Violet and Xaden today, they’re almost in a long distance relationship with the height difference

I know Xaden doesn’t wear a patch for his shadows but I wanted him to have one.
Okay, it will be Ridoc and Bodhi next but I’ll need a little more time for them.

Repeat after me people:
Xaden is not white.
He's is poc as the description of the book says so and on top of that the author herself confirmed that he's not white. I was in the fandom back in the days Fourth Wing just came out and I remember her reply to someone's comment. He's not tanned under the sun or whatever, He. Is. Not. White.
So when you make one of those ugly AI "arts" and say "this is how I imagined him" when people tell you so or you fancast him with a white actor, I know you haven't read the books (or you don't care). And when they actually cast him with a poc actor y'all will throw tantrum and saying "tHiS iS nOt mY XaDaN"...

I’m more on booktok a lot and with the release of onyx storm everyone is crying about fan casting due to the tv show coming up. I must say it is so interesting to watch my goodness… 🤣🤣🤣🤣 again I’m still on iron flame and the book series is still OK to me.
But my main issue is this whole fan casting. I won’t go into the race debate of Xaden, he’s already been casted but the girlies dont like it. He’s not tall enough.
My issue is how FANART and AI have distorted your image of what someone should look like has affected everyone.
BUT what even opens my eyes is casting a FMC is not as a hassle as a MMC… a nod to my previous post… these books written by women for women ABOUT WOMEN are really ABOUT THE MEN/MALES.
Look at this Rapesand photo
Tumblr media
Because of this picture…. NO ONE is good enough to play him. This is the picture they see when they think of him.
It’s really sad so let’s face it, they’d books are about men and some of you should stop lying to yourselves at this point.

FOURTH WING TV SHOW THOUGHTS
cause I like tv shows and their production
I don't think every book needs to have an adaptation, to be honest, most of them shouldn't have one, but you know what? I'm glad Fourth Wing is getting one. Out of the many YA fantasy books out there, I think it's one of the few that could actually work as a tv show. For example: when the news came out that there was going to be an ACOTAR tv show I was like ????, because I don't think it works as one, now on the other hand Throne of Glass would be AMAZING, because just like Fourth Wing they have some elements that work better for tv shows, and one of these is LOTS OF CHARACTERS (even the ones we don't remember the name)
TOG gets the better hand in this, because they even have multiple POVs
NOW, here's a good thing about Fourth Wing's adaptation. It's a prime video and MGM studios production, which are VERY big you guys. And if I can say so myself, prime has a tendency to nail at their book adaptations. And the showrunner is Moira Walley-Beckett, whom I love.
Of course, because it's a tv show they have to cut out a lot of things, but I like to think about what they could add to bring the cinema energy to it. Like:
a scene of all the marked ones watching their parents being burned. Brutal? yes. But effective. The youngest ones we know is (was) Liam and Sloane, who were 15 and 14, so they can just keep all the actors and make a heavy moment. Open the episode with it, it would chef's kiss (put a random younger blonde girl for Sloane)
Violet loosing her brother and her father. Praying for them. Burning their things. It would also add a lot of weight to it. It could be small flashbacks, later turning into a scene, maybe oppening or closing an episode. And the importance of this is because I think we learn about this rigth in the first chapter, that is really frenatic, because it's Conscription day. It would keep things going as we learn about that

No offense to ppl who actually like fourth wing but it sound like a rough draft or bullet point for a book strung together. I don’t get why ppl were frothing at the mouth over this book

The way the fourth wing fandom is so used to seeing and creating "AI art" that they genuinely forget how a real attractive person looks like is unsettling.

One thing you must know about me is that I will 100% become so much more invested in the sibling/friend/found family side of a story rather than the romantic side. Literally only here for bonding, stop kissing and start found familying

I thing the fourth wing tv show is going to get dragged because violet will not be a very palatable main character for a casual audience tbh

I can’t with the “soulmates mind-reading” trope anymore. At this point it feels like a shortcut to intimacy in a lot of love stories I’ve been reading. Why write your characters slowly growing closer to one another through quiet moments of observation and actual verbal communication when you can just have them text with their brains? Kill me now.
“How romantic, the love interest knows exactly what the heroine is thinking 🥺❤️” Yeah of course they do. Because the author gave them mind-reading powers that allow them to instantly know the contents of the other person’s mind, it isn’t because they know them. This doesn’t make the relationship more compelling, it just lets the author cut corners on relationship development and manufacture intimacy through a super special magical bond.

If she even noticed the lingering touch, he couldn’t tell; she was already going back to her dinner. Rhiannon, however, stared at him with narrowed eyes. It was a knowing sort of look that Xaden met with an eyebrow raised challengingly, but Rhiannon didn’t back down. He was pleased to know that she hadn’t softened to him in the weeks since he’d last been at Basgiath. Violet deserved friends who defended her so fiercely, even against her own husband.
