thoughts on 2010 ford fusions? specifically of the silver variety?
Tumblr media
this one in particular?
Ah, the car the Model S would have been had it not been for the Mercedes CLS!
We never got them here. I always dug the styling though, it seemed incredibly sleek when I read a review of it on the Top Gear magazine - I may misremember, but I think I waited to see them around with bated breath not having realized they were US only.
Also the padlock system is great. Would've saved us a lot of headaches.
Though you asked specifically about silver, so I must say I don't think silver is a color this car is at its best in. And actually, I think it's a color nigh on no car is at its best in, which makes me absolutely infuriated at its overwhelming popularity that cannot be explained by anything but dealers wanting their cars to be inoffensive enough never to be turned down (which means most cars ordered are silver, making most cars sold silver) over their color and people being so sad as to value the opinion of the person they will sell their car to more than their own (which of course means that the only people who will actually pay more for silver cars are the ones who think that someone will pay more for silver cars). The popularity of silver is entirely manufactured by vicious circles that the population seems to be too indifferent to break, all at the expense of the poor used car buyers that find themselves fuck any examples that aren't finished in the Chaplin palette. I understand some people will be stuck with whatever the dealership had on the lot, but that can't be near most! For Christ's sake, a new car is the biggest purchase save for your damn house and you're not even going to care what color it has???? Why, because your imaginary second owner may not like yellow? Did you also consult your neighbor on the kind of girl he's into before dating? And yeah, some people genuinely like silver and they do them, but also, their car would pop a lot more if the parking lot was full of ACTUAL COLORS.
*inhales* *exhales*
In case you're curious what I'd pick instead, maroon seems to fit it - and whoever silver buyers are trying to impress will find it more distinguished than garish.

The rear motor mount on a Ford Fusion is torn, causing the engine to move a lot.
When motor mounts are torn, worn or broken, drivers can feel the motor or transmission move when they shift out of park into drive or reverse. A thud or pop might be heard.
There may also be a slight vibration felt at idle. This vibration tends to go away when the vehicle is in neutral or park, because the motor isn’t in the locked and ready position.

Fuel for Life
A message for Akron Alliance Fellowship Church, Akron OH, Sunday, September 15, 2024: When I was in the market for an automobile three years ago, I wanted to find a capable replacement for my 2012 Ford Fusion.  I appreciated the longevity of my car in that I had reached a laudatory 284,000 miles.  But a couple of big repair bills indicated it was time for a newer car.  I paid a visit to Steve…

Ford Fusion Years To Avoid
The Ford Fusion has been a popular midsize sedan, but like any car model, certain years may have experienced more issues than others. While it's important to note that individual experiences can vary, here are some model years of the Ford Fusion that have been associated with potential concerns:
2010 and 2013 Ford Fusion: Some owners reported issues with the transmission, including rough shifting and slipping.
2014 Ford Fusion: There were complaints about the transmission and concerns with the electronic power-assist steering.
2013-2016 Ford Fusion Hybrids: Some owners reported issues with the hybrid system, including failures of the coolant pump and other components.
It's crucial to note that not all vehicles from these model years will experience problems, and many may be well-maintained and trouble-free. When considering any used car, it's a good idea to obtain a vehicle history report and have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic. Additionally, checking online forums, reviews, and reliability ratings for the specific model year can provide more insight into common issues. To learn more interesting facts about the Ford Fusion visit autonationx.com.
Car models can vary from year to year, and while some years may have common issues or recalls, it's essential to research each specific model year rather than making generalizations. To determine which years of the Ford Fusion might be more prone to issues, consider the following steps:
Transmission Issues (Pre-2017): Some Ford Fusion models, especially those manufactured before 2017, had reported issues with the transmission. Owners reported problems such as rough shifting and transmission failures. It's advisable to check the service history and inquire about any transmission-related repairs.
Consumer Reports and Reliability Ratings: Check reliable sources like Consumer Reports for reviews and reliability ratings for each specific model year of the Ford Fusion. This can give you an idea of any recurring issues or patterns.
Electrical Issues: Some Ford Fusion owners have reported electrical problems, including issues with the SYNC infotainment system and electrical accessories. Ensure that all electronic features are working properly during a test drive.
Brake Issues: There have been reports of premature brake wear in certain Ford Fusion models. Inspect the brakes and inquire about any brake-related maintenance or replacements.
Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs): Look into recalls and TSBs for the Ford Fusion. Recalls indicate serious safety issues, while TSBs address known problems that may not be safety-related but could affect performance.
Owner Reviews: Read owner reviews on websites like Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, or other automotive forums. Real-world experiences from owners can provide valuable insights into the pros and cons of specific model years.
Test Drive and Inspection: If possible, test drive the specific Ford Fusion you are interested in, and consider having a trusted mechanic inspect the car before purchasing. This can help identify any potential issues or signs of wear and tear.
Overall Maintenance History: A complete and well-documented maintenance history is crucial. Regular maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, and other routine services, contributes to the overall longevity and reliability of the vehicle.
Model Facelifts or Redesigns: Generally, the first model year of a new generation or a major redesign may have more issues as manufacturers work out initial bugs. Conversely, the last model year of a generation may benefit from years of refinements.
Verify Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): Run a vehicle history report using the VIN to check for any accidents, title issues, or odometer discrepancies. This report can provide valuable information about the car's past.
Remember that regular maintenance and prompt addressing of issues can significantly impact the longevity and performance of any vehicle. Always check the vehicle's history report and consider having a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic to ensure you're making an informed decision.

Has the engine temperature light (which resembles a thermostat) appeared on your dashboard? Did you notice a green, pink, red, orange or yellow puddle near your car? Have you been told that your vehicle’s coolant level is low?
If any of these are the case, then you might have a coolant leak. This can occur when parts – such as the radiator, water pump, thermostat or heater hoses – need to be replaced.
The cooling system prevents a car from overheating. So, if it has low coolant, make sure to have it checked out by an automotive expert.

A Ford Fusion is going to need a new windshield washer fluid pump. Power is going to the pump, but the pump isn’t turning on.
If the sprayers aren’t working correctly, have an automotive expert look into what’s causing the problem.
It’s also a good idea to make sure the right windshield washer fluid is used in your vehicle. You will want the fluid’s temperature protection level to be good to negative 40 degrees.
