A starter story (be sure to swipe): This starter had been dormant since January. Day 1, I added 60 g water during a workshop just to soften it up. Day 2, I added equal parts flour and water. Day 3, I used it to make a batch of Sourdough Pizza Dough, which was grilled during another workshop or (just for fun) baked in a toaster oven. I've been giving away sourdough starter all month, and people have been making gorgeous loaves with it. But some are worried about what will happen if they stop using their starter for a while. So I'm starting a #forlornsourdough thread. On 12.20.18, I put a small amount of starter in the back of my fridge. Here's what it looks like today: dried out, with a little dark liquid (hooch) on the edges. No fuzzy mold, no pink or ornage streaking. If this was my primary starter, I'd bring it to room temperature, feed it, and use it. But instead I'm going to shove it back in the fridge and keep updating you on how it looks.
