This fic is so delicious; it's so dark and kinky. I think it has any kinks you wish for in it. Basically a found family trope, but what if all of us are serial killers. This fic says fuck to power imbalance hater and turns it into a game. God knows how many Hannibal fics I've read, and this has the best Abigail. Anyway, 🤌 through and through.

This is very intimate with stuck-in-a-cabin feel to it. I remember how I love reading it at night, it's fitting.

Following their descent down the precipice, Will is more than eager to explore his newly realized capacity for righteous violence. So when he catches a whiff of a string of seemingly unrelated homicides, he and Hannibal have no choice but to follow through the hunt.

An adventurous fic where Will is trying to embrace his newfound blood lust by hunting bad men. Featuring a team work with Freddy Lounds, which I think should happen more 😌

Basically Will got amnesia after the fall and he keeps trying to kill Hannibal when he relapses. The story matches the title very well; it's so heartbreaking and frustrating. Featuring Morgan (Alana and Margot's son) and Wally (Molly's son) bonding with each other. They're supporting characters but are written so well. The sequel has just started, but the first one is complete enough to read.

The Chesapeake Bay by HigherMagic

Aka thee classic Hannigram reality TV AU. So, they put Hannibal cast in isolated house where each of them is hiding something. Love love this. A lot of murders. It has classic thriller movies feel to it.

LOVE this series. So, Will is a serial killer who poses as hitchhiker to find his victims but one day Hannibal gave him a ride. They're basically falling in love watching the other killing others. The second story is set during Mardi Gras where they ofc try to kill more people.

Or: What if Hannibal hadn't tried to eat Will after he drugged him in Florence? What if he'd decided to run away with him instead?

In contrast with the previous title, this one is very calm, very therapeutic, a character study, with a mind game ofc.

Five years after Hannibal and Will disappeared, they are located in Spain, where all evidence points to Hannibal holding Will as his prisoner. Circumstantial evidence isn't enough to prove whether or not Will was complicit in Hannibal's crimes. It's up to Alana and Jack to figure out if Will is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome or if his attachment to his accused abuser is true love. It's up to Hannibal to once more find a way out of the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.

An icon and a must-read tbqh. The prose is so beautiful and it really brings you into a journey.

Like we can pull the most classic of all classics of cave giant which humans stumble soon and quickly become THEE besties ever (or lovers, Yknow) i mean if we DID then OBVIOUSLY we gotta get a giant Mr Eliot ‘self sufficient’ Spencer, i mean the man canonically gets only 90mins of sleep per day and is stupidly self sufficient, he even grows his own food it’s perfect! And obviously we gotta do the ot3 like?(remember if you don’t like a ship politely ignore me shipping this) Parker dragging Hardison out for a walk? Or hardison being forced to go outside by nana then later bringing Parker to meet his new friend? Or Parker living with Eliot for years and hardison stumbles across them and they decide ‘yep ours’ like cmon- so many options.

And that’s just the beginning of my word spiral. Now onto sizeshifters, in this setting sizeshifters can only do ‘one or the other’ to a certain extent, there are really rare cases where a person can do either sizing, so OBVIOUSLY Eliot gotta be a giant shifter and what else other than hardison and Parker being tiny shifters? And Sophie obviously is one of the few exceptionally rare cases where she can go either side, really helps to sell her characters wether it’s Lara who’s 5’4 or Claire who’s 5’7, keeps people on their toes. Nate is just Nate, nothing else really fits unless he can shift both sizes but by only centimetres. Either way Eliot growing would cap at say 18 feet and Parker shrinking would cap at 9 inches, perfect for all those vents. Then we gotta have a pocket hacker, now the team can simply transport him to where he’s gotta go without him being seen or hurt. And Yknow Eliot can wrap around them and use himself as a shield for them from the world cause i ADORE that trope

Eheherm BORROWERS?? can’t forget them so OBVIOUSLY it’s an au meaning things are a bitty little different aka Sophie and Nate get to be married at this point because congrats for healthy(?) relationships ANYWAYS the main plot here is that the leverage ot3 are the borrowers, in Nate and Sophie’s home because what I’m imagining here is that Parker steals Sophie’s stolens then returns them a few days later like they never left the stand (Sophie 100% knows let’s be real, it may be the leverage ot3 but, cmon, it’s Nate and Sophie) Hardison could borrow like old phones and little gadgets to fix up and still be the best hacker ever because the man’s is smart gotta let him be smart, then Eliot could defend the two from any mice or spiders or literally anything he deems dangerous but also like the most competent borrower among each other. and like once one of them is ‘caught’ (Nate and Sophie knew but this is probably more “oh no can’t pretend we don’t know about them anymore” kinda situation) almost immediately after being caught (be angsty if you want but i like silly happy fun times) Parker and hardison decide ‘yes these humans make good parental type role models’ and proceed to take over the house within the hour to which Eliot just does his little eye roll and fond sigh and then help them and now Sophie and Nate have three actual little gremlins to watch over because i really love their found family dynamics

nickei's crimes are. well he's a terrible guy really. so the project he belongs to is called The Disinformation Age and its essentially just attempting to flip a lot of superhero tropes on its head bc fuck genre conventions sometimes yk. nickei is a product of the a.r.c. (ability recognizance causal) initiative, and he is one of five "operatives" (you get a different title as you move ranks); when together, the operatives are called the archangel division. the city is called iridium city, which was built on the bones of another city - quite literally, as there are metal plates supporting the foundation of the new city atop the crumbling old city filled with dirt. sometimes these plates separate and cause you to access the old city, where many people live; those are the slums, and those are called "the gallows" (the old city was gallium city). nickei and ren (the other mc) were both in the initiative together when they were younger and were partners bc both of them were super smart and powerful, but Ren - who wanted to be a soldier and never had to be fed the same propaganda - saw past the silver lining and realized what the initiative was doing (essentially kidnapping and brainwashing kids into being child soldiers with public approval) and became a villain in response (bc TDA plays on thee concept of a manufactured heroic system bc the heroes need to stop the villains but the villains only happen bc the heroic system failed them). nickei, as his former partner, was the one dispatched to deal with it. but Ren, however, came out victorious; he murdered his best friend. (unfortunately for his sanity and to his relief, nickei comes back to life a year later. if you can't tell, they have a very complicated relationship.)

mars has some Connections inside the government, mostly just her using her familys wealth and influence to fund the stimulation. her and pike actually met through classes, shes studying the effects of different drugs on the brain and hes studying chemistry so they got along well (he's actually the first person to figure out theyre being drugged, but everyones so out of it they dont listen to him until its too late)

mars basically erases her existence after pike and cayce break out of the simulation, with a brief encounter in the lab where cayce asks, in tears, why mars did this to them (i thought you loved me?) and mars explained that maybe she could have, but this needed to be done (you're a part of something bigger than yourself) and then shoots cayce, paralyzing her from the hips down

ofc cayce still defends mars, clinging onto that last bit of hope that if she fixes whatever's wrong with her, if she tries hard enough maybe mars will come back for her and things can go back to how it was (which plays a part in the investigation, cayce is a bit of a smaller celebrity for her music before the incident and her voice holds a lot of sway) but ultimately the bodies of the rest are never found and mars gets away with it, the victims of the bleeding hearts experiment forever remembered as only missing persons (which is insanely traumatizing for marys little brother calamity, because she was the only one in their family who really cared for him even after he came out as trans and hes terrified because hes always wondered if his sister went missing because she was also trans)

I actually looked at my AO3 tags to see what I use most frequently, and I think "Plo Koon acting as [insert name's] parental figure" was the winner (he's parented Wolffe, Fox, and Ahsoka) with "Hurt/Comfort" and "Crosshair needs a hug" coming in at a close second and third. Honestly, I feel like that's pretty accurate; I loveeeee some good old fashioned hurt/comfort, and Plo Koon is just so dad shaped 👨🏻‍🦱 You won't see it reflected in what I've published on AO3, but I also love writing mutual pining, friends to lovers, established relationships, found family/sibling dynamics, and domestic fluff.

I feel like Red Sky At Morning is probably the closest I've come to writing a crack fic, and sometimes I reread it and give myself secondhand embarrassment 😂 Like, I can't believe I actually put those words in that order and then tossed it out into the world. But it was super fun!

Angst and fluff kinda go back and forth--I find both of them to be super easy and super challenging in turn, so they tend to switch off between 2 and 3. Right now, angst is ranking higher because Not Alone is so angsty and it's going well, but ask me again in a few hours and I might have a different answer haha.

And like I said for smut, I just haven't written any so it's at the bottom of the list. I often find music to be inspiring, so I have some ideas kicking around (Cody x Reader inspired by Sweetest Pie by Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa; Crosshair x Reader set to Better Love by the Struts; and a really tragic Obi-Wan x Reader set to Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift). Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try writing them!

I’m not gonna say Azula or Jet because they’re too obvious & both have their own niche fandoms anyway 😂 how about Kiyi? I hate the comics they don’t exist to me but Kiyi exists no other parts of the comics only Ursa having a new child & starting fresh away from Ozai but like, the version of it in my head where it’s well written & the impact of this on Zuko & Azula is explored. As a concept for a character Kiyi is so good & has so much potential & I’ve written her so much she’s beloved to me now ❤️ I just gatekeep her from canon it’s ok.

C/D, I got kinda tired after a while on the different 'soulmate AUs,' mainly because I'm hella aro so romances that just go off of 'hey so look, we're soulmates!' is less compelling for me than 'we need to work together because we both want this thing to work out.' That being said if someone goes into interesting detail on their take on the AU, then I'm sold.

oh, you're in for the nostalgia anon. so!

treasure planet - absolute favorite ever since i can remember because. i mean. it's a masterpiece??? still remember the ost song's lyrics in three different languages, as it's that good and i was that obsessed.

ice age - the first one. i found it fun as a kid, and it aged so well, watching it now made me both cry and realize found family really is thee trope for me. it hits hard.

brother bear - i'm a sucker for the songs, the synopsis, the characters, everything. i need to rewatch it to get my heart wrecked and warmed again asap. only the first one tho, never liked the sequel.

the emperor's new grooves - hilarious and vibrant and overall an absolute legend, to me. i really could rewatch it anytime, it heals and cheers up both me and my inner child.

shrek - i was going put another movie originally, but this is not a movie. this is a masterpiece, and i love it to death! personal faves are shrek 1 and 2. i didn't realize when i was little but it was and still is the inner beauty message that shook me hard.

KinnPorsche Episode 14 Review-I found it all somewhat interesting and then VegasPete happened and I realized the rest of it didn't matter

The title says it all

Okay, let’s do this.

I found it strange that Vegas promised Porsche that he’d keep Pete safe, but didn’t try to get Pete out of the way before the extremely dangerous gun fight. Pete very easily could have died, and I find it confusing that Vegas didn’t try to protect him more, given his love for Pete.

I wish Porsche’s memory issue had been explored and explained a little more. Admittedly I don’t know how likely it is that discovering that your memories of a traumatic event were completely wrong could cause Porsche’s symptoms, though, so 🤷‍♀️

I love the way Kim comforted Tankhun after they were lied to about Korn dying.

I want to feel annoyed about Kinn grabbing Porsche’s dick during the gun battle, but the problem is that it’s completely in character. I absolutely believe that Kinn is so horny for Porsche that regardless of what’s going on around him Kinn will still feel the need to do something sexual with Porsche. Also I kind of feel like Kinn thinks that he might die so he might as well squeeze his boyfriend’s dick one last time.

Vegas’s feelings about Porsche are so all over the place. Like he sincerely wants to help him and then wants to cruelly kill him to torture Kinn. But I don’t think Vegas is particularly well adjusted or emotionally stable, so I suppose it makes sense.

The whole thing with Kim fighting a battle while Porchay is completely oblivious with his headphones on is an overdone trope imo and was a little tedious to watch. But to be fair I in general find fight scenes a little tedious, so I’m not comfortable definitively saying that it was objectively boring. Then again all art is subjective so I’ll just say that I found it boring.

Honestly I find all fight scenes boring. It’s just a bunch of actors jumping around pretending to shoot each other. The only fight scenes I ever find mildly interesting are ones in fantasy or sci-fi. It’s why I rarely watch action movies, and am only watching this show for the romances and a few of the side characters I like(Arm, Pol, Tankhun). The power struggles at the meetings I do find somewhat interesting, because I like the tension. But fight scenes themselves just don’t do it for me.

However, they did feel appropriate in this episode, regardless of how interesting I personally found them. It was the climax of all these issues between the two families, and necessary, imo.

The plot with Namphuenge is still silly to me. And literally the ONLY reason for that is that Porsche came to work for Korn entirely coincidentally. I get that the show wanted there to be an exciting meet cute, but I feel like they could have done it in a way that made it so that Korn engineered their meeting. Not Kinn just randomly coming across Porsche and getting his help. So I feel like that cut the emotion from the scene. I just kept rolling my eyes at the absurdity the whole time.

If Korn really sent Thee to protect Porsche and Porchay then he clearly didn’t care that much as he didn’t replace him when he realized Thee was unreliable.

Porsche becoming leader of the minor family is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I can only assume that Korn has ulterior motives, because there’s no way he can genuinely think that Porsche would be a good leader. Porsche has literally no experience, he’s not remotely ruthless enough, and, I’m sorry, but I just don’t think he’s clever enough to be an effective leader. He’s lovable, he’s kind, but he’s not smart enough to do that.

And perhaps that’s Korn’s whole plan. Porsche will be entirely reliant on Kinn, and, if they break up, Porsche won’t be able to challenge him. If he was able to beat Kinn, I think it’s likely that it’d be pure happenstance.

What I DO find less believable is that Porsche would accept Korn’s offer. He didn’t really want to be a part of that life in the first place. His one goal all along has been to protect Porchay. Becoming leader of the minor family puts Porchay in even more danger. I just can’t buy that Porsche wants power so much that he’s willing to do that.

I don’t really care enough about Porchay and Kim to comment on their scenes this episode, apologies to those who are fans of them. I just feel like Kim has been too erratic in his behavior towards Porchay for me to feel any investment in their relationship. If I was Porchay I would drop him and look for someone who would treat me better. But Porchay is young, and spent a long time looking at Kim with hero worship. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Kim was able to win him back.

I suppose the final boat scene was cute enough, the problem is that I don’t really care about Kinn and Porsche all that much anymore, and spent the whole time hoping that the scene would end so I could get more VegasPete.

Which brings me to my favorite parts of the episode.

My love.

My conflicted, conflicted love for them.

Everything about their relationship flies in the face of all that I know is good and healthy and consensual. But it hits me right where I’m the most vulnerable emotionally. They’re deeply, violently kinky, and that just does it for me, and no amount of trying to talk myself out of loving the two of them together has worked.

So I’m just gonna do what Pete did, and give into that love, and try desperately to not feel guilty about it.

Now that we’ve established my conflicted feelings, let’s talk about them.

I adored that Vegas got so soft when he saw Pete. That he couldn’t remotely bring himself to hurt Pete. Even when Vegas pinned Pete down, he didn’t do it violently. And he let Pete hit him repeatedly. I don’t believe for a second that Vegas couldn’t have fought him off if he wanted to. He let Pete express his rage. Perhaps one could interpret that as Vegas being submissive, but I more think it’s that Vegas was willing to do anything to get Pete back. And I don’t think Pete was being dominant. I think Pete was fighting the part of himself that had fallen for Vegas, that needed Vegas. He was trying to prove to himself that he was strong enough to not love Vegas.

But he failed. And I believe that was demonstrated later in the episode, when he left the main family behind, and ran after Vegas, calling himself Vegas’s pet, and Vegas his owner. He allowed himself to be entirely vulnerable, and saying he was hungry was his way of begging Vegas to take care of him. He gave in completely, and it was beautiful to see. I had tears in my eyes watching it. The way Pete screamed and wept when Vegas was shot was fucking heartbreaking.

Sidenote, no fucking way Vegas survives that many shots in the abdomen with the medical technology we have today. Even if he was brought to a doctor right that second, there isn’t a chance in hell he’d survive that.

The way they kissed and snuggled at the end was adorable. If they aren’t the focus of season 2 it’ll be a fucking crime.

It’s hard to judge this episode, tbh, because the rest of it pales in comparison to the VegasPete bits, at least for me. I’ll try to separate the two once again.

The VegasPete segments get a 10/10

The rest gets a 6/10

So I started reading Manhwas after Kdramas, and I wanted to make a list as well.

I absolutely love Isekai themed Manhwas - specially historical, time travel and villainess themed. Most of them are based on a web novel but I could not find the novels per se so I read them as Manhwa at Manganelo Site

So here goes the list, I will input few at a time as I am rereading them again.

Inso's Law - Ongoing (Chapters: 81)

What made me read it: I found the earphone scene in Instagram and I instantly fell in love with Chunyoung. I mean I have this weakness with Black Haired characters. When I read the plot, I knew my tween heart will absolutely love this. The Main Character (Dan-I) woke up to a romance novel/parallel world where in she was friends with these very popular kids (I still can't believe they were 14 at the start). She did not want to be center of attention or to have any relations with the Female Lead and her reverse harem, but come on no one can resist those guys and their pretty faces and weird colored hair. The storyline may be a bit overused but my teenage self is very happy. 10/10

Is it visually pretty: YES. Everyone is pretty. This manhwa is also memeworthy. May not be as aesthetically pleasing as WMMAP but still 10/10

How much do I love the characters: I love Dan-I's internal monologue but hate how she sees herself as just the minor character, everyone adores her! Yeoryoung is the best friend you'll absolutely adore. Ju-In is adorbs. Chunyoung is LOVE. I love Jiho and Eunhyung too but Chunyoung is my ML. Ruda and Yeodan though *swoon* Other side characters are awesome too, but too much characters makes me forget a lot of em. Haha 10/10

Favorite part of the story: I LOVE their friendship so eveytime they show how much Dan-I is important too, all those text messages (especially Ju-In's HAHAHAHA text), Chunyoung is my fave so everytime he is in it I mean damn him and his beautiful hair, enchanting eyes and that smile *faints*, everytime Dan-I state one of every web novel laws, everytime Dan-I breaks the fourth wall and say how bullshit the story is hahahaha

Am I going to reread it again: Yes will do again and again

How do I describe thee: This was my first Manhwa! I'm a sucker for high school setting kind of stories. I really like it, makes me nostalgic of times I spent reading stories back in high school. I admit I was one of those teenagers who fell for the trope of being normal then every guy suddenly likes you *reverse harem for the win* but seriously this manhwa is one of my personal fave for being close to my tween heart. I really thought Dan-I was on a parallel world rather than a web novel as she did not got isekai'd to another person, she's still herself and it's still her family - it was like fanfiction of her own life. I like all characters eventhough, yes it's bullshit to have those kinds of friends (come on! A chaebol, a model in one group of friends in a normal highschool?) It's typical, it' cliche I know but their friendship is really #goals. When I first read this I was really cheering on Chunyoung to be ML, but when I read spoilers that Jiho will be the ML I thought whaaaat I shipped Jiho with Yeoryeoung. Then when I reread it I did saw how subtle his love was and it's really cute. I was really focused on Chunyoung since he has a lot of screen time showing off his affections but Jiho did too on the littlest of things you will see. Well, I'll wait for his time to shine. I just hope Dan-I finally notice them. And I want to know how she will be explaining to them her situation and how everything will be resolved - will she be going back to reality? *that's gonna suck* Also can I have Yeodan instead? Thanks. 10/10

Who Made Me A Princess - Ongoing (Chapters: 81)

What made me read it: I keep seeing screenshots of Athy's various expressions on the comments in manhwas so I searched for it. The plot is interesting, and as mentioned I absolutely love Isekai theme. But this is not romance (mostly), the story focuses on the dynamics of a father and daughter relationship. The main character was reborn as a character on a novel she was reading, Athanasia - the princess who was executed by her father. Knowing what will happen to her when she turns 18, she plans on saving herself. She changes the course of the story in order to survive. 10/10

Is it visually pretty: YES. JESUS CHRIST HAVE YOU SEEN DADDY CLAUDE. INSANE VISUALS. I mean the way the artist drew everything is pleasing to my eye. BUT ALL CHARACTERS ARE HOT. 100/10

How much do I love the characters: ONE MUST PROTECT ATHY FOREVER. Daddy Claude breaks my heart. LILY AND FELIX ARE THE CAPTAINS OF MY SHIP. Lucas is love. Can't help falling in love with Ijekiel/Ezekiel. I adore Jennette. DIANA AND LP'S ATHANASIA ARE DEAD BUT THEY DESERVE BETTER. Anastacius you evil motherfucker, I like you too. 100/10

Favorite part of the story: Every Athy expression. Tea time with Daddy Claude and Felix. When Lily is overprotective. Athy's debutante ball. All the boat scenes are gold. Everytime Claude shows how much he adores Athy even when he's supposed to hate her. When he picks her up and when he shows emotions. When Claude and Felix bickers. When Lucas teases Athy. Best boi Ijekiel/Ezekiel when he shows how much he likes Athy. Adorable Jennette and how she yearns for family.

Am I going to reread it again: Yes and No. Probably up to Chapter 45, I don't think my heart can take after that. Maybe when the manhwa is finished.

How do I describe thee: I AM EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTED. When I first read this I stopped at Chapter 38,  I read another Manhwa and actually forgot about it but decided to reread again after. I thought this will be a funny, heartwarming story of how a daughter earns her father's love. OH BOY GET READY FOR FEELINGS. I love Athy so much, she just wanted to survive the story, but she was loved, she was finally happy. Claude was like fuck feelings but can't help but adore Athy. I love their relationship so much. It physically pained me after Claude loses his memory - BRING BACK THE FUNNY CHAPTERS. I cannot read that scene in Claude's birthday ever again without bawling. I like Jennette, I really do, but I hate how everytime Claude has headaches (especially when with Athy) he calls for Jennette. It hurts me the way it hurts Athy like I was the one being betrayed. I hate how what's happened to LP Athanasia might still happen ro present Athanasia and it will def break me. I hate Anastacius for being an evil bastard that he is but I hope his growing love for Jennette will be his redemption. This was the first time I did not care for the romance or love triangles (Lucas and Ezekiel/Ijekiel are still precious bbys). Still 1000/10 will recommend even if it's not yet finished. I just want everyone to have a happy ending. Also for my LilyxFelix ship to sail. Thanks. If you have spoilers, gimme.

The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up At The Duke's Mansion - Ongoing (Chapters: 133)

What made me read it: It was on one of the recommended list and it caught my eye due to the title like pfft how very specific. It's Isekai so I know I'll love it. The Main Character got pushed (literally) into a novel wherein she got the role of Raeliana - a minor character whose death is the catalyst for the story to start. And of course our MC will not follow through the storyline and make her own destiny and survive. She ended up asking for the duke's (Noah, my love) help and became his fiancee, thus starting a butterfly effect for this manhwa's awesome story and twists. 100/10

Is it visually pretty: Definitely, everyone is absolutely pretty and the art is great. Not as insane as WMMAP but I got a lot of meme material. 10/10

How much do I love the characters: Raeliana is def one of top female lead for me, she's bad ass and not as dense as others. Noah, my love, is perfect. Even his brother that I could not remember his name because it's hard to spell. Naomi though is hilarious. Raeliana's family especially her mother. JUSTIN. GRANDPAAAA. SIR ADAM - NUFF SAID. No to Beabitch though but that says something for being villain. 100/10

Favorite part of the story: Chapter 130 hehehehe. Everytime Raeliana is BAMF who saves herself, everytime Noah flirts with her, Sir Adam and his aloofness and chibi self, the emperor's 40% playing pranks, Naomi and the emperor's bickering - which by the way ship it, when Noah confessed, when Raeliana confessed my heart could not take it, ALL THE TWISTS

Am I going to reread it again: YESSSS 100%

How do I describe thee: One of the God-Tier level Manhwa, I read because of Isekai I stayed because of the twist of that Isekai which is freaking mindblowing. Raeliana sets the standard for Female Leads, damn girl needs no man to save her shit. I LOVE HER. I LOVE THIS MANHWA SO MUCH. Noah is just perfect for her like it was really *winks* destined for them to be together. I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING. I love everyone, except that bitch. Also this was a first for me to have the MC admitting they were isekai'd to a novel and realizing her feelings and his feelings and accepting it and I just asdfghjkldfdfse 10000/10 READ THIS AND FALL IN LOVE WITH SIR ADAM WITH ME.

Living As The Tyrant's Older Sister - Ongoing (Chapters: 73)

What made me read it: The meme (you know the one - K.O), if you haven't noticed yet I am a collector of Isekai Manhwa. But this one def made me laugh at all chapters. We have your Main Character being thrown into a web novel (a novel her sister wrote btw) where she play as the Emperor's older sister - Alicia. She knows how the story goes (same old same old where she will eventually die) because she was her sister's consultant regarding the storyline and now regretting how she suggested to change the male lead. As always she devised a plan to stay as a minor character and survive but ended up sleeping with the main lead - Ares. 10/10

Is it visually pretty: Not a masterpiece but definitely meme material, all the screenshots I have stored are all memes from this manhwa 8/10

How much do I love the characters: Alicia is hilarious badmouthing bamf, very pretty very memeworthy. Ares could work on his personality a bit more but when they are together they're comical. Her brother is a typical tsundere and a fanboy. Lancelot is your typical nice guy. THAT BUTLER THOUGH BEST WINGMAN. 9/10

Favorite part of the story: Every meme hahahaha just read it this manhwa is the embodiment of a meme

Am I going to reread it again: Yes whenever I need a laugh ahhahaha

How do I describe thee: I AM WHEEZING. This truly is a comedic manhwa. You can't take it seriously because of the way it was drawn. If you really want a laugh this one's perfect. At times it is cringy when it exag a bit of their reactions but still 100% you will laugh. Not perfect but story is good, I like how it's still given a thought. But read it for the memes you won't regret it. 9/10

Survive as the Hero's Wife - Ongoing (Chapters: 79)

What made me read it: It's on the recommended list and someone mentioned that the art is *immaculate* and it is. IT REALLY IS. Well here comes another Isekai manhwa where the MC is pulled inside a novel where her character will be killed. But this time she was a minor villain character and the Male Lead's wife! 10/10 who are we kidding, I love em all.

Is it visually pretty: this manhwa is a work of art, it is *chefs kiss* visual explosion. Everyone is insanely hot, even the villains. The background, the characters - their hair and wardrobe is truly 1000000/10

How much do I love the characters: I really did fell in love with Canaria and Cesar. Best soft couple. Their luscious hair though so pretty. Noah best boi. Best team of suspicious knights - Miller, Raya, Jax and Ethan are loves. Best friend Ricardo. Even best butler Oscar. 100/10

Favorite part of the story: The visual explosion. Chos. When Canaria is being supportive waifu and Cesar is being an innocent best boy, they are just very soft and loving and I love their scenes so much, that popularity vote in the consort's palace ahhahaha, Jax and his misunderstanding, Ethan everytime he eats (all the time), Cesar's blushing face, everytime we are introduced to a new character because we know they are going to be gorgeous as hell.

Am I going to reread it again: MOST DEF ITS VERY PLEASING TO THE EYE

How do I describe thee: BEAUTIFUL. GORGEOUS. ENCHANTING. Boy, the visual is absolute masterpiece, Canaria's hair alone (love all her hairstyles) and her clothes, I want all of em. Cesar is the embodiment of a perfect male lead - soft boi. Best boi. Pretty boi. I love how he loves Canaria and how they truly support each other since being married at freaking 12 years old. This type of love please.  1000/10 Also, I am a lot curious about that Oscar,I think he is related to the emperor and the lady ghost in Noah's story - a lovechild? *gasps*. Also-Also if you will be reading this at Manganelo, translation at Chapter 76+ is a bit off but still grateful for the translators for what they give

phoebe/coop bc like hear me out man they’re like the embodiment of love. we’ve been hit over the head so many time how they’re the embodiment of love and like salvation and rebirth and renewal like!! like part of me wishes that we had introduced coop in s5 and given him more skin in the game but also if they fucked up this relationship i would have been so bummed bc it really is. it’s love!! like it is the embodiment of falling in love like phoebe is stone cold right and she’s kind of starting to accept that maybe she just doesn’t get it you know. maybe that’s it. she gets her column and she gets to help people find love and see like piper and leo at peak domesticity and like engage in love, but like, remotely.because it’s not for her. and then here comes this cupid who’s like no i’m gonna find you love which is a cute gesture but like she genuinely doesn’t believe she’s made for love she genuinely doesn’t believe she gets to have love but then you know like. like her eyes get reopened to the world around her yes she engaged with love remotely but she had become so far removed from it that it lost the feeling. she saw it but she saw the individual brushstrokes and then here comes coop and he helps her take a step back and see the painting. and like!!! it’s beautiful. and then of course there’s the added trope of like. falling in love with coop he’s supposed to help you find love and now you know what the hell you’re trying but like. you’re in love with him. but you can’t be but you are. like!! and then on coop’s side you know he’s a cupid he’s been doing this for centuries and his love for humanity is obvious and his love for love is obvious but this is new. and he doesn’t know what it is!! like he knows love obviously but he’s never like you know fallen in love. and he can’t recognize it because he thinks it’s impossible but the next think you know he’s got all those lovesick symptoms he sees in the couples he puts together and oh my god he’s in love with phoebe. and then of course both believe the other won’t reciprocate bc it’s out of the realm of possibility. but then the other does reciprocate!! they also just like. i mean all three couple do but like phoebe and coop maybe the most. seem like the type of people who just kinda get lost in watching their partner work. like when phoebe is having trouble with a letter for her column she like paces and mutters the letter out loud to herself like she’s the one asking it and like bareface in pajamas like a crazy person is just repeating the same thing over and over again and coop’s just fucking in love with her like look at her!! and vice versa i don’t think coop has really spent that much time being human i think he takes absolute delight in small things phoebe has just forgotten about but to see coop’s face light up like at so flea market or something finding something that was undeniably crafted with love like he can feel it imbued in the item and his face just lights up and he wants to tell everyone how like it’s love!! love!! it’s all around us it’s in here can’t you feel it and phoebe just looks at him and remembers how pure love itself is and just how happy she is that you know. this is her life. and she gets to fall asleep and wake up next to this man like hello?? hello??!???! and then i’m gonna go 

paige/henry bc like i feel like they’re criminally underrated again bc we spedrun what should have been a slowburn but they gave me the legos and i will built the death star like. like these are two people who struggle with family and identity so much who have learned against their nature to lean into and grow with one another. like what we see of paige is a woman who loves her independence and loves her freedom and yesh has a complex relationship with family bc she was given up at birth but it didn’t matter because she found a loving family so who needs the ones who gave her up not her but she couldn’t help but wonder but she didn’t care she had her family. until she didn’t. until she was seventeen alone and scared and what are you supposed to do with that?? and let’s not even get started on the fact she only gains her new family through death as well. like. there’s so much there there are so many reasons to stay guarded and fearful and just overall pessimistic about the concept of family especially as something built to last. and then henry!!! who never knew his birth parents and on top of that never got a home like paige paige got a home she got a family who loved her hell she actually got two henry never had that henry always had nothing and like he kinda grew up in that shell said he didn’t want to leave when people started getting close he had to push them away bc he didn’t know who he was if he wasn’t alone and paige is like hey hi?? you wanna be alone so bad be alone but i actually fucking like you and i know you like me too so don’t just push me out because that’s what makes you feel "comfortable” when you know you’re miserable in your comfort. and she’s right but it’s still a hurdle for henry and it’s this push and pull of the tides where bit by bit they kind of have to learn that it’s lonely up on the pedestal of independence and it can actually be nice to be vulnerable with somebody yes it’s fucking terrifying to just like show yourself to someone honestly because like!! they can turn away what if they turn away but to experience the rewards of love we must first subject ourselves to the morifying ordeal of being known. and it’s a painful process for both of them but the fruits of those labors man it’s well fucking worth it and it’s a relationship especially on henry’s side that is plagued with external insecurities other people telling him that he is not cut from the right cloth to be with paige but like. it’s like he’s already torn down his walls to be with her and she’s done the same and he realizes he loves her like He Loves Her like. like!! who gives a fuck what anyone else says he loves paige. and then paige reciprocates omg!!! haha fuck yeah. and then like i also think henry’s just super fuckin corny levels of domestic like makes french toast every sunday and fingerpaints with his kids and is in the dad’s club at the elementary school and just does all the things that he fuckin prayed for as a child  just a constant stable feeling of home of love and like. like!!!! i’m gonna bite someone like. paige&henry man.

piper/leo though as previously established is like Thee charmed couple you know they are there all eight seasons they get points for that but obviously from reading my first two ones i kinda just fill in a lot of gaps there which i am able to do bc each couple probably checks in at 150min of screentime total. piper and leo don’t get that so like i don’t get to do that. and like. the origins of them i just don’t quite get you know which was really just cause it was such a new show and this was a new lil relationship they weren’t sure what they were gonna do with it and then again like issues with canon and the whole whitelighter thing but what i would have loved to see more in the early stages is just like why. like obviously they both found the other cute but we never really got the Moments bc it was all so preferrial and then next thing you know leo’s dying in the attic and piper loves him like i would have loved the in between and a bit more of the internal monologue the jump then fall especially on leo’s part which is like canon’s fault but like. you know like why if he was a whitelighter and knew the rules blah blah blah and it was because the writers didn’t know but like. still you know. and then s2 was bogged down my dan and i just really didn’t care for it that much because like. idk i didn’t love a lot of leo’s vibes early s2 were he was trying to keep it strictly professional and just ended up coming across as weirdly bitter and possessive however i Loved him bonding with dan in pardon my past that was a nice touch. of course later seasons pleo really makes up for the lackluster of the early seasons bc they are just so domestic like they know each others strengths so well and leo loves piper’s cooking and they’re corny n cute and they have their little moment and i do mostly like their relationship therapy bits i like that that was incorporated bc like. it happens man it’s not something to keep taboo it happens. but i do feel like that shit was often resolved too quick and then the same shit dredged up ten minutes later like some one trick pony. i also love how ride or die they are points for that. leo’s like i killed an elder and piper’s like alright. they’re really in it through thick n thin n i respect that

O now that I’ve watched Raya twice and a months part to let it settle, here is my opinion. It’s a good movie! Not great, but good! I’’m not gonna do a full-on review here, I may do so in the future, but here’s some thoughts.

The Good

THE ANIMATION! Oh my God, this film is fantastic in the visuals department! The characters all look good (yes even Sisu, I REALLY don’t get the complains... and even then one meh character design doesn’t justify hating the whole thing), the settings all look amazing the water effects just look gorgeous, and the fight scenes? This may be the closest Disney gets to being a martial arts film, and they knocked it out of the park~! I love it~!!!

I love Raya! Most Disney heroines are very optimistic and hopeful. Raya, while not devoid of humor or light-heartedness, is more cynical and hardened than other heroines, even the non-Princess ones. It makes since considering she’s been betrayed, lost her father and home, and saw/keep seeing the worst in people first-hand. She has to learn to trust again and see the good in others, event he ones who betrayed her before. Her character arc is really well done and Kelly Marie Tran does a lovely job voicing her~! Plus she’s an utter badass warrior and that is always appreciated~!

Namaari is a pretty good antagonist. While she’s very much at fault for her actions that lead the world to disaster, she’s not evil. She cares about her people, is intelligent, and does regret her choices that lead to the current outcome. She’s scared, but remains committed to her course until she sees Sisu. Her arc isn’t as in focus as Raya, but I’m lad that we had an antagonist who isn’t pure evil (even fi I love my pure evil Disney villains) especially since it works better with the themes in the film. The final act where Raya and her companions leave their fates in her hands... damn, that was powerful.

The companions (Boun, Noi, Tong) are all pretty good. Very least likable and very much useful. Plus I’m a sucker for Found Family and they very much feel like one at the end. Tong and Noi are especially just adorable~! You can also sympathize with all of them who lost their families and struggled to survive all alone,but now they found a family that lasts even after everyone is un-petrified. Ah Found Family trope you never fail me~!

There’s no real villain in the film, or there’s no villain figure. The villain is a literal plague called The Druun. One created from human discord and turns people into Stone. Only the Dragon Gem an keep it back and when it’s shattered, it spreads over the world again. While it substitutes death, it doesn’t hold punches at all on how devastating this is. Children are left orphaned. Parents lost their children. nations are left in disarray. All of Raya’s companions have lost someone to

Admittedly the trust theme IS pretty heavy-handed in the film. But I can’t say that the message is unwarranted, especially in the current times. After seeing 2020 bring out the worst in people and me losing respect and admiration for so many and even further back during the #MeToo movement and such things, trust feels so much harder to give or receive. Even if heavy-handed, the message of trust, unity, and working to make a better world is still relevant. It’s not an easy thing to accomplish, but it’s done well enough for kids to understand and it’s hopefully something that resonates with those kids when they become adults. Heck I’m an adult, and I needed the reminder.

Like I said, the ending was VERY powerful. IDT we’ve had the heroine essentially sacrifice herself and dying to save the world. It was the perfect culmination of everything and it ended happily. Raya reuniting with her father and the nations at last reuniting to form Kumandra was beautiful.

The Not As Good

Sisu is... hit or miss. I liked her more on the second watchthrough and she does have good moments. Like describing the Druun and showing Raya the Dragons/telling her of how she and her siblings truly created the Dragon Gem. Plus her naive, trusting nature serves as a good contrast to Raya. Int he end they didn’t need her to restore the Gem, they needed her to teach them to trust again. But... most of her humor doesn’t work and comes off more as them tryin WAAAY too hard to replicate The Genie or Mushu. No offense to Awkwafina, she did her best, but I REALLY wish that they toned it down because it was more distracting than funny and really contrasted with the serious tone at times.

While seeing the different nations was cool, we really only spend time in a few of them. It’s a movie, thee’s only os much time that can be devoted and the glimpses we got were really cool. But I really wish that we had more to help the world. Also I will say that those accusing it of being an A:TLA ripoff... it’s only similarity is using Southeastern culture. That’s not a ripoff the same way that Coco wasn’t copying The Book fo Life because both were about Dia De Los Muertos. Still it doesn’t compare to A:TLA’s world-building.

The pacing can feel a little off. They have a LOT that they have to go through, and it shows. We do have SOME breathing room, but not a lot so it can feel like we’re rushing form point to point. I’ve seen worst but it does feel like we’re not being given time to take everything in.

Overall, if I was going to rank the film I’d give it a 7/10 and it would likely land in my Top 15 or 20 Disney films. It’s not the greatest due to pacing, missed opportunities, some me character decisions, and just not being as good as others. But this is still a really good film! The action and animation are amazing, the characters are likable and Raya is a fantastic heroine, the acting is good, the world is a good setting, and I loved seeing the culture. And yes the theme CAN veer into being a bit preachy, but it’s still extremely relevant especially now. I very much recommend it to any animation fans, Disney fans, and fans of badass women like me XD I hope that Encanto is this good~!
