List: Queer creatives to spend your money on instead half-arsed pride merch from Target 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We're all aware by now that when you buy pride merch from one of Those Companies, your money is just going to a CEO who half-heartedly told someone to slap a rainbow on it and call it a day. So why not use that money to support an actual queer person who’s working hard to make art?

I've collected a(n incomplete) list of queer creatives who would benefit from your support this Pride Month - this is fairly limited in scope, as it only includes creators who responded to my call for links (or whose links were sent by friends & fans). It is also, for that reason, fairly audio-drama-heavy, but not exclusively so! It includes sections for crowdfunds, online stores, ttrpgs, and ko-fis and patreons for creators of a variety of different art forms.

The list is long, but worth a look through. Have a browse, see if anything appeals, and if you'd like to add any links, please do! Share the list around, shout out your friends and peers, boost your favourite artist, and vitally, self-promo is strongly encouraged!

Crowdfund campaigns:

Starting off strong with Forged Bonds @forgedbondspod — A queer, myth-bending audio drama retelling of Aphrodite and Hephaestus's love story.

This one takes pride of place as the inspiration for this post. Pine is working SO hard to make sure their cast gets paid regardless of crowdfunding outcomes, even if that means paying out-of-pocket. Help them avoid having to do that by supporting a truly kind and wonderful creator. (Crowdfund ends in a little over two weeks!)

We've also got a tight time-sensitive crowdfund for Waiting For October @monkeymanproductions — an upcoming queer supernatural audio drama series from the creators of Moonbase Theta, Out.

At the time of posting, they only have 13 hours left on their crowdfund, but they're 93% there! Help them cross the threshold and tell what I'm sure will be another gorgeous and wild story.

And for the horror lovers, a new crowdfund from The Morbid Forest — a deep dive into all things grusesome!

They are hoping to fund their fifth season, and it's looking to be their biggest yet. A lot of what they're asking for will be used to pay guest authors they're bringing in for the new season, allowing platforms for up-and-coming writers. Help them make this a reality!

Pyon is an afro-latino freelance artist, writer, designer, and indie game developer

Xan Larson is an Illustrator, Comic Artist and Content Creator with a specialty and marked enthusiasm for mythological creatures of all kinds and all cultures.

Dylan Birtolo is a writer, a gamer, and a professional sword-swinger

Dylan has a huge number of books on offer, primarily fantasy, including anthologies, novellas, and novels.

TTRPGs galore:

Sunken Rust are a game company run by married couple Dave Eisinger and Jazz Eisinger, and they offer a range of absolutely delightful TTRPGs, ranging from a wholesome GBBO-inspired micro RPG, to a solo journaling game about exploring an abandoned mansion.

Tea Witch Games is run by Anna Landin, a queer Swedish illustrator, comic artist and game designer. She offers games that run the gamut from sweet and cozy to weird, sad and spooky.

K. Petker offers games from wonderfully unique perspecitves including heroines of the princess council, children facing the apocalypse, and cats protecting their humans from the supernatural.

Christine Prevas is a writer, designer, PhD student & erstwhile librarian offering TTRPGs that range from two-player steamy horror to theatrical tragedy, and more.

Unseeliejess is a game designer and social worker, and my personal favourites from her offerings include Oops! All Draculas! and multiple sapphic-focused TTRPGs

Thoughty is run by Beau Jágr Sheldon, including innovative TTRPGs in a range of formats, as well as some games that break away from the table entirely.

Riverhouse Games includes a ton of fun concepts, including a micro-game about cleaning your kitchen and a game about telling your hot gay (dragon) boyfriend you love him. They also offer a guide to writing your own RPG!

E. Chris Garrison is the proprietor of Chris's Compendium of Free RPGs, one of the oldest game repositories on the web. They are also the designer of Saving People / Hunting Things, a TTRPG inspired by monster-of-the-week style television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Supernatural. They also have a ton of fantasy, supernatural, and sci-fi books on offer

Handsofblue offers a campy horror game about awful people and a serial killer, and a solo knitting game

Drazillion is an award-winning narrative designer, writer, and artist, offering a huge portfolio of games with a strong focus on queer narratives and themes. You can also support her on Patreon

Season 14 is so wild already and im loving it. I'm also still relistening to woe.begone and its just as good as the first time. Mikey sounds so young and not nearly as traumatized. I missed that. He's the bear 🐻

I am still making my way through the @podcast-bookclub's Podjam shows! I've listened to 4 so far and they are all so incredible. Starting things off with @working-tidal-pod which is NOT a comedy but IS very fucking good go listen to my friends show go do it now

@thefinderskeeperpod absolutely knocked me out I love it so much already. @madd-vo and @audistorium have made one hell of a show and I cannot wait to hear more of it because gods I'm gnawing on it so much it's so so so fucking good

@spacespeckspod has made a post apocalypse story that doesn't fill me with existential dread (yet <3) I love this group of survivors so much already and want to hear all about them and gods if anything terrible happens I'll sob <3

@theichorousrotpod was the last one I've listened to (so far) and it's another one I'm gnawing on already. I love a fictional mysterious disease and I love hearing what they're doing with it so far. When more is released I WILL become feral I'm so excited

Hello wanderers, its time for another late #AudioDramaSunday post! This week has been wildly busy but there was still time for @doyoucopypod to rip my heart out of my chest (on my birthday of all days, Delaney!!) We're getting closer to the end of season 2 and I have Many Concern

@woebegonepod continues to stress me out (positive). I'm so worried about all of the Mikes Walters but especially my boy MW what's going on with him Dylan what is happening please leave him alone he's a good not-cowboy

We're gonna drop in some older episodes because I didn't post last week so let's talk @grottopod because whooboy episode 12 really lived up to the title of Shattered I have. Concerns. About Emily. I'm sure she'll be fine (<- lying to myself)

Last week also had @audistorium's first foray into romance and it broke my heart into a million pieces Landon Lemon Whisnant has written another brilliant story and I'll be unwell about it forever I cried SO MUCH YALL

I am officially caught up on @thecellarletters and I'm. Gnawing on wood over it every aspect of this show is phenomenal but the way it's weaving mystery and horror is REALLY making my brain buzz right now it's so well crafted and Jamie is phenomenal

@ethicstownpod this week terrified me!! It was so well done!! Idk if yall know this from listening to the Fringes but AI freaks me out. And Ethics Town is REALLY digging into that fear of mine it's incredible I love Ethics Town so much

Today marked the launch of @allatseapod which is. Fucking fantastic already. Not only is Noah Bell an incredible writer and voice actor, they are also my friend and I love what they've done so far I can't wait to keep listening to this show congratulations Noah it's amazing!

Late #AudioDramaSunday posting because I had a date to a ren faire today but now it's audiodrama time!!! Starting off with @ethicstownpod because even though I didn't have time to listen episode 2 still was released and I'm still in love with Ethics Town <3

@doyoucopypod episode 4 has given me. Concerns. As I expected it to but still I will be screaming about it until the next episode drops and then I'll be screaming about that as well. I love Do You Copy? a normal amount <3

I've finally finished @thesiltverses and I. Cried a lot. Everything about this show has always been fantastic but to see how it ends/how the last run of episodes went was just something beautiful to experience. Those were the Silt Verses. And what an honor it was to be a disciple

@woebegonepod season finale was this week and gods was it a lot of fun!! I once again had the fortune of being in the episode and there are some things about Magnolia which are still rattling around in my brain. Woe.begone continues to be the show of all time I adore it

@grottopod episode 11 has. Done things to my heart that I will never recover from which is often the way with the Grotto. Shout out to @taytayheyhey for breaking my heart and to @doomedbythenarrativ for making me believe in Emily rights AND Emily wrongs

@woebegonepod had the return of my beloved Helen Hartley (aka @totcoc0a)! Tot broke my heart!! I love the story that's being built with this season I'm also *so nervous* about the story being built by this season. Whatever happens, it's gonna be amazing

@thecellarletters continues to grip it's claws on my life. I got through episode 23 this week and I have. ConcernsTM. Where did Steve go, Jamie? What happened to my boy Steve? I'm sure I'll find out but until then I'll be vibrating in fear.

I relistened to the @goblinspod pilot and gods yall I really need more of this show so if you could check out their crowdfunder that would be great it's such a good concept and I've missed the Brothers Meredith and their shenanigans so much

My dear friend @louis-dc has just announced his next project: Media Microscope!! You should give their socials a follow because gods it's gonna be such a fun time and there will be many familiar voices as commentators on the show :D

@tellnotalespod broke my heart. Again. Riley Matkins the wreck of a human you are I adore you. Also Leo Quinn the wreck of a human you are I'm 😭😭 I love them both so much and they made me cry a lot

@woebegonepod was the perfect amount of trippy for me this week I have no idea who or what to trust and I'm obsessed with it. Also we got an MDawg and while he's not my MDawg he's an MDawg and that's good enough for me

@doyoucopypod has returned with the start of season 2 and I'm gnawing on the episodes so hard everything about them is just AHHHH Delaney has done such an incredible job with this show and I'm so scared of what's to come if you're not listening to DYC you gotta fix that

The wonderful Landon @audistorium released a lil ep about taking a break and there being no need to rush and I did cry. This is the second time Lemon has done this to me with his gentle narration voice. I adore Audistorium with my whole heart go listen go go go

Here on the Fringes I've gotten another 2 vocal cuts done and have flailed my hands around excitedly because holy fuck yall are gonna love it

@souloperatorpod episode 9 early release had me sobbing into my pancake batter and made my pancake taste sad. Tot is doing a really really good job but also. Sad pancake.

@tellnotalespod 8.5 also made me sob this week. I've mentioned this before but the way Leanne writes queer people is just endlessly beautiful. Each character, no matter how small the role, lives and breathes and grieves even in death. I absolutely adore Tell No Tales

@woebegonepod 155 was delightful and not heartbreaking for once! Getting to see Chance and Marissa friendship AND hearing from Edgar AND another Ty Betteridge? Absolutely perfect no notes.

@grottopod gave us a Lillian focused episode and gods it was so fucking good I love Natalie Light so much everything she does is wonderful. I'm also concerned about The Grotto but when is this not the case terrible things do happen there

@ethicstownpod has rewritten my brain and brought back Rhys Lawton which I was so excited for the return of my wet cat of a man January Johnson. You'll never guess, but I'm worried about what's gonna happen in Ethics Town. We've hit my run of podcasts that Concern Me

@thecellarletters (another podcast that Concerns Me) has once again decided to gaslight girlboss my bestest boy Nate and I'm. Everything that happens in this show leaves me chomping at the bit for the next episode it's so well done

@allatseapod episode 2: time for beans! The way Noah writes and voices February is so evocative and wonderful and while I'm concerned for what will happen at sea, gods am I excited for the ride

The @camlannpod season finale was beautiful and heartbreaking and stressful and hopeful and absolutely everything. If you're able to support the show so that it can get a season 2 PLEASE do, it deserves it so much

You would think that I wouldn't be @woebegonepod posting since this was their off week, but I was listening to season 1 during my brother's college graduation. We were there for 4.5 wbg episodes and I could not have picked a better show to keep me company
