I cannot remember for the life of me if I asked you this because my memory is that of a squirrel's, LOL. But how do you get down nearly the same style as the characters on the show (DBZ)? It's so uncannily similar, is there a technique or just practice? Love you and your art by the way!
(Thank you !! ;o; 💙💙💙💕💕)
Practice mostly, much like anything else. Years of practice at that pfft Though… DB was very much a later life endeavor and it’s rather hard to explain in full without bringing up this life story since I didn’t technically spend years practicing DB:
Being 4 years old and drawing the exact same subject for YEARS in a very determined effort to draw it just like how I saw it. Though, this subject was actually Sonic stuff lol. I just thought that drawing things the way it looked on TV (what I saw to be “on-model”) was how I’d be considered “good.” (I think) I know it had something to do with wanting my fake stuff to look “real” because of… it’s hard to recall why exactly. I just know that that’s something I wanted to do. I was a toddler and didn’t have anything but myself so- WELP.
And then after drawing and pretty much mastering Sonic stuff for like… probably a little less than a decade (that stuff STILL looks good! Which is really astonishing how much its held up for decades- i usually hate my old work), I sat and became determined again with drawing YuGiOh for about 3 years. In essence thats much more difficult than Sonic, but the timespan became shorter because I’ve since attained an improved eye from just drawing freaking Sonic. Also it took so long that first time because I was learning how to draw point blank. I always did it apparently, but y'know. I had to learn properly first.
NOW THIS IS WHERE DB FINALLY CAME INTO THE PICTURE. During that same time while getting into ygo (the later years… 2011 i think)- I tried drawing DBZ since I got into it as well, but that only took about a year to catch onto.
….then I went 5 years without drawing DBZ period (I took a break from the series).
AND ABOUT ONLY A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED DRAWING IT AGAIN, and since the last time I drew it half a decade ago, I’ve objectively improved artistically/skill-wise in basic aspects (thanks to a very good teacher in highschool) so catching onto DB’s general style once again after not dabbling with it for half a decade was rather second nature at this point. It only took… maybe a month to catch back onto it? (Im still trying to tbh) Also I didn’t have that much access to any references at the time when first starting out. I just drew along with the tv REALLY FAST jfksjfkhl But even then, it’s by no means perfect lol
I just learned a whole bunch of different things throughout my whole life. I’m just the type of person who catches on quickly to different styles because of some mindset I had when I was 4 that didn’t go away. (first 5 years of life are ur foundation years, whatever you learn then will pretty much stay with you forever) It’s not just exclusive to DB, I catch on to a bunch of stuff rather quickly nowadays. DB was one of the later things that’s essentially just one of the culminations of what I learned in the past.
Except I now have a bit easier access to references if I need them. (I stared at my manga a LOT)
…but yeah, long story short, yup. Just practice. Unless you consider me just being repetitive/obstinate as a child then eventually branching out as a technique then that may be something too. As far as I can tell, if you quote unquote “master” ONE thing [mine was apparently Sonic], you can take on anything else with relative ease. But you’re right about the uncanny thing tho lol, Its similar but a bell in your mind will tell you that it’s not the same pfft (I MEAN LOOK AT THE GUY WHO dOes the Super manga, or the Yamcha spinoff manga or any doujin ever that does the “DB style.” Frick even the numerous folk who work on the anime, it’s similar but anyone could probably see they aren’t quite the same)
I’m only 19 so I’d say 4 year old me made a good life choice. I just started reaaaally early with this stuff, so it’s so second nature now lol its hard to be brief.
(THANK U AGAIN THO AND SORRY FOR THIS SUPER LONG RESPONSE THAT PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN SHORTER 😭💕)

Did you base Rythlen off anyone? She's just so gorgeous. I was curious if you also modded your game to actually make her look like that, too, or if you altered her within your sketches. I love you and Rythlen so much, I think my inquisitor would love her! (I would say my Cousland as well but... You know, Rythlen is one! Lol)
Thank you!! >v

I didn’t base her off anyone, though I do have a faceclaim I use as reference every so often: Bridget Regan.

I’m blind when it comes to my girl, so they might not even look anything alike, but I like how Bridget looks XD Also, I play on the PS3/4, so no mods… I suck at the character creator, but I have my pen and my imagination. ᕙ( * •̀ ᗜ •́ * )ᕗ
