this game (sleeping gods) has a lot of rules and steps and details and it took me an hour to set it up because the setup paper was in tiiiiiny type lmao, BUT we got through one full round of turns successfully! and i could tell my bro in law and i enjoyed it, and i think i can swing the opinions of my sisters by next session.

we'll play through this game, and then the next stop might just be dungeons and dragons 😈 i'm trying to ease my sisters into the roleplaying aspect by introducing them to the story-telling part first with sleeping gods lol.

there are also choices to be made during this game, so there's a BIT of role-playing if you squint a lil. there was a man trapped in some ropes at one point and the active player had the options to either save him or ignore him and search the cave. so i was like "ooh, so are you going to be ruthless or compassionate in this game? 🤔 what kinda player are you?" trying to like, get my sister to consider what type of character she wanted to portray instead of just making an impulse choice lol. idk if it worked.

make sure to take little breaks every half hour or so

this is my gnome bard!!! his name is Sinmin Stormspark Steros, a name stolen entirely from DnD gnome name generators. You can call him Min. (no, not like the Wheel of Time lady) He's a quiet dude who plays his music on the viol at low-key inns where the village's elderly regulars and tired travelers go at the end of the day for a quiet drink before bed. He saves the bagpipes for battle music and Bardic Inspiration.

He gets into places with his calm manner and easy explanations as to why he and his crew should be there. He's just a chill guy and he makes everyone around him chill too.

He has a lil songbird called Patrice. She's actually red like a scarlet tanager but I haven't changed her color in HeroForge yet.
