those feelings and their love. they take relationships really seriously and they love very deeply, but they can struggle with self-sabotage in their relationships because they usually have a lot of underlying insecurities and fears that they aren't good enough or loveable enough.

finally, mars is the planet that rules things like passion, anger, sex, desire, actions and energy. roger's mars is in cancer, while john’s is in leo. people with a cancer mars like roger can be prone to passive-aggressiveness and become defensive as a means of self protection when they feel threatened, but they're incredibly protective over the people they care about. also, fun fact— i read something that said mars in cancer is known as the sign most attracted to breasts, sooooo i guess roger is a tits guy confirmed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ on the other hand, people with mars in leo like john tend to be high in passion and desire, and usually have well defined goals and ambitions in their lives. they're also known as one of the most sexual positions of the zodiac, and they tend to enjoy sex more than most, but they typically have a strong need for love and romance to be an integral part of sex. they want their partners to be devoted to them, and can be prone to becoming jealous and possessive of their partner but will usually try to hide it.

there are ofc a bunch of other placements in natal charts that we could go into, but these 6 that i’ve mentioned (sun, moon, ascendant, mercury, venus, and mars) are generally considered to be the major players. there are also things like aspects and houses and everything that can be analyzed to gain a better insight into someones chart but honestly i don't really understand them so i'm not gonna go into that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

but yeah so as we can see, even though john and roger have a lot of the typical qualities of a leo in common— hard-working, enjoying luxury, proud, bright, determined, noble, loyal— there are a whole bunch of factors that make them really really different despite their similarities!! because you’re totally right anon, roger and john are both leos, and imo you can tell that they’re both leos, but there’s also a certain energy about each of them that sets them apart from one another that’s SO fun to get into and explore!!!!!!!

Virgo

The ancient depiction of the Sign Virgo is that of a virgin holding a bundle of ripe wheat, gazing forewards.

There is an implicit contradiction in the image. To move forward, Virgo has to maintain non-attachment and not to be tainted by losing that state of flow and absorption in what they are doing by contracting to the tunnel vision of the goal and results of their vision. It is one reason why Virgo may seek selfless service, in order to regain the experience of flow.

Virgo and the Body

The relationship of the Virgo to the body. The Glyph of Virgo depicts the upper intestinal tract, where the perfection of the maintenance of the body results from re-organizing the results of digestion.

Sun in Virgo

Virgo seeks value, order and perfection in the processes around them. This brings a focus towards being practical, discriminating and analytical with a natural concern with the details and how to improve the way things work.

The natural state for Virgo is to be in the flow of doing, thinking and being. This can be achieved by absorption in work or process. Virgo is pulled out of their flow when their focus shifts towards the end product, result or goal. Moon in Virgo

With the Moon in Virgo there is a feeling or need for perfection through process. Feelings and health tend to be more closely connected, with greater sensitivity to criticism. Often the mother is experienced as critical or perfectionist.

When people with the Moon in Virgo succumb to self criticism, or fail to take care of their feelings, there tends to be a re-analyzing of past hurts and a greater sensitivity to criticism by others and towards themselves.

A simple example of this can be trying to fix a television without first checking if the problem is that it was not plugged in.

Transiting Sun enters Virgo

August 22 - September 22, 2017

First off, most of us are aware that, in ancient times, a Virgin wasn’t a sexually inexperienced young girl, right? It meant a young woman who hadn’t yet given birth to a child! A virgin was a young woman who belonged to herself alone - free from and immune to the whims of a dad, bro, or hubby. She was definitely not a piece of property to be passed from one male “protector” to the next. I’ve always seen Jane Eyre as a wonderful Virgo archetype. She could definitely take care of herself. And look at all those sexpot sultry actresses on the celebrity list! Who could ever own Sophia Loren? Finally, the Arch-Virgin, Elizabeth I: “I thank God I am endued with such qualities that if I were turned out of the Realm in my petticoat I were able to live in any place in Christendom.” Woo hoo, preach, sister!

I have to admit - as an experienced mom - it’s a hell of a lot easier to keep it together before you have kids, than afterward. (Even now that both of them are legal adults….) And the need for “keeping it together” is something we feel strongly when the Sun enters Virgo. In the US, school is starting up again, and the lazy summer routines (raises hand sullenly) must give way to the bustle of getting everyone where they’re supposed to be, in a timely manner. Not to mention, keeping track of what homework is due when.

It’s easier to swing all that if we’re healthy, and (once again) lazy summer habits need to give way to nutritious meals, moderate exercise, and adequate rest. We can’t “coast” now; we have to make an effort.

The goal is “to function efficiently” (as Bloch and George put it) - to be able at least to “keep it together.” Higher goals might include being useful to the tribe or smaller community, and working toward sustainability. There is also a hint of proving one’s worth, here. Leo’s mouth makes promises Virgo must keep? The sign of the Virgin can be seen as a reaction to the ego and arrogance of the Lion gone awry. These are the quiet heroes, getting things done.

It’s the usual mixed bag of aspects during the Sun’s jaunt through Virgo. I noticed that it will make “flowing” aspects to three of the four Lady Asteroids, which (in my peculiar astro cosmos-view) rule Virgo. Let’s use that, okay, troops?

Virgo is, by orientation, an interpersonal sign: its concern is with one-to-one relationships. So it’s fitting that the first (major) aspect the Sun will make is a trine to the “relationship” Lady Asteroid. We’ve all heard the adage, “If you want to make a friend, be one” - this is trying to tell us, “If you want a partner, be worthy of one.” For singles, this would be a great time to volunteer at the closest public school.

Considering that this is also Labor Day in the US - perhaps something we need to ponder, over our end-of-summer beers, is whether or not all this technology is good for our spirits and our Immortal Souls. It’s nice that my phone wakes me up, remembers my mom’s phone number, and sends me weather/Amber alerts. But what happens if the power grid fails and I can’t charge the damned thing? And what if I want a hug? Technology is fine as a virtual rooster, secretary, and town crier; it isn’t fine when I use it as a substitute for human contact.

Pallas is about to turn retrograde (on Monday the 11th). My hope for this trine is that the Sun/Virgo and its quest for efficiency helps Pallas/Taurus realize that we need new, more effective ways of training ourselves and others. Anything that’s “set in stone” (Taurus) ought not to be trusted. Virgo’s innate ability to sort the wheat from the chaff should be enormously helpful with this discernment process.
