I said that I would do a little trip report if I ever bought some of those cheap Chinese fountain pens on AliExpress, well I bought two Jin Hao pens for around $20 total and wow, they're really nice. The nib on the silver one writes more smoothly than the nib on my Parker IM which cost me $100 back in 2011. I spent $8 on this pen. Goddamn. They're just both really nice pens with very smooth nibs and they came with convertors with very large reservoirs. The small converter was my only real complaint with the Jin Hao pen I already owned (the nib on that one isn't as smooth either). Also love how the Green one's clip is in the shape of a guitar, I didn't even notice that when I ordered it.
I should buy a few more bottles of ink. I really like J. Herbin inks, I use them exclusively. I should get a few more colours, they've got a nice pale purple called "Poussière de Lune", and I'm running low on the "Bleu Nuit" blue and "Lie De Thé" brown, I've got enough to last me a while though.
But yes, Chinese fountain pens from AliExpress, they're very good.

miami finds you on a sugar dating site and flies you in for the weekend. he picks you up at the airport in his mustang, latin music blasting all the way. he takes you down to the beach first thing for a swim and to show off his ripped abs, then as it gets dark, he takes you to española way for mojitos and a cuban place for dinner. he talks to all the staff in loud rapid spanish and is a big tipper. his shirt becomes gradually more and more open over the night until it’s hanging loose. on the ride back to his suite at the fountain bleu he slides your panties off, and when you arrive and the valet opens the door, he casually slips them into his upper jacket pocket, then steps out, zips himself back up, and finally takes your hand and leads you inside
publishing this ask for no reason now whoops
#im not the biggest fan of like Sexy Latine Lover Miami but u r right#ask post#im kindve obsessed w the namedroppung going on here#u had a really vivid vision

People are concerned about Tiktok brainwashing the youth but I'm 37 and the entire architecture of my brain is early 90s food branding and advertising. Walls of fruit roll-ups, unfurling. Moulding of fruit-by-the-foot. Sconces made of Wendy's Chicken Cordon Bleus. A window of Zima bottles. A stairwell patterned like an arizona iced tea can, with popcorn chicken tumbling down…honey barbeque, hot wings… sinister fountains of red kool-aid… the red and white of Burger King popcorn buckets. Cross through a doorway and snap into a slim jim. Got milk? That's ok, the plumbing is thick with danimals yogurt smoothies. The floor is carpeted with Hershey's cookies and cream sprinkled through with NEW Doritos. Do you remember that Vienetta ice cream cake? I do! I remember it all! Every day. Who knows if I'd be better adjusted if my brain was full of visions of ipad baby games and trend dances instead.

Montblanc Boheme Bleu
The Montblanc Boheme was released in 2000 (though with related earlier models in 1999) and discontinued around 2015.
The pen is inspired by the safety filling fountain pens of the early 1900s, and features a retracting nib. The nib is extended and retracted by turning a knob on the back of the pen. Due to the small size when capped, the Boheme features threads on the nib extension knob to allow for screwing on the cap. This provides a more solid fit than common friction-based posting.
Unlike safety fillers, the Boheme uses short standard international ink cartridges. The knob on the back of the pen also is a small door that, when opened, allows for replacing the cartridge.
The Boheme came in dozens of finishes, from the more subdued rouge/noir/bleu, to models made of solid gold and/or coated in diamonds. The Bleu finish is made of black plastic ("resin"), platinum plated trim, 14k gold and rhodium-plated nib, and a synthetic sapphire.

Drop the $50 fountain pen stationary sites 🥺
my favourite places to snoop around are cultpens [best ink selection in the UK imo], jetpens, andy's pens [mix of old stock and vintage stuff], the writing desk and thepencompany. gouletpens has a youtube channel that i keep abreast of but i don't like buying from them because they're obsessed with noodler's who i fucking hate. fountain pen network is a great resource but website seems to be down right now. i'm gonna use this as an excuse to waffle now bc i love pens thank you.
at the moment i'm most interested in the TWSBI iris colourways (rainbow anodised metal !!!) [piston fill / vac fill] also their rose gold and jade green eco-t. i like the look and feel of brass pens, there's a few available but the traveler's company one seems to have best reviews atm. kaweco's is a very nice design though. have heard good things about opus88 and i have my eye on the halo. conklin duragraph is a lot less fun looking than most pens i'm into but they are really nice to write with and last forever.
this one [sailor hi-ace neo] is actually very cheap but are apparently the best starter calligraphy pens available right now. ferris wheel press have this gorgeous pen i'm very curious about but i've never tried any of their ink.
my favourite that i own so far is moonman c1. completely impractical for carrying around with me but i insist on doing it anyway. i really like lamy nibs but all the ones i like the look of have irritatingly tiny ink capacity. most of the time i'm just using a set of beat up old wing sun 3008s because you can get 4 for less than 20£ on amazon and as long as you take care of the nibs they're very hardwearing. it's basically the store brand version of a TWSBI diamond so i would recommend those over the 3008 if you can afford it.
some of my favourite inks: l'artisan pastellier [callifolio equinoxe 6 / classic vert lumiere] robert oster [signature blue denim] pilot [iroshizuku yama-budo / tsutstuji / tsukushi] diamine [soft mint / earl grey / writer's blood / monboddo's hat / peach haze] herbin [bleu calanque]
i also desperately still want this colorverse special edition set the colours are soooooo nice [new horizons]. for years you couldn't buy colorverse anywhere in the uk so now that it's available here it's taking immense self-control to not go absolutely batshit.
and honorable mention to this bad boy because she's 140$ but i want her so bad: YSTUDIO classic revolve

A pen or a work of art? Caran d’Ache Leman Grand Bleu
One of the finest pens in the world.
Bathed in light and ruffled by the wind, waves come to life in the depths of the finish of the Léman Grand Bleu. The delicately engraved background evokes the regular ripples of waves on the surface of Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman). A layer of translucent lacquer, reminiscent of the intense blue of the ocean depths, reveals these undulating reflections on the refined body of these writing instruments.
Fountain Pen - $784
Rollerball Pen - $516
Ballpoint Pen - $440
0.7mm Mechanical Pencil - $440
A great gift!

5/1/24: Rabbit Rabbit People (It's May 1). Leaving for Madrid tomorrow, to meet Mari at the airport and fly with her to Morocco!! So exciting, and makes it a tad easier to leave our comfy home here in Aix. I've enjoyed the concept of staying in one place to feel more like a local, take day trips, etc. But I actually think I'm ready to move on. I love this house, it's set up with such style and comfort, but I'm just ready to see more! If we were really staying for awhile, say 3-6 months, I might have tried a French Yoga class (here they just call it Yoga), or looked for a pottery studio or something. For 2.5 weeks, it's still mostly about getting out and seeing the sights. I feel like we were able to see a lot, plenty of legit getup-and-go hikes and walks and shopping around the region of Provence: Cassis, Calanques, Avignon, Rousillon, Mont-Sainte-Victoire, Marseille, and lots of little pit stops in an around the main villages. It rained on and off last few days, and we rearranged our plans around the weather. Today was the rainiest day, when we took a pic in front of the Fountaine Rotunde. Claude's favorite meal was the excellent fresh fish at Grand Bleu in Cassis. Let's see, what else? I think we tried at least 5 different boulangeries and pâtisseries. I loved La Fournaise the best I think for the cool looking olive bread, but Bechard had best sweet treats. There was also "the guy around the corner" who always had a couple decent croissants left for us, no matter how late we woke up that morning; there was the big Boulangerie on the main road out of town, which was handy on travel days; Paul (like highway patisserie, which we first discovered in Japan!!?); Weibel Pâtisserie is overrated as far as we are concerned, too famous and tourist machine-y! Local bio place, Lopin de Robin, a tiny shop in our neighborhood, where Robin himself gave us an extra chèvre au herbs de provence, and some nice dark chocolate made with Equadoran cacao and tiny crunchies, mmmmm. Let's not forget the Nespresso store that we passed through too many times (we had guests!) Plus they taught me that coffee is better with a little square of chocolate dropped in...
Not that it was ALL about the food and croissants and pastry, we also slept.

A Blue Velvet Renovation
Willow Creek's renowned Blue Velvet bar was in need of a bit of renovation. And Willow Creek was in need of a restaurant for family dinner or date night.
After an eternity, the new Blue Velvet showed itself: colorful and a bit more modern looking, the place is now a restaurant with a cafe on the side, and a shared courtyard with the original fountain in place!
No CC. The café is not functional (I tried hiring a barista with not result!) since this is a restaurant.
