The Hair Chronicles: Form Beauty Pt. II

I used this opportunity to try the minis I didn’t get to try the first time (read that review here), which included the items recommended by their questionnaire. When it was time to take down my protective style, it was the perfect time to try them out. Here’s what I got this time around:

CLEANSE Gentle Shampoo (recommended via questionnaire results)

$22 for 8 fl oz

Best for hair that requires regular washing regardless of frequency in preparation for conditioning (per the website).

HYDRATE Moisturizing Conditioner (recommended via questionnaire results)

Best for hair that’s not chemically processed, color-treated or heat-styled and in need of moisture and slip (per the website).

REVIVE Restorative Conditioner

POLISH Moisture-Sealing Pomade

$29 for 4 fl oz 

Best for hair that needs a little extra support in humid or extremely dry climates (per the website).

From the site: Flourish in the face of humidity. Since weather always impacts hair, you may need some backup in certain climates to maintain your style. Polish uses a blend of oils to lock in moisture, fight frizz and provide a smooth look and soft feel.

After I took my protective style out, I was able to shampoo using the Cleanse (I wanted to use the Clarify, but I didn’t have enough in the sample bottle to do my entire head). I didn’t find the shampoo very moisturizing, but it didn’t leave my hair feeling stripped, either. 

I then used the Revive conditioner because it advertises that it’s best for heat-treated hair. My curl pattern has stretched a bit thanks to 6 months of blow-out styling, and I was concerned about damage. The Revive conditioner detangles well, and has a strong, fresh/herbal scent that lingers well after you rinse it out (I left it in for about 15 minutes). The website says it prevents 98% of breakage after a single use, so I’m going to check back after a few more uses.

I haven’t used the Hydrate conditioner yet, but it smells exactly like the Revive, so at least I know that much. Might not use it for a while since I’m about to get another protective style soon.

After rinsing out the Revive, I used my Oyin Handmade Hair Dew as a leave-in, then followed up with the Define cream (an already-established favorite) and used the Polish as a sealant. The Polish does a great job at definition, but it felt dry on my ends, which I don’t need, so I’ll just rely on my Original Moxie Hair Bling for sealing. The Polishis advertised for summer styling because of the hot air and humidity protection,  so I’ll put it away until then and see if it works differently. 

Anyway, here’s my hair on a 2nd-day twist-out, no added product:

So, overall, I still like the Define cream and will definitely purchase the full-size bottle, budget permitting. I’m also a fan of the Revive Conditioner - very moisturizing. An update review is definitely going to be necessary.

I don't have time to waste when it comes to getting ready.
