Yay, Franziska! I love that she has such a large role in the Investigations games. It really helps her more subtle development, especially being around people she actually cares about (Miles) and is more open towards than what we see of her in the main series. I like that she kept her "perfect in every way like a von Karma" creed but pursues it in her own way independent from her father and independent from Miles even though she also fights for the truth now rather than just to win. That way she stands out as her own character and isn't just a copy of him and his arc. I especially love how well this gets shown through their interactions, they have such a great dynamic!

Sobbing thinking about how much I love Phoenix and Franziska's rivalry in Justice for All.

The fact that both of them are so attached to winning their cases because they don't know who they are outside of being a lawyer. Phoenix says "let me defend you" and Franziska says "our battle begins now" because they don't know how else to say "don't leave me behind". Phoenix hides his negative emotions because "for a lawyer, the worst of times are when you have to force your biggest smiles" and Franziska hides her vulnerability because "a Von Karma is someone who is destined to be perfect".

Both of them react with anger and bitterness at getting abandoned. Phoenix blames himself for Miles' disappearance and Franziska blames Phoenix because they'd rather do that than feel utterly helpless. And they are too busy fighting each other to realize they both love Miles, they both want to save him, but they're both incredibly wrong about how to do it.

Yeah I get that Edgeworth and Maya are besties who obsess over the steel samurai but that leaves Phoenix and Franziska time to hang out and you cannot tell me that they wouldn’t be a terrifying duo. They both get hurt in a way that would kill a lesser person and just end up at the courthouse like two days later to save the day running purely on spite and righteous fury. If their goals align they would be unstoppable and I am so serious. They meet up while their spouses are occupied with samurai con to go to the renaissance fair and immediately solve the murder at the renaissance fair.

I need disbarment era Phoenix weirdgirling all over Franziska’s interpol level crime scene. I think he should give her some weed to see if that would make the viewing experience of the steel samurai and other related franchises slightly more enjoyable. I think she needs some guy who can kick down doors to drag around when she doesn’t have Gumshoe access. She bullies him relentlessly and he’s just enjoying the nostalgia of it all.

I might be fucking biased and also very much an Edgeworth fan but just the concept of him being shown affection and love all around by his friends/family is such a sweet lovely concept to me I can't take it.

Gumshoe's always recommending new shows for Edgeworth to watch because he wants him to loosen up and once he finds himself actually watching them he gets really emotional because oh my god my friend knows my tastes and thought to recommend me this that's so sweet :(

Phoenix makes him a cup of tea to wake him up with and he's just sat there thinking "My god Wright is being so nice to me despite everything... he even knows how i like my tea :sob:" and Phoenix is just sitting there wondering if Miles is ever gonna actually drink the tea because he almost burned the house down earlier trying to make it

And then there's Franziska, who's just as emotionally repressed as him but also trying to be a better sister. They both research love languages and go "Hm. Yes. I am touching your shoulder. This is affectionate familial love, yes?" even though they've been leaning against each other in front of the laptop for the past hour

Okay I didn’t mean to accidentally come up with a new headcanon but I did. I think Franziska actually grows to care about Phoenix, considering he is her brother’s significant other and her girlfriend’s basically-brother. She gets embarrassed about it though because she has to maintain her Tough Girl Prosecutor look and can’t be showing sympathy for a defense attorney. When he gets disbarred, that wall still remains because she can’t be seen showing sympathy to a *disgraced* ex-defense attorney. However, she still feels like she should do something, so she masks her concern through the concern of the other loved ones. She ends up having movie nights with him (the same way Miles and Maya watch samurai stuff together) and they bond on the more cynical sides of the world, as well as deep down secret loves for musicals and pretty things. He becomes like a big brother for her in a way that Miles never really was because, while growing up, Franziska was often the one comforting Miles through his nightmares and trauma. That’s just one of the reasons why she refers to him as her “little brother”, as well as her just wanting to project herself as more in charge than she actually is. Franziska also develops a soft spot for hugs because she never really had them growing up. Miles isn’t really known to be the one to initiate hugs (although he does enjoy them), while the Wright Family (and this includes Maya) hugs ALL the time. Much like everyone else, Fran finds comfort in Phoenix’s hugs and is able to let her guard down with him (however, she tells him that if he tells *anyone* about this, she will kill him because she still needs to maintain her reputation as Tough and Scary for her career)

Phoenix and Franziska's relationship is honestly so underrated because people forget that Phoenix is just as petty as Franziska. If not more.

Like it's such a missed opportunity when (mostly wrightworth) fanfics act like Franziska completely hates Phoenix or that Phoenix fears Franziska when their canon relationship is way funnier than that.

Like when he beats her for the first time, he really thought gloating and taunting her was a good idea. Nevermind that she has a whip and has already used it on him several times before.

Phoenix gets on her level when it comes to pettiness and immaturity. In fact he's arguably worse.

And people forget that their antagonism towards each other in JFA mostly stems from their grief of Miles. Once Edgeworth returns and they can't resent each other for that anymore, their relationship in T&T is a lot more lighthearted.

Franziska whips him now more as a defense mechanism or to wipe that smug grin off his face and teases him for "Your American methods" and Phoenix thinks Pearl telling her off is hilarious and even finds Franziska almost cute at times.

Like, I know Miles is Franziska's brother and I don't want to take away from that, but you know the big brother who throws his young sibling across the room? That's what Phoenix and Franziska's relationship feels like to me.

i say this like every day of my life but the franziska and lang dynamic is so fucking underrated. franziska is the only prosecutor lang actually likes (aside from edgeworth eventually) and lang is the only person in the world who could falsely accuse franziska of murder and get away with it unscathed. the "getting shot and not giving a fuck" duo. ultimate wlw mlm solidarity. game recognizes game.

Franziska and Phoenix is such an underrated dynamic imho. Like obviously Franmaya and narumitsu are discussed at length and then Maya and Edgeworth steel samurai besties is too, and Fran and Nick are the only one left on that little group.

I like to think she genuinely likes him but would never admit it to him but he knows. He's used to bickering with someone who he genuinely cares about and recognises during and after BTTT that this is just how she communicates and meets her at her level. I like to think they bitch together about their siblings/partners and other just annoying things in their life. I think when he settles more into being with Edgeworth and Edgeworth himself softens out and becomes more affectionate, he kind of goes to her for the more brutal affectionate bickering because he kind of misses it given there's only so far Miles is willing to go anymore. It makes him kind of nostalgic.

I think she genuinely grows to respect him and likes that she knows the two people she cares about most are so close with someone who is so recklessly protective. She thinks he's a foolish idiot and will say as much to his face, regularly, but I think there's a level of comfort there for her in knowing that no matter what her little brother and girlfriend have someone so steadfastly protective in their corner.

I genuinely think that Gumshoe x Miles is an underrated ship in Ace Attorney. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the appeal of Phoenix and Miles, hell I enjoy reading the fics and browsing the tags. But I think so many focus on just those two. Focus on how well they ought to know each other, and completely miss out on the other relationships within the games. Platonic or not.

In the games it’s said and shown multiple times that Gumshoe and Miles have a close relationship. If you ignore the generalization of Gumshoe in the later games, which is a tragedy because Gumshoe was a really interesting character in this first game. He had more dimension, and if he was done right he could’ve portrayed a really interesting viewpoint that isn’t looked at that often. One that touches on how the people within the police system view it. Not to mention how this topic will always be an important thing to discuss, for those who rely on said system and those who work within and alongside it.

But I digress this post isn’t about that.

What this post is about, is that there is a lot more depth to Gumshoe and Miles relationship than I think both the games and fandom give it credit for. There is a trust there that I honestly think run deeper than the one portrayed by Phoenix and Miles. The fact that they’ve worked closely together for years before the first game starts. The fact that in the Investigation games we get a glimpse of how their dynamic works from Miles pov, which yeah we get it in the third game but there’s something more to it in the Investigations games in my opinion. Also in the DLC of the first game, the fact that Gumshoe left Miles the brochure for that lunch place, will always make me smile. It’s the fact that it was such a natural thing, a simple “hey I know you aren’t doing well, here’s a thing I think you might like.”

Not to mention that Gumshoe was the only one who knew Miles was alive during That Year? No one seems to actually talk about that. Putting aside what I think the letter meant, the fact that not even Franziska, Miles’s sister knew if he was alive or not. But Gumshoe knew? Guys. Guys.

Again, I get the draw of Wrightworth. I do, I was also very attached to the ship when I first got into the franchise and fandom. But I do think that there is something to be said about the other relationships portrayed in game that aren’t overly stated.

Ace Attorney is a real progressive franchise considering the time it was created in, I mean like.. - Platonic relationships between a guy character and a girl character, in any other media it would've been a no-brainer to have two major characters of the opposite sex end up together and smooch, It's a byproduct of heteronormativity (and also amatonormativity). This has happened so much that even a movie scene of two characters of the opposite sex looking at eachother has a mainstream audience wondering "Are they gonna get together?". Even speaking as a Narumayo shipper I can set aside my ship-tinted glasses and see both Maya and Phoenix's relationship through a platonic lens and it's amazing. There's been multiple instances of Maya being in grave danger and Phoenix risking it all probably in the verge of crying himself too just to get her out of there and not once did the writers attempt to suggest anything between them two. Even so, Ace Attorney is the type of game to take a back seat on romance as that's not really the point of the story. So for us people playing the games, pretty much every interaction between the major characters of the game are subtle and up to interpretation (Yes, even the "Unnecessary feelings" line.). - Excellent female characters, I know that "Good Female characters" is an incredibly low bar because "Good characters" are like the bare minimum things you're supposed to have in a Good story but it was 2001 so 🤷‍♂️ I've seen this take before but Ace Attorney is a story about it's female cast, they're filled with so much richness and depth it's insane (Franziska is SO UNDERRATED in the other half of the fandom). Mia also being a Mentor for Phoenix is also great, how often do you get to see instances in stories where male characters would learn under female characters and learn under them? And look up to them? I'm pretty sure there's more points to bring up but i'm probably not qualified to mention it nor even detail it. Also Godot isn't sexist With that said, Shu Takumi is truely an enigma because how the hell did he make a game that gets so much stuff right and then at the same time have some handful of wrong stuff (the first thing i could think of is Acro from Turnabout Big top)

Let's start from probably one of my favest jokes in the games.

Totally underrated. While everyone here is grasping the concept of ghosts and how they are real. Fran just goes forward with a joke.

But now about Fran. The older you get, the more you understand how much of child she is. She's 18 in her first game and it pretty much obvious. Even Athena, who also 18 in DD is less infantile. And it's not a jab at her. There's nothing wrong with being 18. It's just.

She was born in raised in very strict conditions, little smart princess. In a cage of rules, she was kinda. Set up on rails. So when she lost everything, her father and her big brother she got lost. She was never prepared to live without guidance.

Anyway, her relationship with Miles is great and I love them very much. They are very silly together.

I think I'm finally doing what I wanted to do with this app. Ramble. I feel like Trials and Tribulations is such an underrated game for nrmts content. Like the final case has so much from the forbidden hospital scene to the talk with Iris there's so much to read in here. First off Edgeworth flies from GERMANY in a PRIVATE JET to see Phoenix. If this was anyone else I wouldn't be this worked up but it's Edgeworth Second he accepts to be a defense attorney??? like?????? I feel like it's very overlooked. He put his entire career in jeopardy for this porcupine headed idiot. Thirdly his feelings for Phoenix are compared to Iris's feelings for Phoenix. By that implication, Edgeworth is in love with Phoenix in some capacity. And then there's all those scenes with his smiling sprite. This is used exclusively with Phoenix and talking to him and we first see it in this case when he says the partner line. and this is all just Edgeworth. There isn't really much with Phoenix apart from this scene that literally no one talks about. It's during the earthquake and after that, his first thought should logically be Maya right?? The one stuck in a cave that might collapse? But it isn't. His first thought is Miles. And Franziska is just like yeah that tracks. Like bro????????? Sir your friend is on the brink of life or death and you're like IS MY CRUSH ALRIGHT???? Anyways thank you to whoever read this thing. lmk your thought

Zorc- Had fun with him influencing Ramses so I ended up making him a full on muse. Charles- Who doesn't love this man? Of course I had to pick up Charles. Fredrick- Cheese hat. Need I say more? Jaques- I found him an interesting past Toppat leader. Larry- Thought he'd be interesting to play. Sheriff- Cause yes. Whitty- Whole reason why I got into FNF and I think he's a cool character. Tricky- Tricky mod is what got me into Madness and boi was I right when I though this crazy fucker would be fun to play. And ofc I just had to have his minions and that gremlin. Tiky I just found cute. The Sheriff- Hmmm... don't know other than I just like him. Gestalt- Boi did he scare me in the game and I like some characters like that. Plus a cool looking monstrous big boi. V2/V4- Big bois and I like em. The Maker- I love star and galaxy stuff and instantly liked this deity the moment I saw him so how can I not rp him? White Hank- Bestie got Hank and I ended up liking White Hank so I added her. She's a lot of fun. Franziska- Picked her up cause she was my first fav AA character. Until I started liking Sebby. Sebastian- Still like him VERY much and I picked him up since he's a very fun character. Delicia- A fun and underrated character. I like her nicknaming thing too. Twinkle- How can I not pick up a tiny star fellow? I had to not long after I rolled him up and played as him in the game. Axem Rangers X- SMBZ is a big part of my childhood and I always thought they look cool. HIM- PPG is another part of my childhood. Also love just how creepy and how much of a threat he is. And I tested rping as him in Among Us. DJ Music Man- Asked if I or bestie should have him. Bestie said I should so he ended up as muse of mine.
