honestly the crime life is a non-issue for her, considering she’d been with the Seraph in the first place only because she was part of a gang and was going around robbing people and blowing shit up in Divinity’s Reach as a teen, so she was put on parole and coming of age it was either join the Seraph or go to jail - joining the Seraph at least meant she could still tinker with machinery. So while she had no choice in the matter, her integration in the Aetherblades was pretty smooth, all things considered. She may have thrown hands with one of the pirates that took her rifle the moment she was uncuffed

As for her considering other options, she did briefly nope out upon arriving on Cantha, both because coming face to face with Aurene and the Commander in the Mists kind of scared her shitless, and then the mutiny on top of everything else was all a bit much (she didn't agree with Ankka for the record), so she hid out in a rented apartment and continue to tinker and build her mech. She was eventually brought back into the fold by Milica and Niko (both @/kornyo’s characters 🫰) who led the remaining Aetherblades after Mai, and they may or may not had actually helped with the final fight alongside Ivan

🖊 Stephanie has a... complicated relationship with mesmers, and their portals especially. She wouldn't admit it but it does stem from her relationship with her mother (it's not good) and the fact she associates them with her. Wouldn't be uncommon for her to end up being teleported outside their home and they'd fight so she just generally hates the feeling of teleporation and makes her nauseous - though she's getting better at handling it! If not out of necessity, when you're running with street gangs and pirates a hasty escape is often needed, then by exposure therapy ie her fellow crewmate Niko constantly pranking her by placing portals under her feet (but it's fine he didn't know, he apologized)

🖊 you get an extra Steph fact, as a treat. She actually didn’t join the Aetherblades by choice, she’d been working with the Seraph when Scarlet attacked Divinity’s Reach, tasked with maintenance of the automated defenses set around the Crown Pavilion for the Queen's Jubilee. When the Aetherblades ran into her, for whatever reason they took her hostage instead of killing her. She was for the most part left forgotten at the bottom of an airship all throughout Scarlet’s antics until the Aetherblades broke Mai Trin out and fled into the Mists, where they’d get stuck, leaving Steph no real choice but to join them

🖊 Tiernac like every good sylvari had a pretty rough time during HoT, he’d joined a mercenary company to cushion his savings after he ran away from the Aetherblades, but where they’d initially been tasked with simply cleaning up Tangle Root and Fort Vandal of the various Mordrem and vines, he and the company were roped into the assault against Mordremoth because the Pact needed the extra hands. Airships fell yada yada and Tiernac having been an ex Courtier and technically an outsider to the mercenary company, didn’t last very long against Mordremoth’s will. That said he was only placed in a blighting pod shortly before Mordremoth fell so he didn’t undergo any severe physical alterations, his transformation being cut short by his pod falling and cracking open at the bottom of Verdant Brink. As disoriented as he was he did make it out alive and somewhere down the line he’d be hired by Jessamy

Finally have a free momence, I was curious what your Starfall is generally about, and how it compares to your GW2 alt universe! And any character differences as well, since you mentioned a few different alts (sorry if you’ve explained this in a post before !)

omg,,,, you want to know about Starfall? Buckle in!! It's gonna be long. I've never got the chance to explain so thank you!! Starfall is an original setting @cheddargoblin and I created, the story's premise is: "Long ago a star fell, and changed the world forever both physically and magically and even in it's current day societies across the world struggle to re-find their place in a world grown more wild and hostile around them."

Medieval-ish fantasy with themes of freedom, change, healing and bonds, a good story about found family and overcoming entirely different kinds of bias and classism.

Gw2 has some shared themes and the setting isn't too far off ! Starfall is darker,cruel though. One big difference tho is Starfall happens mainly in snowy regions! Now onto the characters!

I'll speak about my main two, since the rest are still a big WIP.

In Starfall Crow is an ex-mage hunter who escaped the Guild ( main place where hunters are trained and also big anti mage propaganda between all the things, even if they are mages themselves). In escaping he's constantly hunted, due to being an important figure and...a big weapon that was trained specifically for "purposes" by his mentor. The black arms are tattoos ! Cruel symbol of how many mages you captured/killed and so on. Has to learn to fight his own life of bias and brainwashing to live "outside". He's like a caged dog who finally tasted freedom and will fight for it to death if needed. Closed off with MANY issues, they haven't lost a small spark of naivety and hope though. Big part of the character is the revelation they're a fae ! No, they didn't know it. It's complicated. Hehe's also a "cursed" fae, courtesy of the mentor again. Describing the cursed fae as magical beings who have to survive on blood and magic, since they're made of magic. Without feeding they end being feral beasts who won't ever go back to being sane. They go through addiction and withdrawl usually. He's a fighter and adapts easily, someone give him a break please. He's the struggler but keeps going , a love for freedom keeps him going. Crow in Gw2 is a saltspray who fled from the Jade Wind, searching for a cure or something to help back home. After centuries of disguises he fell into the end of the Inquest and got basically " cursed". Vampirism about blood and magic, for a being like a lesser dragon it's...not fun i'd presume. Got saved by Dragora, lived and learned under Drago's wing and then joined the commander's gang in s2. Revealed their true identity much later during EoD<<< caused some drama. They're Starfall's Crow without the harsh environment they lived in, in gw2 he got a taste of it but not enough to compromise his whole life. Marked by it but doesn't let it control them. He's an exploration of who Crow would have been if he escaped sooner from the Guild.

So both keep that duality of self, same coin, just a little to the side in gw2. Neither of them are too different. Fun story about Cardamomo, he comes from gw2 actually! He's my commander and that's part of his core personality. Never make me think of jokes with characters and pairings because 90% of times they end up happening <<< Cromo happened this way. In Gw2 he's the sylvari commander, a naive and full of wonders sylvari who learnt fast war changes you. Forever.

Cute guy who sees the horrors and comes back angry, frustrated and not much hope and will to fight again, but that's all he knows how to do after all. That's why Gyala and part of Soto hit hard. They're tired, they don't know how to rest. Big trust issues? Or more about they can't let be seen weak and vulnereable. The important thing to know about Momo is that he wasn't Cardamomo at first. He starts as Caoimhe until the Departing. He dies, he comes back. He comes back different. I love the mirror theme so much he IS a mirror. A broken one. Caoimhe died, Cardamomo came back with less memories, some gone forever and a personality made to withstand the trauma just to fight Balthazar. Oops, Caoimhe took too much time to recover and now this commander has two pilots. They're the same guy still! Momo isn't a new different identity, he's more of...some aspects put together to give time to heal. Similar personalities to the point there's no much difference unless you know what to look for ( they have a slightly different behavior and manner of speech). It's like a fragment who learnt to be its own thing, while still following the main purpose of protector.

It's a toughie to describe I'll be honest, if I can finish that fanfic i'm writing maybe it helps understanding it (or i can simply ramble on another post <3) In Gw2 he's a dryad, beings born with a specific purpose ( in this case it's about balance). I'm still working on many details but he keeps the commmander "role" so to speak and absolutely gains the Caoimhe/Cardamomo duality again. Loss is part of his character in many ways too eheh. He's a bit more off putting and warms a bit slower than his gw2 alt though! Playing more on the fact this guy isn't human at all. I've been trying to keep both my ocs' cores for both settings with some modifications but more or less the alts end up being "what ifs" and explorations of a part of the main character that can't be explored easily in the main setting. They aren't as different as I make them sound probably.

Fun fact, dryads and fae are rivals, this didn't stop Cromo happening( one half didn't know, the other didn't care). The main alt i can explain is Dragonheart for Momo! Selkastra ( saltspray is just an appereance change and plays more on Crow being young but still... a dragon) Dragonheart is Momo's champion self? so to speak? That one transformation in EoD but what if we can access to it under circumstances and what if it follows the different aspects too? Otherwordly momo <3 Each aspect affects Momo differently and he acts as consequence too. Physically and mentally. If Aurene is the Prism Dragon, Cardamomo is the prism itself reflecting, each side something different. There's Fae Crow to explain too, but nothing too big changes apart from making him extremely ethereal and fey-like. Not to be mess with, fae are known to bend rules and twist them to their like. Even tho Starfall Fae are...a bit particular. I hope these are enough to answer your questions, which im so so happy u asked!! (it got so long he l p) I'm terrible at summaries but this made my whole day, thank you so much again !! <333

3 - ok so this is one of the things i find the funniest abt him. The title of the head of his house is expected to be passed from son to son, but, y'know, his parents never had one. So he took it upon himself to pretend to be a son so his family name wouldn't be tarnished. Then he realized he actually liked presenting as a man, faked his death and began boymoding full time. (Though, he himself (and me, lol) is not exactly sure what came first - the desire to be percieved as a man, or the desire to preserve his family's honor.)

9 - YAY YIPPE AN EXCUSE TO TALK ABT ATHAMIAN CONCEPTS OF GENDER!!!!! So, basically, the idea of gender in Athamian society is kinda weird. On one hand, everyone is equal under the sun and such. On the other, Watt/Vazd (the deity worshipped in Athame since time immemorial) is explicitly a goddess, and considered feminine, despite not being anthropomorphic (the fact that the prophet who founded her religion was a woman definitely contributes to this too). The feminine is considered closer to the sun, while the masculine is considered closer to earth (which is still divine, just less so, since it's material - and instead of being the source of all energy, it's the acceptor of said energy). Also, only women may be priests.

This, combined with some other things, results in a society that's not quite matriarchal, but women can and are expected to be in managerial or scholarly positions. The exception to this is the study of magic, which is considered "worldly" enough (unlike the Merlinist religion, which assumes magic to be a gift from the divine) to also be studied by men and has equal representation in both sexes.

Of course, Robert's family sorta breaks this - the Agency's founder was a man, and his house's internal traditions override the local ones. It definitely also helps that the local culture is becoming more and more globalized, what with R'yleh and other wacky places being just the planar equivalent of next door.

However, where this becomes a slight problem is his transness. Being trans is widely accepted in the Tri-City, but specifically in the culturally Wattist Athame it's a very, very spiritual thing. Trans women specifically, called [Athamian word for mountain, I am still working out the language xd] often become priests, and "growing towards the sun" (becoming more feminine, transitioning towards femininity) is a whole ordeal. Trans men (aka [Athamian word for root]) also are expected go through a similar process of rites, "growing into the earth", but theirs are more clandestine and more akin to spiritual cleansing and learning humility than the ridiculously glorious initiations of women. (Nonbinary people typically have to choose one or the other, but sometimes they choose neither or a combination. Still, you better consult a local priestess. Or several.)

Windward was, however, not very religious, or a fan of large elaborate spotlights. He's also not very humble, either, and would rather die than fast and stop smoking. So... he decided to go all the way in instead, so to speak.

11 - About his transness? Not very much. He reveals it only to the people he trusts the most, or threatens blackmail/assassination/etc. to those who learn it in other ways.

About his pansexuality? Literally everyone fucking knows lol. Definitely helps he's a bit of a casanova

"Hey, Ren, could you give me a hand in here?" Adam poked his head through the kitchen doorway.

"Sure." Ren slipped off his chair and followed Adam back into the kitchen, where a large pot was bubbling on the stove. "What do you need?"

Adam rifled through one of his cookbooks with a small frown. "I'm trying out a new recipe and there's a few things in here that I've never really used before. I wondered if you would know how to use them?"

"Oh." Ren bit down in one of his fingernails. "I'm... Not really much of a cook, actually."

"Oh." Adam pressed his lips together awkwardly for a moment. "Well, I guess we could learn together, then. If you want, of course."

"Okay." Ren peeked at the recipe around Adam's shoulder. "What's 'sumac'?"

"It's a spice. We don't have very much in here, I don't use it very often..." Adam reached into a cupboard and pulled out a small bottle filled with a fine red powder. "Here, just put a little bit of that into the broth."

It went on like that for a while, with Adam cutting up vegetables while Ren hunted down various spices and sprinkled them into the soup. It was fun, in a way. The repetitive actions were even a little calming.

Eventually, Adam turned off the stove and dipped a spoon into the broth. "All right, let's see how it turned out." He offered the spoon to Ren.

Ren tasted the soup and frowned. "It's um." He pressed his fingers over his lips. "A lot."

"What do you mean?" Adam tasted the soup himself. His eyes widened and he coughed, slamming his fist over his mouth as he choked slightly. "OH." He said. "I think we went a little overboard with the seasoning."

Ren bit his lower lip and looked down at the floor. "Sorry..."

"No, no, no, it's fine!" Adam exclaimed. "We can probably just water it down a little bit, don't worry about it. It's not your fault, either- I didn't know how strong these spices were, sorry-"

"You guys need a taste tester?" Edward materialized between them with a bright-eyed grin.

"Uh." Said Adam. "Sure. It's a little spicy though..."

"Eh, I can handle it." Edward made a grabby-hand motion for the spoon. Adam handed it to him. Edward stuck the entire spoon in his mouth without trepidation.

Immediately he choked and doubled over, but straightened up almost an instant after that with a forced smile that made it look like his teeth were about to fall out.

"It's delicious." Edward declared forcefully. "Great job Ren, Adam. I love it."

"Edward, you don't need to lie to make us feel better-" Ren began.

"Who said I was lying?" Edward picked up a bowl from the counter and dumped several large spoonfuls of soup into it. "A little spice never hurt anybody, did it? Come on, let's eat."

And with that, he backed out of the kitchen. Adam and Ren exchanged an amused glance before following him.

Within the box are two items: A very cool looking dark purple, sleeveless jacket, with a yellow inner coloring. The second item is... her very own butterfly knife, also purple and golden yellow! "Should be good to go for being an asskicker in the new year."

* "Huh? You're giving ME a present?"

* Despite the closeness Susie feels to the older monster, it's still a shock when he places the box in her hands. After all, her own blood relatives never bother to get her anything for Christmas, never mind her birthday a few weeks before it. Sure, Ellis doesn't know about the latter, but the idea that he thought to get her something at all more than makes up for both days tending to be nothing more than reminders of what a bad spot she's in.

* Looking down at the nicely wrapped box, it's hard for her not to feel a little hesitant about tearing into it like she wants to. Then again, Susie thinks, if Ellis cares enough to give her a gift in the first place, he won't care if she tears up the packaging a little to get at it.

* So tear at it she does, although she tries to be at least a little careful about it. She perks up instantly when she sees what's inside, immediately slipping on the jacket and grabbing the knife to inspect it closer. She has no idea where he got the stuff, and she doesn't care, either.

* "Dude, this is GREAT! Thanks, Ellis!"

* She pauses, looking a bit bashful as she turns her gaze away from him and rubs at the back of her neck.

* "Uh... Yeah. Merry Christmas."

* Maybe the holiday isn't so bad. At least, her now wagging tail seems to make her think so.
