The Four Main Types of Franchise Businesses and The Insurance Coverages They Need
Embarking on the exciting journey of owning a franchise business is akin to stepping onto a roller coaster – filled with twists, turns, and the occasional heart-pounding moments. As a savvy business owner, you understand that protecting your investment and livelihood is essential.
This is where insurance comes into play. In this article, we'll delve into the four main types of franchise businesses and the insurance coverages they need to weather any storm that comes their way. Plus, we've got a recommendation for the crème de la crème of insurance agencies – The Allen Thomas Group – who specialize in catering to the unique needs of franchise business owners.
Retail Franchises: Selling with a Safety Net
Retail franchises, the darling of the consumer world, cover everything from clothing boutiques to electronics havens. While customers revel in their shopping sprees, there's always the potential for accidents or unexpected incidents. Enter the superhero of insurance, General Liability Insurance. It's like a safety net beneath the trapeze artist – it cushions falls and protects against those unforeseen mishaps. Slip and falls, merchandise damage – you're covered.
Additionally, when your products take the spotlight, Product Liability Insurance shines. If one of your products inadvertently causes a customer a bit of trouble, this coverage ensures you're not left in the lurch.
And let's not forget about Property Insurance – it's like a shield for your physical store and its contents. Fire, theft, and even that wayward water pipe – they don't stand a chance against this stalwart defender.
When business takes an unexpected pause due to circumstances beyond your control, Business Interruption Insurance steps in. Think of it as the understudy, ready to take the stage when the lead actor falls ill. This coverage ensures you don't miss a beat, even when faced with adversity.
2. Food and Beverage Franchises: A Buffet of Protections
Food and beverage franchises offer a feast for the senses, but with that comes a unique set of risks. You might serve the most delectable dishes or the most refreshing beverages, but what if someone gets a little more than they bargained for? Liquor Liability Insurance is like your restaurant's bouncer, handling those alcohol-induced tussles that could arise.
Foodborne Illness Coverage is a star in its own right. While we all aim for culinary perfection, sometimes accidents happen in the kitchen. If a customer happens to experience the unfortunate side effects of a meal, this coverage ensures you're not left with a bitter taste in your mouth.
Your staff, those unsung heroes of your establishment, deserve their own form of protection. Workers' Compensation Insurance takes center stage, providing a safety net for any on-the-job injuries that might occur.
And when the unexpected occurs – say, your ovens decide to take a vacation – Equipment Breakdown Insurance steps in. Like a superhero electrician, it swoops in to save the day, covering repair costs and getting you back on track
3. Service-Based Franchises: Safeguarding Services
Service-based franchises offer their unique blend of offerings, whether it's a clean living space or top-notch education. But let's face it, life is unpredictable, and so are customer expectations. This is where Professional Liability Insurance, or Errors and Omissions insurance, comes into play. It's like having a personal shield against those claims of professional negligence.
Your employees are the backbone of your service-based empire. Worker's Compensation Insurance ensures they're taken care of in case of any on-the-job mishaps. After all, even superheroes need a little help now and then.
For those franchises that involve a fair bit of driving, Commercial Auto Insurance becomes your trusty sidekick. From deliveries to on-site services, this coverage ensures your business is protected while on the go
4. Lodging Franchises: Bedding Down with Peace of Mind
Ah, lodging franchises – the home away from home. But what if the unexpected occurs? Property Insurance takes center stage, safeguarding your establishment against perils like fire, theft, and even those mysterious plumbing mishaps.
Business Interruption Insurance is your quiet savior, ready to step in when unforeseen events force you to close your doors temporarily. It ensures your cash flow keeps flowing, even when the going gets tough.
And let's not forget about Liability Insurance. Slip and falls, misplaced luggage, or a mysterious disappearance of room service – this coverage has your back. It's like having a personal detective that unravels mysteries and shields you from potential legal battles.
A Trusted Partner for Franchise Owners
Now that we've got your business needs well-covered, it's time to introduce you to a partner that specializes in navigating the complex world of franchise business insurance – The Allen Thomas Group. Now I'm thinking about Pop Trolls and what happened with them... I love making it clear in my fic that what happened with the Bergens affected them, to various degrees.
Small ramble? I guess? It's not completely cohesive
In Hanahaki, they make peace with the Bergens, but most older Trolls are still anxious around them, and only Bridget and Gristle actually know where the village is and they never go in.
In Different Beat I'm at a bit of limbo, I can see them helping Bridget which would help King Gristle and it dominos into the Bergens being happy, but there won't be a positive relationship between the two species.
In Experiment Pop... well, Bergens are genuinely huge bad guys there, and there's no way the Pop Trolls would ever willingly interact with a Bergen. There's more trauma than just Trollstice, and it affects the newer generations too meaning they can't fully get away from what happened.
I have more aus that I haven't posted but Bergen relations are spotty or bad there too, so... I guess I just think they should have been affected more
So it's all different, which is the joy of aus, but something I don't like is how glossed over the trauma of Trollstice is in the movies and the series. How long were the Pop Trolls captured and eaten? The franchise doesn't give us a definitive answer, but from context clues I would say a decade or two at the bare minimum. The first movie starts with the story where it's shown the city is built around the Troll Tree. They wouldn't get such an established city in so little time, I refuse to believe that. Trollstice was so integral to them, that the adult Bergens in the beginning of the first movie seemed like they had had a Troll their entire lives. I refuse to believe the Bergens showed up between BroZone breaking up and Rosiepuff being eaten
I want to say that realistically, the Pop Trolls were captured for 80-130 years. It may seem like a lot, but it is what makes most sense to me (feel free to debate me on that and provide your own speculated timeline). The timeline just... doesn't work properly? We don't have any set points to look at, except that in the first movie the escape was 20 years ago, and between World Tour and Band Together a month has passed. This makes it so I can fuck around with the timeline as needed, but they could have given me more to work with. So the only timeline I am working with is that at the escape, the Pop Trolls had been stuck with the Bergens for nearly 130 years, the whole Music schism happened almost 200 years ago (and while they were with the Bergens there was a generation or two who didn't even know other Trolls existed), and the Strings were made around 250 years ago? But that also doesn't fully fit with how a society evolves, so might have been even longer between all of this?
Anyway... Back to the Pop Trolls and how the Bergens and Trollstice affected them
I love making jokes in my stories about how desensitized the Pop Trolls are to death and destruction of their home. I love writing other Trolls' reactions to that. It's fun and morbid at the same time. Like the other genres can be as pissy as they want about Pop's attempted takeover so many years ago, but in a cynical way, they got their karma... Other genres had places to be safe, evolve in their own time, no huge threats, but the Pop Trolls lost that, and you can't tell me that wasn't lost for a long time
I firmly believe the Pop Trolls don't have an actual cemetery, but rather a field of flowers planted in remembrance, a Memorial. Flowers planted for the ones lost, but no bodies buried with them. Just a flower representing who they were and what they meant to their loved ones (which brings in my headcanon that flowers and flower language is a big part of Pop Troll culture). It's just in the past 20 years they actually have had bodies to bury, and those are few and far between
...I had a point to this ramble, I think. I think Trollstice and Pop Troll history is my fictional roman empire, it has genuinely gone in and out of my head since the first movie. It just hits hard

Still losing my mind over how unintenionally funny (and easy to parody) Jake's "Who is this?" line is 😭😂
Tumblr media
Quaritch: "Jake Sully! You hear me, Corporal? I've got your kids! How you copy that?" 😠
Jake: "New phone, who dis?"
Quaritch: "..."
Quaritch: "It's ME! Quaritch! Your archnemesis!"
Jake: "Who??? You're breaking up, I can't hear you."
Quaritch: "It's me, dammit! Quaritch! THE MAIN VILLAIN OF THIS FRANSCHISE!"
Jake: "Rich who? Oh, man. This is one of those Nigerian prince scams, isn't it? Listen here, buddy, I 'aint got no rich uncles dying abroad and leaving me money, and I don't want any, K, thanks, bye."
Quaritch: "What—"
Jake, talking to Neytiri: "Babe, can you believe this? How did they get on Pandora anyway? Jesus Christ, scammers these days..." 🙄
Quaritch: "Wait—"

Your feelings about what happened today are completely valid 🫶🏻 when the Wild traded Kevin Fiala I wanted the franschise to burn to the fucking ground. My favorite team!! But they obliterated my heart on a summer day in July and it was not the same for awhile. I had a hard time watching the first half of the season. I cried when I saw Kevin in his Mings jersey for the first time. I yelled and pouted and people made fun of me but whatever! It sucked! We invest so much time and energy and money into these franchises that turn around and make decisions that are hard to swallow. It’s a business. And we don’t have control over what happens. But it hurts and honestly, feels like betrayal.
All this to say, I’m sending you hugs as a hockey fan who has been there right with you 💜💜 feel every single feeling that you need to and know so many of us are nodding along with solidarity for you 😘
Literally feels like I'm going through a breakup after like 10 years of commitment. Tampa's GM tore out my heart and stomped on it today and I know that when training camps come around and I see Stamkos in his NSH threads I'm going to be a mess. I'm not ready for this next season, don't think I'll ever be. I appreciate you, and your sentiments', dearly 💜💜

franchises fucking suck we all invest too much of our time and mind and heart into franschises. i am always thinking of my beloved mutual (who i think deleted their blog a few years ago unfortunately) who at one point fully dedicated their blog to the movie moonlight (2016). like months passed and all they pretty much ever talked about was the movie moonlight (2016). and i respect that so much

Attention: Spoilers "Mission Imbosible Dead Reckonink part One.....
Tumblr media
Are you guys really serious about this Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise????Seriues????
Is this the way to point the rising star and top actress Ferguson and her amazing character Ilsa to the exit of the M.I. franschise?😭….Could you really not think of a better farewell for her?
Did Rebecca herself ask to be written out of the franschise ?,since this double episode does not mean the end of the series and thus there are still going to be M.I. movies in the future according to Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise. Now that Ferguson also has other roles to tackle in films and series"Dune" en "Silo"where there will be a second season of it, I can imagine our Swedish beauty being too busy to play the role of Ilsa in M.I. anymore.Or did Rebecca not ask for this at all?
Was your inspiration already running out with her character or do you think with the arrival of Hayley Atwell her Grace that Ilsa's role was played out in the franschise?
Otherwise, from the previous film "Falout," it looked very much like Ilsa was going to join the IMF now that she had surrendered her "license to kill" to MI6 exchanged for a "license to love" for her and Ethan❤️
They completed the story of Ethan's previous great love who was also his wife,Julia Meade-Hunt (Michelle Monaghan) , especially for this purpose and even had her and Ethan separated from each other because they wanted to use the genie that Cruise and Ferguson radiated toward each other toward the next films. Why did you put all that effort back then only to make it all worthless in this film, all that effort for nothing???
So did you guys just suddenly change your mind when Hayley Atwell could join the new film because Christopher McQuarrie had wanted her for years and Tom Cruise and Atwell even had a relationship with each other for a short time.Maybe they thought Atwell was a suitable or better replacement for Ferguson in terms of love interest for Tom's spy?
And what's the point of her death for in the story? To make Ethan suffer or even more motivate to kill Gabriel? As if Ethan wouldn't have had a good reason to want to kill him before that.He killed his first great love Marie in the past(Mariela Garriga) and is a great danger to his friends and lover so her death really made no difference in that?
The James Bond Franschise was heavily criticized precisely because in the earlier 007 films women were killed before to motivate James to take out the villain, which was woman-unfriendly to many now and now M.I. would indulge in these practices as well?
Or are you telling a big lie and Ilsa didn't really die in the movie? At the beginning of the movie, after Ethan came to her aid in the desert, it seemed at first that she was dead, which fortunately she was not, and then Ethan asked her to stay dead to the outside world. After Ethan found out that Gabriel, his old dangerous sadistic enemy was back on the scene,he probably prepared Ilsa for that in order to deceive him since he knew that she might not be able to stand up to him individually and Ilsa put a bag of fake blood in her blouse to make it look like she was mortally wounded and then played it well so Gabriel thought he had killed her?
We didn't really see Ilsa die in her last shot, only wounded or mortally wounded in Ethan's hands and it may be feigned comedy to deceive Gabriel.Or even if he really stabbed her that doesn't mean she died from that, she may also be badly wounded and that's why she and Ethan decided to let the outside world think she is really dead so Ilsa can recover from her wounds secretly and dead to the outside world safely and well.
The character of Pom Klementieff who plays Paris here was also stabbed at the end of the film by Gabriel and was also badly wounded but apparently her character is going to survive because she participates in the sequel, even though I myself thought she was dying, so why not do the same with Ilsa???
We are watching a "Mission Imbosible" movie where great deception occurs several times,so it is certainly not impossible.I'm not 100% convinced that Ilsa is really dead until I've seen the sequel or Christopher McQuarrie and Rebecca themselves officially confirm it, so who knows, maybe they want us to believe that she died so we'll be surprised when she reappears next year in a secret smaller role and for the last time in this franchise. That e.g. James Bond in NTTD had a daughter in the movie 2 years ago,was also a big secret that they managed to keep hidden from most so who knows also that this theory of Ilsa could be true or at least I hope so from my heart.
Because Rebecca Ferguson and her Ilsa Faust deserve a much better ending than this anyway. His and her character have taken the franchise to a much higher levela, her dynamism and acting talent that she exuded was top levela that not many are going to be able to match and with all due respect to Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff(especially of Pom I am a fan)but they are never going to reach that levela that Rebecca had!
So McQuarrie and Cruise, rectify this major blunder of this film if you can because for the last time:Ferguson and her Ilsa deserved much better than this brutal murder and I fear even a lot of fans for the future M.I. would drop out otherwise.
And otherwise I'll send her father to you,you can go explain to him what the senario for his daughter in the movie is about
Tumblr media
How dare you write such a senario for her Christopher McQuarrie, die, die………!!!!
🤣😂😛

Sometimes I feel like with AI I’m witnessing the death of the artist. There’s been a lot of debate of what true art is with these AI. The artist who showed me this told me they could see the AIs mistake but I admit that I don’t really see any that would make me not want to pay for this piece. I keep getting the message that the AIs aren’t perfect but do I have to be more perfect than a robot to get work?
Creatives get less and less feedback and more and more people are turning to AI as they get more sophisticated. As someone who wants to be a professional one day it makes me wonder. Is art even going to be a viable career ten years from now? Are we going to have corporate AI produced TV shows with AI produced marketing ads. I have already seen the core messages get stripped from the DA franschise with each release of the game. Inquisition was made to please as many people as possible and so it became this watered down version of what I know dragon age to be. Corporations have been trying to take the soul out of art forever and finally they did.
I feel like creatives are going to have to go underground. That people will only pay for artists work for the prestige of it, That people are always going to be even more demanding and even less appreciative of the artists who go through the years of dedicated training to master their craft.
It took me about 25 years to do what an AI can do in a second. That scares me as someone who wants to truly be a professional one day. Is this just a dream now? Will only the connected and popular have the chance to make it?

June 6-Hakone
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today we went to Hakone, which is known for their hot springs. I was excited to go since I thought we would have a chance to go into one of the springs, but we ended up not going lol. I still liked the activities that we were able to do today though. Also enjoyed the train ride to and from Hakone; the views were really beautiful. The views that we saw on the other train, cable car, and ship were also amazing. I was a bit scared in the cable car though since I’m not a big fan of heights and the mentioning of potential accidents that could happen also made me a little anxious lol. One thing that I didn’t expect during the day trip was how cold it was. When we reached the Kurotamago store at the end of the cable car, the wind had started blowing pretty bad and teh altitude we were at also made the weather cold. My favorite parts of the Hakone day trip was when we first broke off for lunch and the shrine visit. The place that we went to for luch was a small restaurant ran by two-three people I think. They would make every dish from scratch every time and the vegetable ramen that I had was delicious. I would go back there again; it was a 10/10 for me. I also enjoyed the shrine visit because of some of the history that we learned about it such as the samurai brothers’ dedicated shrine and the markers of emperors would donated to the shrine. I also loved how the shrine was an embodiment of the wabisabi aesthetic that had become popular at the time. I am also surprised that no one has wanted to clean the shrine in the years that have passed since then, in an effort to keep the traditional look and aesthetic of the shrine. It was also a surprise to see Neon Genesis Evangelion at Hakone as well. I ‘m a fan of the franschise and was really happy that we were able to get close to an essential piece of the show.
The reading made me reflect on the sekisho system and Hakone’s part in it. The sekisho system was a good strategic move on the emperor’s part especially since the daimyo that visited already had to spend so many resources to travel to the capital every other year. When the daimyo were able to go back to their regions, the emperor still had collateral so that the daimyo would be less likely to rebel against him. I’m not surprised that Hakone was one of the more stricter sekishos back then, which is evident through how isolated Hakone is. It would have made watching after the daimyos’ families easier and also more difficult for the families to attempt escapes from their sekisho. It was cool to see the guards’ quarters as well to see more of what the process of living in a sekisho was like. The identification check-in that families would first enter through was smart since daimyo might attempt to switch their wives out for someone else. The guard tower that was at the top of the hill would have also been helpful because it allowed them to see more of the sekisho and to spot any suspicious activity that may have been going on.
