What if you gave yourself permission to allow yourself to be seen? What if you allowed the world to see all of you? What if you let your guard down so that you could be exposed, vulnerable in your own truth? What if you looked at yourself as a whole instead of a person with broken parts? What if you became unapologetic about being who you are? What if today is the day you whispered to your body and soul and said, “today I want to commit to writing OUR greatest love story?” #womaninprogress #dailydoseofjo ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today I woke up as the sun slowly crept into the room at @thelinehotel and as the warmth began to gently kiss my bare skin I couldn’t help but feel as if I was being covered with love and gratitude. These past few days in LA has filled my heart with so much purpose. The time spent talking to @justdimpleit about love, redefining how we see love, and my thoughts about how I want to expand my brand to talk about love, relationships, and sex health; to all the laughter shared with my management team @parkermanagement @lindsaynead; to all the friends I’ve hugged this trip; and my time speaking at @blogher has left me extremely FULL of 🖤! I start my courses for my @jrni_co life coaching certification and I’m so excited 😆. I think about the way in which I’ve began to approach life. I want to be fully engulfed in it and in love with what it has in store for, all the good and hard learning experiences ahead. This is the mindset I want to empower my clients and you to feel. words I gently whispered to myself. #notetoself ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we choose courage over perfection we put ourselves in the face of vulnerability. Facing all our fears in order for the chance to be seen, heard, and understood. Vulnerability is the essence of all meaningful relationships. It's the art of being uncalculated, the willingness to look foolish, the courage to say: THIS IS ME, and I'm going to show you my flaws with the hope that you may embrace me for all that I am but, more important, all that I am not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Vulnerability is saying I choose courage over perfection and choose to fail and fall time and time again just so that I can learn about the person I am becoming. There’s also something very liberating about vulnerability. It’s honest, raw, and there’s no pretending that things need to be perfect. When you fuck up, you can tell yourself “well that sucks…” pick yourself up, and try again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This year I embraced this idea that I am a #womaninprogress who is constantly evolving, growing, and learning. It was worth the 3 month wait. Officially the bougiest breakfast nook set up I’ve seen. 〰️ I know I’ve sounded like a broken record lately, but I’m forever grateful for @mackenziecollierinteriors for designing #highwoodhaus. Before moving in we met wit Mackenzie over the phone, talked about the design goals we had for our #eichler, and she went all out and designed the #midcenturyhome of our dreams. Without her team and their Room Service package I’d probably be still stuck on Pinterest overwhelmed by all the inspiration. She measured out the space, created the concepts for each room, gave us design resources, and a shopping list to go off of to furnish and decorate our space. So helpful especially when you’re moving into a blank space of possibility. Every design idea she’s had so far has been absolutely 💯 for our home. Not to mention the convenience of having someone else design the space, source all the furniture, and provide you a detailed list complete with clickable links to purchase every piece (all the way down to linens) gives me time to sit back and live life in between all the furniture delivery and set up. Truthfully, that to me is priceless. As a health & lifestyle coach, one of the things I help my clients do is integrate wellness into their everyday lives. One of the biggest concerns most of my clients have is setting up a daily routine that allows them to feel like they are making the most out of their busy day and incorporates a workout. I once heard that “vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change” 🙏🏾 @brenebrown. When I first heard this I felt it right in the gut. We all our creators in our own world. And while we might not all be labeled writers, photographers, creatives, or artists we are all creating a life we want to lead and that takes vulnerability and courage to step into the unknown and to be seen. - To be honest, I’m in a very interesting place. I feel sort of lost and found all at the same time. I know I’m in a phase of innovation, change, and evolution. I find myself tongue tied at what to call myself, but I’ve also come to terms that I hate labels. I don’t want to be labeled. I don’t want to be one thing. I broke up with short term fitness goals and got into a long term relationship with my body and myself. And you wanna know what I learned? That no matter what my size is, my weight, my BF% I am loved and worthy of love and belonging. #bodydiversity - At one point in my life I was 34% BF and in a little over a year I got down to 14% just before I stepped on stage for my first competition. (swipe to see more) That year was crazy and it was a year I tested my myself physically and mentally. I was so focused on fitness and mastering the tools I needed to fight my depression (healthy eating and exercising). These days I’m more focused on loving my whole self as a whole rather than focusing on improving my physical self. Yes, fitness took a back burner, but my well-being was always first. I was just too high off endorphins at the time to realize that my wellness was more than just what I ate and how I exercised. ✨🌙 Fitness is the physical part: nutrition, strength, performance, body composition. Where as wellness is all encompassing mind, body, soul, and all the other parts in our life that make us live a better life. 🌙✨ Society might look at me and say “you need to tighten up, lose more weight, and do more with your workouts”. But that’s a societal value. ✨I value my body that has birthed two daughters, my mid section that has stretched to house two growing humans, and has shrunk to a size I’ve never seen in my life. But most importantly I value my most authentic self, a woman who is perfectly imperfect. I’m a woman who can be messy and beautiful at the same time.✨ - This week take a good look at your whole self and acknowledge the greatness that can’t be found in a dress size, body fat percentage, or number on the scale. Quick and easy Brunch pizza #recipe: naan bread, lemon ricotta spread, 🍳, cappola, and fresh arugula. — I love naan bread! It’s a staple in our house. It’s a great sidekick to curries, but we use it as an alternative to pizza dough. You can find naan at most grocery stores like @traderjoes @wholefoods and @safeway. — This morning I was craving something brunch-like but not super heavy and I wanted something fresh on the palette. Ingredients: 1 naan bread from #traderjoes 1 tbsp skim ricotta 2 slices of cappola or any left over charcuterie (this is totally optional, but makes it a little #bougie just the way I like it) Zest from half a lemon + juice 1 🥚 Handful of arugula Pepper to taste Red chili flakes — Directions: 1. Toast naan and cappola in the toaster or oven for about 5 minutes to heat up. 2. Mix ricotta, 🍋 zest, and lemon juice in a small bowl. 3. Fry the 🍳. 4. Spread ricotta over toasted naan. 5. Top with the egg, cappola, arugula. Sprinkle with pepper and red chili flakes.
