I started this as a quick sketch and thought about a quick background, but again, as always, I can't seem to let something unfinished, so here it is.

Maybe I could've done better on some parts of the lightings, but I'm still very proud of how it turned out, especially for the background ! I'm getting out of my comfort zone, trying new things and actually thinking it's not that bad, I think it's an amazing step for me !

So, just a sketch in the AU where Miles would get to the North Pole, and would end up in my Resistance group. A new land, and new dangers. So he got the best teacher to tell him everything he needs to know to not get chomped !

Can anyone do a drawing of Steve Harrington and Billy Hargrove from Stranger Things as Na'vi? I really eant to see Steve as a forest Na'vi and Billy as reef Na'vi. I also wouldn't mind seeing Eddie Munson and Tommy Hagan as forest Na'vi.

So apparently it's now been officially confirmed that the "Mangkwan" clan briefly mentioned at the end of The Next Shadow comics IS indeed the "ash clan" that will be featured in Fire and Ash (a lot of people speculated this before but it wasn't confirmed until now).

...which is all fine and dandy, except that kw is still not a valid consonant cluster, Karyu Pawl plz explain, the language nerds are crying 😭 Was this perhaps a typo of Mangkuan or Mangkawn? Or a new dialect that allows for more clusters? Or something else?

Right now my theory is that it's gonna be Mangkuan and the Mangkuan vs Mangkwan spelling difference will essentially be the same as Omatikaya vs Omaticaya (the first one being the technically "correct" one per Na'vi phonetics but the second still showing up in some canon material).

Part of the problem here, I think, comes down to what I'm gonna call the Cameron Paradox. James Cameron didn't create the Na'vi language; he created a small list of words, as well as all the character names (from the movies at least, idk about the comics and games), then hired linguist Paul Frommer (Karyu Pawl) to do the rest. Cameron's grammatical/phonetic/etc understanding of the language Frommer built, from what I can tell, seems to be pretty limited; those details are Frommer's realm. So it's very possible that Cameron chose the name Mangkwan because it sounded cool and simply had no idea that it's technically invalid within the sound system Frommer set up.

However...while Cameron himself isn't the one who created the Na'vi language, he does technically own it. It's a commissioned work and therefore Cameron, as the commissioner, has the power to override Frommer if he wishes. If Cameron has his heart set on "Mangkwan", Frommer doesn't really have a choice but to work around that. He might end up doing that by hand-waving it as a special spelling variation of "Mangkuan" (again like the explanation of c vs k in Omatikaya), or he might end up doing it by incorporating some sort of special new dialect rules for the Ash People. Or maybe some other solution that I haven't thought of. We just don't know yet.

...and Karyu Pawl might not actually be legally allowed to address it until after the movie's release date, so we might be waiting for a quite a while to find out ;w;

I think I could've done better with the background, but it's still pretty ! It feels like ages since I did a piece like this.

Forest na'vi! Nät :D

My first drawing of Nät, as some of you may remember, was her as a forest na'vi.

I was indecisive to make her Forest or Reef na'vi at first, in my corrupted files they were a few sketches that never saw the light. Hopefully, the art that I'm working on will soon be posted :]

So anyways, here is my official forest na'visona, aka, forest na'vi Ni'nätya which idk maybe will become a thing of her own like the rest :]

So recently, I asked @thanatasia to do a small challenge for herself as practice as a prize for a small thing she did. While she was doing her sketch, I felt that if I'm going to challenge someone to step out of their comfort zone, I should do the same myself.

So the challenge was to draw a piece from a high angle with foreshortening, my least favorite things, with a background and at night to practice my colors.

THIS PIECE KICKED MY SOUL AND MY BUTT!!!! Took me this whole week to draw and finish the thing. I'm honestly glad it turned out so pretty though, it was also my first time drawing the Atokirina so that also added to the stress.

Still, I am proud of how it came out and the fun part was playing with the glowing effect. Especially Tree’ya’s freckles and her eyes.

I finally watched the second Avatar movie a couple of days ago and just for fun here’s a bit of a “night on Pandora” color scheme edit.

I know heavy editing isn’t for everyone but in my opinion it’s alright to (intentionally) overdo it sometimes. :D

Next

Introducing a new character to the AU commander Ambessa Medarda, the one pushing for the removal of the native na'vi to collect the precious ore stored underground.

With Sergeant Caitlyn Kiramman's Avatar lost in the deep forest of pandora, Ambessa has lost her eyes and ears when it comes to the natives. She quickly finds a replacement in Jayce, who is struggling with his connection to the avatar.

Thus pushing him to go against his fellow scientists and her daughter, the head administrator Mel Medarda, by spying, reporting back to her and finding a way to force the na'vi out of their habitat, in exchange promising all the necessary resources and specialist back on earth to heal Viktor.
