Like a lot of us 😆 I saw a fan edit of Mickey & Ian on YouTube (I can't find it again even when I've searched my history 😭) I was kinda in between fandoms at the time with Malex from Roswell New Mexico but they were broken up at the time & buddie lol.

But then I was shot through the heart when I went through the gallavich tag & it felt like home 🥰

What surprised you most about this fandom?

Everything surprised me about this fandom bc it was my first one!! 😆 I didn't really know how to do tumblr & didn't really get how to interact. So I used tumblr like a sticker book, then came learning tags & so ppl reached out to me which helped me gain confidence haha

This is kinda a golden standard fandom. So welcoming, loving & encouraging!! If I ever dabble in another fandom, imma have a high standard bc I've been spoiled by y'all! ILY

Not sure if there is one, I have tried most tropes just to check them out, and I have liked tropes I don't normally like when it's just the once and it's done in some interesting or particularly skillful way, but I don't think I've ever done a 180 on something? I suppose! I usually start out only reading canon compliant fic when I'm first entering a fandom. Then I will either run out of steam or start reading AU, or fully just transition to only reading AU (which is what happened with Shameless, more or less). So I normally start out not liking AUs and then given enough time and steam, I will make AUs my whole personality.

What surprised you most about this fandom?

I'm really surprised by what it has become, it's so nice to see all the crafts and community building that's going on here every week, and how nice and drama free (from my vantage point anyway) it has become, in the last few years. I'm not very good at participating, but I really want to because it feels like such an open and welcoming and community-focused space.

The two things I wanted but didn’t get for Christmas were a pair of goruck shoes (I couldn’t find the color way I wanted in my size and I didn’t want to settle) and a Lululemon bag I’ve had my eye on for about a year. I love Lululemon bags, but I have other priorities right now and honestly I think that some of their bags are too expensive for what they are. Anyway, I got a FB ad for the bag today, so I clicked it, and it was $50 off and on final sale, which means they only have a few of them left. So I bought it. Couldn’t justify it at $128 but it’s a big hell yes for $80!

As for the shoes - the owners of the gym I coach for gave me a generous Rogue gift card for Christmas. Went to look around on the site yesterday and figured I should look at shoes to see if there was anything else I liked, since I couldn’t find the goruck ones. And I found the exact ones I had wanted, and I got them for free because of the gift card 😍

about a year ago, i walked through the living room while my dad was watching pawn stars. terrible show i don't recommend it. anyway, there was a guy pawning some art of this charcoal drawing of an angry-lookin dog, and i stopped and was like "oh my gosh i love that 😍"

unfortunately, they had already said the artist's name and i didn't wanna bug my dad to rewind his show, so i just left. but it kept bugging me bc i REALLY liked the art, so i went on fb and some of my friends and i tracked down the episode on hulu and finally got the name of the artist.

he was a mexican communist named david alfaro siqueiros and the drawing is called el guardian de la paz. you should read his wikipedia article sometime bc he led a wild life. i decided i needed to have this drawing on my wall, so i hunted far and wide on the internet trying to find a print or poster of it that i could frame, but i could not find a damn thing 😔

so i tried to find a high-quality digital copy of it so i could print my own damn poster on a printing website, but i couldn't find one of those either! 😫 turns out the drawing is not even on display anywhere, and it's still under copyright, so there are no prints or high-quality images available of it IRL or online.

i went back to facebook and moped about it in a post, and a friend of mine who is very good at touching up photos went ahead and found the highest resolution image he could find online and enlarged it so it could be printed on a poster. i was worried that it would turn out blurry or noticeably low-quality since he'd enlarged it so much, but i decided to take my chances anyway

so i ordered a poster of it from one of those printer websites that mostly do business cards and posters for companies and shit, and when it arrived i was surprised at how good it looked. i ordered a frame for it and now it's on my wall.

ANYWAY, that was a fun story about how the power of friendship and disdain for copyright laws can score you swag-ass posters for your room. 😎
