The room reeked of sweat and frustration, a fitting backdrop to the shift between you and Caitlyn. Once the principled enforcer driven by justice, Caitlyn had become something you barely recognized, something that mirrored the things you had both mocked in others. War had done that—it twisted ideals, reshaped alliances, and blurred the lines between hero and villain.
You weren’t exempt from its grasp either.
You weren’t on anyone’s side anymore, and if that made you selfish, so be it. All sides had their vendettas cloaked in the guise of justice, and trust had long since dissolved into ash.
The only constant left in your life was Caitlyn, and even she seemed to slip further from your reach with each passing day. Still, she was all you had left, and you clung to that tether as tightly as you could.
Ambessa stood nearby, her towering frame casting a shadow over the training room. She had a presence that demanded obedience, her sharp eyes studying every move you and Caitlyn made. Her judgment hung heavy in the air, fueling Caitlyn’s relentless determination. The younger woman was eager to prove herself—desperate to show she was more than the pretty face people often dismissed her as.
“Again,” Ambessa’s voice boomed, authoritative and cold.
Caitlyn didn’t hesitate. She lunged, and within seconds, you were on your back, her weight pressing down on you. An annoyed groan escaped your lips as you met her gaze. There was no triumph in her eyes, just an unspoken apology that felt like a slap in the face.
She had pinned you down four times already, and she didn’t seem to care that it was staged, that you were holding back to give her an edge.
“This is the fourth time you’ve lost,” she muttered, her tone quiet but cutting. The faintest hint of a smirk tugged at her lips, a deliberate attempt to needle you. You were doing too much, and a lie like this was one Caitlyn would never be able to hold on for so long.
You shoved her off and rose to your feet, brushing the dust from your uniform. “Aren’t you exhausted?” you asked, frowning as you reached for the long training sticks.
“No,” she said firmly, shaking her head. Her confidence was unyielding, but the subtle tremor in her stance betrayed her. She was tiring, but she’d never admit it. Not in front of Ambessa.
You rolled your shoulders, loosening the tension building in your muscles, and tossed her a stick.
She caught it effortlessly, though her brows furrowed as she examined the weapon.
“Isn’t this what we’re here for?” Ambessa stepped past, her hand brushing your shoulder. “Don’t disappoint me,” she said, her voice low enough that only you could hear. Then she left the room, leaving the two of you to your duel.
Caitlyn frowned, her fingers tightening around the stick as she moved into a defensive stance. Her eyes narrowed, scanning you for any sign of weakness.
She dodged your first strike with a fluid step to the side, her frown returning as she countered with a quick jab to your arm. The impact stung, yet, with the adrenaline of it all, you barely flinched.
You shifted your stance, testing her defenses. Her movements were agile but predictable, and you exploited that, pressing her with a flurry of strikes that forced her to retreat. She tried to parry, but your blows grew heavier, faster. The sound of wood colliding echoed in the room, each clash a reminder of how far you both had come— how far you had fallen.
You gritted your teeth and feigned an opening, luring her in. When she lunged, you sidestepped, your stick sweeping low to catch her behind the knee. Inmediatelly, you shot again, pivoting and landing a strike on her shoulder. She winced but didn’t yield, pressing forward with a renewed ferocity.
The tension between you was palpable, each movement charged with so much—frustration, pride, it was complicated. You weren’t just fighting for dominance; you were fighting to hold onto the fragile thread that bound you together. Caitlyn’s determination was admirable, but you could see the cracks forming beneath her resolve.
Caitlyn moved with a desperation that mirrored your own, though her strikes lacked the precision and control you'd honed over countless battles. It was frustrating—not her lack of skill but the raw determination she wielded like a weapon. She had something to prove, and even as she pushed herself past her limits, you could see beneath.
Ambessa stood like a sentinel on the sidelines, her sharp gaze dissecting every move. You felt her judgment weighing heavily on you both, a silent reminder of why you were here.
She’d orchestrated this fight, thrust you into Caitlyn’s orbit once again after convincing her to become a commander. It wasn’t loyalty or trust that kept you by Caitlyn’s side now—it was survival. War had made enemies of everyone, and holding onto her, flawed as she was, felt like the only tether to a life that wasn’t entirely consumed by violence.
Caitlyn lunged, her movements fueled by frustration more than strategy. You parried her blow with ease, countering with a sweep of your stick that forced her back. She stumbled but recovered quickly, her brow furrowing as she adjusted her stance.
You didn’t rise to her bait. Instead, you pressed forward, your strikes gaining momentum. She dodged the first few but couldn’t keep up with your relentless pace.
Finally, your stick connected with her side, and she yelped, her expression twisting into a mix of pain and anger.
Before she could recover, you closed the distance between you, slamming her back against the wall. The force of the impact knocked the wind out of her, and her stick clattered to the ground.
For a moment, the fight was over. Her breathing was uneven, her chest rising and falling as she stared at you blankly.
And yet, despite it all, you couldn’t bring yourself to finish her. Even as you disarmed her, you hesitated.
Her breathing was ragged, her eyes locked on yours, but there was no surrender in her gaze. Only defiance.
You released her, letting your stick fall to the floor beside hers. She stayed against the wall for a moment, her gaze distant as she tried to regain her bearings.
Ambessa’s steps cut through the silence. “Is this enough?” you asked, turning to face her.
Ambessa gave a curt nod, her expression unreadable. “I hope so. Kiramman, do better next time. And you—one victory means nothing.” With that, she turned on her heel and left, the door closing with a decisive thud behind her.
Caitlyn slid down the wall, her movements slow and heavy, until she came to rest on the cold floor. She drew her knees close to her chest, one hand pressing firmly against her side. Her breath came uneven and shallow, each exhale barely audible. She didn’t speak. You crouched in front of her, setting the bundle of sticks aside. “Did I hurt you?” Your voice softened, words deliberate.
She shook her head, but her gaze never lifted. “I’m fine... just tired,” she murmured, her voice frayed and fragile, like it might disappear if she spoke any louder.
You frowned, unconvinced, studying the strain etched across her face. “You sure?”
Her nod came again, mechanical, unconvincing. The tension in her hand betrayed her, fingers digging into her side as if she could smother the pain through sheer will.
“Lay down,” you said, firm but gentle. “You need to rest.”
Her lips parted in protest, though the words carried no weight. “I can’t just... lay here,” she muttered, struggling to push herself upright. The attempt lasted only a heartbeat before a soft groan slipped from her lips, her body folding under the effort.
You scoffed lightly, standing and extending your hand. “No? Then come on.”
She shook her head, stubborn as ever. “I’m fine,” she repeated, but the hollowness of her tone betrayed her once again.
With a sigh, you knelt beside her. Your gaze softened, the sharp edges of impatience giving way to concern. “Come closer,” you said, quiet but insistent.
For a moment, she hesitated, then obeyed. Her movements were sluggish, every inch forward laced with reluctance. Her hands trembled as they left her side, her shoulders heavy with the weight of exhaustion. The moment your hands found her, warmth against her cool skin, she stilled. Her head dipped forward, her breath steadying as if surrendering to your care.
“This will hurt, but it’ll help,” you warned, brushing her uniform aside just enough to place your hand where hers had been. Her muscles were tense, coiled like steel beneath your fingers. You pressed gently but firmly, seeking the knot of pain she couldn’t hide.
Her sharp inhale cut through the silence, a quiet hiss of discomfort. Still, she nodded, letting you know you’d found it.
Your touch was careful, each motion slow and deliberate, coaxing the tension free. Her body softened under your hands, her breathing evening out with each pass. The furrow in her brow smoothed, and her grip on the pain began to wane.
“There,” you murmured after a time, pulling back.
Caitlyn sat straighter, her movements measured. She exhaled a breath she seemed to have been holding, her eyes finally meeting yours. “Thank you,” she said, her voice subdued but sincere.
You stood, brushing your hands together as if to clear away the weight of her pain. “Mhm... I’ll need more than a thank you for all this, Kiramman,” you teased, extending your hand to help her up.
Her lips twitched, a faint smirk breaking through her weariness. “Kiramman?” she echoed, an edge of curiosity in her tone.
You nodded, tugging her to her feet before letting her hand fall away. She studied you for a beat, the faint crease of a frown touching her features. Her silence was telling, and so was yours. Her last name had rarely, if ever, passed your lips, and the air between you now seemed charged with the acknowledgment of it.
Her smirk returned, wider now, her gaze sharpening with mischief. “You have a choice,” she said, her voice low, her confidence cutting through the quiet.
You scoffed, rolling your eyes. “I don’t.”
“You do,” she countered, stepping closer. Her hand brushed lightly against your waist, a deliberate gesture that sent the air around you rippling with unspoken meaning.
“You think so?” you asked, your tone flat but your gaze steady on hers.
“I know so,” Caitlyn whispered, her words a challenge as her face hovered close to yours. Her eyes flicked briefly to your lips, then back to your own.
Your smile tilted, equal parts playful and defiant. “I don’t,” you repeated, stepping back and breaking her grip. You reached for the water bottle, taking a deliberate sip, ignoring her lingering gaze.
“So, you’re just going to ignore me now?” Her arms slid around your waist from behind, her touch light but persistent. She rested her head against your back, her body swaying slightly as if to disarm you with her childlike ease. You glanced over your shoulder, raising a brow.
“What do you want me to say?” you asked, your voice calm, though her closeness stirred something unspoken in the quiet between you.
Her breath caught for a moment, but then she let out a soft huff, her grip tightening briefly before she released you. She stepped back, her silence filled with the weight of a thousand words unspoken.
And yet, you knew better than to believe it was over.
Your hand reached for hers before she could retreat any further. Her eyes flickered up to meet yours, wary yet undeniably drawn to you, as though your touch was the only thing grounding her.
You stepped closer, closing the space between you, and for a moment, neither of you moved.
Her lips parted as though she was about to argue, but instead, she fell silent. Her fingers brushing your chest, tentative at first, before sliding up toward your neck.
Seconds after you felt her digits threading through your hair, pulling you closer with a subtle urgency that betrayed her earlier distance. And you followed, like you're used to.
The rhythm between your lips guided urgency, desperation. Her breaths mingling with whining and gasping. Even now there was a fight for dominance, trying to prove each other a worth none of you had to.
And so the kiss breaks, a mutual eyeing to prove this is real and is mutual. Caitlyn feels your lips hovering, the quiet gasps for air almost turning into moans hitting her skin fervently.
She diggs into your shoulders, taking the chance to slip her tongue through your lips. And as you're used by now, the action is reciprocated by your saliva mixing with hers.
Mingling breaths coming in shallow gasps as you deepened the kiss, your hands exploring the somehow familiar curve of her body, the softness of her skin.
Your hands roamed down her back, pulling her closer, pressing her pelvis against you before sliding your digits beneath the red fabric of her uniform, fighting to undo her pants.
The task was easy, a somehow known ritual between both. Your fingers slid with ease, cupping at her pussy before rubbing your digits up and down her wet folds. Your hand behind her lower back to savour on her skin, hold her in place like you're always doing for her.
Her arms came to wrap around your shoulders, tangling her fingers on your hair while her face came to hid at your neck. The sweat on your faces enveloping each other's warmth with each move.
Her quiet whimpers felt perfect against your skin, like it was meant to be this way. And for once you allowed yourself to hold onto her as well, enjoy the pleasure of having her like this.
Caitlyn let herself be vulnerable once more, no longer fighting or hesitating but simply letting you hold her.
"Shh... feels good?" Your fingers brushed over her clit before finally circling over it, gentle, slow. Caitlyn murmured a quiet acknowledgment, pressing herself closer to you- pressing your body closer to her.
You left your thumb circling over her clit, just sensing her wet, teasing at her hole before thrusting your middle finger inside her. An overlapped gasp at how she swallowed you, how her hips followed you to get more depth, more friction.
"Look at me." Her head suddenly tilted back. Nails digging at your chin as she forced you to obbey her command- another usual between you two.
Her eyebrows were slightly curved, teeth gap showing through her parted lips. Your thrust growing faster each second until you took the chance to use your ring finger too.
You could see it on her chest, sense on how tight she was, hear the squeal with each thrust- she needed this as much as you.
Her lips begged for yours. Blue eyes eating you until her nails digged too deep- enough to make you hiss. And so, her tongue met yours once again, teeth clashing in a sloppy kiss, giving each other the privilege of the quiet gasps, low whines and quite heavy pants every time your fingers pumped into her pussy with more force. The palm of your hand hitting on her clit every time.
It never stops, not even when her lips part and break the kiss. Her hand going down to your wrists while her head tilts back. "Stop..." you whisper in a weak command, needing her to cum on your fingers, still pumping into her pussy. "Cait... please." You would scream at her and return all the anger she's let on you. But how she looks, with the sweat still on her face, some small hair sticking to her forehead. The warmth of her hand around you while her legs can barely hold it. Your fingers trapped between her thighs and her wet, under her underwear- so trapped and growing harder to move them. She's letting herself enjoy the moment, no talking but just quiet touching and gasping between both to guide each other.
Because she knows no one could ever understand and touch and feel like you.
And for once, getting to enjoy that silent admission- it blinds you into just pleading her to not be an ass once more.
Which she obbeys, drenching your fingers before she's holding onto you once again. Ragid breathing and a stupid smile on her face.

This is being considered as big data and NOSQL decade for software industry. Most of new software development is happening using NOSQL database. There are many NOSLQ Databases however MongoDB is the most popular choice due to being highly scalable open source & free NOSQL database option. Many high volume web applications and mobile applications are designed using MongoDB as a backend database. In this article we are going to cover all high level details you need to know about MongoDB and its usage. You may also want to check some good MongoDB books to learn and become a Mongo DB expert. Everlasting Popularity of MongoDB Explained Traditional databases have long been built on a singular architecture of Database -> Table -> Row/column -> table join. This led to expressive query-based languages (such as MySQL), uniformity, and facility for secondary indexes. However it lacks on a few crucial fronts – factors that can drive the success of your application or website. The interesting thing about MongoDB is that, as against traditional table structure in relational databases, MongoDB uses dynamic schemas (BSON). This ensures a more agile, nimble, and fast database - a much needed trait in today’s technology landscape where data is huge, time is short, risk is bigger, and cost needs to shrink every time. History of MongoDB The company, MongoDB Inc, first rolled out the service in October 2007 as a small component of a product platform. But within 2 years, it was transitioned to open source development approach. Ever since, it continues to be embraced by scores of websites and applications as a preferred backend software. What is MongoDB? Developed over C++, MongoDB is a wildly popular open source NoSQL database. Its cross-platform architecture provides immense utility and versatility to programmers who want to make us of a document oriented open source database. Mongo DB Popularity on Google Search Below is a snapshot of google search trends that show popularity of MongoDB has been growing in past few years. Why is MongoDB So Popular? It is not for no reason that business behemoths like eBay, Craigslist, or Foursquare depend on MongoDB. There are many compelling success factors that ensure that MongoDB continues to enjoy top billing as the world’s fourth most loved database. Let’s look at some of these – Huge volume of data? Bring it on! Imagine having millions of records to be stored, accessed, processed or shared in real time. With Big Data throwing curve balls every single day, MongoDB is the one database that can handle such large data with absolute ease. One practical example we see is Craigslist that uses MongoDB as a backend. It sees about 80-82 million advertising classifieds posted every month from across 70 countries. As such, its repositories gets populated pretty quickly. MongoDB not only handles this sheer size of data, but also helps in timely archiving and access to data across 700 different sites. Schema less architecture and sharding Because of its document based architecture, MongoDB features one collection (just like a table). This scale-out architecture adds value at multiple levels over the monolithic architecture of MySQL. It also helps to be better aligned with OOP principles. When it comes to load balancing, MongoDB uses horizontal scaling with help of sharding (storing data on multiple machines for efficient usage). You can add machines to balance your load needs and prevent any overload on a single machine. With sharding comes the issue of synchronization – something that is actually a non-issue, with the powerful replication facility provided by MongoDB. Replication helps redundancy and improves availability of the most up to date data. The combination of sharding and replication also comes in handy when recovering from a catastrophic IT failure or interruptions in services. Quick to set up and deployment MongoDB presents a very quick setup and deployment time. This not only helps client business to ramp up faster, but also helps them delight their customers with their agility and speed.
A good example is Forbes, which used MongoDB to come up with a simultaneous web CMS and mobile site. While the web CMS came up in two months only, the mobile site was ready in just 30 days. Better for your business Taking the above example of Forbes website, the publishing company took up the step of overhauling their content management systems. When the mobile site and website CMS came up, it managed to create a lasting impression on the minds of its users – prime being the fast access and speedy content delivery facility. As a result (to quote MongoDB’s words) “Overnight, mobile traffic jumped from 5% to 15% of Forbes.com total traffic, and quickly ramped to 50%”. In addition to the revenue increase, it also helped cut down on cost overheads by keeping just one full time and one part time IT person for the mobile website. High Performance Persistent data is handled smartly by MongoDB, thus leading to a high performance backend. It enables this in two distinct ways Embedding data in single structure. The schema is known as ‘denormalized’ model and is successful because of the BSON enabled document-like structure. Because of this, the I/O operations on the database system is reduced dramatically, leading to faster working backend. Using the ‘ensureIndex’ function, a field being indexed will return a result at just 8%-10% of the time taken for querying and searching every document in a collection of the MongoDB database. This is a vital time saving advantage. Indexing also provides the facility to include keys from embedded objects or arrays. Why Pick MongoDB? As is evident, express setup, huge data handling capacity, and horizontal scaling ability, are three key advantages that work highly in favor of MongoDB. This makes it an apt open source backend system to use for today’s times where content management delivery, data hubs, social media, big data, cloud computing, and mobility, have generated colossal volume of dynamic data. Where can we use MongoDB? If your data is too complex to be queries on a relational database If there are high occurrences of denormalizing the database schema If there are high occurrences of programming involved to tweak performance If your inputs are in form of BSON documents or serialized arrays If you want to store documents irrespective of the relation If pre-defining the schema or structure is not possible  Where should we NOT use MongoDB? If you need ACID compliance then MongoDB will not be a right choice. Also because of inherent limitations associated with a 32-bit system, MongoDB doesn’t perform well here, and instead recommends a 64-bit architecture. To sign off MongoDB has proven its mettle handling incredibly huge data. With its schema less architecture and zero relational dependency, it has sustained at a leadership position as a NoSQL database of choice for today’s companies who want to surge ahead of competition with fast, agile and scalable application and websites. Elixir of Lesser Agility
Difficulty:
Intermediate alchemy. Alchemy trainers do not teach this recipe in major Horde or Alliance cities and the recipe for it is rather rare, but is only moderately difficult to learn.
Ingredients:
One-part Wild Steelbloom flowers.
One-part Swiftthistle gel.
One crystal vial, for bottling.
Makes one elixir. Single-vial batches reccommended.
Recipe:
The process of brewing an Elixir of Lesser Agility requires precision, patience, and a keen understanding of alchemical principles. The first step involves harvesting wild yellow Steelbloom flowers, ensuring they are plucked at the peak of their potency during the early morning hours just after the dew has evaporated. Next, the delicate petals must be carefully separated from the stems and pistils, as only the petals contain the oils necessary for the elixir.
The third step is to create a infusion by steeping the Steelbloom petals in purified water that has been brought to a boil and removed from heat, allowing the mixture to cool gradually to room temperature. While the infusion is cooling, the fourth step can commence, which entails procuring a dram of Swiftthistle gel. The final step is to combine one parts of the Steelbloom infusion with one part of the Swiftthistle aloe jelly in a copper alembic, and slowly distill the mixture over a low flame into a crystal vial. The completed Elixir of Lesser Agility should be a vibrant, emerald green potion with a slight viscosity and shimmering clarity.
Upon imbibing this elixir, the drinker experiences a moderate boost to their agility, dexterity, and overall physical nimbleness. The effects begin to take hold within seconds of consumption, as the alchemical essence rapidly suffuses through the body and enhances neuromuscular function. Coordination, balance, and reflexes are all improved for a duration dependent on the specific formulation and purity of the elixir batch. Movements become swifter, more precise, and graceful. While under the elixir's influence, the body seems to react instinctively with slight speed and accuracy. However, the potion's effects are temporary and will gradually wear off over the next hour, returning the drinker back to their baseline state of agility.
Overuse of the elixir is not advised, as the body can build up a tolerance, diminishing its efficacy. Nonetheless, when used judiciously, the Elixir of Lesser Agility can provide a significant advantage in situations demanding enhanced physical dexterity and nimbleness.

Understanding NHS Enterprise Architecture Principles
The NHS Architecture Principles for digital services serve as a guide for technical architects and service designers, ensuring that the digital infrastructure supporting any new NHS digital service is not only effective but also sustainable, interoperable, and user-centric. There are 10 key NHS Architecture Principles that need to be considered with each new implementation:
1. Delivering Sustainability: The first principle underscores the importance of delivering digital services sustainably, considering both the robustness of the system and its environmental impact. Digital services need to weather the storms of change while remaining responsive. An intriguing aspect of this principle is its focus on 'embodied emissions', which delves into the ecological and social impact of IT equipment's production and disposal. Architects are tasked with minimising data retention, optimising code efficiency, and limiting architectural obsolescence. Also, the preference for low-energy devices like tablets and mobiles and the judicious application of artificial intelligence reflect the NHS's commitment to a greener future.
2. Browser-Based Services: The NHS recognises the power of modern web technologies, advocating for all digital services to be browser-based and built on open web standards. This approach not only enhances user flexibility but also aligns with the mobile-first mindset. A strategic move away from Internet Explorer 11 towards modern browsers is encouraged, ensuring seamless accessibility across a variety of devices. The shift to browser-based tools also unlocks continuous security updates and improvements, providing a strong defence against cyber threats.
3. Internet First: Embracing the Internet as the default means of accessing information is the essence of the third principle. By adopting internet standards and protocols, the NHS maximises compatibility, enabling a wide range of technologies and digital services to cater to diverse user needs. This principle not only promotes decentralisation but also highlights the importance of data accessibility, echoing the freedom of accessing email from anywhere. The emphasis on public internet accessibility aligns with the NHS's commitment to digital transformation.
4. Public Cloud First: The fourth principle reflects the NHS's readiness to embrace the advantages of cloud computing. By moving digital services to the public cloud whenever feasible, the NHS accelerates deployment timelines and reduces emissions. This cloud-first approach allows the NHS to harness the scalability, agility, and cost-efficiency offered by cloud services. However, it also acknowledges that in some cases, specific service level characteristics or cybersecurity concerns may warrant deviations from this cloud-first strategy.
5. Data Layer with Registers and APIs: The fifth principle orchestrates a symphony of data management, focusing on efficient storage and accessibility through open APIs. Storing data once, and making it available through standardised interfaces, not only reduces costs but also ensures data consistency and security. By breaking down silos and promoting interoperability, this principle sets the stage for smarter and more agile healthcare services.
6. Adopting Cyber Security Standards: The sixth principle mandates adherence to cybersecurity standards, compelling architects to keep software, networks, and systems up to date. This dedication to security underpins public trust and patient confidentiality, ensuring that health and care services remain safeguarded.
7. Using Platforms: The seventh principle promotes collaboration and efficiency by encouraging the use of existing platforms. Reusing common infrastructure not only saves time and resources but also contributes to sustainability efforts. The adoption of this principle not only reduces architectural debt but also streamlines operational processes, ultimately benefiting patients and healthcare providers.
8. Putting User Needs First: User-centred design is essentially the eighth principle. Designing services around user needs enhances usability, inclusivity, and cost-effectiveness. By complying with legal requirements, conducting user needs analysis, and adhering to UX design principles, the NHS ensures that digital services cater to a wide spectrum of users, contributing to a more accessible and equitable healthcare landscape.
9. Interoperability with Open Data and Technology Standards: The ninth principle shines a light on the significance of open data and technology standards. Embracing open standards not only facilitates interoperability between different systems but also promotes innovation by allowing seamless integration of emerging technologies. This interoperability lays the foundation for a flexible and future-ready healthcare infrastructure.
10. Reuse Before Buy/Build: The final principle encourages the reuse of existing solutions or considering off-the-shelf products before resorting to new builds underscores the NHS's commitment to cost-effective and environmentally conscious practices. By minimizing redundancy and maximizing resource utilization, this principle contributes to a more streamlined and agile digital architecture.
Overall the NHS Architecture Principles for digital services encapsulate a holistic approach to designing and implementing a robust, user-centric, and sustainable healthcare ecosystem. These principles reflect the NHS's commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility, reshaping the way healthcare services are conceptualised and delivered. By following these guiding principles, architects and service designers can play a pivotal role in revolutionising digital healthcare.

Agile Creativity – Principle #4: Daily Collaboration
(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve's Tumblr)
Now the fourth Principle of Agile Software, which we'll be re-purposing for creative work, is simple until you think about it for two seconds. It states.
Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project.
Easy, right? First, let's tweak this a bit for creatives
Customers and creatives must work together daily throughout the project.
Still simple, but I'm pretty sure you've been in situations where you couldn't get someone to talk. Or respond to email. You probably wondered if they were OK. Maybe the Fourth principle is harder than it looks . .
At the same time, despite your disbelief, you probably see the value in this. If you and whoever you're doing work for are in communication, you work better, get feedback better, and so on. Work becomes easier, faster, and friendlier.
It's just that this sounds like it'd be real hard to implement.
So let's break this Principle down - and focus on how you make it work - to everyone's benefit.
Customers And Creatives Must Work Together . . .
This is a bit of a "duh" rule. But pause for a second and ask yourself what working together with the customer *really* means.
This Principle doesn't say one is in charge and the other isn't. It's not about following a plan or not doing it. It's the idea that you and your customer work together. You're a team, even if one of you sort of started all of this and is probably paying the bills.
So you want to make sure you and whoever you're doing creative work for are actually cooperating together to get a result and thinking of yourselves as working together. This is a bit of a radical mindshift (probably for both of you) and you can help encourage it because, well, you're reading this. Approach working with your creative customers as a team effort, which means:
Encourage cooperation (of course).
Treat work as succeeding (and failing) together.
Develop a team approach, think of yourself as a team, cultivate that.
Include customers (when appropriate) in activities, from status reports to team lunches.
By the way, this may have you askin "hey, who is my customer." We'll get to that, but let's finish off looking at the Foruth principle.
. . . daily throughout the project
Yes. The Fourth Agile Principle expects you to work with your customer daily throughout the project. The reason for this is obvious - you're in touch with the people you're doing work for. Talking to them and communicating with them to get questions answered, get feedback, etc. means two things:
You're better directed towards the goal (even when it changes).
It develops good teamwork (which leads to informal improvements).
Yes, you are in contact daily, interacting, daily, and by now you're probably thinking "how the heck can I do that?"
Ideally, you'd be in touch with people you're doing work for all the time; indeed, ideally you'd work with them in person. In actual reality, in an age of conference calls and distributed teams, it's a lot harder to work with people daily. I find the best way to solve this is - literally - just do your best and be aware of it.
It's an ideal to aspire you. A few things I've found that help are:
Chat programs. Just passing an update to someone can help.
Email summaries and statuses. Sending quick daily updates helps.
Open Hours. Have a time in your schedule where someone can contact you; maybe you even sit in on a conference call or voice chat and anyone can swing by.
Talk to some if not all people. If your customer contact involves multiple people, touch base and work with as many of them as you can, even if it can't be or doesn't need to be all.
Cultivate customer communication. Help the customer develop this communicate-with-team attitude as well.
Radiators. Have some kind of chart, status sheet, document dump, working beta, that people can look at and use to get update. It's passive communication, but it's something.
I tend to solve the need for regular communication by mixing regular methods (daily updates, radiators) and informal (using chat programs and upates). Combined together, people stay in touch overall, even if individual methods don't cover everyone.
And yes, trying to convince people daily communication is a good idea may be hard. If you've got people who are heads down, who like their privacy, etc. it may be harder. Cultivating this is going to be a bit of work.
Ultimately, I find this part of the Fourth Principle ultimately wraps up with the first part. You work together, you cooperate. As you do so, you're better able to communicate daily because you're more of a team.
But there's a complication . . .
The Fourth Principle's Complication: Client and Audience
The Fourth principle may sound hard to implement, but it's an easy one - except but there's another wrinkle. There's the customer and then there's the audience . . .
If you're doing a logo, it's easy - the customer asks for a logo. You make it. The customer's customers, the "audience" may or may not like it, but it's probably no big deal.
But what if you're making a tutorial? Someone may ask you to make that tutorial, and you work as a team, but isnt the audience someone you need to keep in mind, because that tutorial is for THEM. The audience is also a bit more of a customer.
Now take this all the way; you're an author. You have no direct customer or customer team, just a lot of readers, some of which you're in touch with some of which you aren't. How do you collaborate with that ?
When working to use the Fourth Principle as guidance, you'll need to understand just who the customer is and just who the audience is. It might not be easy.
Rounding Up
Let's review the Fourth Agile Principle for Creatives:
Delivering useable work focuses your efforts on what to deliver and how to deliver.
By delivering work as early as possible, you get feedback on the work you've done, which improves the results and communications.
Delivering work frequently creates feedback, communication, trust, and transparency.
Frequent delivery of useable work requires you to develop the best way to deliver, improving how you operate.
The shorter the timeframe the better, as it increases all the advantages of delivering useable work.
Frequent delivery of work provides direction, guidance, communication, and builds trust - areas that creative work needs, but that are also very challenging.
One simple Principle that packs a lot of benefits - and a lot of challenges - in. Worth taking to heart, just be ready for the actions it'll take to make it real.
But, you're someone that probably wants to improve and grow - as does everyone on your team. Let's look at that in the Fifth Agile Principle.

Sword aunt online.
Lore dump under the cut.
This is Kesh Ka, Raven Beak's aunt on his mother's side. She is part of a monastic order known as the Severed Talons in the Federation's common tongue. They are reputed with the ability to manifest blades of sheer energy, not that you'll find a Ghiska spear-maiden without a physical edge or two on her hip.
The Ghiska are a subsect of Mawkin warrior monks who spend a good deal of their lives in isolation. They gather every third, sixth, twelfth, and twenty-fourth day of the month in a monastery nestled between four peaks. Their fighting style is an acrobatic blend of spear maneuvers and unarmed trickery. The Ghiska also train in the use of single-handed weapons.
The Ghiska value the principles of balance, agility, and a deft mind. Balance is the ability to stay stable and on your feet in the heat of battle, and agility refers to the swiftness and accuracy of one's strikes. A deft mind is one that is soothe and focused amid chaos, and permits a warrior to invoke the Severed Talon.
Kesh Ka brought Raven Beak to the monastery during his youth as part of his (rather extensive) combat training.

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.
My phone buzzed under my pillow causing me to stir lightly. A soft purr left my lips as I stretched. I hopped out of bed and turned off my alarm. Today is Friday, the last day of my first week at UA as a support corse teacher. Today was also special because the teachers are having a little party after school. I haven't met all of the teachers at UA high school but hopefully today will be my chance to get better aquatinted with everyone.
I strolled over to my bathroom to begin getting ready. I completed my morning routine before getting dressed. I put on my hero costume before having a quick breakfast and heading out. As I reached the school I began walking to my classroom, only to run into principle Nezu.
"Hey there principal Nezu." I smiled and waved at him as he walked the hall sipping from his tea cup.
"Well hello there ms (hero name)!" How are you?"
"Pretty nervous about tonight actually" I said with a nervous chuckle. "Oh? Why so nervous?"
"Well I haven't met all the teachers yet so the thought of meeting everyone at a party is pretty nerve racking."
"Aah, I understand. Have a good one ms. (Hero name)."
"You too." I entered the teachers lounge and began to put away my things at my desk. My good friend hound dog came into the teachers lounge and we greeted each other carrying on simple conversation. The teachers lounge intercom cut on stopping us in our little back and fourth.
"Good morning teachers, tonight social event will be held in meeting room A starting at 5 pm. See you there and have a wonderful day."
Small sighs and groans were heard going around before midnight spoke. "Alright, who told Nezu about our party?" I kept my head down and bit the inside of my lip now realizing what I had done. To be fair I didn't know it was supposed to be a secret. I heard a small growl coming from next to me as I tried desperately to not turn around. He knew it was me, we've known each other for far too long. He's the one who helped me land my job at UA. Knowing hound dog would spaz on me I decided to jump ahead of the situation. I stepped out from my desk and bowed continuously as I spoke.
"It was me everyone, I wasn't aware that the party was a secret. I apologize for my incompetence. I will make it up to all of you in any way that I can, I promise." There were some mumbles here and there, mainly about the tea Nezu brought but I turned back to my desk finished unpacking and headed to my classroom to start my day.
Time skip
Immediately after school I headed to my room on campus to start preparing goodies for the party to try and smooth things over. With only a few hours to have everything ready, in the lounge and have time to get ready I had to move quick. I made onigiri, mochi, coffee milk tea with boba, tea sandwiches and tea cookies. I even brought a couple apple sauce pouches and juice pouches. As I finished making things one by one and I transported everything to the meeting room with the help of my amazing student Mei Hatsume and her brilliant gadgets. I rushed back to my room to do some light cleaning and self touch ups before heading over to the party.
Not realizing how long I had taken, when I had arrived to the party most people were already there and enjoying the refreshments I made. There was tea also set out on the table that was barely touched. Not long after I showed up hound dog arrived. "Hey, I figure out how to make it up to everyone. I made refreshments, you should have some."  He grumbled and we talked for a little before he told me to at least eat a little of what I made. After all the cooking I wasn't that hungry. Not wanting to hear the loud barking for disregarding what he suggested I went to the front to get a coffee milk tea. As I was pouring other people around the table grabbed other refreshments. Suddenly a loud voice rang through the room.
"Yo! Who made all these amazing snacks?!" The voice was unmistakable, present mic. The room continued its casual conversation so he blurted out again, this time even louder. "WHO MADE THESE DOPE SNACKS?!" Hound dog's growl could be heard across the room before he barked out. "(HERO NAME) DID YOU IDIOT, SHES RIGHT NEXT TO YOU AND ERASERHEAD!"
Suddenly all eyes were on me as Nezu approached me. "Oh ms. (Hero name), thank you for making these wonderful refreshments. They compliment my tea so well. You're fitting right in at UA. Have some of the tea, you may like it."  He walked off and all conversation resumed. "The tea is good but it's always the same. Eventually you get tired of it." I turned my head to see eraserhead next to me.
"Thanks for the advice, I'm (hero name)." He let out a chuckle. "Yeah I heard. Nice to meet you." He grabbed a cup of boba and a juice box before walking off. I stood around introducing myself to a few people here and there. Eventually I was in a corner drinking my boba and just watching. Getting to the bottom of my drink I went for the last juice box only to collide hands with someone else. I looked up to see eraser again. I chuckled as I placed my hand on the juice box. "Sorry, but you're not getting the last juice box."
"Tch. I think I am." His voice was gruff as he also grabbed the juice box. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Are you willing to fight for it?"
Before I knew it eraser and I had snuck off to the training arena with the juice box to find out who would be getting it. We sat down the juice box on the bleachers and moved down to the city area of the training arena.
"First one to take down the other and reach the gate gets the juice box. Agreed? And since you're pretty well known and I'm aware of your quirk I'll at least tell you the name of mine." He sneered lightly under his breath causing me to glance up at him. "The name of my quirk is neko- neko, pretty self explanatory, no? So how about we get started?" I took my stance and so did he. "Sounds pretty rational to me."
My ears twitched as he took his stance. My tail curled as my eyes changed from black to green. "Then let's begin." I immediately jumped as high as I could into the air dropping down into an ally. Hearing the sound of his infamous scarf following behind me I took off sprinting. I have to stay out of his line of vision. Hiding under one of the nearby buildings I watched him carefully. His demeanor calm almost as if this wasn't a challenge. He walked slowly through the ally his hair suddenly went up. He's using his quirk. His scarf went flying through the air followed by him. He landed on top of a light post with his scarf wrapped loosely around him.
"I'm going to get that last juice box." He said as his hair stayed on end. But why? Why is continually using his quirk? It has to be draining, but why is he doing it?
"Oh come on? You think so?" I stalked around the arena as I spoke. "Come on man, there's apple sauces left too. Did you even try them?"
"I did, and they were quite enjoyable but I can't live without my juice boxes." I creeped closer and closer toward him as I spoke. "Well I hate to break it to you, but you may have to because I don't play fair." I jumped up behind him and wrapped my tail around his eyes as my claws grabbed onto him. I stood up and leaned back causing us both to fall toward the ground. Immediately using his scarf he wrapped it around the top of a high buildings. I sprinted up his scarf connected to the building. "I figured you out." I yanked on his scarf as hard as I could to send him flying as I pounced over toward the juice box. "Your quirk doesn't work on genetic mutations." Grabbing the juice box with my tail I poked the straw through and took a sip.
I turned back around to eraser gathering his scarf with his quirk. A long tear was visable on his scarf. I immediately jumped down made my way to eraser. "I am very sorry, my deepest apologies. I didn't mean to damage your scarf, I should have filed down my claws. Please accept the juice box and my sincerest apologies." I frantically apologized as I held out the juice box to him with my tail. A chuckle left his lips as he gently touched my tail and pushed the juice box back towards me. "It's fine, I'm actually quite impressed. Keep the juice box, you won it fair and square." He turned to walk out, speaking before he walked away. "Your coffee boba is one of the best I’ve had by the way. We're sparring for that next."
He disappeared as I took a sip of the juice box barely able to contain my excitement and hold back my smile. I just got to spar with THE eraser head.
   Two days later
It was now monday and I was headed to the school. Reaching the teachers lounge right before the bell rang I saw eraser on his was out. I stopped him and spoke. "I know you don't like being late to class but I just wanted to give you this really quickly. Again, I am very sorry." I handed him the box in my hands as he slowly opened it. His slow sleepy motions along with his tired eyes went from looking drained to drained and cheerful— almost.
"You have to lift the scarf, theirs something else under it. He sat the box down and pulled out the new scarf I made for him over the weekend with my knowledge of support gear. He sat the scarf to the side and immediately picked up one of the 12 juice boxes I had given him. "Here let me help." I grabbed the old torn scarf from around his neck with my tail and set it to the side. Finally seeing his full face for more than a moment, I didn't let my eyes linger too long. Picking up the scarf with my freshly filed claws I wrapped it around his head and stepped back.
"I hope you like it, I made a few modifications but I'll let you figure those out on your own. Let me know if there's any problems or anything I can do eraser head." I walked toward my desk and placed my things down. "Sparring session after school to see who pay for drinks tonight. Training arena 5pm sharp. Don't be late." He began walking out with the box in hand as my face flushed. He stopped on his way out and turned to me. "Thank you (yn)." He stepped out and I had an internal excitement almost too much to contain. And to think, all this was for a juice box.

A Very Palpable Hit
That long thread with @nonchalantdanger about Roxanne’s skill with a sword and where it could possibly come from finally made me decide to dip my pen (or my keyboard, rather) back into the tiny, but dedicated fandom of Cyrano de Bergerac.  Writing these characters is still quite a challenge, but quite a fun challenge, I think, and this was a fun kinda-sorta prompt to do.  I hope I did them justice, and I hope everyone enjoys this little piece!
Roxanne was pacing frantically to and fro in front of the fireplace in her villa, casting a long pink shadow across the red flames as she turned across the carpet so vigorously she might strikes flames behind her own feet and wear a hole in it.  Cyrano had grown restless just looking at her and was now standing behind the chair he’d been previously sitting in, arms folded over the back and chin propped pensively on his hands as he watched.  All of the Robin family maids, including her Duenna, had been sent away for the evening—it was only the two of them.  And the anxiety in the air could have been cut with a knife.
“I mean, I know it’s considered some sort of—of romantic custom for a man to fight for the honor of his lady love, but we are hardly living in the dark ages anymore, are we?” Roxanne was saying on her fourth lap back and forth, wringing her twisted hands demonstratively as she spoke.  “And besides, I would hardly call it romantic.  No, I would call it barbaric—I mean, at what point does it become less about the lady in question and more about some—some pompous popinjay proving his ego is larger than his opponent’s?  It seems ridiculous that the other preciuses allow themselves as prizes to be one in such a monstrous game, and I refuse to be the reason some poor feckless idiot gets skewered like a prize goose or a bunch of innocent bystanders are slashed to ribbons… I know it’s hardly ladylike, but I say it’s hardly manly to act so childishly on a lady’s behalf…”
“What exactly are you proposing?” Cyrano cut in as gently as he could.  The poor girl was working herself into a sweat, and she hadn’t even come to her point yet.
Stopping in her tracks, Roxanne turned to face him, fully silhouetted in front of the fire… beautiful and terrible, like a vision of Beatrice in the Inferno.   “I propose… no, I demand that you teach me everything you know about swordplay. I do not wish to debut into society a defenseless woman.”
Cyrano was taken aback… and it occurred to him in the same moment that maybe he shouldn’t be.  The girl who had been Roxanne—Madeleine, actually, once upon a time—had always been spirited, proud, and independent.  But she was also fearful, hiding behind him at the first sight of bullies.  Timid and shy at the idea of anything beyond those wide, empty Gascony fields.  Now here she was in the city.  Now here she was… unafraid.  Bold.  Determined to make her way with grace and, dare he say it, panache.
Now she was a woman. He’d known that before, he supposed, and not been nearly so surprised.  But not until now had his heart fluttered so in his chest at the thought.
But he quickly hid it under a smile—not a mocking one, but an understanding one—as he straightened. “So this is your solution.  Not content with the role of Guinevere, you instead intend to fashion yourself as Joan of Arc, a one-woman divine army against these… boastful infidels.”  Painting the image in the air before him with his hands, he wandered forward closer to Roxanne.  “Does that not seem a bit extreme, though?”
“Well, you’ve said so yourself, there are things one does well to carry to extremes!  Besides… you…”  She rushed forward and seemed less divine, but more human as she squeezed his hands pleadingly.  “You have made yourself a hero.  The finest swordsman in your regiment, everyone says so.  And even before then… you were the hero of my childhood.  My knight of the riverbanks.  If I were to ask anyone, it would be you and only you.” She gave his hands another tight squeeze.  “Will you?”
The words dried in his mouth for a moment, but he managed to find them again.  “How could I possibly refuse?”  Cyrano gave her hands a gentle squeeze in return and was relieved to find his own still dry.  “My princess turned page of the corn-silk hair.”  He said it with a joking air, but there was a tender sincerity lingering underneath.
And Roxanne’s face lit up with a smile of her own.  “Oh, thank you!”  She leaned up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.  “You won’t regret it I promise… oh, I shall need a sword.”
“Here, take mine.” Cyrano unsheathed his rapier and handed it to her before laying his scabbard on a nearby table and reaching for one of the Duenna’s walking sticks from a small rack beside the front door. “This is a bit heavier, but it shall suffice.  But let us take this outside—no use in skewering any innocent inanimate bystanders.” The maids might collectively pin him to the wall like a butterfly if they damaged any of the family’s valuables. Opening the door, he bowed her outside before following into the front yard.  Fortunately for them, there was a gorgeous full moon out tonight, and there was still enough light from the nearby streetlamps to see in case of sudden clouds.  He hung his cloak on the rose trellis and tested the walking stick a bit, weighing it in his hand as he tried a few lunges and basic maneuvers.  Not exactly the finest Italian steel, but it would work just fine.  This wasn’t exactly going to be the sort of rigorous training the cadets went through—with any luck, the worst Roxanne would have to do was smack away an errant hand.
A little ways behind him, Roxanne was doing the same thing, twirling the rapier over in her hand and swishing the blade back and forth like a machete in the jungle.  “It’s much lighter than I thought it would be.”
“It needs to be—it’s a weapon of grace and agility, not necessarily of brute force.  Keep that in mind as you wield it.  And now…”  Cyrano lowered into a crouch, makeshift blade at the ready in front of him.
Roxanne’s eyebrows shot up. “You intend to throw me into the deep end so quickly?”
“A fish learns to swim by the same principle.  Advance, mermaid of Orleans, and let us see how much you already know.”  Swinging the stick up in a salute then down to his side, he waited for Roxanne to copy his movements before waiting… waiting for her to strike first.
Eventually she did, dramatically lunging forward toward his shoulder, but Cyrano deftly blocked her. Roxanne backed away to try again with the other shoulder, but met the same result.  “You’ve learned to thrust, to disengage, and to re-engage well enough, I see… let us see how you deal with this.”  Swinging his stick around again, he feinted toward her free arm, then raised up to land a hit on her opposite shoulder.  The whole time, Roxanne followed his hand with her eyes, her sword bobbing vaguely in that general direction, but not raising it quick enough to fend him off.  As she stumbled back, startled, Cyrano lowered his stick again.  “That was called a feint—a maneuver designed to mislead. You anticipated the feint so much that you missed the hit.”
“But how am I to keep up?” she asked, holding her shoulder even though Cyrano had barely tapped her. “You move so fast, I can hardly see.”
“For a start, try not to watch my hand.  The hand can deceive, as you’ve just seen… look here instead.”  He tapped his chest.  “Then let your eyes unfocus a bit—it will allow you to see your opponent as a whole, not just the nearest moving parts.  Now… shall we begin again?”
Roxanne nodded, sinking into her best crouch to mirror Cyrano, her body leaned forward instead of back.  “Do not try to go easy on me.”
“Oh, perish the thought, my dear.”  And this time he moved first, moving toward her shoulder and then to her arm in a reverse of his last maneuver.  This time she caught on, catching his stick on her blade and trying to push him back, but he was quick with a riposte, pulling back just far enough to tap the side of her hand.  Unfazed, she pressed forward again—a breach of the rules of engagement, but he’d allow it for now—trying in vain to land just the slightest touch on him each time he parried.  At one point, Cyrano dropped his stance the slightest bit lower and thrust toward her shoulder.  When Roxanne lifted her guard up to parry in turn, he dropped his posture even lower to level his stick just at her collarbone.
Falling back a step, the sword almost dropped from Roxanne’s hand as she stared tremulously down at the hit he’d scored.  “Well, I… I did tell you not to go easy on me,” she said with an uneasily flickering smile.
It was all he could do to keep firm, not to dissolve instantly in the face of her fear.  He’d regretted the hit as soon as it landed, and yet…  “That may be a worse case scenario.  God willing, you will never meet a man with such cruel intentions.  But make it a lesson as well.”  Taking her hand and tightening it around the pommel of her sword, he raised it up again at the level of her chest.  “Keep your guard level for as long as you can.  Too high or too low, and you may end up with a terrible cut to show for it.”  Straightening to his full height again, Cyrano gave what he hoped was an encouraging look.  “Shall we try again?”
Nodding resolutely—more to reassure herself than him, he suspected—Roxanne took her stance once more. Cyrano struck first again in a quick lunge, but she caught it flat and spun it away in a bit of a flourish.  A grin flashed across her face before she was back to business once more and they fell into their slow, but steady routine of thrust-parry-riposte, thrust-parry-riposte, with an occasional respite of some new maneuver that he would patiently guide her through. Roxanne was sent retreating more often than not, but every so often she would gain some ground.  If she got too cocky, however, and started bouncing back and forth like an excited puppy, Cyrano quickly put a stop to that, flicking his stick down to her waist in a light hit.  “Your footwork is merely a steady tempo, not meant to ornament the passage.  Keep yourself even and upright—small steps, but never so many in a row.”  His own form didn’t stick so strictly to those guidelines, heaven knew, but it was very good advice for a beginner.  Instantly chastened, Roxanne nodded, and they started again.
This time, Cyrano squared his chest toward her, hoping she would take the bait.  As she went for the attack, he stepped to the side and almost caught her square on the inside of one shoulder… but to his amazement, she saw the feint and dropped her arm in that spare split second, blocking his blade within inches of her sleeve.  Pushing him back a few steps, their routine continued—thrust-parry-riposte, thrust-parry-riposte, thrust-parry-disengage this time-parry-riposte.  Thrust-parry-disengage… Roxanne swung her sword forward in a broad cut, Cyrano waited for the right moment to press his attack… and she stepped to the side and fairly jabbed at his shoulder in a triumphant shove.
“Ha!”  She lifted her sword over her head like a gladiator expecting cheers from the Coliseum.  “Victory at last!  I hope that was… oh—oh, no…”
Cyrano tried to smile even as he muffled the newly bleeding cut under his hand.  “Yes… true blades tend to elicit this sort of reaction.  It’s very shallow, you needn’t worry—”
“But I am worried! Oh, Cyrano…”  Dropping the sword in the grass, Roxanne rushed forward and urged him to sit down next to her.  “I ask you to teach me to fight, and I thank you by stabbing you… let me see it, please…”
“It’s barely a scratch, Roxanne, not worth so much fuss… call it well-deserved revenge for my earlier hit, I suppose.”  But Cyrano obliged, loosening his doublet just enough to lower the shoulder of the shirt underneath.  It was indeed a relatively shallow cut, but long and already deep red, like the nick of a shaving blade.  Roxanne immediately pulled out her handkerchief to try and staunch the blood, and Cyrano could only hope and pray she couldn’t feel how warm his skin had suddenly grown there under her touch.  He almost made a comment to lighten the mood about her old fits of motherly sternness, where she would scold him for earning cuts and scrapes like these in fights against the big boys… but the words dried in his mouth again.  They didn’t feel right.  Not now.  This… felt different.
“I am so sorry,” Roxanne was saying, alternating between keeping pressure on the cut and wiping away the blood.  “You told me to be so careful, and I’ve been such a reckless oaf, and you’ve been so patient… can you forgive me?”
“There is nothing to forgive.”  Catching her hand, he lowered the handkerchief away before quickly letting go. “This… unforgivable sin in your mind is merely an accident in mine.  And this accident may be taken as a sign of improvement.  It was, after all, the first hit you landed upon me.”  No, not the first… but he didn’t dare say that out loud.
Her response was a very strained, guilty smile.  “I suppose so… I only wish I hadn’t been so rough.”  She raised her eyes to meet his, and her smile became a little more genuine. “Thank you… if for nothing else, for being so patient with me.  I know I shall never be as good as you.”
“In a single evening? Impossible.  But good enough to defend yourself against the common ruffians of Paris and prevent a glorified cockfight on your behalf?”  He offered a new smile of his own, something finally approaching those lightning flashes of audacity that often struck him.  “Undoubtedly.”  Offering Roxanne a hand, he climbed back to his feet and picked his makeshift blade back up.  “And while we still have moonlight to spend, we might as well make the most of it… shall we continue?”
“Are you sure?” she inquired, picking up her sword again.  “With your shoulder?”
“My shoulder has withstood much crueler and more purposeful assaults—I shall survive.”  Sweeping the stick up in a new salute, Cyrano angled his body toward Roxanne’s once more as he sank into his stance.  “Lay on, good saint, and show me God’s wrath within your woman’s fury.”
With a salute of her own, erect and self-assured, Roxanne pressed on.

THE HARE AND THE RABBIT
Tumblr media
Hare and rabbit are lunar animals. Whether in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa or anywhere else in the world, they are associated with the moon. They can be seen in the dark spots on the night sky.
But they are also linked to the Goddess Earth (for those whose beliefs it is), as well as to the underworld because they dig galleries.
They are therefore linked to the element of the earth.
In our rural cemeteries, where he frequently makes his home, it is not uncommon to see him rising from an old grave. His procreative faculty makes him a symbol of fecundity associated with the moon and its fecundating power. So its image can be used during your ritual or Sabbath of feconditer as in Ostara.
Naturally fearful, the hare is associated with fear. The expression running away like a hare (or a rabbit) evokes this fear, but being crazy like a rabbit alludes to the animal's lustfulness. The rabbit's foot is known to be a powerful good-luck charm.
In cultures and religions :
In Egypt, Osiris is, in his animal form, represented by a hare.
In Islam, Ali, the descendant of the Prophet, appears as a hare symbolizing the sacrificed son. The idea of the divine sacrifice symbolized by the death of the hare is also present in Buddhism. The Boddhisattva takes the appearance of a hare to throw himself into the flames. Likewise, a hare burns himself to death to feed the starving Buddha.
Östara in Germanic countries, Easter in Anglo-Saxon countries, is a goddess of fecundity who is celebrated at the spring equinox, a moment when day and night are of equal length, and who announces germination - in other words, resurrection. Her symbolic animal is the hare. Östara and Easter are to be compared with Astarte / Ishtar / Aphrodite / Venus.
As an image linked to the Goddess, the hare has long symbolized paganism in Christianity. Its capture by a hunter was once a metaphor for defeated paganism. But because it is lunar and therefore of a changing and ambivalent nature, it also represents the divine Son, Christ, sacrificed [10] and risen. Moreover, in Christian iconography, three hares in a circle and united by their ears is a symbol of the Trinity. 11] They can also recall the three phases of the moon (rising, full, falling). A white hare lying at the feet of Mary (Our Lady) embodies victory over the "temptation of the flesh".
In Native American myths, the hare is a cultural hero, cunning, clever, capable of defeating stronger than himself (bears, buffaloes), a product of Robin Hood, Peter Pan and the Trickster. This divine rascal, whose universality was demonstrated by C. G. Jung, symbolically resembles Mercury, the god of thieves and cheaters, the mischievous rascals, himself a symbol of the first stage of the alchemists' Mercury. Just like the child Mercury who became Hermes, the messenger of the gods, the Amerindian lunar hare can transcend itself into a "big rabbit" or "big hare", also an intercessor between men and the divine principle (the Great Manitou).
The hare is the fourth sign of the Chinese zodiac. In mythology, the moon is inhabited by a jade hare very busy preparing an elixir of Immortality. It is a symbol of long life. It represents the cyclical and perpetual renewal of life and nature. The Chinese lend the animal qualities of lucidity and clairvoyance. Indeed, the hare is born with its eyes open.
In dreams, rabbit and hare are distinguished. The rabbit, associated with lust because of its unbridled sexuality and its proliferation, can signify an overflow of libido but also any proliferation that has no apparent connection with sexuality. The hare, on the other hand, is associated with speed, running, rapidity. It can symbolize dynamism, agility, reflexes and the instinctive intelligence of the dreamer.
For this post I used the ''dictionnaire des symboles'' site. I translated it and put it back to my liking.
