Importance of Blue Safety Spot lights in Forklift safety
Tumblr media
Pedestrian safety is a huge concern when operating forklifts. According to a Safety in Numbers report, crew fatalities constitute 11% of forklift accidents. While running the statistics, we also found that in California, 1 out of every ten forklifts will encounter at least one accident during their lifetime. But this can be prevented. Experts and professionals believe that over 70% of these accidents and injuries can be prevented easily by installing the right safety solutions. Workers are usually accountable for the other 30%.
Having some safety solutions in place can significantly reduce the chances of forklift mishaps and pedestrians getting struck by the forklift. A blue forklift safety lighting in particular is highly effective in preventing pedestrian-related forklift accidents. This warning light is designed to alert pedestrians that a forklift is approaching and that they should stay out of its way.
Let’s understand how blue spot forklift safety light is a simple yet powerful way to enhance visibility, prevent accidents, and create a safer work environment for your employees.

What is a Blue Spot Safety Light?
When activated, the blue forklift spotlight projects a distinct blue spot onto the ground, serving as a visual warning for workers. It is a sign for workers that the forklift is in operation, and they should stay away from the approaching vehicle.
This warning system is more effective than traditional sound warning systems because warehouses or manufacturing units are noisy. The sound of the alarm gets lost in the noise of machinery. Moreover, operators cannot keep the alarm on all the time. However, they can continuously keep blue safety lights on while driving the forklift.
That’s why the blue spot safety system is reliable for preventing accidents even in noisy factories, warehouses, and distribution centres. Plus, it’s effortless for operators, who just need to activate it, and for pedestrians, as bright blue light captures their attention immediately and is easier to track than sound alarms.
Overall, the forklift blue light safety system is a powerful solution to prevent accidents. It protects your workers with its capability to provide clear visual warnings.
How does it save workers from being struck?
‍Suppose a forklift operator is backing out of the loading dock. Because of the limited visibility, he cannot see the pedestrian walking behind the forklift. So when he moves the forklift in reverse direction, he is likely to run over this pedestrian unknowingly.
Clearly, the disaster can be avoided if the worker knows that the forklift will move backward or is provided with a visual cue for this. Blue spot safety lights give them this visual cue. They can spot the bright blue LED beam from a distance and move away, saving them from being struck by the forklift.
Features of SharpEagle blue spot safety lights
1. Casting aluminium alloy housing to ensure durability:
Our blue spot safety lights feature robust aluminium alloy housing to keep it from producing excessive heat. Further, the solid build of blue safety lights allows them to operate at normal temperatures, even in tough settings. Regulations for using blue spot safety
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is responsible for maintaining safe working environments. While its headquarters are in the United States, the standards set by OSHA are recognized worldwide.
OSHA outlines strict guidelines to ensure workers' safety, particularly in low-light conditions. It emphasizes on the use of forklift safety lights and horns to enhance the safety of forklift operations.
Although OSHA doesn’t explicitly mandate using blue spot safety lights on forklifts, it strongly recommends it. When an authoritative body like OSHA makes a suggestion, you know it's backed by in-depth research and experience.
So, while it may not be mandatory by law to use forklift safety lights, installing them to make your forklift operations safe does save your company from huge business costs resulting from accidents and their fatalities. Forklift safety lights require minimum to no special training for your operators in their everyday operations. There are no downsides to adopting these modern safety lighting solutions, making them a savvy investment for any industry. Also read: Why are forklift safety lights important?
How can forklift operators use it?
Many business owners are sceptical about installing blue spot safety lights or other safety systems because they are concerned about the operators' ability to use them.
But here's the thing—using a blue safety light for a forklift is incredibly straightforward. Operators simply need to toggle a switch. All they have to do is activate it from the forklift's control unit.
So, activating the blue safety light poses no challenge for operators - as long as they understand the importance of using safety lights.
Consider emphasizing the importance of using blue spot safety lights in your workplace. It will facilitate safety consciousness in the workplace and encourage the work crew to practice caution.

Related FAQs
What is the blue light on forklifts for?
The blue light on forklifts warns pedestrians about the moving forklift. They can notice the light from afar and know that an operating forklift is approaching. The blue-spot light on forklifts ensures pedestrians' safety by sending them a visual warning through a blue beam. It is a very simple and underrated safety solution for maintaining pedestrian safety at your workplace.
What is the blue spot warning light on a forklift?
Workers might face difficulty in hearing the horns or auditory warnings in a noisy warehouse or manufacturing facility. Moreover, if they are working while wearing earphones, they risk getting struck by a forklift. The blue spot warning system gives them a visual cue. The bright light cannot go unnoticed by them, so they can be aware of their surroundings.
What are blue spot lights for?
Blue spotlights warn pedestrians about the presence of forklifts. Because of the load, the operators have limited visibility. They cannot see if there’s a pedestrian in the way. Just like an ambulance has that colourful light with sirens, forklifts have blue safety lights to make them noticeable from afar. The lights tell pedestrians not to come in the way of the forklift and prevent workplace hazards.
Why are safety lights blue?
Safety lights are blue because the colour is highly visible during daylight. It effectively grabs attention and remains clear even in dusty environments. Thus, it makes sense to have safety lights in blue as they are highly noticeable. Workers can spot it and consider it as a visual warning to stay away.

Voyage of the Damned Part 3
Relationships: the Doctor x reader, Astrid x reader (platonic), Astrid x Doctor (platonic)
Summary: Voyage of the Damned rewrite. The Doctor and you find yourselves on the Titanic, space edition. You meet Astrid and get ready for a wonderful day, but then a meteor shower hits the ship and it starts falling towards Earth.
Author's notes: There was a number of things l didn't like about this Christmas special so again, l rewrote it.
Warnings: a ship crashes, multiple mentions of dearth bc a lot of people die, Astrid dies
"It's for the Doctor!" Astrid yelled at Midshipman Frame over the comms. She needed to teleport NOW. "Y/n and him are down on deck thirty-one, alone, against all the Host and Gods know what else and they're doing it for us!" Silence on the other end. "It's time we did something for them," she ended her speech with a finallity.
A moment passed and she feared she'd failed.
But then, "Giving you power," came through the comms.
~
"Only one person could have the power and the money to hide themselves on board like that. And l should know, 'cause..." the Doctor trailed off. You stared at the strange compartment you had found on deck thirty-one.
"My name is Max," a voice finished for him. A strange machine with a head in it came through the smoke.
"Who the hell are you?" it demaned.
"I'm y/n, and this is the Doctor," you pointed at your friend with false cheerfulness, "Hello!" you wiggled your fingers in greeting.
~
"You wreck the ship and the board find their shares halved in value." The Doctor was spelling out Capricorn's plan.
"But that's not enough," you interjected. From what you've learned about them, mad billionares who were losing all their money didn't do things half-way.
"Oh yes,"  the Doctor went on. "'Cause if a Max Capricorn ship hits the Earth, it destroys an entire planet. Outrage back home!" he growled. "Scandal! The buisness is wiped out!"
The billionare's head nodded. "And? The whole board is thrown in jail, for mass murder!" His eyes shone with revenge.
"While you sit here, safe in the- what's it called?" you turned to the Doctor.
"Impact camber," he filled in.
"I have men," Capricorn gloated now, "waiting to retreave me from the ruins. And enough off-world accounts to retire me to the beaches of Enhaxico Two where the ladies, so l'm told, are very fond of... metal."
You were going to puke.
"So that's the plan," the Doctor growled in rage. "A retirement plan. Two thousand people on this ship, six billion underneath us, all of them slaughtered and why? Because Max Capricorn is a loser."
"I never lose," the billionare's head scowled in threat and your voice immediately rang out, mocking, "You can't even sink the Titanic!"
"Oh but l can, pretty girl!" he laughed. "I can cancel the engines, from here!" Red lights and alarms were suddenly flaring everywhere before you could spit in his face.
The Doctor yelled behind you, "You can't do this!"
"Host, hold them!" Caprocorn ordered in turn and began the Gloat 2.0. "Not so clever now, are you? Shame we couldn't work together, you two are rather good. All that banter and yet not a word wasted." The head sighed. "Time for me to... retire."
Ugh, you thought as you furiously tried to get free. That pun alone would be enough to kill a buisness.
"The Titanic is falling, the sky will burn, let the Christmas inferno commence!" Capricorn yelled in victory and called his minions. "Kill them!"
The robots brought up their halos and went for the Doctor's neck.
"NO!" You fought with everything you had but you were late, you'd be too late!
"MISTER CAPRICORN!" a voice you knew cut through your fear.
And it ignited terror. It was Astrid, sitting in a forklift. "I resign," she told the head and drove forward, ful throttle.
"NO!" the Doctor and you screamed, "ASTRID STOP!" "ASTRID DON'T!"
She didn't listen and rammed into the life support system, but its engine was too strong. They were equal and couldn't move each other.
You bit, kicked and screamed, anything to get free.
But then she caught your eyes with hers and everything stopped. There was an eternity in her face. She looked at the Doctor too but you still stared at her.
Then she turned away and stepped on it. The life support lifted and she drove on.
There was no sound. The world was mute as you watched Astrid go over.
You were suddenly at the edge, looking at her disappear into the fire. Someone was screaming. Someone was screaming and you wanted to calm them, help them.
Then you realized it was your own voice.
The world came back into focus. The ship was falling apart and the Doctor was silent at your side. He was staring at the spot where Astrid had disappeared. His face was pale and his eyes blank. You laid your tears aside and took his hand.
"We need to go," you told him, your voice wet with tears. He didn't move.
"Doctor, we need to go,"  you told him again calmly. You thought that was why he looked at you suddenly, and then stood up.
He rewired a Host with lightning speed. It took you each under one arm and off you went.
When you broke through the ceiling of the bridge, you were still in one piece. Arms you had used to shield your head were a bit bloody and you were sure there were at least two splinters in them. You don't look the gift horse in the mouth, even though you would prefer a different Christmas miracle.
"What's your first name?" the Doctor asked the injured Midshipman Frame.
He answered in confusion, "Alonzo."
"You're kidding," the Doctor breathed as a shocked smile spread on his face. You didn't know. You just didn't know anymore. You were drowing in the emptiness inside you but his name was Alonzo.
"Allons-y, Alonzo!" the Doctor yelled and you held on tight. You didn't scream. You didn't even open your mouth. There was nothing anymore.
The Doctor whoohooed when he managed to right the course of the ship and you were just there. Were you there? Astrid wasn't. And that was what mattered in the end.
~
"TELEPORT!" the Doctor yelled and it didn't matter. "Y/N, SHE WAS WEARING A TELEPORT BRACELET!!!"
That woke you up. You ran faster than ever before, to the main deck where the teleport was.
"Brixton, sonic," the Doctor demanded from the billionare and caught it as it was thrown. "Mister Copper, the teleports, have they got an emergency setting??"
"I don't know, they should have?"
"She fell, Mister Copper, she fell!" the Doctor told him while pulling apart the machine like a madman. "What's the emergency code?"
The billionare interjected, "What the hell are you doing?"
"We can bring her back!" you yelled with everything in you.
The historian explained, "If a passenger has an accident on shore leave, their molecules are automatically suspended so they're in stasis, so if you just trigger the shift..."
"THERE!!!" the Doctor screamed and flicked the switch.
And there was your Astrid.
"Falling..." You could hear her voice!
"Only halfway there, come on!" The Doctor wasn't finished with the teleporter.
"I keep falling!" She was scared. Your friend was scared and you wanted nothing but to calm her. You carefully walked up to her and took hold of her hand. It felt like holding warm smoke.
There were tears on your cheeks already, again.
"If l can find the molecule grid, boost the restoration matrix and-" The computer snapped and threw sparks. "NO-NO-NO-NO-NO!!" the Doctor screamed in desparation, "need more phase containment-"
You sobbed, but you knew what was coming. You just looked at your Astrid Pith, into her crystal blue eyes and sushed her. "Hey, hey Astrid, it's alright. It's me, it's y/n, remember? You're alright. l've got you," you promised with a voice as soft as sunlight.
She didn't look as scared as before. Then, so slowly you thought you were imagining it, she looked at you.
"Let her go," you could hear the historian and you sobbed again.
But then Astrid's voice cut through. "Stop me falling?" she asked and you nodded. You found her gaze with yours and promised her, "Anything."
"She's just atoms," you heard Mister Copper from behind you. "An echo with a ghost of consciousness."
"She's stardust," you concluded as your voice broke. "You hear that Astrid?" you asked, still looking into her blue eyes."You're stardust."
She didn't seem to hear, so you did the only thing you could think of.
"There's an old tradition," you told her and softly kissed her cheek. Then you kissed the other, and then her forehead.
"You dreamt of traveling," the Doctor came to stand beside you. You were still sobbing when you pulled away from her and you didn't try to stop. There was no one there you needed to save face for.
"Now you can travel forever," you told her. You knew what the Doctor would do, and your eyes didn't leave hers for a moment.
You heard him soothe her, "You're not falling Astrid."
"You're flying," you both said in one voice.
You watched as she floated away, through the window into the universe.
Then you turned to the Doctor and buried your face in his chest as you both cried.
~
"I transferred all my shares to Max Capricorn's rivals. It's made me rich," the billionare Brixton admitted, disbelieving.
You were empty, and you were tired. That was the only reason why you didn't tear this man limb from limb. Astrid was dead.
"Mister Copper," the Doctor's voice woke you up. "I think, you deserve one of these."
You turned around and saw him holding a teleport bracelet out to the historian. Then, after the latter took it, he slipped one on your wrist. He took your hand and suddenly you were standing in the snow.
~
"But l can have a house, and a garden and-" You couldn't help but smile a little. At least Mister Copper would be alright.
The Doctor yelled after him, "Where are you going?"
"I have no idea!" the man replied in joy.
"Well, we don't either," your alien smiled gently at you and you tried to smile back, you really did. He looked at you, his brown eyes full of sorrow, and pulled you to him. You held onto him tightly as he hugged you.
"But! Y/N!" the historian yelled and you turned in his direction.
"I won't forget her," he promised you. You were tired, so so tired, so you just nodded. "Thank you," you told Mister Copper for her. "We won't either."
"We won't," the Doctor assured you softly, just to be sure.
Then he opened the TARDIS door and stepped into your home after you. You walked up the way and then stood in front of the controls, lost.
The Doctor walked up behind you and decided he would do anything, anything to keep away the blank look in your eyes. He turned to you and pulled you to him again. You let him, your movements sluggish and dazed.
"I've got you," he assured you. "I've got you, y/n. You aren't alone, and you aren't lost. You've got me." And that was enough. You sobbed into his chest, you didn't know for which time today.
But this was different. This was yours, and you clung to the Doctor as everything in you came to the surface.
His tears joined yours. He'd lost Astrid too, and he hated seeing you in pain. He slowly brought both of you down to kneel when you were too tired to stand.
And that was it. That was what you needed and that was what you had. You would be alright. In time, you would be alright.

Royal pt.4 (T’Challa)
Tumblr media
Summary: back to Berlin, to face the consequences.
Warnings: none
Word count: 1020
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
The EMTs bandaged me up and secured the fractured ribs. I refused to stay behind while my guys were taken into custody, so naturally, I joined them with a promise to see a doctor once things settle down.
We were transported to Berlin.
Traffic rolled around the victory column as our police convoy drove beside the river Spree. Amidst this convoy is a gray armed truck where Bucky was put with restraints inside a prison pod. Three armed guards sit on the other side of the glass-walled pod. The sight was unbearable, they were treating him like he was a rabid animal. The convoy turned a corner onto a bridge across the river, gently swaying me to the side. I was in an SUV, next to Steve, T'Challa and Sam in front of us.
„So, you like cats?“ Sam speaks and I glare at him. It's neither the time, nor place for this.
„Sam.“ Steve warns and I sigh loudly.
„What? Dude shows up dressed like a cat and you don't wanna know more?“ He remarks and I use my ability to my advantage. I manipulated the high levels of humidity around us, turning it into water and splashed Sam with it. He groans at the wet slap I sent his way with a wink to complete my pettiness. Steve nudges me and I hold in a painful groan. T'Challa looks at me with furrowed eyebrows and I give him the thumbs up pretending I was okay, but he didn't seemed fooled by it.
„Your suit... it's Vibranium?“ Steve questioned. T'Challa's eyes narrow as he glances sideways.
„The Black Panther has been the protector of Wakanda for generations. A mantle, passed from warrior to warrior. And now, because your friend murdered my father, I also wear the mantle of a king. So, I ask you... as both warrior and king... how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?“ T'Challa speaks, bitter about the turn of events. I didn't even realize that not only did he lose a father, but he was also tasked with defending his country as a king. It must be a great burden to bear. Steve is stony faced as the convoy heads underground. I knew that face, he wasn't giving up.
In a light gray walled bunker Bucky's pod is carried away by a forklift, while Steve and I get out of the SUV and glance across at him who doesn't spot either one of us. He seemed lost in a world of his own. A broken man.
With Sam and T'Challa already walking away, Steve and I approached Sharon Carter, another reason for my break up with Steve. She's standing with a diminutive, gray-head man who seemed like a coward hiding behind walls made of contracts that forced others to do his dirty work.
„What's gonna happen to him?“ Steve asks.
„Same thing that ought to happen to you. Psychological evaluation and extradition.“ I raise my eyebrows at his statement and stand up straight, ignoring the pain in my rib-cage. I couldn't afford to look weak right now.
„This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander.“ Sharon speaks, but I don't spare her a glance.
„What about our lawyer?“ Steve asks and I almost laugh at his question. Does he not know that they can lock us up and just throw away the key.
„Lawyer. That's funny. See their weapons are placed in lockup. Oh, we'll write you a receipt.“ Ross orders. He was arrogant and cocky...two things I disliked most in people.
„I better not look out the window and see anybody flying around in that.“ Sam raises his voice. As we go, Steve looks back and catches Bucky's eye.
„It's not over, yet.“ I whisper to him and leave.
„You'll be provided with an office instead of a cell. Now, do me a favor, stay in it?“ Ross says with fake niceness in his voice.
„I don't intend on going anywhere.“ T'Challa responds and I glance at him.
„For the record, this is what making things worse looks like.“ Nat tells Steve and shakes her head at me.
„He's alive.“ Steve replies.
„But she's barely breathing. Or do you not care about her anymore?“ She points at me and I look away as I feel everyone's gaze on me. I never like too much attention, especially when I wasn't in any state to defend myself. I definitely didn't appreciate her little remark about him and I. I wasn't the girl that keeps re-examining our last moments together, what I said, what he said... re-reading his texts, my replies... always wondering what I should have done differently. In my heart I knew there's another girl with her claws in him, far too deep for me to get him out of her reach and my stomach turns sickly again at the thought. He was never mine to begin with, no harm, no foul.
„No. Romania was not Accords-sanctioned. And, Colonel Rhodes is supervising cleanup.“ Tony spoke over the phone.
„Try not to break anything while we fix this.“ Nat said.
„Consequences? You bet there'll be consequences. Obviously you can quote me on that 'cause I just said it. Anything else? Thank you, sir.“ Tony ended the call.
„'Consequences'?“ Steve quotes Tony. I ignore the two and proceed to play with the water in the glass before me. I needed something to occupy my mind.
„Secretary Ross wants you both prosecuted. Had to give him something.“ Tony speaks and I look up.
„Both?“ I question.
„You're free thanks to him.“ He nods in T'Challa's direction and I turn to look at the king. My blue eyes met his brown ones and once again we stared at one another. Staring had become our only form of communication, it seems. It was a contest of sorts and I was determined to be the ultimate winner.
„I'm not getting that shield back, am I?“ Steve questions.
„Technically, it's the government's property. Wings, too.“ Natasha remarks.
„That's cold.“ Sam pipes in with a remark of his own.
„Warmer than jail.“ Tony points out.

Brunch at Tiffany’s
I worked at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts when I was in college back in the 90s. I was on a work study program, and I actually started in the work shop, in the basement.
This may sound like a mismatch, and it was, but not for the obvious reasons. I took shop in Jr. High school and, all things considered, I did pretty well. The class was one year long but divided into three sections: wood shop, technology, and metal shop. My wood shop teacher loved me. He gave me 150% on one assignment because I carved a 3D design when everyone else had done a 2D cutout. I rarely saw the tech teacher but his student teacher told me flat out (and in front of the entire class) not to come to him with any questions because he had no intention of helping me. “I know you are only here to meet boys.”
I was thirteen and I would not have known what to do with a boy if I managed to get one's positive attention. And anyway, I spent each day of class just trying to stay out of the path of those trolls. I don’t know if there were particularly nasty personalities in that group or if it was the result of getting too many thirteen year old boys in one room with power tools, but those boys were the worst! They were both mean and dangerous and they made every day torture. They were constantly trying to humiliate me into quitting, or at least crying. If I said anything in class – right or wrong – I was teased for it for the rest of the period. One day they would roll the spot welder into place behind me and set it off to burn my arms and singe my clothes with the flying sparks. The next, they would wait for me to walk into class and then they would strip the skinny nerdy kid of his pants and push him toward me. It was an exercise in tolerance, and I survived it, one day at a time. I hope that skinny nerdy kid did, too.
The metal shop instructor in the final section of class was helpful but stern. I never got a sense that he knew I was in any way different from the 29 other male students. Then one day I got called down to the office and learned he had nominated me for student of the month. Maybe he wanted to reward my fortitude? Or maybe he felt bad about putting the spot welder on wheeled castors to begin with. I'll never know.
Fast forward a few years, and I was looking for a work study job at the University of Utah. I saw a post at the art museum and thought it would be fun to work there. I think I listed two things on my job application: 1.) my year of shop training in 8th grade and 2.) the fact that I got the highest possible score on my AP art history exam. I got the job. I may have been the only person who applied.
My boss in the museum's shop was what we would now call a “hot mess,” though by the time I met him he was cold and lumpy. On my first day, he told me to "earthquake proof the Pre-Columbian exhibit." Then he went back into his office where he sat at his desk and stared at a corner in the ceiling while medium priced scotch directly from the bottle. We never spoke again.
I had no idea what to do or where to start. Maybe if this weren't the year 1995 it would have occurred to me to look up "how to earthquake proof old ceramics" on the internet, but it wasn't and I was screwed. I walked around the exhibit trying to get some ideas. I looked for ways to suspend the smaller objects from the ceiling so that if there were a quake they would swing around but never hit the ground. Or each other? But still be out of reach of thieves or handsy children? I decided it wouldn't work but I was feeling like I had made some progress by having a bad idea and eliminating it and that seemed positive. Then I noticed a large mask under filtered light. It had a strangely familiar texture. I leaned in and read the card next to the plexiglass box which read, “made of animal skin.” It was the generality that made it come together for me. Human. It was definitely human skin. I was convinced. I still am. If I had ever found a way to secure that collection I might have left that particular object to fend for itself.
I still had a work ethic back then and I couldn't just not work. Having no clue what I was supposed to do and a distinct fear of trying and failing, I was stuck. Then I noticed a shop-vac in the corner. It was one of those trash-can sized deals on wheels with a suction tube like an elephant’s trunk coming off the side. I named it R2 and it was my only co-worker for a while. I showed up to work three afternoons a week and I vacuumed every nook and crevice whether it needed it or not. And it didn't. Not at all. At the end of each shift I emptied R2 and then I went home. Until one day I showed up and was informed (not by my boss, but someone else) that I had been transferred to the gift shop. For a few seconds before the relief set in, I felt that I had let all of womankind down. I had a shop job, and I failed. Then I headed upstairs to the lobby and the sunlight and I left R2 behind without so much as a backward glance.
My new boss was a man named Brad who rarely came in to work, but when he did he was over dressed and wearing too much foundation. On the days that he didn't come in, I was told he suffered from migraines. I interpreted this as code for a penchant for late nights and hangovers, but I don't really know. I just know that I was again left alone, but this time with post cards, a cash register, and some clear expectations.
This was not the MET or MOMA. Sometimes I would go days without a customer. There was plenty of time to do homework, but in the summers I read entire Steven King novels while sitting behind the register. Once in a while I had a customer, and they would want to pay with a credit card. On those occasions I had to run through the museum and ask everyone in their offices to hang up their phones. “We made a sale! I need to use the phone line to run a charge!”
The 90s were an adorable time to be alive. I'm sorry if you missed them.
One day I was sitting at my station, writing in my journal or something, when the security guard stopped by to ask if I needed a bathroom break. Her name was Debbie and I just adored her. She was sweet and worldly and she had one deformed tiny hand, not unlike the Kristen Wiig “Dooneese” sketches on Saturday Night Live. At least, that is what it made me think of, many years later, when I saw them.  Debbie told me that when she was growing up, her mother always made her use her tiny had to clean out the garbage disposal and she was always frightened it might turn on spontaneously.
“Yes!” I shouted, hopping off my too tall stool. “Thank you!” But as I landed, the stool fell back and hit this weird waist high block thing that we used to push in front of the cash register area when no one was on duty in the gift shop. (It was very secure, obviously.) The block made a thunk and tipped on its side in the direction of the glass wall that was the only thing separating the gift shop area from the ten foot tall Tiffany crystal doors. I was told that they were a gift from Louis Comfort Tiffany to the LDS church in the late 1800s, but church leaders didn’t want them because they featured winged angels. Mormon angels don't have wings (because Joseph Smith saw some angels and he said they didn't have wings, and man who sees angels and talks to them in the woods and then reads secret books by putting his head in a hat and using magic stones to translate them into English is not weird. Angels with wings? That’s silly. Amazing what bunk some folks believe in. We don't want those. Give them to the university in case they ever get an art museum.).
I leapt between the falling block and the glass and stopped the impending crash with my body, the right angle edge of the block crushing into my full bladder. Luckily I was 19 and I didn't piss myself so that was the end of the drama.
“Woah,” I said. I looked back at the Tiffany angels, which are not the classic blue and green of the classic Tiffany lamp shades that you are probably picturing. They are long elegant slices of crystal with frosted angel designs carved into them. They could be the doors leading to Superman's Fortress of Solitude. For a moment I imagined them shattered and skittering in icy pieces across the floor. At the time, the museum's director was a diminutive octogenarian and man shaped ball of rage named Frank Sanguinetti. I had witnessed a few of his milder temper tantrums by then and I was imagining my new life as his forced butler or maid as I tried to work off the debt of the priceless art I had destroyed. I would have been buried in his garden beneath the irises within the week.
“Don't worry,” Debbie said, helping to unpin me with her little hand. “I always get clutzy on my period, too.”
That is when my head exploded. Yes, but how did she...? And was it true that...? Now that I think about it... Oh my goodness, yes! Why had no one told me before! This should be common knowledge! There should be a PSA or a warning label on forklifts, at the very least!
There have been a few occasions since that day nearly 20 years ago where I have watched a woman struggle with a task or gravity and, if I felt I knew her well enough, I repeated Debbie's phrase. “Don't worry, Sweetpea. I get like that when my red sea is parting, too.” (Side note, I just googled euphemisms for menstruation to find a funny one and was reminded that there aren’t any, so I just made that up. I did learn that in Japan they call it the “Arrival of Mathew Perry” which is the best thing I ever heard but I failed at finding a way to make it work here.) And each time I have witnessed a similar series of responses. Incredulousness, recognition, connection, amazement, horror, and finally amusement and laughter. Maybe not in that order exactly, but the moment usually ends with laughter. But there is always that moment of recognition. That moment of “Damn, she’s right! Why didn't I put that together myself? And why don't they mention that in those fifth grade maturation videos?”
I don't know the answer. It would have been nice. But as far as I can tell, it is still a well-kept secret.
I've been thinking about all of this the last few days, ever since I got the devastating alert on my phone that read the Cathedral of Notre Dame was on fire. It hurts to think about the loss of history and human accomplishment. The last I heard, they still didn't know how the fire began. It seems they have out-ruled arson, but I read that there was some reconstruction work going on somewhere in the cathedral. Which isn't a surprise. 800 year old buildings have a lot of maintenance required.
I just hope whatever stared the fire was some faulty piece of equipment being operated by some man. Women have suffered enough to build our cred with power tools. That is one disaster we simply do not need.

How To Increase Warehouse Safety With Forklift Safety Lights
Tumblr media
The convergence of heavy machinery and pedestrians within warehouses frequently leads to catastrophic outcomes. Sharp Eagle's unwavering commitment revolves around discovering innovative methods to enhance workplace safety for both humans and machines, and that's why we deal with forklift safety lights.
These lights for forklifts can be tailored to suit individual preferences and serve as an effortless means to prevent collisions in any kind of setting. By embracing safety lights, we can embrace a straightforward and effective approach to ensure a safer environment for all!
So let's see what those lights are, what makes them a perfect safety solution, and what kind of forklift lights you can get with us.
What Are Safety Lights?
These lights emit visual warnings near forklifts or other machinery to convey vital information to nearby workers. By projecting strong lights, these devices enhance safety by indicating the direction of travel for the machine.
Furthermore, they establish a protective zone around the equipment, enabling pedestrians to steer clear of potential hazards effortlessly. In noisy environments, visual warnings excel as they effectively capture attention, eliminating concerns about important alerts being pushed to the background by ambient noise, which is a common issue encountered with auditory systems like backup alarms.
Characteristics of Great Forklift Safety Lights
When it comes to enhancing forklift safety in a warehouse, selecting appropriate safety lights holds great significance. To ensure that your warehouse or work environment reaps the advantages, your forklifts need to have certain "qualities":
Brightness: An effective forklift safety light must possess sufficient brightness to remain visible even in low light or high glare conditions. It should serve as a prominent warning signal, effectively alerting pedestrians and nearby workers to the presence of the forklift.
Durability: Given the demanding nature of warehouse settings, forklift safety lights often undergo rough handling and exposure to harsh environmental factors. Therefore, a reliable safety light should exhibit durability, capable of withstanding such conditions without succumbing to breakage or malfunction.
Energy efficiency: Optimal forklift safety lights prioritise energy efficiency by employing low-power LED technology. This not only minimises battery drain but also reduces the frequency of battery replacements, contributing to cost savings and sustainability.
Versatility: A commendable forklift safety light should offer versatility and adaptability to diverse settings and environments. It should have the capacity to withstand various weather conditions, ensuring seamless functionality both indoors and outdoors.
With careful selection of forklift safety lights, you can establish a safe and productive warehouse environment for both workers and operators. Understanding how these safety lights contribute to a better and safer work setting is vital for fostering a culture of workplace well-being.
Ease of Use
Another significant characteristic of these safety devices is that they should be as easy to use as possible! And it holds for our lights — the installation process for these forklift safety lights is straightforward. They can be easily mounted directly onto the front, back, and sides of the forklift or other machinery.
In most cases, forklifts are equipped with pre-drilled holes specifically designed for mounting warning lights and work lights. However, safety lights also provide brackets that securely attach to the forklift without the requirement for any drilling. This hassle-free installation method ensures convenience and saves valuable time during the setup process.
Different Types
The forklift safety lights offer a range of models and functions, each projecting a distinct shape:
Spot: Spotlights are commonly utilised in warehouses, providing focused illumination.
Arrow: Arrows are gaining popularity due to their added functionality of clearly indicating the direction in which the machine is moving, facilitating effective communication.
Arc: Mounted on the rear of the machine, arc lights visually emphasize the safety zone at the back through an illuminated arc, ensuring heightened awareness.
Side-mounted forklift safety lights play a crucial role in a comprehensive safety system. They project a line alongside the machine, working in conjunction with lights on the front and back. Combining these lights establishes a complete safety zone, enabling individuals to easily gauge the necessary distance to maintain a safe position away from potential risks.
Some lights project different shapes to enhance safety measures. For instance, triangle-shaped lights serve as recognizable symbols reminiscent of traffic signs. When passers-by encounter a triangle light, they instinctively comprehend the need to yield to the machine, as they are already familiar with this shape from their experiences driving on roads.
Incorporating these diverse shapes and models of forklift safety lights amplifies safety measures, contributing to a more secure work environment! Let's see what kind of lights we have in store for you.
