Finally got around to doing this, here are some rough sketches of my idea of how Lester looks each book! Some books are more different than others, like I don't think much changed between books 1 and 2, but I had fun doing this! Look under the cut for some notes about things I added for each design.
Book 1: Not much changes from how he's described in the books. All of the clothes he borrowed from Percy are a bit too big for him, but the flannel he borrowed from Will fits pretty well, only being slightly too long (I think Will has like, an inch over Lester)
Book 2: Basically the same as book 1 Lester. He keeps the flannel Will gave him, but it gets pretty beat up over the course of this book so he has to switch it out before book 3 :(. Hair is just a lil bit longer, and he gets clothes that fit a bit better. Headcanon time bc if Rick won't give me substantial Thalia and Apollo interaction I'll make it myself: Thalia gives Lester archer's gloves at the end of TDP, which he wears for the rest of the series. He didn't even think to wear gloves bc as a god he wouldn't need them, but Thalia noticed his beat up to shit hands at the Waystation and went "bestie... bestie no...." and gave him a pair.
Book 3: Will's flannel has been swapped for a big coat and Lester get his iconic pink camo pants. His hair is long enough to start getting weighed down a bit, and also way messier bc he's been in the labyrinth for like a month. The beat up sneakers he was wearing in books 1 & 2 get replaced with much more reasonable boots. Eyebrow scar shows up, a reminder from one of the many concussions this poor man has suffered. Also another HC time! Georgie gives Lester a little handkerchief that he wears for the rest of the series (I was gonna use Paolo's handkerchief, but Lester canonically gives that back so boo)
Book 4: The Lester looks like shit book /j. His hair is now long enough that he should really be doing something with it but he is not. He has a zip up hoodie now to cover up all his fun purple veins. Just more beat up in general honestly. Also I hc that Apollo actually lost some weight here (both bc he wasn't really eating well before getting to New Rome bc of stress/grief, and bc he got really sick and continued to not eat well while that was happening) But it obviously doesn't do anything to help his self-esteem or mood in this book. Kind've a visual way of being like "the superificial flaws Apollo clung to in the first book weren't the real issue, he was just hyperfixating on them to distract himself from what he was really upset about, so when the superficial issues get solved he doesn't even notice bc he's grown enough as a character to cut the bullshit and focus on what's really bothering him." or idk something like that. I like to contrast this with a hc I've mentioned before about the time between books 4 and 5, which is that the physical flaws Apollo whined about in book 1 (i.e. the acne and his weight) get "worse" throughout the road trip from California to New York, but Apollo truly just does not care that much about that shit anymore and that's why it doesn't come up in the narration.
Book 5: Final Lester! It's been over a month since the last book so I'm taking liberties and saying Lester's hair is long enough to pull up now bc I want him to be able to do that goddammit. Final outfit is borrowed from Percy again, so that's why it's so big. He also has a pendant that Lavinia gave to him bc they're besties. Also I forgot to mention it, but his shoulders are slightly broader here (and have been getting broader throughout the series) bc he's been working those muscles so much with the constant archery.
Also I didn't draw his quiver bc honestly I forgor, but I like to imagine he's been getting little pins and bobs from a lot of his friends that he's been sticking on his quiver strap. A few examples that come to mind are:
Kayla: A classic hot topic pin with a sun with sunglasses on it.
Leo: A pin made of scrap metal with the alchemical symbol for fire carved in.
Agave: Pinned a clover to Apollo's quiver for good luck. It didn't stay on there long, but it was the thought that counted.
Hazel: A piece of citrine decorated with metal cords.
Lavinia: Another classic hot topic pin, this one is heart shaped and has a picture of Hatsune Miku on it.
Jason: One of the monopoly houses he'd been using to mark the positions for the temples. A lot of the little houses had fallen off the diorama during the car crash at the beginning of TTT. The night after, Apollo asked Reyna if he could make sure the diorama was fixed. Reyna agreed, and he put it back together based on what he remembered. He spent an hour or so gluing on houses and hotels for Mars, Somnus, Fons, Salus, and on and on, until he got to the last one. A red hotel meant to show where the temple of Apollo would go. Apollo poked a little hole in it, and fastened it to his quiver with a bobby pin. It's nestled close to where the strap meets the quiver itself, so it's less likely to fly off.
Meg: Pinned a rose petal to his quiver right before he went to fight Python. It lasted for even less time than Agave's clover did, but again, it was the thought that counted.
#sunny speaks#long post#trials of apollo#toa apollo#lester papadopoulos#apollart#fun fact: all of the colors I used for these were color picked from the covers of the books they came from!#oh and i forgot to mention he also get more freckles as the series goes on bc he spends so much time outside

My opinions for Riordan verse books that no one asked for but will provide anyways
WARNING THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE SO IN THE WORDS OF SCAR 'BE PREPARED'
・Three book long series, first with Luke running away until he finds Thalia, second after they find Annabeth and their travels, third after Thalia dies and their time at camp before Percy, all from Luke's pov, we get more insight on his backstory and how he felt throughout everything outside of Percy's pjo which is where we saw everything. Also maybe we could get some Thalia x Luke before the betrayal..?
・A five book long series with a crossover with mcaga, tkc and pjo/hoo/toa, we already know their are some problems rising and I think some of the interaction (eg. Alex with Nico and Will with Magnus) could be really interesting to see. Also I feel like there could be something involving bringing Jason back as his death felt really unnecessary and sort of... Idk unfinished or something. Another idea I had for this was after maybe the first one or two books Percy in a way becomes Luke, trying to reach him in any way and carrying out his plan of overthrowing the gods however this time not with the help or Kronos but just trying to convince the other demigods to join him and a kind of descent to madness with him being tired of getting used.
・A standalone book, sort of like tsats except it's about Jason's life with Lupa and his time at Camp Jupiter, maybe just a short story but I feel like it could be good.
・Similar to the previous, a story about Reyna and her life before HoO, maybe a split pov with her and her sister because I feel like that story has a lot of potential.
・A book about Leo, set around the same time as tsats, maybe something to do with his dad or with the waystation, probably involving Calypso, Piper and Reyna (maybe him and Cal getting more development (OR A BREAK UP PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF APOLLO) and kind of fleshing her out because right now she doesn't have much character imo) maybe he could also try to convince Hazel or Nico (probably Hazel because I feel like he doesn't have enough development with Nico to play this out) to let him see Jason again and him trying to join him.
・A bunch of short stories (like 10ish pages each length) of Rachel's experiences being the Oreacal and just what it's like, maybe also giving her some development with other characters (maybe Nico with them bonding on feeling out of place) and also some story with her family and how her life is.
・A collection of short stories which is basically just fluff because we don't get enough of that (Solangelo, Fierrochase, Percabeth, etc.)
・ Another short story (I'm sorry I warned you) with Annabeth right after the war, about her being mad at Luke, upset about his death, still caring about him and her getting a visit from Hermes, maybe expecting sympathy but just getting blamed for his death, also maybe a flashback of Luke asking her to leave in a nightmare.
・A book just with everyone's reaction to Jason death because I hate myself, not just in the moment but like a few weeks after and what they did and stuff (Leo, Piper, Frank, Hazel, Percy, Annabeth, Reyna, Nico)
・A collection of short stories about minor characters (Kayla, Austin, Connor, Travis, Clarisse, Lavinia, and just like under appreciated characters)
・A book with Reyna and Thalia split pov about them being in the Hunt and maybe a mission and Reyna could find out more about Bianca stuff. They could also maybe secretly get together but keep it hidden to stay in the hunt (or they leave the hunt and join the Amazons with Hylla (Reyna's sister) and they kind of start to bond) Also Hazel could be brought up because she technically stole from them.
・A short story with Nico and Bianca's life in the 1930s/when they're in the Lotus Casino, how they felt, what their life was like, etc.
Obviously a bunch of these short stories would be in one book, comment your suggestions xx
UPDATE BECAUSE I COMPLETELY FORGOT
・a book on Alabaster, his time at camp, maybe him meeting Nico in the time between pjo and hoo cuz that would be cool, what he does after Son of Magic, interactions (maybe relationship...?) with Ethan. Also just like a whole three book series about him and he could be in that cross over book (second idea), maybe as a villain or someone who helps Percy when he wants to overrule the gods
・A book on Ethan, just what his life's been like, maybe something like the diary of Luke Castellen
・this one would probably be part of another book/story/series but Grover going sort of insane, maybe possessed by Gaia (because let's be honest the fight was a bit anticlimactic, hoo is probably still my favorite series but that ending was kinda meh after all the build up, I think something that would have made it more dramatic would have been Percy not letting everyone else take control (his fatal flaw is personal loyalty) then when Leo dies (which was his plan anyways) he blames himself for it because he thought if he'd listened and stayed aside he would have lived anyways that was off topic) because he doesn't like how nature's getting ruined and it's a 1v1 fight with him and Percy and he would try to talk him out of it because he doesn't want to fight his best friend but ya know he's been possessed and can't tell it's his best friend so Percy ends up surrendering (maybe dying but that seems like a bad story choice because he's the main character and that would be a bad choice logically because you would have to bring him back (if they were to do that then it could be like the Orpheus and Eurydice story except Annabeth has to do a bunch of tasks for Hades and Nico's begging him to make it easy for her and her pride makes her think she can save them all (Luke, Jason Bianca, Ethan, Selina, Beckendorf etc.) and ends up saving none of them the Nico and Hazel have to bargain with Persephone and Hades to let Percy come back) which then after Grover gets released but it's before Percy comes back so he has to live with that guilt but at the same time he still hates humans for destroying nature and (this is a bit out there hold on) he becomes the I guess new Pan and is protecting nature. (This would also probably be a part of the second idea (again) but before Percy wants to overthrow Zeus so that he has the power of a God on his hands)

Seeing the Beauty (Piper McLean x Fem!Jackson!Reader) - Chapter 15
Series Masterlist
Main Masterlist
The mountainside is on fire. Smoke billows hundreds of feet in the air. (Y/n) spots a helicopter – maybe firefighters or reporters – coming towards them.
All around them is carnage. The Earthborn had melted into piles of clay, leaving behind only their rock missiles and some nasty bits of loincloth, but (Y/n) figures they would reform soon enough. Construction equipment lies in ruins and the ground is scarred and blackened.
Coach Hedge starts to move. He sits up with a groan and rubs his head. His canary yellow pants are now the color of Dijon mustard mixed with mud.
He blinks and looks around him at the battle scene. “Did I do this?”
Before Jason can reply, Hedge picks up his club and gets shakily to his feet. “Yeah, you wanted some hoof? I gave you some hoof, cupcakes! Who’s the goat, huh?”
He does a little dance, kicking rocks and making what are probably rude satyr gestures at the piles of clay.
Leo cracks a smile, and Jason can’t help it — he starts to laugh. It probably sounds a little hysterical, but it’s such a relief to be alive, he doesn’t care.
Then a man stands up across the clearing. Tristan McLean staggers forward. His eyes are hollow, shell-shocked, like someone who’d just walked through a nuclear wasteland. “Piper?” he calls. His voice cracks. “Pipes, what — what is —” He can’t complete the thought. Piper runs over to him and hugs him tightly but he almost doesn’t seem to know her.
(Y/n) had felt a similar way — that morning at the Grand Canyon, when she woke with no memory. But Mr. McLean has the opposite problem. He has too many memories, too much trauma his mind just can’t handle. He is coming apart.
“We need to get him out of here,” Jason says, as though reading (Y/n)’s mind.
“Yeah, but how?” Leo says. “He’s in no shape to walk.”
Jason glances up at the helicopter, which is now circling directly overhead. “Can you make us a bullhorn or something?” he asks Leo. “Piper has some talking to do.”
. . .
Borrowing the helicopter is easy. Getting her dad on board is not.
Piper needs only a few words through Leo’s improvised bullhorn to convince the pilot to land on the mountain. The Park Service copter is big enough for medical evacuations or search and rescue, and when Piper tells the very nice ranger pilot lady that it would be a great idea to fly them to the Oakland Airport, she readily agreed.
“No,” her dad mutters, as they pick him up off the ground. “Piper, what — there were monsters — there were monsters —”
She needs (Y/n)’s help to hold him, while Coach Hedge gathers their supplies. Fortunately Hedge had put his pants and shoes back on, so Piper doesn’t have to explain the goat legs.
It breaks Piper’s heart to see her dad like this — pushed beyond the breaking point, crying like a little boy. She doesn’t know what the giant had done to him exactly, how the monsters had shattered his spirit, but she doesn’t think she can stand to find out.
“It’ll be okay, Dad,” she says, making her voice as soothing as possible. She doesn’t want to charmspeak her own father, but it seems like the only way. “These people are my friends. We’re going to help you. You’re safe now.”
He blinks, and looks up at helicopter rotors. “Blades. They had a machine with so many blades. They had six arms . . .”
When they get him to the bay doors, the pilot comes over to help. “What’s wrong with him?” she asks.
“Smoke inhalation,” Jason suggests. “Or heat exhaustion.”
“We should get him to a hospital,” the pilot says.
“It’s okay,” Piper replies. “The airport is good.”
“Yeah, the airport is good,” the pilot agrees immediately. Then she frowns, as if uncertain why she’d changed her mind. “Isn’t he Tristan McLean, the movie star?”
“No,” Piper says. “He only looks like him. Forget it.”
“Yes,” the pilot replies. “Only looks like him. I —” She blinks, confused. “I forgot what I was saying. Let’s get going."
Jason raises his eyebrows at Piper, obviously impressed, but Piper feels miserable. She doesn't want to twist people’s minds, convince them of things they didn’t believe. It feels so bossy, so wrong — like something Drew would do back at camp, or Medea in her evil department store. And how will it help my father? She can’t convince him he would be okay, or that nothing had happened. His trauma is just too deep.
Finally they get him on board, and the helicopter takes off. The pilot keeps getting questions over her radio, asking her where she is going, but she ignores them. They veer away from the burning mountain and head towards the Berkeley Hills.
“Piper.” Her dad grasps her hand and holds on like he was afraid he’d fall. “It’s you? They told me—they told me you would die. They said . . . horrible things would happen.”
“It’s me, Dad.” It takes all her willpower not to cry. She has to be strong for him. “Everything’s going to be okay.”
“They were monsters,” he says. “Real monsters. Earth spirits, right out of Grandpa Tom’s stories — and the Earth Mother was angry with me. And the giant, Tsul’kalu, breathing fire —” He focuses on Piper again, his eyes like broken glass, reflecting a crazy kind of light. “They said you were a demigod, Your mother was . . ."
“Aphrodite,” Piper says. “Goddess of love.”
“I – I –” he takes a shaky breath, then seems to forget how to exhale.
Piper’s friends are careful not to watch. Leo fiddles with a lug nut from his tool belt. Jason gazes at the valley below – the roads backing up as mortals stop their cars and gawk at the burning mountain. (Y/n) is drinking a bottle of water – Smart thing for a Poesidon kid to do, Piper thinks – and studying the nicks in Tsunami’s blade. Geeson chews the stub of his carnation, and for once, the satyr doesn’t look in the mood to yell or boast.
Traistan McLean isn’t supposed to be seen like this. He’s a star – confident, stylish, suave, and always in control. That was the image he’d always projected. Piper had seen the image falter before, but this is different. Now it’s broken, gone.
“I didn’t know about Mom,” Piper tells him. “Not until you were taken. When we found out where you were, we came right away. My friends helped me. No one will hurt you again.”
Her dad can’t stop shivering. “You’re heroes – you and your friends. I can’t believe it. You’re a real hero, not like me. Not playing a part. I’m so proud of you, Pipes.” But the words are muttered listlessly, in a semi-trance.
He gazes down on the valley, and his grip on Piper’s hand goes slack. “Your mother never told me.”
“She thought it was for the best.” It sounds lame, even to Piper, and no amount of charmspeak can change that. But she doesn’t tell her dad what Aphrodite had really worried about: If he has to spend the rest of his life with those memories , knowing that gods and spirits walk the earth, it will shatter him.
Piper feels inside the pocket of her jacket. The vial is still there, warm to her touch. How can I erase his memories? Dad finally knows who I am. He’s proud of me, and I’m his hero, not the other way around. He’d never send me away, now. They shared a secret. How can I go back to the way things were?
She holds his hand, speaking to him about small things — her time at the Wilderness School, her cabin at Camp Half-Blood. She tells him how Coach Hedge ate carnations and got knocked on his butt on Mount Diablo, how Leo had tamed a dragon, how much of a good swordfighter and battle strategist (Y/n) was, and how Jason had made wolves back down by talking in Latin. Her friends smile reluctantly as she recounts their adventures. Her dad seems to relax as she talks, but he doesn’t smile. Piper isn’t even sure he heard her.
As they pass over the hills into the East Bay, Jason tenses. He leans so far out the doorway (Y/n) is afraid he’d fall, and she reaches out to grab the back of his collared shirt.
He points. “What is that?”
Piper looks down, but she doesn’t see anything interesting — just hills, woods, houses, little roads snaking through the canyons. A highway cuts through a tunnel in the hills, connecting the East Bay with the inland towns.
“Where?” Piper asks.
“That road,” he replies. “The one that goes through the hills.”
Piper picks up the com helmet the pilot had given her and relays the question over the radio. The answer isn’t very exciting.
“She says it’s Highway 24,” Piper reports. “That’s the Caldecott Tunnel. Why?”
Jason stares intently at the tunnel entrance, but he says nothing. It disappears from view as they fly over downtown Oakland, but Jason still stares into the distance, his expression almost as unsettled as Piper’s dad’s.
“Monsters,” her dad sats, a tear tracing his cheek. “I live in a world of monsters.”
. . .
Air traffic control doesn't want to let an unscheduled helicopter land at the Oakland Airport – until Piper gets on the radio, that is.
They all unload on the tarmac, and everyone looks at Piper.
“What now?” (Y/n) asks Piper gently.
Piper feels slightly uncomfortable. She doesn’t want to be in charge, but for her dad’s sake, she has to appear confident. She has no plan. She’d just remembered that he’d flown into Oakland, which means his private plane would still be here. But today is the solstice. They have to save Hera. They have no idea where to go or even if they were too late. And how can I leave Dad in this condition?
“First think,” Piper says. “I – I have to get my dad home. I’m sorry, guys.”
Leo’s and Jason’s faces fall, but (Y/n)’s expression settles into an empathetic one – as though she understood exactly the problem that was raging in Piper’s head.
Oh,” Leo says. “I mean, absolutely. He needs you right now. We can take it from here.
“Pipes, no,” Tristan McLean had been sitting in the hospital doorway, a blanket around his shoulders. But he stumbles to his feet. “You have a mission. A quest. I can’t –”
“I’ll take care of him,” interrupts Coach Hedge.
Piper stares at him. The satyr is the last person she’d expected to offer. “You?” she asks.
“I’m a protector,” Gleeson says. “That’s my job, not fighting.”
He sounds a little crestfallen, and Piper realizes maybe she shouldn’t have recounted how he got knocked unconscious in the last battle. In his own way, maybe the satyr is as sensitive as her dad.
Then Hedge straightens, and set his jaw. “Of course, I’m good at fighting, too.” He glares at them all, daring them to argue.
“Yes,” Jason says.
“Absolutely,” (Y/n) grins.
“Terrifying,” Leo agrees.
The coach grunts . “But I’m a protector, and I can do this. You dad’s right, Piper. You need to carry on with the quest.”
“But . . .” Piper’s eyes sting, as if she were back in the forest fire. “Dad . . .”
He holds out his arms, and she hugs him. He feels frail. He is trembling so much, it scares her.
“Let’s give them a minute,” Jason says, and they take the pilot a few yards down the tarmac.
“I can’t believe it,” her dad says. “I failed you.”
“No, Dad!”
“The things they did, Piper, the visions they showed me . . .”
“Dad, listen.” She takes out the vial from her pocket. “Aphrodite gave me this, for you. It takes away your recent memories. It’ll make it like none of this ever happened.”
He gazes at her, as if translating her words from a foreign language. “But you’re a hero. I would forget that?”
“Yes,” Piper whispers. She forces an assuring tone into her voice. “Yes, you would. It’ll be like—like before.”
He closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. “I love you, Piper. I always have. I — I sent you away because I didn’t want you exposed to my life. Not the way I grew up — the poverty, the hopelessness. Not the Hollywood insanity either. I thought — I thought I was protecting you.” He manages a brittle laugh. “As if your life without me was better, or safer.”
Piper takes his hand. She’d heard him talk about protecting her before, but she’d never believed it. She’d always thought he was just rationalizing. Her dad seems so confident and easygoing, like his life is a joyride. How can he claim she needs protecting from that?
Finally Piper understands he’d been acting for her benefit, trying not to show how scared and insecure he was. He really had been trying to protect her. And now his ability to cope has been destroyed.
She offers him the vial. “Take it. Maybe someday we’ll be ready to talk about this again. When you’re ready.”
“When I’m ready,” he mutters. “You make it sound like — like I’m the one growing up. I’m supposed to be the parent.” He takes the vial. His eyes glimmer with a small desperate hope. “I love you, Pipes.”
“Love you, too, Dad.”
He drinks the pink liquid. His eyes roll up into his head, and he slumps forward. Piper catches him, and her friends run up to help.
“Got him,” Hedge says. The satyr stumbles, but he is strong enough to hold Tristan McLean upright. “I already asked our ranger friend to call up his plane. It’s on the way now. Home address?”
Piper is about to tell her. Then a thought occurs to her; she checks her dad’s pocket, and his BlackBerry is still there. It seems bizarre to Piper that he’d still have something so normal after everything he’d gone through, but she guesses Enceladus hadn’t seen any reason to take it.
“Everything’s on here,” Piper says. “Address, his chauffeur’s number. Just watch out for Jane.”
Hedge’s eyes light up, like he sensed a possible fight. “Who’s Jane?”
By the time Piper explains, her dad’s sleek white Gulf-stream had taxied next to the helicopter.
Hedge and the flight attendant get Piper’s dad on board. Then Hedge comes down one last time to say his good-byes. He gives Piper a hug and glares at Jason, (Y/n), and Leo. “You cupcakes take care of this girl, you hear? Or I’m gonna make you do push-ups.”
“Absolutely, Coach,” (Y/n) smiles, her eyes crinkling with smile lines.
“You got it,” Leo says, a smile tugging at his mouth.
“No push-ups,” Jason promises.
Piper gives the old satyr one more hug. “Thank you, Gleeson. Take care of him, please."
“I got this, McLean,” he assures her. “They got root beer and veggie enchiladas on this flight, and one hundred percent linen napkins — yum! I could get used to this.”
(Y/n) steps forward, pulling the Coach to the side for a moment. “I’ll talk to Grover, for you, okay?” she says.
The Coach smiles slightly, clapping her on the shoulder. “You’re a good kid, Jackson.” Trotting up the stairs, the Coach loses one shoe, and his hoof is visible for just a second. The flight attendant’s eyes widen, but she looks away and pretends nothing is wrong. Piper figures she’d probably seen stranger things, working for Tristan McLean.
When the plane is heading down the runway, Piper starts to cry. She’d been holding it in too long and she just can’t anymore. Before she knows it, (Y/n) is hugging her, and Leo stands uncomfortably nearby, pulling Kleenex out of his tool belt.
“Your dad’s in good hands,” (Y/n) murmurs. “You did amazing.”
Piper sobs into (Y/n)’s shirt. She allows herself to be held for six deep breaths, inhaling (Y/n)’s natural ocean scent. And then seven. PIper decides she can’t indulge herself anymore. Her friends need her. The helicopter pilot is already looking uncomfortable, like she is starting to wonder why she’d flown them here.
“Thank you, guys,” Piper says. “I —” She wants to tell them how much they mean to her. They’d sacrificed everything, maybe even their quest, to help her. She can’t repay them, can’t even put her gratitude into words. But her friends’ expressions tell her they understand.
Then, right next to Jason, the air begins to shimmer. At first Piper thinks it’s heat off the tarmac, or maybe gas fumes from the helicopter, but she’d seen something like this before in Medea’s fountain. It’s an Iris message. An image appears in the air — a dark-haired girl in silver winter camouflage, holding a bow.
Jason stumbles back in surprise. “Thalia!”
“Thank the gods,” says the Hunter. The scene behind her is hard to make out, but Piper hears yelling, metal clashing on metal, and explosions. “We’ve found her,” Thalia says. “Where are you?”
“Oakland,” he replies. “Where are you?”
“The Wolf House! Oakland is good; you’re not too far. We’re holding off the giant’s minions, but we can’t hold them forever. Get here before sunset, or it’s all over.”
“Then it’s not too late?” Piper cries. Hope surges through her, but Thalia’s expression quickly dampens it.
“Not yet,” Thalia says. “But Jason — it’s worse than I realized. Porphyrion is rising. Hurry.”
“But where is the Wolf House?” he pleads.
“Our last trip,” Thalia says, her image starting to flicker. “The park. Jack London. Remember?”
This makes no sense to Piper, and (Y/n) comments “Jason, I love your sister like a sister, but she could’ve made more sense.”
Jason, however, looks like he’d been shot. He totters, his face pale, and the Iris message disappears.
“Bro, you all right?” Leo asks. “You know where she is?”
“Nfes,” Jason says. “Sonoma Valley. Not far. Not by air.”
Piper turns to the ranger pilot, who’d been watching all this with an increasingly puzzled expression.
“Ma’am,” Piper says with her best smile. “You don’t mind helping us one more time, do you?”
“I don’t mind,” the pilot agrees.
“We can’t take a mortal into battle,” Jason says. “It’s too dangerous.” He turns to Leo. “Do you think you could fly this thing?”
“Um . . .” Leo’s expression doesn’t reassure Piper, but then (Y/n) speaks.
“I can.”
Jason, Piper, and Leo look at her, bewildered and (Y/n) shrugs.
“Rachel’s dad had a helicopter,” (Y/n) explains, though that wasn’t much of an explanation.
Piper smiles at the ranger again. “You don’t have a problem with an under-aged unlicensed kid borrowing your copter, do you? We’ll return it.”
“I –” The pilot nearly chokes on the words, but she gets them out: “I don’t have a problem with that.”
(Y/n) grins. “Hop in.”
. . .
The sun is going down as they fly north over the Richmond Bridge, and (Y/n) can’t believe the day had gone so quickly. Nothing like raging ADHD and a good fight to the death to make time fly, she thinks.
Piloting the chopper, she goes back and forth between confidence and panic. If she doesn’t think about it, (Y/n) finds herself automatically flipping the right switches, checking the altimeter, easing back on the stick, and flying straight. If she allowed herself to think about what she's doing, her brain keeps telling her that Jason’s dad would strike them out of the sky.
“Going okay?” Piper asks from the copilot’s seat. Piper sounds more nervous than she is, so (Y/n) puts on a brace face.
“Great,” (Y/n) replies.
“What’s the Wolf House?” Leo asks, he and Jason kneeling side by side in between (Y/n) and Piper’s seats.
“An abandoned mansion in the Sonoma Valley. A demigod built it – Jack London,” Jason replies.
Leo can’t seem to place the name. “He an actor?”
“A writer, I think,” (Y/n) replies and Piper hums in agreement.
“Adventure stuff, right? Call of the Wild? White Fang?”
“Yeah,” Jason says. “He was a son of Mercury — I mean, Hermes. He was an adventurer, traveled the world. He was even a hobo for a while. Then he made a fortune writing. He bought a big ranch in the country and decided to build this huge mansion — the Wolf House.”
“Named that ’cause he wrote about wolves?” Leo guesses.
“Partially,” Jason replies. “But the site, and the reason he wrote about wolves — he was dropping hints about his personal experience. There’re a lot of holes in his life story — how he was born, who his dad was, why he wandered around so much — stuff you can only explain if you know he was a demigod.”
The bay slips behind them, and the helicopter continues north. Ahead of them, yellow hills rolled out as far as (Y/n) can see.
“So Jack London went to Camp Half-Blood,” Leo guesses.
“No,” Jason frowns. “No, he didn’t.”
“Bro, you’re freaking me out with the mysterious talk. Are you remembering your past or not?”
“Pieces,” Jason says. “Only pieces. None of it good. The Wolf House is on sacred ground. It’s where London started his journey as a child — where he found out he was a demigod. That’s why he returned there. He thought he could live there, claim that land, but it wasn’t meant for him. The Wolf House was cursed. It burned in a fire a week before he and his wife were supposed to move in. A few years later, London died, and his ashes were buried on the site.”
“So,” Piper says, “how do you know all this?”
A shadow crosses Jason’s face. Probably just a cloud, but (Y/n) can swear the shape looked like an eagle.
“I started my journey there too,” Jason replies. “It’s a powerful place for demigods, a dangerous place. If Gaea can claim it, use its power to entomb Hera on the solstice and raise Porphyrion — that might be enough to awaken the earth goddess fully.”
(Y/n) kept her hand on the joystick, guiding the chopper at full speed — racing towards the north. He can see some weather ahead — a spot of darkness like a cloudbank or a storm, right where they are going.
Then the helicopter shudders. Metal creaks, and (Y/n) can almost imagine the tapping was Morse code: Not the end. Not the end.
She levels out the chopper, and the creaking stops. She’s just hearing things.
“I think we’re about thirty minutes out,” (Y/n) tells her friends. “If you want to get some rest, now’s a good time.”
. . .
Jason straps himself in the back of the helicopter and passes out almost immediately, but Piper and Leo stay wide-awake with (Y/n).
After a few minutes of awkward silence, Leo says, “Your dad’ll be fine, you know. Nobody’s gonna mess with him with that crazy goat around.
Piper glances over, and Leo is struck by how much she’d changed. Not just physically either. Her presence was stronger. She seemed more . . . here. At Wilderness School, she’d spent the semester trying to to be seen, hiding out in the back row of the classroom, the back of the bus, the corner of the lunchroom as far as possible from the loud kids. Now she would be impossible to miss. It doesn’t matter what she is wearing – you’d have to look at her.
“My dad,” she says thoughtfully. “Yeah, I know. I was thinking about Jason. I’m worried.”
Leo nods. The closer they get to the bank of dark clouds, the more Leo worries too. “He’s starting to remember. That’s got to make him a little edgy.”
“But what if . . . what if he’s a different person?” Piper says.
Leo had been having similar thoughts. If the Mist could affect their memories, could Jason’s whole personality be an illusion, too? If their friend isn’t their friend, and they are heading into a cursed mansion – a dangerous place for demigods – what would happen if Jason’s full memory comes back in the middle of a battle?
(Y/n) glances back at the sleeping Son of Zeus. “After all we’ve been through? I can’t see it. We’re a team. Jason can handle it.”
“How are you doing?” Piper asks, and Leo and Piper look at her.
“Okay,” (Y/n) replies truthfully. “Memories sort of coming back, though there are still some big gaps.” (Y/n) goes to say something else, but then they hit the storm clouds.
At first, (Y/n) thinks rocks are pelting the windshield. Then she realizes it’s sleet. Frost builds up around the edges of the glass, and slushy waves of ice blot out her view.
“An ice storm?” Piper shouts over the engine and the wind. “Is it supposed to be this cold in Sonoma?”
(Y/n) isn’t sure, but something about this storm seems conscious, malevolent – like it’s intentionally slamming them.
Jason wakes quickly. He crawls forward, grabbing Leo’s shoulder and one of the seats for balance. “We’ve got to be getting close.”
(Y/n) is too busy wrestling with the stick to reply. Suddenly, it isn’t so easy to drive the chopper – it’s movements turning sluggish and jerky. THe whole machine shudders in the icy wind. The helicopter probably hadn’t been prepped for cold-weather flying. The controls refuse to respond, and they start to lose altitude.
Below them, the ground is a dark quilt of trees and fog. The ridge of a hill looms in front of them and (Y/n) yanks the stick, just clearing the treetops.
“There!” Jason shouts.
A small valley opens up before them, with the murky shape of a building in the middle. Leo aims the helicopter straight for it. All around them are flashes of light that reminds (Y/n) of the tracer fire at Midas’s compound. Trees crackle and explode at the edge of the clearing, and a black and purple figure streaks in front of the windshield.
“Out!” (Y/n) orders. They leap from the helicopter and barely clear the rotors before a massive BOOM shake the ground, knocking (Y/n) off her feet and splattering ice all over her.
She gets up shakily and sees the completely flattened Bell 412 smoldering with purple flames.
Then the creature lands in front of her, its green eyes narrowed with hostility. The black dragon’s mouth opens and begins to glow. (Y/n) closes her eyes and raises her hand, turning her head away.
The dragon closes his mouth, and he tilts his head. Then he presses his head to (Y/n)’s hand. (Y/n) opens her eyes, and meets the dragon’s softened green gaze. He makes a sound like a cat purring, and he opens his mouth again, showing his toothless mouth.
“Toothless,” (Y/n) murmurs, scratching underneath the dragon’s chin.
“Jason! (Y/n)!” a girl’s voice calls.
Thalia appears from the fog, her parka caked with snow. Her bow is in her hand, and her quiver is almost empty. She runs towards them, but makes it only a few steps before a six-armed ogre – one of the Earthborn – bursts from the storm behind her, a raised club in each hand.
“Look out!” Leo yells, and Toothless lets out a rumble. The four demigods rush to help, but Thalia has it covered. She launches into a flip, notching an arrow as she pivots like gymnast and lands in a kneeling position. The ogre gets a silver arrow right between the eyes and melts into a pile of clay.
Thalia stands and retrieves, but the point had snapped off. “That was my last one.” She kicks the pile of clay resentfully. “Stupid ogre.” Then she sees the dragon looming over the demigods and draws a silver dagger.
“Wait!” (Y/n) says as Toothless rumbles again. “Toothless, meet Thalia. Thalia, meet Toothless.”
“You tamed a Night Fury?” Thaila looks impressed, and then she hugs Jason and (Y/n), and nods to Piper. “Just in time. My Hunters are holding a perimeter around the mansion, but we’ll be overrun any minute.”
“By Earthborn?” Jason asks.
“And wolves — Lycaon’s minions.” Thalia blows a fleck of ice off her nose. “Also storm spirits —”
“But we gave them to Aeolus!” Piper protests.
“Who tried to kill us,” Leo reminds her. “Maybe he’s helping Gaea again.”
“I don’t know,” Thalia says. “But the monsters keep re-forming almost as fast as we can kill them. We took the Wolf House with no problem: surprised the guards and sent them straight to Tartarus. But then this freak snowstorm blew in. Wave after wave of monsters started attacking. Now we’re surrounded. I don’t know who or what is leading the assault, but I think they planned this. It was a trap to kill anyone who tried to rescue Hera.”
“Where is she?” Jason asked.
“Inside,” Thalia says. “We tried to free her, but we can’t figure out how to break the cage. It’s only a few minutes until the sun goes down. Hera thinks that’s the moment when Porphyrion will be reborn. Plus, most monsters are stronger at night. If we don’t free Hera soon —” She doesn’t need to finish the thought.
Leo, Jason, (Y/n) and Piper follow Thalia into the ruined mansion, Toothless trotting along behind.
Jason steps over the threshold and immediately collapses, falling back onto the Night Fury.
“Hey!” Leo exclaims. “None of that, man. What’s wrong?”
“This place . . .” Jason shakes his head. “Sorry . . . It came rushing back to me.”
“So you have been here,” Piper says.
“We both have,” Thalia replies. Her expression is grim, like she’s reliving someone’s death. “This is where my mom took us when Jason was a child. She left him here, told me he was dead. He just disappeared.”
“She gave me to the wolves,” Jason murmurs. “At Hera’s insistence. She gave me to Lupa.”
“That part I didn’t know.” Thalia frowns. “Who is Lupa?”
An explosion shakes the building. Just outside, a blue mushroom cloud billows up, raining snowflakes and ice like a nuclear blast made of cold instead of heat.
“Maybe this isn’t the time for questions,” Leo suggests. “Show us the goddess.”
Once inside, Jason seems to get his bearings. The house is built in a giant U, and Jason leads them between the two wings to an outside courtyard with an empty reflecting pool. At the bottom of the pool, just as Jason had described from his dream, two spires of rock and root tendrils had cracked through the foundation.
One of the spires is much bigger — a solid dark mass about twenty feet high, and to (Y/n) it looks like a stone body bag. Underneath the mass of fused tendrils she can make out the shape of a head, wide shoulders, a massive chest and arms, like the creature is stuck waist deep in the earth. No, not stuck — rising.
On the opposite end of the pool, the other spire is smaller and more loosely woven. Each tendril is as thick as a telephone pole, with so little space between them that Leo doubts he could’ve gotten his arm through. Still, he can see inside. And in the center of the cage stands Tia Callida.
She looks exactly like Leo remembers: dark hair covered with a shawl, the black dress of a widow, a wrinkled face with glinting, scary eyes.
She doesn’t glow or radiate any sort of power. She looks like a regular mortal woman, his good old psychotic babysitter.
(Y/n) drops into the pool and approaches the cage. “Hera, you in a little bit of trouble?”
Hera crosses her arms and sighs in exasperation. “Don’t you dare talk to me that way, Jackson. Get me out of here!”
“My brother soloed Ares, maybe I should whoop your ass, too,” (Y/n) replies.
Thalia steps next to him and looks at the cage with distaste — or maybe she is looking at the goddess. “We tried everything we could think of, but maybe my heart wasn’t in it. If it was up to me, I’d just leave her in there.”
“Ohh, Thalia Grace,” the goddess says. “When I get out of here, you’ll be sorry you were ever born.”
“Save it!” Thalia snaps. “You’ve been nothing but a curse to every child of Zeus for ages. \bu sent a bunch of intestinally challenged cows after my friend Annabeth —”
“She was disrespectful!”
“Youu dropped a statue on my legs.”
“It was an accident!”
“Bullshit!” (Y/n) replies.
“And you took my brother!” Thalia’s voice cracks with emotion. “Here — on this spot. You ruined our lives. We should leave you to Gaea!”
“Hey,” Jason intervenes. “Thalia — Sis — I know. But this isn’t the time. You should help your Hunters.”
Thalia clenches her jaw. “Fine. For you, Jason. But if you ask me, she isn’t worth it.” Thalia turns, leaps out of the pool, and storms from the building.
Leo turns to Hera with grudging respect. “Intestinally challenged cows?”
“Focus on the cage, Leo,” she grumbles. “And Jason — you are wiser than your sister. I chose my champion well.”
“I’m not your champion, lady,” Jason says. “I’m only helping you because you stole my memories and you're better than the alternative. Speaking of which, what’s going on with that?” He nods to the other spire that looks like the king-size granite body bag. Was (Y/n) imagining it, or had it grown taller since they’d gotten here?
“That, Jason,” Hera says, “is the king of the giants being reborn.”
“Gross,” Piper comments.
“Indeed,” Hera agrees. “Porphyrion, the strongest of his kind. Gaea needed a great deal of power to raise him again — my power. For weeks I’ve grown weaker as my essence was used to grow him a new form.”
“So you’re like a heat lamp,” Leo guesses.
“Or fertilizer,” (Y/n) grins.
The goddess glares at them. “Joke all you wish,” Hera says in a clipped tone. “But at sundown, it will be too late. The giant will awake. He will offer me a choice: marry him, or be consumed by the earth. And I cannot marry him. We will all be destroyed. And as we die, Gaea will awaken.”
Leo frowns at the giant’s spire. “Can’t we blow it up or something?”
“Without me, you do not have the power,” Hera says. “You might as well try to destroy a mountain.”
“Done that once today,” Jason replies.
“Just hurry up and let me out!” Hera demands.
Jason scratches his head. “Leo, can you do it?”
“I don’t know.” Leo tries not to panic. “Besides, if she’s a goddess, why hasn’t she busted herself out?”
Hera paces furiously around her cage, cursing in Ancient Greek. “Use your brain, Leo Valdez. I picked you because you’re intelligent. Once trapped, a god’s power is useless. Your own father trapped me once in a golden chair. It was humiliating! I had to beg — beg him for my freedom and apologize for throwing him off Olympus.”
“Sounds fair,” Leo says.
Hera movies him the godly stink-eye. “I’ve watched you since you were a child, son of Hephaestus, because I knew you could aid me at this moment. If anyone can find a way to destroy this abomination, it is you.”
“But it’s not a machine. It’s like Gaea thrust her hand out of the ground and . . .” Leo feels dizzy. The line of their prophecy comes back to him: The forge and dove shall break the cage.“Hold on. I do have an idea. Piper, I’m going to need your help. And we’re going to need time.”
The air turns brittle with cold. The temperature drop so fast, Leo’s lips crack and his breath changes to mist. Frost coats the walls of the Wolf House. Venti rush in — but instead of winged men, these are shaped like horses, with dark storm-cloud bodies and manes that crackle with lightning. Some have silver arrows sticking out of their flanks. Behind them came red-eyed wolves and the six-armed Earthborn.
Piper draws her dagger. Jason grabs an ice-covered plank off the pool floor. (Y/n) summons Tsunami; Leo reaches into his tool belt, but he is so shaken up, all he produces is a tin of breath mints. He shoves them back in, hoping nobody had noticed, and draws a hammer instead.
One of the wolves pads forward. It is dragging a human-size statue by the leg. At the edge of the pool, the wolf opens its maw and drops the statue for them to see — an ice sculpture of a girl, an archer with short spiky hair and a surprised look on her face.
“Thalia!” Jason rushes forward, but Piper and Leo pull him back. The ground around Thalia’s statue was already webbed with ice. Leo fears if Jason touched her, he might freeze too.
“Who did this?” Jason yells. His body crackled with electricity. “I’ll kill you myself!”
From somewhere behind the monsters, Leo hears a girl’s laughter, clear and cold. She steps out of the mist in her snowy white dress, a silver crown atop her long black hair. She regards them with those deep brown eyes Leo had thought were so beautiful in Quebec.

Jason Grace ⚡️
I think the reason am so excited now for the Percy Jack and the Chalice of the gods, is I think it seems like it a chance to experience Percy Jackson in the moment. I been in the fandom for a bit, even tho it seems like it just me in my little corner when the books come out. But I got into them when the Apollo trials were being released. And this is the first time for me me a book is going to come out that has Percy as a main character. So my brain is just making it randomly special. Last minute I decided I wanted to post something, and I have the 7 made plus two mystery people, so I decided to post one of them and I thought what better why to celebrate then with a joke. As aren’t you wondering where’s percy?’
I do love Jason, he deserved to have lived. It why he lives in my headcannons
Hazel
Percy & Annabeth
Nico & Will (tsats spoilers)
Leo
Many Jason headcannons below as I love headcannons and love sharing them.
[ID: The picture is a felt doll that is the shape of a gingerbread men with a big circle head he is Jason Grace from Percy Jackson. He have light skin felt, blond short hair, Gold rim glass, and a little scar where a mouth would’ve be. He have on a yellow shirt, tan jacket, that have a purple, orange, and yellow bead for pins. He in light blue jeans that are cuffed, and a chain hanging on his right side. He in black converse like shoes. He have a bracelet on this right that is a braid of purple, blue, and black. And another that is an asexual color one, black, grey, white, purple. He have a camp half blood necklace with a purple and a yellow bead. And he have a white round bead that is supposed to be a stand in for a moon theme necklace.:ID]
Jason headcannons
Surviving
Either Hera was watching and was mad that Zeus’s punishment for Apollo would get her champion killed and give Apollo some of his healing powers or saved Jason from the killing blow. Kinda to also show the gods can be cruel but also kind. Or Artemis save him as she save Apollo and Jason is also like a brother as Thalia convince her. It also as he had plans to build the temples so maybe one of the minor god healed him as he maybe for Storm to fall, Jason just need to let go and fall a get high. Lol like god level trust fall.
Pants
Jason had a hard time trying to find pants that would fit and when he finally found pant that fit his waist they were too long in the leg. He was going to hem them but he keep forgetting so he just cuff them and Will sees and ask Nico about it and Nico is like should I tell him- no this is funny. And it just Jason doing a ton of bi things without knowing
the chain, Nico and Jason do activities together as they both have memories parts, and Nico take it upon himself as a favor for Thaila, to show him the way of being a punk. Just imagine the first day of this, Nico just clip the chain to his pants and he just “look at you, already looking the part” and the black shoes are a part of this. Thinking he may try to paint lights bolts on them or something.
Jacket
power wise with Jason’s flight a aviator jacket is better for him when flighting but he doesn’t want to copy Nico’s look in case it upset him (it won’t, Nico would just tease him about it) but so he gets this coat and Nico end up teasing him as it an old man jacket and Jason tease back saying if course Nico knows this as he is an old man. (When trying to find a reference picture i didn’t know what this jacket was calls and so typed old man jackets and it popped up
Pins I kinda can’t remember as I forgot to note it down, but I think it the two camps, and some random lighting pin Nico, or Leo found, or they can just be pins the 7 found that made them think of Jason so he have something that reminds him that he is someone.
Bracelets
Going with Nico’s adventure with the Apollo bracelet making. He makes Jason and Percy matching bug 3 bl as they always joke they are brothers and just Nico leaving them in their cabins as he doesn’t want to make a scene, but Jason and Percy find one of them in cabin 1 when Percy was hanging out together and they are like wait and run to cabin 3 to find Percy’s and they put them on and go run over to find Nico and they make a big fus about Nico does love them and Nico is like no thr purl for heazl, black is for him and he likes the color blue but they just ruffles his hair.
And he have a ace bracelet from Nico too. He the first to get a pride bracelet from Nico and he help Nico put on his as he helped him get to this place where he could be proud so Nico wanted him to tie it as like a sign of trust.
Asexual
I feel like a headcannon a lot of Percy Jackson characters as ace but we deserve it. As also like sex repulsedace son of Jupiter/ Zeus kinda funny in my book. Like Dad is basically known for hooking up and Jason is like nope. Him and Nico being two confused aces together as like Nico trying to explain it to him and Jason like isn’t that how everyone feels? And once Nico knows what he feeling has a name, he runs to Jason to tell him too.
I headcannon Artemis lets any gender join the hunter they just have to sworn off sex and be loyal to her (if you like that took then look up the myth of hippolytus by Overly Sarcastic Productions. I love that channel too!). And each time the hunters visit campus they ask if anyone want to join. One time when they come around when Nico and Will got together, before Nico tells Thalia about them, she ask if he wants to join as she thought he still didn’t feel like he has a place and he like no I think if found a place with the help of Will, Jason, and everyone here. and then she also asked Jason if he want to join them. and he thought about it for a moment and realized he already been through a lot, does he really want an immoral life of it, and what sold him on not joining is he happens to looked over to where Nico was watching him and he saw Nico’s worry eyes, a look basically pleading him not to go. And that night Jason and Nico have a sleepover in the hades cabin, with Nico may or may not having saying that he wants Jason to be his brother and he will be his brother in return.
The necklace is also like a thing for Artemis/Diana (for if she the one who save him), the hunt/his sister, and ace pride. I feel in his look for his identity, finally realizing one part of himself that makes him him, he would just be happy about it, and full embrace it.
Random
Him and Percy dare each other to do stupid things like when Jason meet a new camp just hit himself with lightning and act as if nothing happens
Am going to add another headcannon here as I like it and I need it.
Being hit in the head
Jason with actual brain damage from all his concussion . I want him with a TBI, him having memory problems, having a harder time spelling and reading. As someone with a TBI I want a character with a brain injury that isn’t a vegetable, who just get angered every 10 minutes or just walks it off. Him talking with Will/Chiron about concussions and stuff and him being a bit worried about hitting his head again, him and Nico talking about memory issues. Give him a bit of a speech impediment or sensitive to lights and sounds. Jason and Nico hanging out in the dark hades cabin when they have migraine days. Jason asking Will for help for a talk to the camp about being cautious about any type of brain injury. As the brain is important and weird and it can behave differently for everyone, and healing magic can’t heal it completely, so they need to be careful.

Hiiiiii!!
I saw you mentioned my art piece I made for Even Dead, he Proves me Wrong! for that question about fan art pieces you like (or something along those lines) and I will say I am HONORED that you still love that piece!!
I did realize that I just drew them all as they are in the show which got me quickly thinking, how did their appearances change? I know it’s all post movie so I’m really curious! Do they have scars? What’s up with Raph’s eye after being Krangified? Or did their appearance change at all? Oh! plus do you have any general headcanons on their appearances?
I’m sure you’ve answered most of these in the fic itself but I don’t wanna search through that lol
Anyway you don’t need to answer any/all of the questions and I hope you have a fantabulous day! ^-^
(Ps. I just read the little summary of the fic and immediately remembered how great your writing is!!!!)
HI!!! And yes that was exactly the context for the question. I really love it! Thank you so much for making it!
There is actually a part in the story that goes over the differences everyone faced after the kraang attack. :D
"[Leo] studied his brothers more closely than he had ever done before. How had he never noticed the slight freckling across his big brother's cheeks? Or was that just something he forgot? What about the little white lines that webbed up his littlest brother's arms- those had to be new, right? … And was Raph's right eye always that cloudy?… no… no that was definitely new. He wouldn’t have forgotten that. "
So, Mikey has very defined white scars criss crossing down his arms. Raph and Donnie have them too but they are MUCH lighter. (you would need to be up close to see them) and Raph does have vision loss the eye that got kraangified.
Also, I headcanon Raph with freckles in all my AUs... because.. uhh honestly no idea.
(ps. AWWWWW oh my gosh.... thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Rereading it now I am still really proud of some parts- annnnd other parts could definitely be written a little better, but I am so glad that you liked it!!)

Cyberspace world explanation!
I just realized I haven't explained anything about the world.
My TMNT iteration, TMNT:Cyberspace, takes place in the year 2061. The world is a lot more modern, but still has remanence of the "old world". Aliens have started coming down to Earth. Mostly for tourism, but some to live, which has sparked anger through out the Earth, and there's a lot of debate on how people feel about it. Robots are still a little side eyed in the street, some saying they aren't really conscious, some saying they are conscious enough to be considered alive. There has been a lot of new experimentation with genetic modification over the years, which has also sparked debate.
With the rapidly changing world, there is a lot of debate and fights breaking out. To combat this, the government has introduces something called "Social Chips." (Based off The Last Ronin lost years) These are used as a form of currency. If you follow the strict and unfair rules, or do something good unless the government doesn't like those people. Which has mostly fixed the problem!
Though, for the people who can't get social chips as easily, there is an underground market (like, literally underground. But also underground in the other way.) that instead of using social chips, trades goods for other goods. To try and stop this, the government has been really strict with their allowance of "unauthorize farming or creation", which has not only caused the amount of art being created to go way down, but has also just made MORE underground projects with farms and other things.
Also, back to the aliens bit. Kraang! Kraang have been working with Shredder for years, and they're friends no. Frenemies. Or... more like just enemies that have to work together. They are basically just 1987 Shredder and Krang dynamic but a little more serious. I just think their silly.
And while we're on the topic of Shredder, I'll try not to spoil too much, but lets just say Splinter and Shredder have an interesting past.. (no, they we're not dating if that's what you thought... maybe I'm the only one who thought you thought that.) they used to be close friends, but something (cough cough, wifey, cough) came between them and after Splinter got mutated he turned Splinter's dojo into a cult, and renamed it. (I think you can guess what he named it to.)
And finally, about the turtles, they used to be experiments, so don't mind the scars :) (Especially on their necks... except Leo's. You'll see an explanation why he doesn't have neck scars in the comic.)
If you got this far, heres a sneak peek at the first frame of my comic!:
I'm doing a part color for the whole comic, btw. This panel alone too about 2 hours, so you can see why lol. Also I forgot their weapons but I'll turn that into meeting April. Or, the turtles already knew her, YOU meeting April. I hope you guys will like her, cause Casey and her are literally soul sibling.

scar/mark headcanons bc. why not
natsu has more than the neck and face scars
theres a starburst scar on his right shoulder thats mostly covered by his mark and is almost the same color as his skin. he didnt remember how he got it. during alvarez he learned it was caused by a roar basically right outside the wall he was leaning against
his left ankle has odd blob scars all over it bc of the forest vulcan that grabbed him during happys egg thing. the vulcan broke some bones before gildarts came over and they pierced the skin
the scar on natsus neck is noticeably a lighter color than his skin
the scar on his face is unnaturally darker, like it was tinted with a pure black instead of trying to match his skin tone
wendys first dragon force gave her markings in the exact outlines of the scales that appeared all over her body. theyre not scars but theyre definitely not birthmarks n whatnot
all of gajeels piercings that he got before the eclipse scarred. he just puts bigger jewelry in them to hide the edges. every piercing he got after the eclipse and, for whatever reason, let close left a beauty mark
after calling the celestial spirit king lucy got All of the constellations as freckles somewhere on her body
yes All Of Them
some that havent even been discovered. some that will never be discovered again
the biggest ones are cancer, on her upper left arm, aquarius, on her stomach, taurus, on her back, and leo, on her right cheek and neck
she was confused why virgo and sagittarius werent that big and the response she got was ‘they didnt have too big of an impact on you as a celestial mage’. she did not like that answer
makarov has a lot of scars. enough so that he forgot where most of them came from. even laxus is still learning where some came from
speaking of laxus. his lightning scar is only Like That before he figured out dragon force. then it became like proper lightning and is only really visibly when talking face to face but then its very visible
evergreen has a dark birthmark under her own guild mark
when bickslow is using his figure eyes magic the mark on his face starts moving and changing until it matches who the magic is targeted on
even though it wasnt burned into her skin, the phantom lord mark is still faintly on levys stomach. she never wears crop tops
juvia has a scar on her forehead from where a kid threw a rock at her back when she couldnt control the rain. gray makes sure to kiss it whenever he can
lyon has a matching scar opposite the one gray got on galuna
even though he couldnt die zeref could scar. im sure you can imagine how many scars a suicidal immortal could possibly have
erza has many scars both from the tower and from quests but she had one specific one on her stomach that she had no clue where it came from. it was irene. she couldnt implant herself onto erza and tried to kill her, but the guilt quickly set in and she healed her before putting her at that village
#i was gonna make this more clothing-based but then scars happened and i said eh why not just all bodily markings#Fairy Tail#Fairy Tail Headcanons#Natsu Dragneel#Lucy Heartfilia#Wendy Marvell#Gajeel Redfox#Levy McGarden#Juvia Lockser#Lyon Vastia#Fairy Tail Evergreen#Fairy Tail Bickslow#Makarov Dreyar#Laxus Dreyar#Erza Scarlet#Zeref Dragneel

Sailor Regulus
╔═════ ∘◦⛧ミ◦∘ ══════╗
Seishin Wantanabe / Sailor Regulus
╚═════ ∘◦ ミ⛧ ◦∘ ═════╝
:Mission:
Seishin was just an ordinary kid going to Mugan Academy. She’s trying to get to grips with highschool bullies, algebra and how to wear a skirt when suddenly a mysterious force wants her dead.
Turns out she’s Sailor Regulus, reincarnation of a warrior princess and last of the Leo’s Alliance. Fortunately she has the Inners to teach her, and she’ll need all the help she can get. Her forefathers protected the mysterious Infinite Lion Armor but one by one they were struck down by the brutal legionnaire Alcides, and he will not let some puny princess stand between him and immortality.
╔═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╗
Civilian Form
╚═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╝
:Name & Meaning:
Although he was born with the name Yurei, meaning ‘ghost’, it began to fit less and less until highschool was a chance to reinvent herself. She chose the name Seishin, a feminine name meaning ‘spirit’. Her surname Wantanabe means ‘transition’ or ‘to cross’ .
:Age & Birthday:
Born on the 2nd of August, she’s fifteen and a Leo.
:Appearance:
Seishin stands quite tall for her age at 5’6 with a lanky figure she tries to hide behind various fashions. She’s always felt more comfortable with long hair, letting it fall in a silky veil to her waist with a brushed fringe and two long ribbons framing her face. Her eyes are a sapphire blue and her skin is slightly tanned with a long scar running down her right shoulder blade, red and raised and of unknown origin.
Although she’s still exploring her tastes, Seishin chooses cute and spunky fashion. She loves to accessorise with gloves and belts and colourful kerchiefs! Her jewellery box is filled with necklaces and dangling earrings. She is especially drawn to glittering, cut stones which she brings out at every chance.
:Nationality
It means that although she’s practically an adult she has to relearn everything. She’s nearly fluent in the language but her knowledge of manners and customs still requires polish.
:Personality:
On top of transitioning to a female, moving to a new country and joining a new school, Seishin learns she’s a star princess sworn to fight evil. All these alien experiences have made her desperate to fit in and somewhat gullible, but it also makes her much more empathetic to the adversity of others. Her loyalty to those who support her is unwavering and her trust in them unshakable. She’s sensitive, easily distracted and her sensitivity to the opinions of others means she may suddenly need space and quiet to reassure herself.
This need to please makes Regulus a strong fighter and she doesn’t want to let her new teammates down. She idolises Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus as protectors both strong and feminine. She wants to impress them but as an amateur senshi she's still learning the tricks of the trade and harnessing her own growing powers. When she gets too excited her powers are prone to friendly fire which is so embarrassing! She wants them to know that she can protect them too and be a guardian senshi in her own right so she’ll try to track down her crown on her own.
:Likes:
English essays, Fridays, winter, thunderstorms, fish and chips and apple juice.
:Dislikes:
Snakes and spiders. She once had a bad experience with a huntsman and never forgot it.
:School:
Seishin is in the tenth grade of Mugan Academy because of her father’s connections. She has inherited his love of computers, but her favourite class is Japanese where she can explore the poetry and literature of her new home. She also appreciates history as she finds the stories useful for her writing. She’s also very athletic and was recruited for Mugan’s basketball team and slam dunks like a pro.
:Hobbies:
Since transitioning she’s been developing her own look. She loves thrifting and trying new styles, from retro to loli to visual kei! Every day and every shop is filled with possibilities! She enjoys escapism, whether it is through her videogames or her creative writing. She loves to disappear inside her own worlds of magic and aliens and alternate dimensions. Little did she know she’d get first hand experience.
:Family:
Seishin’s family has always been open and understanding, so the decision to come out was welcomed with her parent’s support.
Her father Makuri (to do something too much) Wantanabe is an exceptional computer programmer and businessman but also loving and supportive of his family. He thought nothing of following his wife Callwen- who took the name Hinaki (bright) when she immigrated back to her Tokyo. She is kind and accepting and has tried to pass on these virtues to her two daughters.
Unfortunately it hasn’t worked. Seishin’s older sister Akuru (black jewel) resents leaving London. Despite her innocent face she has become cruel, taking her frustrations out on Seishin in violent and vindictive ways.
:Relationships:
:Akira Saito:
Akira is a girl that enjoys singing and drawing and has a challenging history with personal demons, but through singing and drawing, she finds her escape from the world. For a while, they made themselves feel like all would be okay. She's also grown very fond of Seishin. The kindness she shows is very much needed, and in return, she loves having Seishin as a model for her. Yet one drawing from before she met Seishin is too eerily close to a vision she's seen.
:Chiyo Bushida:
Chiyo is a girl from a family that prides itself on honesty, integrity and hard work, coming from a family line that started from next to nothing, constantly swearing to keep remembering the values told by their great grandparents. She enjoys physical activities during the sports curriculums, especially full-contact sports that require physical strength and skill. They have grown close to each other with a friendly rivalry on the basketball court.
:Alexa Williams:
An American transfer student is also new to the school and refuses to accept the traditions compared to what she's used to in the States. She’s snobbish and thinks highly of only herself and her family. Due to this, she thinks everyone is a worm compared to her. She firmly believes in tradition and dislikes… Deviations. Seishin has become a favourite target because she knows something is off with that girl. Something is unnatural in how she carries herself and how she walks. She will expose it to the whole world and show everyone what a weirdo she truly is!
:Sexual Orientation:
Seishin is still figuring it out, finding a few guys and girls in her class that she's finding herself pulled towards, though she's rather obvious to queues and hints dropped by friends and the people she's been speaking wit. But out of all the people she's met there's a certain blunette who is clever and adorable.

Sailor Regulus
╚═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╝
:Name:
Sailor Regulus
:Guardian Starseed:
She holds the starseed for the only large planetary body in the Regulus system which takes its name from its star. It is a dry planet, prone to boom and bust seasons, covered by various arid biomes and mysteriously pure wellsprings.
There are labyrinthine red sand dunes that tower and shift in cool breezes. And vast salt pans claimed by ancient bequeathed by transitory seas, landlocked places of death and hopelessness. The creatures that live there are strange, opportunistic scavengers.
Much of its population is nomadic, and palm groves sprouting from river wadis provide respite along migration routes but it is the permanent oasis that are the jewels of civilization. Lying above boundless aquifers, they grow plants like apricots, dates, figs, and olives. Their markets weave brightly woven cotton and trade lustrous opal, tanzanite, garnet, emerald and diamond.
:Realm of Influence:
Much of her powers come from her totem symbol, the lion. It represents family, courage and protection.
:Past Life:
In the depths of space, many aeons ago was King Nemea, the Lion Majesty. He was rumoured to be immortal due to his impenetrable armour and powerful weapons. He would fight the agents of Chaos, shining as a beacon of hope as golden as the sun.
He doted on his five daughters and he vowed he would always protect them. When they were married he gave each of them an heirloom to pass down through the generations. Denebola his breastplate, Subra his pauldrons, Chort his cuirass, Zosma his girdle, Algieba his greaves and Regulus his crown to unite them. Time passed and history vanished into legend.
Until one day a ferociously cruel mercenary named Alcides consulted the Oracle of Ophiuchus; The Pythoness. He yearned for immortality and she told him of the renowned armour of the Lion Majesty. He and his legionaries (Achilles, a powerful, arrogant warrior. Perseus, a brilliant strategist. Orpheus, an enchanting musician. And Aeneus, alluring beauty.) struck down each of the royal families of the Leo Alliance. With each fallen star he took their Artefact, bringing him closer to the all powerful, undying conqueror he knew was his destiny.
The King Othniel (Lion of Kings) and Queen Ariel (Lion of God) of Regulus knew of his approach and feared for their daughter. They used the Silver Millennium Cotillion as an excuse to smuggle Princess Leocadia (Splendid Brightness of the Lion) and her guard Sapphire out of the system, leaving behind her parents and sisters. There she was briefly introduced to Silver Queen Serenity, her daughter and the inner princesses who made her feel at home.
The peace was short-lived as the Moon Kingdom was struck down. Sailor Regulus was separated from the senshi and although she fought valiantly, she also lost her life. She was also reincarnated, although perhaps not as intended.
However Grand Regis Alcedes hasn’t given up. With five of the six artefacts he has only aged ten years of the one thousand , but it is ten years he will make the heir of Nemea regret. After years of searching he has finally found the key to life eternal and nothing. Will stand in his way.
:Allies/Team Mates:
Leo Senshi:
Long ago it was expected Sailor Regulus would replace her father as the guardian of Regulus when she came of age and part of that responsibility would be leading the senshi of the Leo Alliance.
In his quest for the Artefacts, it is thought that the Great King Alcedes killed them and their starseeds returned to the Galaxy Cauldron. It is unknown if they have reincarnated but likely they would be drawn to the remaining heir.
Sailor Denebola - MIA
Sailor Subra - MIA
Sailor Chort - MIA
Sailor Zosma - MIA
Sailor Algieba - MIA
Inners:
Although only a year younger than the Inners, Regulus is the baby of the senshi still finding her feet. Venus is a wonderful leader and teacher, as is Artemis. Together they patrol the night searching for leads. However she feels herself warm and flustered as she gets to know Sailor Mercury.
Spirit Guide:
When King Othniel sent his daughter to the Silver Millennium Cotillion he sent her personal guard, Captain Saphira with her. She died defending Princess Leocadia and when she was reincarnated on Earth she vowed she would never fail her again.
Captain Saphira belongs to the planet Hund, a species like the Mauese have the ability to switch between canine and human form. They are well appreciated across the galaxy for their loyalty and determination. Captain Saphira’s canine form bears a striking resemblance to Earth’s golden retrievers. Unfortunately since reincarnating she hasn’t been able to transform back into her human form.
Saphira has a sisterly protection of Seishin, and is often all that stands between her and Akura’s bullying.
Know your enemy, know your enemy and you know the key to victory. She spends a lot of time with Sailor Mercury researching Alcedes past conquests to fortify their team for the coming fight. She believes in preparation and cringes at Sailor Regulus’s rash behaviour in battle.
:Henshin Item:
Given to her in a flash of light by her bodyguard Saphira, she received the Ring of Regulus. Although she was expected to have her own transformation item forged when she came of age, there was no time. King Othniel pressed his own ring, that which transformed him into the warrior Lion Heart, into her palm as she left for the Silver Millenium.
It is a golden ring with a sapphire clenched in the jaws of a maned lion’s head. The sapphire is inscribed with the symbol of Leo. It’s a little loose but Seisen treasures it as a link to her past.
:Henshin Phrase:
Seishen reaches to the sky with her hand aloft and ring finger gleaming. She shouts "Leo! Regulus! Give me strength!"
Bright blue flames erupt from the sapphire, coalescing into the the form of a lion’s head behind her before dissolving in tongues of fire. They lick out, wrapping around her body to form her bodice and skirt. They tangle with her arms and legs to reveal her heels and gloves. Finally the head roars again, blowing her hair in turmoil and on her brow gleams her symbol before forming a teardrop shaped sapphire burning with an inner fire.
The sapphire flames whirling around her body recede back into the lion which bellows one more time as Sailor Regulus poses and prepares to attack.
:Symbol:
:Guardian Challenge:
“Arising for the fires of battle, I am the lion hearted Sailor Regulus and with pride I’ll protect! Surrender now or face my wrath!”
:Guardian Fuku:
Sailor Regulus is wilder than her civilian counterpart. Her body is distinctly feminine, with breasts and flaring hips. Her silky hair is long and unruly, an untamed mane that flies around her in battle. Her scruffy fringe hides that she doesn’t have a tiara, but a teardrop shaped sapphire between her eyes that glows and flashes as she becomes more emotional.
With white signalling calm and cool, blue signalifying feelings of sorrow, pink flustered, red overwhelming rage and black.
Her sailor colour is midnight blue with gold and white trim in a lattice edge. Her bodice is two layered, black with wite over, trimmed in gold with golden hip guards. Her skirt is also two layered, pleated white with an overlay of midnight blue, lighter and more flowing. Her blueblack gloves have metallic rings with tufted white fur. She wears white open toed sandals just over her ankles.
:Weapon:
Her ancestral weapon is the Lion Rampant, a urumi or whipsword that would lash like claws.
:Attacks:
Regulus Roaring Rush
Regulus crosses her arms across her chest before flinging them wide with a guttural scream. Behind her the majestic maned lion head lets out a deafening roar, stunning the enemy and sending them flying in furious winds.
Regulus Claw Crush
Regulus swipes her claw like fingers through the air and spectral claws maul the enemy again and again.
Regulus Lion’s Pride
Regulus stands tall, her body beginning to glow as one by one five giant phantasmic lions begin to burn with silver auras. With the final word they lunge to destroy the enemy.

Hi! I saw requests are open and you write for oc’s so could you do Jason x my OC Isabella?
He calls her Isa and Bella for short and I’ll attach some images of her. She’s one of Apollo’s eldest kids so she’s a head counselor and she loves the Odyssey. She seems airheaded but is fairly smart if the subject interests her she can remember a lot. She’s super nice to everyone and loves her siblings. She’s a very warm and welcoming person.
Plot wise I was thinking just something fluffy and simple like them going on a date. If you need any more info or have any questions please feel free to let me know.
i had sooo much fun writing this!! it’s my first time writing a character x OC and absolutely loved being able to write something about someone’s character. hope you enjoy 🫶🫶
The concrete is hard against Isabella’s back; the seating in the amphitheater isn’t her preferred spot to lay down after lunch, but it is the quietest spot away from everyone else. The day has been harder than usual – her siblings were even more mischievous this morning, the sky was too cloud-filled and stormy looking for the sun to be out, and archery lessons were far too chaotic. She was tired and grateful not to have anything on her schedule, even if that was odd.
She lays down for a while on her back on one of the long benches at the amphitheater, soaking in what little sunlight peeks through the clouds. This is the one place where she can feel close to her father while also being alone. Isabella thinks of how grateful she is for the day regardless of the sour taste it’s left in her mouth; it reminds her to love the great days even more. She thinks of Piper’s laughter, how melodic and big it is. Of Annabeth’s joy in talking about Odysseus, her mother’s trainee, and how Percy is always there watching her like there’s no one else in the world. She thinks of Hazel’s hugs, Frank’s kindness in listening to anything she says, and Leo’s constant desire to be a third wheel with her and Jason. Oh, Crap!
“I thought I might find you here,” she shoots up at her boyfriend’s voice. She can’t help but smile at the blush on his cheeks as he takes her in. She’s sure the rosiness is returned; he’s wearing a maroon hoodie and his grin is wide across his face. “Did you forget?”
“I may have forgotten,” she confesses sheepishly. She takes his outstretched hand, and he pulls her up into a hug. “I’m sorry.”
“No need to be sorry, Isa. I heard from Frank that he thought you were going to kill the Hephaestus cabin during archery lessons,” he explains, kissing the top of her head. He intertwines their hands and leads her in the direction of his cabin. This afternoon marks their monthly movie date and their one-year anniversary – which she forgot about. “And I hear Leo is to blame?”
“I couldn’t kill Leo. He would haunt us forever,” she jokes, and her boyfriend lets out a laugh. “He is to blame though. Not sure why he thought letting novice archers experiment with flaming arrows was a good idea. Frank and I tried our best to shut it down as fast as possible.”
“But not fast enough?”
“No,” she huffs, and he squeezes their fingers, “a Hermes kid may or may not be missing a chunk of hair thanks to…the fire.”
“Oh, my Gods! I’m surprised you and Frank didn’t kill Leo”
“I know!”
When they make it to the Zeus cabin, her smile grows at the projector laid out on the ground with a picnic blanket, snacks, diet cokes, and a brown paper-wrapped box. “Do you like it?”
“Jason, I love it!” She exclaims and wraps her arms around his neck. Her eyes flit from the scar on his lip to his own eyes, and she can’t help but kiss him. It’s short and sweet, an appreciative gesture for being a perfect boyfriend. She loves kissing him, she loves feeling him relax against her, and knowing that he knows he can wholly be himself around her. That he can let down his guard and no longer be a forbidden kid, no longer be looked down on, yet equally desired in your shared world that uses him for his parentage. “Even if it means you snuck soda from Mr. D’s stash.”
“For the record, it was Connor who stole the sodas,” he grins, giving her a chaste kiss before pulling her down onto the blanket with him. She giggles, laying against him and allowing him to wrap his arms around her.
He starts the movie, one that was also acquired from Connor, which was some new and upcoming rom-com. Who knew Connor Stoll was such a romantic? (Isabella did, she and most of the other kids their age had seen him cry at The Notebook). “So, I have to ask…what’s in the box?”
“A gift,” Jason says nonchalantly and she groans, “you’re so impatient!”
“The box is practically staring me in the face.”
“And dramatic!” He teases, pressing kisses to the side of her face.
“Yours is back in my cabin, by the way.”
“You got me a present?”
“You’re surprised?”
“A little,” he shrugs, and sadness fills her chest. She wishes she could prove to Jason that he deserves more than he expects. She wishes he knew just how much he is loved, wanted, and needed by her and their friends. “Do you want to open yours now?”
Isabella vigorously nods, and she feels Jason’s body shake with boisterous laughter. Her cheeks heat at the knowledge of how sudden the happiness radiating off of him is. He hands her the wrapped package, and she slowly unwraps the ribbon before digging into the paper. It’s a grey-stained leather book; one that looks worn but she can tell is new by the stiffness of the leather and crisp pages as she runs her thumb over them. The front is blank, but when she opens it the first page has one word: Odýsseia. Her jaw drops and she looks at Jason with teary eyes. “You did not!”
“I did,” he nods, a little laugh escaping from him. “Your copy of the Odyssey is so worn out and I know that you can barely read it in English anyways. I’ve been working with Chiron every day for an hour or so with help copying his original version in Ancient Greek.”
“Oh, Gods,” Isabella sets the book down and crawls into Jason’s lap so she can wrap her arms and legs around him. She wants him as close as possible, her grip around him tightening. A few sniffles escape her, and his grip tightens too. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too, Bella.”

Obrumbratio Scintillae
Chapter 2
Tw: Cringe Man's POV
"Master Kronos, they're just kids. They're hurt, sick."
We'll let them heal and train them to fight like warriors.
"That doesn't make us any better than the Gods, we-"
DON'T YOU DARE COMPARE ME TO THOSE IMBECILES!!! Kronos yelled, the ground shaking. Luke wasn't phased at all.
You aren't any better either. You used those girls and their little friend. These kids are powerful. We do what needs to be done. Do you understand? Luke thought he did. It was the same situation as the Percy kid, so why did it feel wrong? He shook his head. Kronos was right. Besides, the training takes years. They won't go into actual battle until they're way older.
"I understand. I apologize for my incompetence. They'll turn out great."
-------------
When Nico woke up, his first thought was fire. Fire, he saw fire. And Leo. Leo.
"Leo!" He yelled, sitting up quickly, which only caused his head to swim and his stomach to churn. He leaned over the bed and puked on the floor. He regretted it a minute later but shook his head having more important things to worry about. He saw a cup of water on the desk next to him and drank it with shaking hands. He shook in pain and layed back down, his surroundings not familiar in the slightest.
Then he remembered someone carrying them. Are they in danger? Did they get kidnapped?! The questions made his head hurt more, tears falling so he made himself relax. When he was, he couldn't help himself and fell asleep.
-------
Leo woke up on a stiff matress, warm, comfy. Which made him confused. Warm? Comfy? He couldn't remember what happened. He sat up and got dizzy but shook it off and got over it quickly. Then it all came flooding back to him. Nico was dying. Fire. He had to use fire. Some blonde guy. Blue eyes. Scar. Name? Luke. Luke offered help. Leo was crying. Hysterical. Couldn't think. Agreed.
Mierda. He thought and stood up. He needed to find Nico. But he didn't want to alert anyone who might be here. He stood up slowly and froze when he looked around. He just now realized where he was. A tent. He started panicking.
Oh dear God, I shouldn't have trusted him. This is the start of like all True Crime stories, I need to find Nico. He thought sneaking out. He kept going towards the sounds of talking but stopped when he saw monsters. Tons of monsters just everywhere in the middle of the forest. There were people here and there, but he hid behind a tree anyway. Until, they transformed into a green lady who rolled her eyes and left, showing him to everyone - thing? - there.
"Shit."
--------
Nico felt much better the next time he woke up. So he got up and looked around. The throw up was cleaned up, and he felt anxious. Someone else was in here. He got out of the tent and closed the curtain, and shook his head. Monsters. Lots of monsters. He spent so much time out of camp that he forgot he was a demigod. Maybe he wanted to forget he was one completely.
He shook his head and took a breath to prepare himself. He just needed to sneak past them, find Leo, and escape. Simple. He took another breath and stuck his out, looking for a way to get past them. He sighed when he didn't see a way out and was about to go back in, but he spotted someone running past. A person. Curly hair. Leo. He smiled and ran after him the attention on him too now. He didn't care.
"Leo!" He yelled and he stopped and turned around. They hugged tightly, Leo digging his face into his shoulder.
"Nico, what's happening?"
"I-I don't... I don't know." Then someone touched Nicos shoulder, and he flinched and took out his sword.
"Stay back!" He yelled, and they all backed away.
"Hey! It's okay! It's me! Remember?"
"Luke?" Leo asked, and he nodded.
"Yeah... I brought you here to help you remember?" He asked, and he nodded.
"But-but what's happening, who-what-who are these people? Everyone... they said I was insane. Please tell me this is real." He cried and Nico grabbed his hand.
"Hey. Breathe. You're not crazy. This is real. Everyone who said you are are mortals. I don't... know if you're a demigod but I'm... one."
"A... demigod?"
"Half God, Half Mortal. Like me. Hermes."
"Hades."
"He's definitely a demigod." A monster said, and Leo sat down.
"How did you find out... who it was?"
"It's called claiming. A glowing symbol of the Gods signature will appear above your head." Luke explained and Leo covered his face.
"Are you... okay?" Nico asked, and Leo nodded.
"Just... need a minute."
"Let's go back to the tent I was in." He said, helping him up and walking away with him. They sat on the bed, and Leo broke down.
"I almost lost you." He cried, and Nico grabbed his hand, trying to hide his tears.
"It's okay now. I'm here." His voice cracked and they hugged and just held onto each other the rest of the night.

After lurking in the Rise fandom for the past 9 months, I'm FINALLY getting around to posting some art.
Humanized turtles to tide me over until I figure out how to actually draw turtles lol
+all of them together
++Some notes about their designs under the cut
I personally see them as blasian
I'm not the best at outfit design lol, but I tried to think of what accessories they'd have, eg. Raph and Leo's earrings and necklaces (and Donnie's pierced ears), Mikey's stickers from the show, Raph's beads (living vicariously through him), etc.
Also added Raph's braces from the show
Leo has port wine stains (which I forgot to add to his arms oops), Mikey has freckles, and Donnie has some acne scars
Raph has scabs around his mouth and arms bc I hc him as having dermatillomania/excoriation/skin picking disorder (I'm projecting onto my fav, more at 7)
Leo and Mikey def bleach and dye each other's hair
I also had a blast incorporating their signature shapes into the designs wherever I could (face nose and eye shape, etc)
These are a little old, and I'd like to draw more of them to get a full design down, but I just wanted to share a piece of my brainrot with this fandom, I have never been more obsessed with a piece of media as I am with Rise asdfghjkl

Fun fact: When I was little my parents bought a four disc set of the original TMNT Movies, the three of those, and then the 2007 TMNT. And for SOME REASON, little nine year old me was scarred for life after watching 2007. Keep in mind I had no knowledge whatsoever of the ninja turtles, I just thought the movies looked cool.
But 2007 shook me to the core, probably because Leo and Raph fought almost the whole time and Leo almost died, and my tiny brain didn't understand plot development and the whole "SUFFER FOR THE STORYLINE" concept.
And for years I just completely forgot about it.
Until my friend got me into TMNT like, six months ago, thank you @theressomanyfandomsineedtojoin
And ever since I joined the fandom there was this nagging thought in the back of my brain like "hey there's something you're repressing you should figure it out" and I'm like yeah that's about as helpful as any website telling you your password OR username is incorrect but won't tell you which one.
Then I finally remembered that 2007 TMNT terrified me and talked myself into watching it again.
Y'all if you haven't seen it, DO IT IT'S SO GOOD It's literally on my list of favorite movies now.
Anyway, after that whole mess, have some 2007 TMNT quotes as a reward for making it this far lol.
“Did you turn the computer on? Have you plugged it in. Yeah. That would help…”
“No, I’m not playing hard to get! I’m telling you sir, it’s not that kind of phone line!”
“No, I’m not your enemy, I’m just Donnie, you’re friendly IT tech support, here to help you 24 hours a day sir- I’m sorry! Ma’am. Heh.”
“Why couldn’t you send him away for training?”
“Well guys, if you ask me, I’d say this has Winter’s name written all over it.” “How do you figure that?” “Because, THIS has Winter’s name, written all over it.”
“I’m not dreamin, am I?!” “No, Mikey, you’re not dreaming.” “Oh, good. I have nightmares about birthday parties.”
“Donnie, you’re so smart. Why don’t we have jetpacks?” “Yeah, that’s good, Mikey, I don’t even trust you with a drivers license.”
“Well, good news is there’s a bunch of Foot ninjas getting the snot kicked out of them.”
“YEah, the turtles are back, dudes! I’d give us a ten for style, an eight for skill, and, uh, two, for stealth.”
“Dudes, did anyone get the license plate of the thing that hit us last night?”
“Yeah, it looked like your mom, dude!” “Uh, that would make her your mom too, dufus.” … “Yeah, whatever.”
“So it’s like Haleys Comet, but monsters come out.” “Uh, yes, I guess so!” “Heh. I’m smart.” *crashes*
“And that would be the swirling vortex to another world, i assume.” “Cool! I want one.”
“Winters.” “Looks more like Fall. Heh. Get it?” “Mikey, remember our talk.”
“I’m never usually that happy to be in pain.” “He’s happy because he’s mortal again, Mikey.”
“Yeah, I do nothing. You’re right. You got me all figured out.”
“I’m very disappointed in you, knucklehead! Guess night school’s in session!”
“That was too easy! *crash* … Like I said, too easy!”
“Hey, Casey! Meet me on the roof!” “Raph? What is it?” “The roof. You know what a roof is, dontcha?”
“Oh look at you, you’re so cute! Come here, Imma drop kick you to hurty town!”
“You’re gonna need these if you’re gonna lead us out of here.” “We’re gonna need you too.”
“Typical. We do all the work, he gets all the thanks.”
“Ah, I love bein a turtle.”
“Look, Raph, if you’ve got something you wanna get off your shell, now’s the time. But I’m not gonna sit here and debate Splinter’s direct orders with you!”
“Come to daddy.” *literally has like eight sharp objects now"
“What is it with ninjas and smoke pellets?”
“What’s going on Raph?” “Did I mention that we ran into a monster last night?” “No, you kind of FAILED to tell me about THAT one, buddy!”
“And now we got walking statues? You got a plan for those?!” “Hey, those are a first for me too.”
“And I thought Girl Scouts were pushy!”
“Cody is going to break up with Donna. I just know it.” “We interrupt the Gilmore Girls for this special news report. Monsters loose in the city? Strange reports are coming in tonight about a construction site incident that sounds like something out of science fiction.” “BOYS!”
“Raphael. You always bear the world problems on your shoulders. It is an admirable quality when you are a protector of others. But you must realize that while, at times, you may not be my favorite STUDENT, that does not mean that you are my least favorite SON. You are strong, passionate, and loyal to a fault. These are the merits of a great leader as well. But only when tempered with compassion and humility.”
“Sensei! You alright?” “Hehe. We must do this more often!” *whack* “I still got it!”
“Hey, look guys, I grabbed a toaster!” -Tommy
“I love your work ethic, Tommy, you’re an inspiration to us all.” -Gang leader
“Looks like you got a sidekick.” “Yeah, right. You’re the sidekick.”

Helpless part 59, another drop of poison that is slowly sinking in
TW/ ed, talks of self harm
"I'm so sorry for forgetting about the last two sessions, one was like the day the war finished and I was just trying to keep up with all the injuries and everything and then-"
"-Will it's fine, I've... I've sort of been avoiding you." He fiddled with his fingers as he spoke, running them around the bandage that covered his arm and hands.
"I understand, a lot's happen but talking might help."
"Kinda funny how we talked while I was on the Argo II but not when I'm back at camp."
"Yeah, I think Iris was pretty mad." That made both of them smile, for the last few months they'd called ever Monday because of Will's instance, Leo knew the reasons why but he didn't exactly want to think about it.
"Please be honest with me, I'm here to help you alright?" Leo nodded in response, not wanting to hold eye contact. "Were the burns intentional?" A sense of relief ran though him, he wasn't talking about the other thing, that was all that mattered to him right now.
"No god- um no, I swear I just completely forgot about them, there was some shit happening and I just lost track of them and...yeah I haven't done anything since we started these." A little lie, once, not badly, but that was months ago, Will didn't need to worryThe same relief washed over Will's face, Leo wondered whether it was because he cared or if he was still on edge from last night.
"I'm here to talk at any time if you need, alright? If I'm not someone else always will be."
"Thanks mate." His eyes looked almost hollow with each word he said, he knew Leo would be like this, as if hiding behind a mask of his words, either because of last night or hiding something. He thought back to the first time he'd done this with him, the memories still vibrant in his mind.
I hadn't seen Leo in a while, I mean I know he's busy working on his project but like he's never at dinner or anything. I kinda miss him and Piper told me where he is so I might go talk to him. I knock on the door of his bunker, no response but I can hear his short breaths and swearing at random intervals. After a minute of standing there I turn the handle,
"Hey Valdez, you good? I swear I haven't seen you in ages."
"What? Oh, hey Will, everything's fine, just trying to finish building." His eye's were bloodshot, he looked like he hadn't eaten or slept in days.
"Are you sure you're alright? You don't look that okay? When was the last time you ate?"
"Yeah, I ate and everything what brings you here."
"Just checking in on you, from what people have told me you haven't left this place in a few days."
"I- no clue really, don't really have a sense of time in here. I'm fine, just a bit tired."
"When was the last time you slept?"
"Not that long ago..." That was when I noticed the scratches and burns on his arms, half covered by a badly placed, bloodstained bandage. I'll get him in the infirmary, talk to him, make sure everything okay. He looks unnaturally skinny, probably because of all the time he spends here, forgetting about eating.
"Leo, come to the infirmary in half an hour, just need to set things up but I want to check a few things."
"I'm fine, I can't afford to stop working."
"Not a question, you need a break." That night he came, I started with all the routine check ups before talking about everything else. He told me about his mum, about his life on the streets and everything that happened before camp. I re-bandaged his arms, never bringing them up, he would talk about when he was comfortable enough to. A lot of demigods had scars and it isn't my place to force them to talk, I know I have more than he does. "I probably should have asked you this earlier but do you want something to eat?"
"Not hungry, am I free now?
"Yeah, come back at least once a week though. Monday nights?" He looked a little confused but just nodded and muttered something under his breath before leaving the infirmary. After a few weeks I realised he had anorexia, I suspected it from the first one but didn't want to scare him. I helped him as best I could and we managed to keep in touch with Iris messages while he was on the Argo II. It was sort of a form of therapy, I'm not sure if it actually helped but he started eating more and stopped self harming so I think it helped, even if only a little.
"Have you been eating okay?" Fuck, he was hoping he didn't ask about that. He could always lie but that would mean lying for every single week, he knew he needed help, he knew he should just tell him.
"I- um... shit."
"You can talk to me okay?" He felt like he was acting like Michael, the way he would talk to so many Aphrodite kids. Caring, but never making people open up, at the same time implying it. Never showing anything that might make them uncomfortable, no jokes unless you knew exactly how they'd react. Leo took a deep breath, he hoped he wouldn't regret this.
"I- well- I've not been the best for the last week or two, I think it's because of the war." He forced back tears,
"Hey, everything's fine. Trauma throws a lot of shit out of wack, you're going to be okay."
"Can we please change the subject and come back to this? It's just-" Will didn't need an explanation, he didn't want to make him uncomfortable, these were meant to help not something he was going to dread.
"Yeah, 'course, tell me when you feel okay to talk about it. Right now I need to check a few things, height, weight, blood sugar, heart rate." He was still pretty underweight and had a slow heart rate, blood sugar was really low, he wasn't doing that well but considering he just came out of a war less than two weeks ago it made sense.
"Can I talk to you about something?" The son of Hephaestus was scared to continue but he thought Will was a good person to talk to, if he couldn't trust him he couldn't trust anyone.
"Sure, that's what I'm here for."
"You're bi right?" That was not what he was expecting,
"Yeah?"
"Well- um- I think I might be something along those lines...? I don't know, I know I like girls but also I like guys and I didn't really know who else to talk to an-"
"Leo, breathe." His breath was a little shakey but he managed to calm down a little,
"Sorry, I'm just a little scared. Normally when I talked about this sort of stuff people shove the Bible in my face and told me to read it."
"Luckily for you I'm not Christian and I'm gay so no Bibles here."
"Also I think I sort of has a boyfriend...? I'm not sure but I think so, I mean we kissed like three times and he said he loved me."
"I think you do, I'm going to guess you can't tell me who they are?"
"You guessed correctly, I think you'll figure it out though. Just, what exactly am I?"
"Well you said you like boys and girls, there's bi, poly and there's pan which are really similar. Basically bi means you like all genders, poly is more than one gender and pan means you don't see gender when dating someone. There's also omni which means gender matters but you still like more than one gender, so it could be like a preference, or you could just be queer and not necessarily have a label. There's no like certain time you have to decide, you don't owe it to anyone and also it can change. There's probably more labels I'm not aware of but yeah you don't have to make a decision right away."
"Th-thanks, I'll think about that. Also I think I finally made a phone that monsters can't track so I can google it, maybe it'll help?"
"Yeah, it probably will, you can sort of see other people's experiences."
"Can we try talking about the other thing again? I don't really want to but I can't really avoid it forever."
"Just tell me if it's too much okay? I don't think you'll need to right now but if you're not getting better and it's a lot more dangerous than it is now or if you want to you could stay in the infirmary? We can do everything that worked last time as well because I know some of that had helped, it's probably just anxiety and PTSD making you feel out of control. It makes you need to control something which might be a reason. All good so far?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Remember you don't have to rush into it, take your time, don't be too hard on yourself. Things are going to be hard but I'm here to help alright?" He made a mental reminder to himself to test Leo for ocd in the next few weeks, he wasn't sure but it was always possible."Remember you're dealing with a lot right now and it's okay to take things slowly." Leo took a breath before getting up and hugging the son of Apollo.
"Thank you for everything, you're like a brother to me, I don't know what I would do without you."

"Did I do this?"
Before Jason can reply, Hedge picks up his club and gets shakily to his feet. "Yeah, you wanted some hoof? I gave you some hoof, cupcakes! Who's the goat, huh?"
He does a little dance, kicking rocks and making what are probably rude satyr gestures at the piles of clay.
Leo cracks a smile, and Jason can't help it — he starts to laugh. It probably sounds a little hysterical, but it's such a relief to be alive, he doesn't care.
Then a man stands up across the clearing. Tristan McLean staggers forward. His eyes are hollow, shell-shocked, like someone who'd just walked through a nuclear wasteland. "Piper?" he calls. His voice cracks. "Pipes, what — what is —" He can't complete the thought. Piper runs over to him and hugs him tightly but he almost doesn't seem to know her.
(Y/n) had felt a similar way — that morning at the Grand Canyon, when she woke with no memory. But Mr. McLean has the opposite problem. He has too many memories, too much trauma his mind just can't handle. He is coming apart.
"We need to get him out of here," Jason says, as though reading (Y/n)'s mind.
"Yeah, but how?" Leo says. "He's in no shape to walk."
Jason glances up at the helicopter, which is now circling directly overhead. "Can you make us a bullhorn or something?" he asks Leo. "Piper has some talking to do."
. . .
Borrowing the helicopter is easy. Getting her dad on board is not.
Piper needs only a few words through Leo's improvised bullhorn to convince the pilot to land on the mountain. The Park Service copter is big enough for medical evacuations or search and rescue, and when Piper tells the very nice ranger pilot lady that it would be a great idea to fly them to the Oakland Airport, she readily agreed.
"No," her dad mutters, as they pick him up off the ground. "Piper, what — there were monsters — there were monsters —"
She needs (Y/n)'s help to hold him, while Coach Hedge gathers their supplies. Fortunately Hedge had put his pants and shoes back on, so Piper doesn't have to explain the goat legs.
It breaks Piper's heart to see her dad like this — pushed beyond the breaking point, crying like a little boy. She doesn't know what the giant had done to him exactly, how the monsters had shattered his spirit, but she doesn't think she can stand to find out.
"It'll be okay, Dad," she says, making her voice as soothing as possible. She doesn't want to charmspeak her own father, but it seems like the only way. "These people are my friends. We're going to help you. You're safe now."
He blinks, and looks up at helicopter rotors. "Blades. They had a machine with so many blades. They had six arms . . ."
When they get him to the bay doors, the pilot comes over to help. "What's wrong with him?" she asks.
"Smoke inhalation," Jason suggests. "Or heat exhaustion."
"We should get him to a hospital," the pilot says.
"It's okay," Piper replies. "The airport is good."
"Yeah, the airport is good," the pilot agrees immediately. Then she frowns, as if uncertain why she'd changed her mind. "Isn't he Tristan McLean, the movie star?"
"No," Piper says. "He only looks like him. Forget it."
"Yes," the pilot replies. "Only looks like him. I —" She blinks, confused. "I forgot what I was saying. Let's get going."
Jason raises his eyebrows at Piper, obviously impressed, but Piper feels miserable. She doesn't want to twist people's minds, convince them of things they didn't believe. It feels so bossy, so wrong — like something Drew would do back at camp, or Medea in her evil department store. And how will it help my father? She can't convince him he would be okay, or that nothing had happened. His trauma is just too deep.
Finally they get him on board, and the helicopter takes off. The pilot keeps getting questions over her radio, asking her where she is going, but she ignores them. They veer away from the burning mountain and head towards the Berkeley Hills.
"Piper." Her dad grasps her hand and holds on like he was afraid he'd fall. "It's you? They told me—they told me you would die. They said . . . horrible things would happen."
"It's me, Dad." It takes all her willpower not to cry. She has to be strong for him. "Everything's going to be okay."
"They were monsters," he says. "Real monsters. Earth spirits, right out of Grandpa Tom's stories — and the Earth Mother was angry with me. And the giant, Tsul'kalu, breathing fire —" He focuses on Piper again, his eyes like broken glass, reflecting a crazy kind of light. "They said you were a demigod, Your mother was . . ."
"Aphrodite," Piper says. "Goddess of love."
"I – I –" he takes a shaky breath, then seems to forget how to exhale.
Piper's friends are careful not to watch. Leo fiddles with a lug nut from his tool belt. Jason gazes at the valley below – the roads backing up as mortals stop their cars and gawk at the burning mountain. (Y/n) is drinking a bottle of water – Smart thing for a Poseidon kid to do, Piper thinks – and studying the nicks in Tsunami's blade. Gleeson chews the stub of his carnation, and for once, the satyr doesn't look in the mood to yell or boast.
Traistan McLean isn't supposed to be seen like this. He's a star – confident, stylish, suave, and always in control. That was the image he'd always projected. Piper had seen the image falter before, but this is different. Now it's broken, gone.
"I didn't know about Mom," Piper tells him. "Not until you were taken. When we found out where you were, we came right away. My friends helped me. No one will hurt you again."
Her dad can't stop shivering. "You're heroes – you and your friends. I can't believe it. You're a real hero, not like me. Not playing a part. I'm so proud of you, Pipes." But the words are muttered listlessly, in a semi-trance.
He gazes down on the valley, and his grip on Piper's hand goes slack. "Your mother never told me."
"She thought it was for the best." It sounds lame, even to Piper, and no amount of charmspeak can change that. But she doesn't tell her dad what Aphrodite had really worried about: If he has to spend the rest of his life with those memories , knowing that gods and spirits walk the earth, it will shatter him.
Piper feels inside the pocket of her jacket. The vial is still there, warm to her touch. How can I erase his memories? Dad finally knows who I am. He's proud of me, and I'm his hero, not the other way around. He'd never send me away, now.
Her dad seems to relax as she talks, but he doesn't smile. Piper isn't even sure he heard her.
As they pass over the hills into the East Bay, Jason tenses. He leans so far out the doorway (Y/n) is afraid he'd fall, and she reaches out to grab the back of his collared shirt.
He points. "What is that?"
Piper looks down, but she doesn't see anything interesting — just hills, woods, houses, little roads snaking through the canyons. A highway cuts through a tunnel in the hills, connecting the East Bay with the inland towns.
"Where?" Piper asks.
"That road," he replies. "The one that goes through the hills."
Piper picks up the com helmet the pilot had given her and relays the question over the radio. The answer isn't very exciting.
"She says it's Highway 24," Piper reports. "That's the Caldecott Tunnel. Why?"
Jason stares intently at the tunnel entrance, but he says nothing. It disappears from view as they fly over downtown Oakland, but Jason still stares into the distance, his expression almost as unsettled as Piper's dad's.
"Monsters," her dad murmurs, a tear tracing his cheek. "I live in a world of monsters."
. . .
Air traffic control doesn't want to let an unscheduled helicopter land at the Oakland Airport – until Piper gets on the radio, that is.
They all unload on the tarmac, and everyone looks at Piper.
"What now?" (Y/n) asks Piper gently.
Piper feels slightly uncomfortable. She doesn't want to be in charge, but for her dad's sake, she has to appear confident. She has no plan. She'd just remembered that he'd flown into Oakland, which means his private plane would still be here. But today is the solstice. They have to save Hera. They have no idea where to go or even if they were too late. And how can I leave Dad in this condition?
"First think," Piper says. "I – I have to get my dad home. I'm sorry, guys."
Leo's and Jason's faces fall, but (Y/n)'s expression settles into an empathetic one – as though she understood exactly the problem that was raging in Piper's head.
"Oh," Leo says. "I mean, absolutely. He needs you right now. We can take it from here.
"Pipes, no," Tristan McLean had been sitting in the hospital doorway, a blanket around his shoulders. But he stumbles to his feet. "You have a mission. A quest. I can't –"
"I'll take care of him," interrupts Coach Hedge.
Piper stares at him. The satyr is the last person she'd expected to offer. "You?" she asks.
"I'm a protector," Gleeson says. "That's my job, not fighting."
He sounds a little crestfallen, and Piper realizes maybe she shouldn't have recounted how he got knocked unconscious in the last battle. In his own way, maybe the satyr is as sensitive as her dad.
Then Hedge straightens, and set his jaw. "Of course, I'm good at fighting, too." He glares at them all, daring them to argue.
"Yes," Jason says.
"Absolutely," (Y/n) grins.
"Terrifying," Leo agrees.
The coach grunts . "But I'm a protector, and I can do this. You dad's right, Piper. You need to carry on with the quest."
"But . . ." Piper's eyes sting, as if she were back in the forest fire. "Dad . . ."
He holds out his arms, and she hugs him. He feels frail. He is trembling so much, it scares her.
"Let's give them a minute," Jason says, and they take the pilot a few yards down the tarmac.
"I can't believe it," her dad says. "I failed you."
"No, Dad!"
"The things they did, Piper, the visions they showed me . . ."
"Dad, listen." She takes out the vial from her pocket. "Aphrodite gave me this, for you. It takes away your recent memories. It'll make it like none of this ever happened."
He gazes at her, as if translating her words from a foreign language. "But you're a hero. I would forget that?"
"Yes," Piper whispers. She forces an assuring tone into her voice. "Yes, you would. It'll be like—like before."
He closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. "I love you, Piper. I always have. I — I sent you away because I didn't want you exposed to my life. Not the way I grew up — the poverty, the hopelessness. Not the Hollywood insanity either. I thought — I thought I was protecting you." He manages a brittle laugh. "As if your life without me was better, or safer."
Piper takes his hand. She'd heard him talk about protecting her before, but she'd never believed it. She'd always thought he was just rationalizing. Her dad seems so confident and easygoing, like his life is a joyride. How can he claim she needs protecting from that?
Finally Piper understands he'd been acting for her benefit, trying not to show how scared and insecure he was. He really had been trying to protect her. And now his ability to cope has been destroyed.
She offers him the vial. "Take it. Maybe someday we'll be ready to talk about this again. When you're ready."
"When I'm ready," he mutters. "You make it sound like — like I'm the one growing up. I'm supposed to be the parent." He takes the vial. His eyes glimmer with a small desperate hope. "I love you, Pipes."
"Love you, too, Dad."
He drinks the pink liquid. His eyes roll up into his head, and he slumps forward. Piper catches him, and her friends run up to help.
"Got him," Hedge says. The satyr stumbles, but he is strong enough to hold Tristan McLean upright. "I already asked our ranger friend to call up his plane. It's on the way now. Home address?"
Piper is about to tell her. Then a thought occurs to her; she checks her dad's pocket, and his BlackBerry is still there. It seems bizarre to Piper that he'd still have something so normal after everything he'd gone through, but she guesses Enceladus hadn't seen any reason to take it.
"Everything's on here," Piper says. "Address, his chauffeur's number. Just watch out for Jane."
Hedge's eyes light up, like he sensed a possible fight. "Who's Jane?"
By the time Piper explains, her dad's sleek white Gulf-stream had taxied next to the helicopter.
Hedge and the flight attendant get Piper's dad on board. Then Hedge comes down one last time to say his good-byes. He gives Piper a hug and glares at Jason, (Y/n), and Leo. "You cupcakes take care of this girl, you hear? Or I'm gonna make you do push-ups."
"Absolutely, Coach," (Y/n) smiles, her eyes crinkling with smile lines.
"You got it," Leo says, a smile tugging at his mouth.
"No push-ups," Jason promises.
Piper gives the old satyr one more hug. "Thank you, Gleeson. Take care of him, please."
"I got this, McLean," he assures her. "They got root beer and veggie enchiladas on this flight, and one hundred percent linen napkins — yum! I could get used to this."
(Y/n) steps forward, pulling the Coach to the side for a moment. "I'll talk to Grover, for you, okay?" she says.
The Coach smiles slightly, clapping her on the shoulder. "You're a good kid, Jackson." Trotting up the stairs, the Coach loses one shoe, and his hoof is visible for just a second. The flight attendant's eyes widen, but she looks away and pretends nothing is wrong. Piper figures she'd probably seen stranger things, working for Tristan McLean.
When the plane is heading down the runway, Piper starts to cry. She'd been holding it in too long and she just can't anymore. Before she knows it, (Y/n) is hugging her, and Leo stands uncomfortably nearby, pulling Kleenex out of his tool belt.
"Your dad's in good hands," (Y/n) murmurs. "You did amazing."
Piper sobs into (Y/n)'s shirt. She allows herself to be held for six deep breaths, inhaling (Y/n)'s natural sea-salt scent. And then seven. Piper decides she can't indulge herself anymore. Her friends need her. The helicopter pilot is already looking uncomfortable, like she is starting to wonder why she'd flown them here.
"Thank you, guys," Piper says. "I —" She wants to tell them how much they mean to her. They'd sacrificed everything, maybe even their quest, to help her. She can't repay them, can't even put her gratitude into words. But her friends' expressions tell her they understand.
Then, right next to Jason, the air begins to shimmer. At first Piper thinks it's heat off the tarmac, or maybe gas fumes from the helicopter, but she'd seen something like this before in Medea's fountain. It's an Iris message. An image appears in the air — a dark-haired girl in silver winter camouflage, holding a bow.
Jason stumbles back in surprise. "Thalia!"
"Thank the gods," says the Hunter. The scene behind her is hard to make out, but Piper hears yelling, metal clashing on metal, and explosions. "We've found her," Thalia says. "Where are you?"
"Oakland," he replies. "Where are you?"
"The Wolf House! Oakland is good; you're not too far. We're holding off the giant's minions, but we can't hold them forever. Get here before sunset, or it's all over."
"Then it's not too late?" Piper cries. Hope surges through her, but Thalia's expression quickly dampens it.
"Not yet," Thalia says. "But Jason — it's worse than I realized. Porphyrion is rising. Hurry."
"But where is the Wolf House?" he pleads.
"Our last trip," Thalia says, her image starting to flicker. "The park. Jack London. Remember?"
This makes no sense to Piper, and (Y/n) comments "Jason, I love your sister like a sister, but she could've made more sense."
Jason, however, looks like he'd been shot. He totters, his face pale, and the Iris message disappears.
"Bro, you all right?" Leo asks. "You know where she is?"
"Yes," Jason says. "Sonoma Valley. Not far. Not by air."
Piper turns to the ranger pilot, who'd been watching all this with an increasingly puzzled expression.
"Ma'am," Piper says with her best smile. "You don't mind helping us one more time, do you?"
"I don't mind," the pilot agrees.
"We can't take a mortal into battle," Jason says. "It's too dangerous." He turns to Leo. "Do you think you could fly this thing?"
"Um . . ." Leo's expression doesn't reassure Piper, but then (Y/n) speaks.
"I can."
Jason, Piper, and Leo look at her, bewildered and (Y/n) shrugs.
"Rachel's dad had a helicopter," (Y/n) explains, though that wasn't much of an explanation.
Piper smiles at the ranger again. "You don't have a problem with an under-aged unlicensed kid borrowing your copter, do you? We'll return it."
"I –" The pilot nearly chokes on the words, but she gets them out: "I don't have a problem with that."
(Y/n) grins. "Hop in."
. . .
The sun is going down as they fly north over the Richmond Bridge, and (Y/n) can't believe the day had gone so quickly. Nothing like raging ADHD and a good fight to the death to make time fly, she thinks.
Piloting the chopper, she goes back and forth between confidence and panic. If she doesn't think about it, (Y/n) finds herself automatically flipping the right switches, checking the altimeter, easing back on the stick, and flying straight. If she allowed herself to think about what she's doing, her brain keeps telling her that Jason's dad would strike them out of the sky.
"Going okay?" Piper asks from the copilot's seat. Piper sounds more nervous than she is, so (Y/n) puts on a brace face.
"Great," (Y/n) replies.
"What's the Wolf House?" Leo asks, he and Jason kneeling side by side in between (Y/n) and Piper's seats.
"An abandoned mansion in the Sonoma Valley. A demigod built it – Jack London," Jason replies.
Leo can't seem to place the name. "He an actor?"
"A writer, I think," (Y/n) replies and Piper hums in agreement.
"Adventure stuff, right? Call of the Wild? White Fang?"
"Yeah," Jason says. "He was a son of Mercury — I mean, Hermes. He was an adventurer, traveled the world. He was even a hobo for a while. Then he made a fortune writing. He bought a big ranch in the country and decided to build this huge mansion — the Wolf House."
"Named that 'cause he wrote about wolves?" Leo guesses.
"Partially," Jason replies. "But the site, and the reason he wrote about wolves — he was dropping hints about his personal experience. There're a lot of holes in his life story — how he was born, who his dad was, why he wandered around so much — stuff you can only explain if you know he was a demigod."
The bay slips behind them, and the helicopter continues north. Ahead of them, yellow hills rolled out as far as (Y/n) can see.
"So Jack London went to Camp Half-Blood," Leo guesses.
"No," Jason frowns. "No, he didn't."
"Bro, you're freaking me out with the mysterious talk. Are you remembering your past or not?"
"Pieces," Jason says. "Only pieces. None of it good. The Wolf House is on sacred ground. It's where London started his journey as a child — where he found out he was a demigod. That's why he returned there. He thought he could live there, claim that land, but it wasn't meant for him. The Wolf House was cursed. It burned in a fire a week before he and his wife were supposed to move in. A few years later, London died, and his ashes were buried on the site."
"So," Piper says, "how do you know all this?"
A shadow crosses Jason's face. Probably just a cloud, but (Y/n) can swear the shape looked like an eagle.
"I started my journey there too," Jason replies. "It's a powerful place for demigods, a dangerous place. If Gaea can claim it, use its power to entomb Hera on the solstice and raise Porphyrion — that might be enough to awaken the earth goddess fully."
She's just hearing things.
"I think we're about thirty minutes out," (Y/n) tells her friends. "If you want to get some rest, now's a good time."
. . .
Jason straps himself in the back of the helicopter and passes out almost immediately, but Piper and Leo stay wide-awake with (Y/n).
After a few minutes of awkward silence, Leo says, "Your dad'll be fine, you know. Nobody's gonna mess with him with that crazy goat around.
Piper glances over, and Leo is struck by how much she'd changed. Not just physically either. Her presence was stronger. She seemed more . . . here. At Wilderness School, she'd spent the semester trying to to be seen, hiding out in the back row of the classroom, the back of the bus, the corner of the lunchroom as far as possible from the loud kids. Now she would be impossible to miss. It doesn't matter what she is wearing – you'd have to look at her.
"My dad," she says thoughtfully. "Yeah, I know. I was thinking about Jason. I'm worried."
Leo nods. The closer they get to the bank of dark clouds, the more Leo worries too. "He's starting to remember. That's got to make him a little edgy."
"But what if . . . what if he's a different person?" Piper says.
Leo had been having similar thoughts. If the Mist could affect their memories, could Jason's whole personality be an illusion, too? If their friend isn't their friend, and they are heading into a cursed mansion – a dangerous place for demigods – what would happen if Jason's full memory comes back in the middle of a battle?
(Y/n) glances back at the sleeping Son of Zeus. "After all we've been through? I can't see it. We're a team. Jason can handle it."
"How are you doing?" Piper asks, and Leo and Piper look at her.
"Okay," (Y/n) replies truthfully. "Memories sort of coming back, though there are still some big gaps." (Y/n) goes to say something else, but then they hit the storm clouds.
At first, (Y/n) thinks rocks are pelting the windshield. Then she realizes it's sleet. Frost builds up around the edges of the glass, and slushy waves of ice blot out her view.
"An ice storm?" Piper shouts over the engine and the wind. "Is it supposed to be this cold in Sonoma?"
(Y/n) isn't sure, but something about this storm seems conscious, malevolent – like it's intentionally slamming them.
Jason wakes quickly. He crawls forward, grabbing Leo's shoulder and one of the seats for balance. "We've got to be getting close."
(Y/n) is too busy wrestling with the stick to reply. Suddenly, it isn't so easy to drive the chopper – it's movements turning sluggish and jerky. The whole machine shudders in the icy wind. The helicopter probably hadn't been prepped for cold-weather flying. The controls refuse to respond, and they start to lose altitude.
Below them, the ground is a dark quilt of trees and fog. The ridge of a hill looms in front of them and (Y/n) yanks the stick, just clearing the treetops.
"There!" Jason shouts.
A small valley opens up before them, with the murky shape of a building in the middle. Leo aims the helicopter straight for it. All around them are flashes of light that reminds (Y/n) of the tracer fire at Midas's compound. Trees crackle and explode at the edge of the clearing, and a black and purple figure streaks in front of the windshield.
"Out!" (Y/n) orders.
The black dragon's mouth opens and begins to glow. (Y/n) closes her eyes and raises her hand, turning her head away.
The dragon closes his mouth, and he tilts his head. Then he presses his head to (Y/n)'s hand. (Y/n) opens her eyes, and meets the dragon's softened green gaze. He makes a sound like a cat purring, and he opens his mouth again, showing his toothless mouth.
"Toothless," (Y/n) murmurs, scratching underneath the dragon's chin.
"Jason! (Y/n)!" a girl's voice calls.
Thalia appears from the fog, her parka caked with snow. Her bow is in her hand, and her quiver is almost empty. She runs towards them, but makes it only a few steps before a six-armed ogre – one of the Earthborn – bursts from the storm behind her, a raised club in each hand.
"Look out!" Leo yells, and Toothless lets out a rumble.
"That was my last one." She kicks the pile of clay resentfully. "Stupid ogre." Then she sees the dragon looming over the demigods and draws a silver dagger.
"Wait!" (Y/n) says as Toothless rumbles again. "Toothless, meet Thalia. Thalia, meet Toothless."
"You tamed a Night Fury?" Thaila looks impressed, and then she hugs Jason and (Y/n), and nods to Piper. "Just in time. My Hunters are holding a perimeter around the mansion, but we'll be overrun any minute."
"By Earthborn?" Jason asks.
"And wolves — Lycaon's minions." Thalia blows a fleck of ice off her nose. "Also storm spirits —"
"But we gave them to Aeolus!" Piper protests.
"Who tried to kill us," Leo reminds her. "Maybe he's helping Gaea again."
"I don't know," Thalia says. "But the monsters keep re-forming almost as fast as we can kill them. We took the Wolf House with no problem: surprised the guards and sent them straight to Tartarus. But then this freak snowstorm blew in. Wave after wave of monsters started attacking. Now we're surrounded. I don't know who or what is leading the assault, but I think they planned this. It was a trap to kill anyone who tried to rescue Hera."
"Where is she?" Jason asked.
"Inside," Thalia says. "We tried to free her, but we can't figure out how to break the cage. It's only a few minutes until the sun goes down. Hera thinks that's the moment when Porphyrion will be reborn. Plus, most monsters are stronger at night. If we don't free Hera soon —" She doesn't need to finish the thought.
Leo, Jason, (Y/n) and Piper follow Thalia into the ruined mansion, Toothless trotting along behind.
Jason steps over the threshold and immediately collapses, falling back onto the Night Fury.
"Hey!" Leo exclaims. "None of that, man. What's wrong?"
"This place . . ." Jason shakes his head. "Sorry . . . It came rushing back to me."
"So you have been here," Piper says.
"We both have," Thalia replies. Her expression is grim, like she's reliving someone's death. "This is where my mom took us when Jason was a child. She left him here, told me he was dead. He just disappeared."
"She gave me to the wolves," Jason murmurs. "At Hera's insistence. She gave me to Lupa."
"That part I didn't know." Thalia frowns. "Who is Lupa?"
An explosion shakes the building. Just outside, a blue mushroom cloud billows up, raining snowflakes and ice like a nuclear blast made of cold instead of heat.
"Maybe this isn't the time for questions," Leo suggests. "Show us the goddess."
Each tendril is as thick as a telephone pole, with so little space between them that Leo doubts he could've gotten his arm through. Still, he can see inside. And in the center of the cage stands Tia Callida.
She looks exactly like Leo remembers: dark hair covered with a shawl, the black dress of a widow, a wrinkled face with glinting, scary eyes.
She doesn't glow or radiate any sort of power. She looks like a regular mortal woman, his good old psychotic babysitter.
(Y/n) drops into the pool and approaches the cage. "Hera, you in a little bit of trouble?"
Hera crosses her arms and sighs in exasperation. "Don't you dare talk to me that way, Jackson! Get me out of here!"
"My brother soloed Ares, maybe I should whoop your ass, too," (Y/n) replies.
Thalia steps next to her and looks at the cage with distaste — or maybe she is looking at the goddess. "We tried everything we could think of, but maybe my heart wasn't in it. If it was up to me, I'd just leave her in there."
"Oh, Thalia Grace," the goddess says. "When I get out of here, you'll be sorry you were ever born."
"Save it!" Thalia snaps. "You've been nothing but a curse to every child of Zeus for ages. \bu sent a bunch of intestinally challenged cows after my friend Annabeth —"
"She was disrespectful!"
"You dropped a statue on my legs."
"It was an accident!"
"Bullshit!" (Y/n) replies.
"And you took my brother!" Thalia's voice cracks with emotion. "Here — on this spot. You ruined our lives. We should leave you to Gaea!"
"Hey," Jason intervenes. "Thalia — Sis — I know. But this isn't the time. You should help your Hunters."
Thalia clenches her jaw. "Fine. For you, Jason. But if you ask me, she isn't worth it." Thalia turns, leaps out of the pool, and storms from the building.
Leo turns to Hera with grudging respect. "Intestinally challenged cows?"
"Focus on the cage, Leo," she grumbles. "And Jason — you are wiser than your sister. I chose my champion well."
"I'm not your champion, lady," Jason says. "I'm only helping you because you stole my memories and you're better than the alternative. Speaking of which, what's going on with that?" He nods to the other spire that looks like the king-size granite body bag. Was (Y/n) imagining it, or had it grown taller since they'd gotten here?
"That, Jason," Hera says, "is the king of the giants being reborn."
"Gross," Piper comments.
"Indeed," Hera agrees. "Porphyrion, the strongest of his kind. Gaea needed a great deal of power to raise him again — my power. For weeks I've grown weaker as my essence was used to grow him a new form."
"So you're like a heat lamp," Leo guesses.
"Or fertilizer," (Y/n) grins.
The goddess glares at them. "Joke all you wish," Hera says in a clipped tone. "But at sundown, it will be too late. The giant will awake. He will offer me a choice: marry him, or be consumed by the earth. And I cannot marry him. We will all be destroyed. And as we die, Gaea will awaken."
Leo frowns at the giant's spire. "Can't we blow it up or something?"
"Without me, you do not have the power," Hera says. "You might as well try to destroy a mountain."
"Done that once today," Jason replies.
"Just hurry up and let me out!" Hera demands.
Jason scratches his head. "Leo, can you do it?"
"I don't know." Leo tries not to panic. "Besides, if she's a goddess, why hasn't she busted herself out?"
Hera paces furiously around her cage, cursing in Ancient Greek. "Use your brain, Leo Valdez. I picked you because you're intelligent. Once trapped, a god's power is useless. Your own father trapped me once in a golden chair. It was humiliating! I had to beg — beg him for my freedom and apologize for throwing him off Olympus."
"Sounds fair," Leo says.
Hera movies him the godly stink-eye. "I've watched you since you were a child, son of Hephaestus, because I knew you could aid me at this moment. If anyone can find a way to destroy this abomination, it is you."
"But it's not a machine. It's like Gaea thrust her hand out of the ground and . . ." Leo feels dizzy. The line of their prophecy comes back to him: The forge and dove shall break the cage."Hold on. I do have an idea. Piper, I'm going to need your help. And we're going to need time."
The air turns brittle with cold. The temperature drop so fast, Leo's lips crack and his breath changes to mist.
"Thalia!" Jason rushes forward, but Piper and Leo pull him back. The ground around Thalia's statue was already webbed with ice. Leo fears if Jason touched her, he might freeze too.
"Who did this?" Jason yells. His body crackled with electricity. "I'll kill you myself!"
From somewhere behind the monsters, Leo hears a girl's laughter, clear and cold. She steps out of the mist in her snowy white dress, a silver crown atop her long black hair. She regards them with those deep brown eyes Leo had thought were so beautiful in Quebec.
