Percy is pleasantly surprised. he wonders how he didn't know you have a cat, and starts asking you everything he can think of. do you have any other pets? what's your favorite animal? how did you come up with your cat's name? how long have you had them? he wants to know everything about you that he didn't before. while you lay with your head on his stomach as he picks your brain, you find yourself pleasantly surprised too. your cat will not leave Percy alone. kitty purrs, rubbing against him, demanding cuddles and belly rubs. kitty tries to move you off Percy so they can lay on him instead. kitty licks him, and you watch, giggling.

"I probably just taste like fish." Percy jokes, cuddling kitty right back.

Jason is a little scared of your cat. not because he doesn't like cats, but because he feels like he needs to impress them, gain their approval. and we all know that the more you try to make a cat like you, the more they'll ignore you. you explain this to Jason, but it does little to soothe his inner turmoil over the thought of not being approved by your beloved pet. he starts rubbing cat nip on himself before he comes over, bringing bouncy fuzzy mice and lickable salmon fillet flavored treats. he's armed to the teeth, determined to make your kitty at neutral towards him. slightly favorable would be a huge win in his book. your cat can smell his fear, and thinks it's... kind of funny. after three treats and enough whiffs of catnip coming off him, kitty butts their head against Jason, tail curling in approval before trotting off to nap in the window. never in your life have you seen Jason look so triumphant.

"Good. Good. This is good." You cut him off with a kiss before he can show you his 16 step plan to win over your cat.

you swear your cat loves Leo more than you. you can't believe your eyes when your cat runs right over to him when you bring him home.

"hey gaitito," he chuckles, bending down to give your now purring cat a scratch behind the ears. "look at you."

I swear to god cats are drawn to Leo. in Houston they would gather around his apartment building when he was a kid. he would sneak the neighborhood strays snacks and leftovers, naming them after tv characters from his mom's favorite telanovelas. your kitty is no different. they follow you two around all day, purring and demanding attention. they lay on his chest, drooling when he scratches their chin. never in your life have you seen a cat drool. but you drool over Leo a lot too, so you guess you're in good company.

Frank first meets your cat when you call him, asking for advice. your cat has been weird lately, and seems to be avoiding your kitchen. they won't eat or drink in there, and you can't figure out why. Frank shows up at your place, greets you with a kiss, and you bring him over to couch your kitty is curled up on. in the blink of an eye, Frank transforms himself into a large, gray, maine coon tabby cat. he trots over to your kitty, who wakes up with a little chirp. they stare at each other for a moment, making an occasional noise, tails flicking. your cat gets up and trots to the kitchen door, and Frank follows, entering hesitantly. he leaves as a human a moment later, nodding his head.

"It's white noise from your new humidifier." he explains, your cat's eyes trained on him the whole time. you had no idea one of the perks of dating Frank was dating an animal whisperer, and he tells you and your cat he's happy to help translate any time.

how the hoo boys make you smile (characters: percy , leo , jason , and frank )

a/n- it’s been a while since i read the books. don’t judge too hard.

when you’re having a rough day, percy is the first to notice. while most of the time he’s an oblivious bum, the slightest hint of a frown doesn’t go unnoticed by percy. instead of immediately prying, he’s sneaking of to the beach to prepare a cheesy date. rose petals will be scattered in a heart, with candles galore and a cozy blanket laid perfectly so you can cuddle and watch the sunset together. it looks like something straight out of a rom-com, and you couldn’t be happier. even though he sacrificed his dessert to the demeter children for the roses and promised to leave the apollo kids alone for the candles, it’s worth it to see your sickeningly sweet smile.

when you’re dating leo, there isn’t a moment you aren’t laughing till your stomach hurts. he’s always cracking a joke to make you smile, no matter how serious the situation is. you could be full on crying, and between his comforting words he’ll slip in a lighthearted quip that makes you giggle between sobs. if he isn’t throwing jokes around, he’s making you little trinkets out of scrap metal as gifts. flowers, hearts, and even a mini-festus sit on your nightstand, proudly displayed. they’re a reminder of how much your totally awesome boyfriend cares about you, so naturally, seeing them makes you smile.

jason is extremely good with kids, specifically your relatives. there’s a lot of things about him that make you smile, like his silly glasses or how much he cares, but nothing tops how he acts around kids. it started when you asked him to babysit a little demigod at camp, since you were busy and the baby was too young to be by themselves. when you came back, you saw him asleep in a rocking chair, the kid wrapped up in his arms, also snoozing. you weren’t hesitant to ask him to watch the child again a week later. when you returned this time, jason’s large frame was stuffed into tiny chair, sitting next to them. he had a pink feather boa around his neck, and was sipping out of a teeny tea cup, while the little girl did the same. the sight of his tall and masculine figure dressed elegantly in pink definitely made you grin ear to ear.

frank absolutely adores buying you endless amounts of stuffed animals. elephants, seals, weasels, and countless other creatures sit pretty on your sheets. he likes to surprise you with them, too. you’re having a bad day? boom. new manatee stuffed animal laying on your bed for when you go to sleep. he traveled outside of camp recently? boom. awesome new fluffy souvenir. they all sleep on the bed too, obviously. can’t have one feeling left out. frank loves the way your eyes light up and you start thinking of names the moment he gives you one.

Percy

He'd gift you a gift box. Food, things you like... oh, and of course the food is blue. He loves you very much, so since the start he knew he wanted to give you everything you could have wanted, and that's what he did.

Annabeth

She's smart, and she knows what you like. She'd give you something practical, and that'd help you daily, most likely related to your interests. Or something like a cute mug, like this one.

Jason

He's the kind of man to give you a book advent calendar or a really pretty necklace or bracelet. Depends on what you like; he'd usually know. He would most likely go for something pretty but simple.

Leo

Leo may even know you for years or not. Doesn't matter. He's freaking out. He doesn't know what to give you because he has so many ideas, and he's afraid you won't end up liking any of them. He ends up forging you something, maybe for combat or anything cute for you to wear, like a ring.

Frank

If Leo's anxious, he's even more anxious. He's scared that you won't like his gift enough, and if he ends up giving so much thought into it, he may end up giving you something weird. However, in the end, he decides to go for a piece of clothing. Gloves, a scarf, a beanie, or a sweater.

Piper

She's probably one of the best gift-givers in the world. Her gifts would never leave you disappointed, that's for sure. I know that she loves making clay things like these. These would be her gifts for you. She'd also definitely say "it's us" or something.

Hazel

Hazel would also be nervous about giving you a Christmas gift. But I can 100% see her giving you a handmade scarf. She put weeks of work into it, and she's so worried you may not like it, and she's so happy if you actually end up wearing it.

Nico

Two truths and a lie: he hates gifting time; he knows what to give you; he's a child of Hades. Guess the lie. He'd end up giving you something pretty, or something he already owns and finds special. You're even more special to him, so he wants you to have it. It's a part of him; please accept it!

Will

He's a child of Apollo; of course he's creative. Of course he'll give you a cute but simple gift. Of course there's a lot of thought behind it. Of course he made it and wrote it himself.

How this scene should've gone.

"Leo!" Percy yelled running over and hugging him, spinning him around. Leo laughed in delight, hugging back when he put him down.

"God you're alive, you're alive, you're alive, you're alive, you're alive."

"Yeah I am. I'm alive." He said voice cracking, tears falling with a big smile.

"Leo!!!" Multiple people yelled and he pulled back. First hug was Annabeth then Frank then Hazel, who both apologized profusely.

"It's okay. It was my plan, besides how would you have stopped me anyway? I'm stubborn." He assured and they hugged him again. Jason pushed passed them when they pulled away and gave him a bone crushing hug.

"Can't... breathe..." He said and Jason let go. "Missed you too Mr. Wolf." He laughed and Jason rolled his eyes but ruffled his head. Piper gave him kisses with hers.

"Don't you ever do anything like that again you idiot!! We thought you were gone gone!! You could've-" She stopped when he hugged her.

"Me too." She took a breath and hugged back. "I missed you." He smiled and relaxed in her hold. "Me too."

 For a lot of people, a tucked away corner in California wasn't anything special— but for Frank and Hazel, it was home. New Rome was a place where they could grow old, stay connected to their friends throughout the years, raise their kids and grandkids— have a chance at a life most demigods throughout history wouldn't've dreamed of.

 For a lot of people, seeing kids and kids of friends and kids of kids and grandkids of friends, just sitting on the floor playing games on Christmas morning wasn't much of anything special.

 But for Hazel and Frank, it was everything.

It's not like Percy looks different- Scratch that; he looks completely different. The curve of his jaw is softer, his hair just a bit longer. He's slightly shorter and definitely has more curves, but he's still Percy. Hazel looks him over, concentrating deeply as she works the mist as Annabeth watches critically.

"How do I look?" He asks. Even his voice is changed. He raises a single eyebrow, his grin going crooked in a way that suddenly reads coy instead of 'troublemaker.' Piper's cheeks burn at the question. She's always been able to rely on her voice, but suddenly it's abandoned her. Beside her Annabeth frowns and shakes her head, somehow disappointed with the absolute goddess that stands in front of her.

"You're still too... Percy." Annabeth comments, unable to vocalize exactly why the disguise doesn't work.

Stepping forward, Annabeth tucks a stray curl of Percy's hair behind his ear. The absolute adoration that enters Percy's gaze as he focuses on her is enough to make Piper's knees weak. Percy's hand catches Annabeth's as it withdraws from his hair and he presses his lips to her palm in a gentle kiss.

"Were you expecting someone different?" He asks, voice teasing.

"Holy Festus." Leo starts as Annabeth rolls her eyes at Percy's comment, her own frown softening. "Percy's hot!”

The disbelief in his voice draws both Percy and Annabeth's attention. The slightest tinge of a blush graces Percy's cheeks, and something in Piper clenches tight and doesn't let go.

"Isn't he hot?" Leo asks, demanding answers of the men around.

"Uh." Frank stammers as Hazel shakes her head.

"That doesn't matter if he's still recognizable." She responds. The others don't look as convinced.

"That's not a no!" Leo points out, pointing at Hazel emphatically. Hazel looks embarrassed, but doesn't respond. Annabeth snorts out a laugh and looks back to Percy whose nose is now scrunched up in discomfort. Even that expression looks good on his face. What the hell?

"Your not making him more attractive?" Piper is suddenly surprised to find herself asking. She doesn't even know why she does ask, but she realizes as she says it that she really needs to know. Hazel huffs.

"To be honest, I'm not sure that's possible." Hazel admits, nearly making Piper's jaw drop. Hazel thought Percy looked this attractive regularly? As a boy?!

Later Piper will question that thought, but not now.

"Okay weirdos!" Percy interrupts. Annabeth looks smug, while Percy is very clearly embarrassed and gods does he make embarrassment look cute. "Is the disguise going to work or not?"

Next to her Jason shakes his head.

"Don't think so." He admits. "Looks like we're going to need a plan B."

Percy sighs, annoyed, but accepting. "Great."

Later, when everything's said and done, but before the mist on Percy has worn off, Piper watches Annabeth take Percy by the hand and give him a coy smile of her own as she leads him away from the rest of the group. The others don't notice, and Piper doesn't say anything to draw attention to them as they go. She needs the space and to stop thinking about how Percy looking the way he does is suddenly making her heart race.

yeah no but frank is a whole ass peach. he is the sweetest little bbg you could ever meet and he is SUCH a good boyfriend. literally like he is such a fucking teddy bear. there is a good chance he'll be in the army and/or a vet when he's older but either way he will be revered and beloved by everyone he comes across. he rises through the ranks in the army so fucking fast, he leads countless sucessful operations to liberate civilians and free hostages, he brings resources and relief to people who need it, and he takes down more bullies than captain america. he is a stone cold badass on the battlefield with a heart of gold. he is THE posterboy for the military. literally. he is on all their pamplets posing and interacting with kids and rescuing kittens and posing with uncle sam and all that. he gets such a powerful reputation so fast. you want to be behind his shield and NEVER on the wrong side of his gun.

and when he becomes a vet??? equally reputable and terrifying. there is no animal he can't tame. there is no problem or animal too big or rare or small. there is no critter too feral or too exotic. he is the moste powerful and feared animal expert on this side of the globe. I hope you're ready because TLC has reached out to him multiple times BEGGING to give him a show.

and getting to feel his big warm bear hugs every day????? getting his sweet loving kisses and cuddles every single day??? this fucking tree sized moutain of a man who's so big and buff and gets all blushy giggle kicking his feet whenever he sees you????? unmatched. such a cozy sweet loving warm warm warm boyf. regardless of how big or small or short of tall or muscular or whatever you are, he will scoop you up and spin you around like kristoff and anna from frozen. he does have a tendancy to way overthink things so anniverseries and holidays will either be way elaborate and over the top, or a hot mess because the dove release is running late and the rose petals all over the floor are wilting and the scented candles are too strong and they're making the chocolates melt and oh gods. when you tell him you love it no matter how it works out, you love that he thinkis of you like this, you love being with him??? GOD he will melt. he will melt into your arms and pull you into his big buff embrace and never ever let go.

4. SOMETHIN’ STUPID

NOTE! i don’t know if I mentioned this in previous chapters, but y/n is female / uses she/her pronouns. also, there’s some writing in this chapter, so don’t skip past it!

Leo sat on his bed, waiting very impatiently for his friends to arrive. His palms were sweaty and his throat seemed to close up at the mere thought of confessing, but it hurt even worse when he pictured you dating somebody else. Why was he so nervous?! He had asked out plenty of girls before.

Although, none of them had ever said yes, but that was just a minor detail. Also, he had never been in love with any of them, and none of them had been his best friend for years. Whatever. Not important. The point was, he was practically a pro at talking to girls, so this shouldn’t stress him out at all. The sweat trickling down his forehead was probably the result of confidence, or something along those lines. 

“Leoooo! Open uppp!” The familiar voice of Percy echoed from outside the cabin as his fist repeatedly knocked on the door. Leo quickly jumped up, opening the door to reveal his three friends, all eager to help. He smiled, pausing momentarily, although it didn’t last long.

“C’mon! What are you doing just standing there?! We have a confession to write! Go, go!” Percy ushered himself in, Jason and Frank following behind. They immediately got to work, pulling out some paper and pens and brainstorming what to write. 

After what felt like forever, the final copy was written neatly on a piece of clean notebook paper and was sitting pretty on Leo’s desk, next to all of the scrapped versions that had been crumpled into paper balls. 

“Ow!” Leo yelped as Jason brushed his curls, trying to get him looking sharp for his grand declaration. “You can’t do that when my hair is dry!”

“Right, right. Sorry. I don’t really know how to do this,” Jason replied sheepishly, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck.

“Let me see the brush!” Percy shouted, snatching it out of the blond boy’s hands. “Annabeth taught me how to work with hair like his. Leo, you just continue practicing your speech.”

He nodded and continued quietly reciting the clever lines, trying to get every word perfect. He was sitting in a chair in front of a floor-length mirror, with the three boys hovering behind him and fixing his appearance. Finally, Percy spoke up.

“We’re almost done. Text her and ask her to meet up in around ten minutes.”

Leo picked up his phone, opening your contact and sending a simple message while the boys peered over his shoulder to watch your responses. 

“Oh, gods. I’m so sorry,” Jason broke the silence after reading your replies. Everyone just stared at the phone, absolutely gobsmacked. He had been too late. 

Tears welled up in Leo’s eyes as he looked up from the phone for the first time in minutes, staring at the speech that lay on his desk, practically mocking him. He swallowed his sadness back, trying to lighten the situation as if it didn’t just shatter his heart. 

“It’s no big deal! Hahaha, no biggie. There are plenty of other girls that love the bad boy supreme! All da ladies luv Leo, right?” He attempted to joke, frantically shoving the letter into his desk while the boys just stared with pity. 

“I don’t really care for her that much anyways! It’s fine! Everything’s fine!” Leo continued, throwing away the rough drafts and clearing away any evidence of his feelings. No one knew how to respond to his lies, so they remained silent as he freaked out.

“Okay then, fun hanging out with you guys! Bye!” The boys sent him confused glances as he practically shoved them out, tears beginning to flow down his cheeks as he smiled emptily.

“Wait-“ Frank started, but Leo was already shutting the door. The three stood on the porch awkwardly, wondering what the hell they should do. After a minute, they hesitantly walked away, coming to the conclusion that he needed some space for a minute.

Percy

Knowing this guy, he would probably repost some vines and a lot of 'I love my girlfriend' type of memes.

I think he'd post some stuff when he hangs out with the others, or when something funny happened.

He definitely posted a video he accidentally took of Grover falling, and I just know he posts it again once in a while.

I bet he posts a lot of Tyson, especially as he's grown up, and throughout his mom's pregnancy he dedicated a lot of pictures and stories to her.

And don't even let me start when Sally Jackson gives birth to his little sister and sends her pictures to Percy! He's so proud he posts every single photo of her, even if he's not there. I feel like he'd randomly post pictures of him with Sally holding a tray of blue food saying 'I love my mom'.

I just know this guy's profile is full of friends, family and love. And he has amazing highlights.

He def has a shared bio with Annabeth.

He doesn't post many pics of himself alone.

AND HE'S SO FAMOUS...

Annabeth

She doesn't post much, but when she does it's mainly book or smart quotes she relates to.

She probably shares some architecture she's really passionate about and I feel like she would post some pictures of herself, mainly the ones Percy takes.

Which aren't always good, definitely not.

Percy definitely saw her drooling as she was sleeping after a long quest, and took hundreds of pictures of it. He definitely never let her live this down.

Anyways, I feel like her stories are mainly reposts from Percy's and her friends' profiles.

Still, I just know her profile looks neat and clean, unlike Percy's.

Grover

I was thinking that Grover wouldn't have an Instagram profile, but then I realized something way funnier. He would have one, but an old man kind of profile.

He probably has a low quality picture of a lake as a post (which was published at least 5 years ago), follows his friends, has a bad smiling picture of himself as a profile picture and that's it. That's his profile. Pure old man. He's one with nature, don't judge him. He'd eat his phone if he was hungry enough.

Jason

Here he is, another old man. His profile wouldn't be like Gorver's, but way worse.

He'd be slightly more active... just... random? He probably doesn't even know what he's doing.

I just KNOW he accidentally posts pics of himself from time to time, looking like this and this. Piper usually warns him, and he deletes them. If he knows how to, that is.

Just saying, he never grew up with technology, so he's not really good at it.

He'd have some average quality posts. I think two, or five. Either two or five.

And they're really straight man core.

He'd definitely post himself holding a big ass fish he caught on a fishing trip with Percy and Leo.

I think the other posts are landscapes, maybe some pictures with friends.

He also posts stories, and somehow, some highlights.

They're messy and they don't make any sense tho.

Piper

Her Instagram is amazing. She posts regularly, not a crazy amount.

But she does post funny videos, almost daily.

She definitely has separate highlights with her best friends. I feel like she posts her and Leo being dumb a lot.

She definitely shares music on her profile and makes highlights about it. And she posts lyrics.

Her posts are mostly from trips and friends, they're not too many, but they're great.

She usually posts stories.

Also, her Instagram is probably famous. Leo definitely asked her to post him to get him a partner. She did a whole portfolio of him. It was unsuccessful (Leo, please, get with me).

Leo

SHITPOSTS EVERYWHERE.

His profile is based on humour, vines, memes, shitpost... you name it. His surname would also be something dumb like 'alldaladiesloveleo._". You get the feeling.

His profile picture would probably either be him with sunglasses, and a happy face or him dressed up as spider-man.

He definitely thinks he's spider-man.

I just can see him posting things like this or this. Just... yeah... Leo.

He doesn't have many pictures of himself, probably because he's insecure.

He has some, and it's either with his friends or from some great memories.

He probably thinks he looks weird in them, but he keeps them 'cause they were fun times.

I just know he looks the cutest in them.

AND I ALSO FEEL LIKE HE'D LOOK AWKWARD IN PICS.

Idk, he's either smiling really widely or holding his thumb up awkwardly.

Either way, he doesn't have many followers, unlike Piper, Percy and Annabeth.

Nico

Our third old man.

He wouldn't be that bad, tho, he'd know how to use it. Mainly because Will helps him.

However, he'd post Tumblr quotes. Like, the depressed and sassy ones.

And I'm not saying he does it seriously, there's definitely some irony in it... but I do feel like he kinda relates to all of them...

Let's just say we're lucky he got Instagram after he settled in Camp Halfblood.

His posts would be full of sarcasm. Everyone thinks he means every single one of his posts, but that just pushes him to post more.

He's having fun, and Will probably sent him the worst ones, telling him to post them. They definitely got some people worried.

He has a good amount of followers somehow, and he only reposts when he feels like it. He probably has a shared bio with Will, and an highlight dedicated to him.

Will

I think he would also post some funny videos, it's not common, but he does. He probably posts some animal videos that made him crack up. Like this one (I'm only putting it because I literally couldn't stop laughing because of it. It is my favorite video on the internet. And yes, my brain is rotting.)

Like I said, he has a shared bio with Nico, and he'd also have a dedicated highlight for him.

I feel like he posts some candid moments with Nico. And yes, I'm talking about taking a pic of your s/o eating and posting it. It's cringe but he loves it. Nico despises it.

He'd also post some friends and has some pictures of him and his siblings at the infirmary.

I feel like he'd have a good amount of followers, and he posts some pics of himself.

He's so pretty, and his pictures are blessings! Nico definitely stalks his profile just to look at them again and again. He probably has them saved too.

Frank

He's reposting the whole WWF page.

I feel like he'd also post some candid moments with Hazel, but definitely not cringy ones like Will.

He probably blocked Leo.

He has a few pictures of him posted, but you can't see him really well.

He posts about the stuff he's doing and archery and his page is pretty serious and interesting overall.

His profile pictures is unclear, but you can kind of see him in it.

He doesn't have many highlights, maybe one with Hazel.

He doesn't post often, but idk, he's just chilling in his instagram.

Hazel

She also comes from the past, so she's not good at technology. Frank helps her with almost everything on her profile.

After she learnt, she started posting videos of animals doing stuff, tagging Frank, saying it's him.

He pretends to be annoyed at first but he thinks it's really cute.

She doesn't have any highlights but she has some posts (Frank posted them for her).

Also, her profile picture is her and Frank smiling during a best friend hang out. It was before they got together.

Idk, to me they seem like the sweet couple that everyone admires. They're not too clingy, but they are a power couple. Their Instagrams, tho? They do look clingy.
