THW AU where Hiccup's solution to "Our world doesn't deserve you" is to just get all the Foreverwings to gather together and make a massive landmass in the shape of the Isle of Berk and Meathead Islands from the books. Berk gets "New Berk" (Isle of Berk) and the Berserkers can move to "New Berserker Island" (Meathead Islands) if they wish (they do). And they form this landmass next to the Hidden World (maybe the waterfall is in the center of the Inner Ocean). So they literally built a whole ass secret country that nobody knows about and they use this landmass as a means to defend the entrance to the Hidden World and allowing dragons to come to and from the outside world and roam the forest and shit AND allowing Toothless and Hiccup to stay together while also in their respective roles of King and Chief…

Crossover 3

Y’know, there could be a really fun batman and httyd crossover where the entrance to the Hidden World, or at least an entrance, is in the Batcave.  Bruce fell into the cave as a kid, and totally could have stumbled across it as he was fleeing from the swarming bats. Now I don’t know about you, but even with all the bats, I would definitely be intrigued and go back down again at some point because A, the hidden world is gorgeous, and B, freaking dragons.  Alfred is just relieved he’s showing interest in something, and probably goes down with him too at some point for safety reasons. 

Why does Bruce become Batman instead of something dragon themed? Well, he has Chiroptophobia canonically. To him bats are scary, and dragons aren’t.

Pt. 3 | Hotarubi, Obscuary, and Mortkranken

Subaru - Foreverwing

The foreverwing is a gigantic dragon, often disguised as part of a landmass while hibernating. It’s an alpha dragon, but despite its size and status is known as a benevolent leader and a peaceful, often dormant dragon. Despite its usually peaceful demeanor, it can have quite a temper if awakened without consent. It can produce lava strong enough to destroy entire villages, as well as acid, and has the ability to manipulate plants. Foreverwings create a natural calming substance, which calms those who come in contact with the substance and can even sedate creatures who experience prolonged exposure.

Haku - Raincutter

The raincutter is a semi-aquatic dragon whose diet consists mainly of worms and grubs. Because of this, they love the rain and dislike sunny and warm weather, making them perfectly suited for Hotarubi’s consistent rain and springy atmosphere. They’re extremely loyal and passionate toward their rider and often bring them “gifts” like cats do. They’re very trusting of humans.

Zenji - Stormcutter

To start, the stormcutter has a dramatic, unique appearance and a mysterious, peculiar atmosphere. Personality-wise, it is an intelligent, curious, playful dragon that is also often proud and confident. It has well-developed sense and high empathy, and is easy to train because it will respect anyone who shows it respect. It is often sweet and quite friendly, loyal to its rider and their allies.

Rui - Razorwhip

Razorwhips are dangerous to touch, between their extremely sharp plated scales and their poisonous tears. They can also breathe out toxins. They’re reclusive by choice, distrusting people and other dragons, and can squeeze the life out of their victims with their long, prehensile tails. They are territorial and tend to be hostile, however they do however have a sense of humor and can seem a bit vain at times. Once someone earns their trust, they’re highly protective of and loyal to their rider, even though they tend to remain somewhat hostile to their rider’s allies. The metal-like qualities of their scale plates would make it much harder for Rui to accidentally harm one through touch.

Ed - Whispering Death

Whispering deaths are dangerous in almost every way, covered in spikes inside and out. Their rows of teeth rotate like a buzz saw, creating the every whispering noise that gives them their name. They’re stealthy, usually staying underground and tunneling to hunt, and are highly intelligent with a long memory though they have poor eyesight and a terrible sense of direction. Despite being ferocious and difficult to tame, if someone does something to earn the respect of a whispering death, it remembers it and trusts and respects them. Like Ed, they’re extremely sensitive to the sun.

Lyca - Monstrous Nightmare

The monstrous nightmare is ferocious-looking dragon. It’s naturally fearless and proud, impulsive, stubborn, tenacious, intimidating, hot-tempered, and tends to be aggressive. Despite its belligerent attitude, it will heed the direction of someone who proves they’re worthy of being listened to. It’s very cautious about who it trusts, and can coat itself in fire in a manner that’s as much for defense as it is offense. It’s intelligent, though easily disoriented by unfamiliar and distracting circumstances, and sensitive to loud noises. It does also have a softer side not many get to see.

Yuri - Deathgripper

The best word to describe a deathgripper is sinister. It is an attentive, intelligent, and aggressive dragon whose skull shape gives it the appearance of having a permanent sadistic grin. It enjoys playing with its prey, intentionally administering doses of venom from its stinger that won’t immediately kill its victims. Its venom is paralytic in smaller doses but doesn’t numb pain receptors, letting prey feel everything while it’s ripped apart alive. If a victim of its venom survives, once the paralyzation wears off the victim is left with a burning rash at the injection site. It should be avoided at all costs if not on your side.

Jiro - Boneknapper

The boneknapper is considered one of the most abnormal species of dragons. Its own body is physically quite weak, but it protects itself by covering itself in the bones of others. Despite its size and strength, it is agile, flexible, and skilled at moving silently. It is a perfectionist, sometimes spending years finding the right bones to complete its armor. Though it can be ornery and dangerous, a boneknapper is the most reliable dragon around once you’ve won it over.

And most of it is just one oc put into every fandom in existence. The cat creature is my version of a fusion between an espurr and a meowth. She’s quite a silly little wannabe knight same with the little foreverwing!! Wannabe Viking rrrggg/j

The other ones are friends’ ocs except the fan made httyd dragon and the Urple hair lady.. same lady is the one in the middle of the httyd height chart I did for me and my friend’s ocs…. also the epithet erased one (can you guess her epithe-/j)

Oh yeah and the melted decrepit puppet up there, mostly just a theoretical design of how it’d look after the pizza place fire, I have no doubt the lefty suit protected most of it despite insulating the heat further.

Their name is Leif and they take care of a baby Foreverwing!

When it gets older they'll likely build a little hous or cottage on his back!

The foreverwing's name is Barkley and he is jus a silly guy, he is very slow and calm, half due to being blind but also just cuz he's jus chillin!

The Fire Tides Chapter 6 - Maelstrom Metamorphosis

Since I've been away for so long, it's only fair I get more chapters done hehe! Here's chapter 6, where Hiccup and Toothless get separated from everyone and the plot begins for The Fire Tides. This was quite a challenge to write, especially since it's filled with a lot of visuals of the maelstrom so I tried to give it my best shot! Hope you guys enjoy it!

“Are you cold?” Hiccup whispered to Astrid, shuffling closer to her.

“The winds are quite strong for some reason,” Astrid wrapped her arms around him, “It’s quite strange.”

“Astrid’s right,” Valka approached the two huddled up, “There’s something a bit peculiar about the wind levels right now.”

“Perhaps it’s the night’s calling? They do tend to get very strong in the evening hours,” said Hiccup.

“Maybe. Although, it would be best if we fly south-east for now. Just to steer clear of the gusts,” Valka walked to the Foreverwing’s head.

“Yeah, we can change our direction once the wind levels have calmed down a bit.”

Astrid glanced at the others all snoring, lying in a little coup. They really were worn out from all the mead; it was insane how easily they fell to their knees. She turned her head upwards; the stars seemed to not be as visible even though it was practically nightfall. With the shadows consuming them all, she felt the wind against her face, harshly and strongly, almost in a mocking manner. Astrid stiffened. Something just didn’t feel right. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it but there was definitely something up.

“For Thor’s sake,” Hiccup wrapped his arms tightly around her as the gusts grew stronger, “The gods seriously are rethinking whether to keep you with me!”

Astrid looked down in unease, holding onto him tightly.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

“I don’t feel too good.”

“Oh,” Hiccup looked at her in concern, “Are you feeling really cold?”

He began rubbing her arms to try and warm her up; the last thing he wanted was for Astrid to end up with a fever once they arrived at Berk.

“No, I just feel like something’s not-”  

A thunderous quaking arose. The lightning struck the waters with a sharp current, stealing any surviving glimmers of the stars and shaping it into a singular electrifying flash. Right beneath them, the tides began to spiral, sharply and intensely, coiling into a foaming and tumultuous pit of anguish - a crater in the seas mined by Njord himself. The quaking grew louder. And gradually, the strong winds that struck the riders from above began to, instead, intensify from below, with the prodigious hole releasing its fumes in a strong desire to absorb any forms of life like a blaring suction machine. “A maelstrom!” Valka instantly leapt onto Cloudjumper, “Everyone get up!” Hiccup stood up in an instant, jumping onto Toothless, “For Thor’s sake! Not now!” “Guys, wake up! On your dragons!” Astrid yelled, finally realising what her gut meant. The Foreverwing cried, feeling itself being pulled in by the gyrating waters. Harshly, the lawnlike dragon jostled itself with all its might in an attempt to avert the whirlpool. In doing so, it ended up jostling its passengers awake as well. Snotlout screamed as he went flying across the Foreverwing’s back, slamming into one of his high trees.

“Aarghh!” He yelled in pain, “Why is it that whenever I try to get some beauty sleep, I always end up opening my eyes up to a precarious situation?!“

“Hey! Snotlout, watch out!” yelped Fishlegs, as Meatlug nearly collided into him.

Hookfang caught his rider in an instant, speeding past the timber and bushes in irritation. The monstrous nightmare huffed loudly, heating up and covering himself in boisterous flames. Barf and Belch also managed to make a quick rescue of their riders too, sighing in defeat as they began to hear the exasperated mutters of the now awoken twins.

“Sister, are you seeing this or am I simply dreaming?”

“No Brother, this is reality.”

Ruffnut and Tuffnut widened their eyes in shock as their smiles grew. “A maelstrom!” They both cheered in ecstasy.

“This is of such a beauty that our eyes are not worthy to behold, do you see the speed at which those waves spin?! The foam that so effortlessly builds up right in the centre?!”

“You are not mistaken Brother! And that quaking noise! It sounds way better than the lava pit that Throk showed us back at Mala’s!”

“Oh Thor, please let it be! Let us be swooped in by those strong currents, let us feel the gusts slap our face and the tides mess up our hair!” cried Tuffnut in pure unaltered worship.

“No, let us not have to deal with any of that Thor!” called Hiccup, as he adjusted Toothless’ tail fin to give them more altitude.

“It’s too strong Hiccup!” Eret nudged Skullcrusher to push even harder against the current.

“We have to stay in the air! C’mon guys, push through!” The riders all thrusted against the engulfing winds, forcing past the suction of the pulsating seas. Their efforts were, however, dying in vain. Much more vigorously, the waves convulsed and pounded against its own body of water, swinging and thrashing like a bloody diseased merchant gasping for air. Astrid felt her grip on the saddle loosen by the sheer velocity of the wind. The tight coldness slammed against her wrists and she felt her body being shoved off by the sudden squall of wind shooting right at her waist.

“Aah!”

Hiccup noticed the agitated squawking of Stormfly. His eyes widened as he saw Astrid plummeting from her dragon, nearing closer to the maelstrom.

“Astrid!” He cried, pushing Toothless towards the whirlpool, “I know bud. But we can’t let her get dragged in!”

“Hiccup! Don’t-” Astrid struggled to get her words out with how powerful the winds were.

The Night Fury and the Deadly Nadder were both at a very perilous spot. The eye of the maelstrom glared at the two in envy, wishing to split them up like the flying debris that it was currently slicing in half. Desperately, Hiccup and Toothless dove towards Astrid.

“Hiccup!” Valka cried, seeing how close he was to the spiralling hole.

Hiccup gasped as the wind tugged at his lungs and twisted his stomach. Shakily extending his arm out, he stretched his hand down towards her, challenging the gravitational gale that was pushing Astrid to her descent. With tear-induced eyes, she slowly held her hand up in response, thrusting her arm against the burning current that was ramming her down to the depths of hell.

They both held each other’s gaze, tightening their eyes in solemnity. He couldn’t see the glow of the stars in her pupils any longer. Toothless’ tail was sliding off. The thunder became deafening. And by nature’s will, the spiritual strings connecting their fingertips within that monumental gap was sliced by a final gush of wind, incontestably severing the remaining fusion between the two. Like a drill in the ocean splicing the central unit, the whirlwind spun its threads to close off any remaining gaps and released a powerful striking blow that propelled each of the riders to their own solitary ends. Their screams were overpowered by the thunderous roars and, slowly yet softly, clusters of raindrops began to fall - a dire attempt to calm the fiery tides.

So, things have turned completely upside down now! Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, this is where things start to go haywire and we'll see a lot of Hiccup development, as well as the development of the other characters in the upcoming chapters. I'm really hooked in writing this and I thank you guys for being patient and appreciating my work, it really means a lot as someone who's planning to release her own novel in the future! I'll continue to make this project the best that I can and continue to improve my writing! :)

the full sized dragons are any of what would be considered the leviathans & the legendaries!! red death, green death, purple death, screaming death, bewilderbeasts, foreverwing, shellfire, the elder sentinel, the fault ripper, the doomfang, etc!!

all of these dragons are thought to have been long extinct in the modern era the au takes place!! dragons that went extinct with the dinosaurs & couldn't possibly still exist with the range of small to large dog sized dragons that exist now and are currently endangered. a small isle off the coast of where the gang live is basically dragon island & where the red death stuff goes down :)

full sized dragons are a struggle to train, if at all, & do not live near humans. the one that causes the most trouble human wise is the screaming death. his egg still gets put underground by berk by alvin & his crew as a revenge plot :) i love the screaming death in this au bc the whispering death mama (i believe her name is groundsplitter!) is so much tinier than she is in the shows!!!! smol mama & big baby boi.

the gang love being the center of everything /hj & tend to be the ones that find these legendary creatures & remind humanity that they are small in the grand scheme of things :)

also while not necessarily legendary, the crimson goregutter is also it's full original size bc funny :)

steve reaches over to pluck the joint from her hand, dangerously close to the point that it'll start burning their fingers. he gives it three more puffs. he uses up one of them, his eyes slightly crossed from looking down at the cherry - red end. the ash falls onto his lap and he wipes it off of his jeans, but it fails and only smears more into the fabric. he's too high to care.

but does he? he shows it to his friends, his emotional side that has only recently made an appearance after years of fitting into a category that he didn't exactly belong to, but to everyone else? maybe. steve has the habit of caring too much and it scares people away. he's often described as sensitive, especially by dustin ( who isn't a good judge on too - sensitive, if we're being honest ) but by others, he could be considered an asshole. okay, he's thinking way too far into this. he passes the culprit of his over - analyzing back to nora, running a hand through his hair.

Been thinking about the dragons from httyd, and just wondering... what lives could the wild dragons be living?

Are there more bewilderbeasts acting as alphas? foreverwings or red/green deaths? something else?

What is dragon culture, do different species have different cultures?

What would the dragons even call themselves? Do they use the names the humans gave them? Or do they have their own naming system?

Hell, do they even use she/her or he/him? Do dragons even understand pronouns? Do they just use neopronouns or like nounself pronouns?

Do different species of dragons have like, names that only they use?

What do they call themselves even? I mean names like 'flightmares' or 'death songs' were names the humans made up. What do dragons call each other?

Are there different dragon hives outside of the known archipelago? Are there more night furies and they just don't normally live in the places we see?

To be fair the large something is, the more it has to eat, and small organisms don't do that much to actually help keep it alive. So meaning I think it makes more sense that it's BIG, but it's not bewilder-beast or red death size.

They definitely could've done much more to help with the design though, its just kind of a big snake really. Maybe we'll get more (doubtful) but even still. Also yeah, it being more than a thousand years old like, did hiccup build it a pen? does it have an auto-feeder and some kind of liquid drip for it to drink? Was it hibernating for 1300 years?? Bizarre.

While I do get where you're coming from, for me the issue is that this thing is apparently the "ultimate predator of all dragons" when dragons like the Bewilderbeast, Red Death, Foreverwing, and Purple Death exist. I just really don't see how a dragon of its size (and abilities) would be able to take down any of those species lol. Also just....the fact that it literally has the name "Jörmungandr" and was presumably what inspired the myths about it in the HTTYDverse, and yet it isn't even that large/long when Jörmungandr is said to be this unfathomably large serpent that literally circles the world is um. A bit strange.

Like I could forgive the very meh design and that it isn't Bewilderbeast or Red Death sized if it wasn't meant to be "THE ULTIMATE PREDATOR" and literally what inspired Jörmungandr.

(And yeah no idea what they were thinking with that but whatever it's not like most things in TNR make sense.)
