I finished The Kings Men yesterday and purely for the record, I would like to state that for 2.9/3 books I viscerally hated every minute of reading this series STAY WITH ME DONT SCROLL but Jesus fucking christ those last 10 minutes (I listened to the shitty audio books for all 3 because I could not bear to read it) changed the entire thing.

Why am I now plagued by thoughts of Andrew Minyard and all the words he's ever said and all the moments he stripped his walls away painstakingly slow and how Neil filled those cracks and Andrew said Neil's the only one who lets Andrew say no and how Andrew blocked the stick from Riko and the shower and him reaching for Neil though he was cuffed to wymack and the roof and the cigarettes and the scars and the blood and the knives and the trauma behind it all

Foxes Headcanons (Modern Day: Social Media Edition)

•Neil Josten uses social media after canon.

^ he posts the most vague shit ever and dark humor posts. He also has an anonymous hate page full of Riko Moriyama being clumsy or clips from the game where he lost against the foxes.

^^ he uses audios on TikTok and other socials that imply he’s fallen for someone he was on a team with and just lets the fan base assume it was Matt bc the whole Andrew/Neil rivalry. He likes to see reactions.

•Andrew starts to do art to express himself.

^He has a few anonymous art accounts throughout a few platforms and posts like twice a week on each. Hes really popular on TikTok and insta.

^^Neil stumbles across his content and realizes it’s him because he posted a picture he drew and sat on his dresser. Neil doesn’t tell him but frequently visits the accounts bc he wants to see Andrews art but knows he isn’t comfortable sharing in person or he would have.

•Matt and Dan would be influencers.

^ Matt mostly does sports equipment rating and reviews but he also does goofy ass videos with the rest of the foxes. Dan would do a lot about woman rights and activism in general. Big supporter of the LBGTQ.

^^ I like to think they’d occasionally do videos where Dan reviews make up products but uses them on Matt instead. They’re usually silly.

•Aaron takes pictures of every drink he gets from Starbucks and is obsessed. He is a Starbucks girly and has over 200000 pts on the app.

^He saves the pts to use when he’s desperate and for whatever reason didn’t have his wallet on hand.

^^^Starbucks deadass sponsors him.

•Kevin doesn’t do socials and just hired people to run accounts for him.

^ He does the photo shoots and tells them specifically what photos to use. He also puts interview clips so people often time think they’re just fan accounts.

^^he also records and post one singular video a month on his TikTok about upcoming games which serves as reminder that it isn’t a fan account.

•Allison uses her reach as a Sport player to advertise her clothing line.

^ She she has posts with lines such as casual wear, athletic wear, business casual/proffesional wear, and normalizes business making plus size clothes.

^^ she makes a few different lines for her friends and never posts them or sells them to the public. This includes armbands for Andrew, bandanas for Neil, one of a kind pride outfits for all the gay bitches on the team (let’s be real they’re all fruity), fox themed shirts for casual wear (even after they stop playing for the foxes)

•Seth hates social media and doesn’t have any.

^ He MIGHT have another fox run one for him and doesn’t interact at all.

^^ He lets the other foxes post him on their socials but doesn’t want one of his own.

•Rene does a lot of advocacy things on hers.

^ She shares her story about how Christianity and exy helped her.

^^ She doesn’t want to seem like she’s forcing Christianity. She says “having any kind of faith”

•Nicky posts a lot of random shit

Me when I don't see this ask/submission for what I think has been a couple years

But thank you so so so so much for the ask!!!! Honestly, quite a bit has changed about Kyo and her dynamics since I've been working with my brother and throwing more magical girls into the mix, so I'll respond with how she is in her current iteration!

1) What Magia Record character would/could your OC be good friends with?

Kyo unfortunately is still not one to have super close friends, however I could definitely see her having mad respect for Karin (while she was still in her stealing grief seeds phase) since Kyo basically does the same thing lmao

As Kyo gets softer and more willing to accept that hey, maybe being friends with people isn't a super terrible thing and I don't have to hold my cards so close to my chest all the time she would probably have a soft spot for any of the younger magical girls. Nagisa, Riko, Yuma, etc. And because of Riko's proximity to Ashley, they'd probably get along too.

Also I'd like to mention here that I jokingly ship Kyo with Ria because I just think it would be very funny

2) What Magia Record character would your OC HATE?

I know I just said that Kyo has a soft spot for the younger magical girls, but she would probably hate Touka's guts lol

There's a character within the story I'm making with my brother that really reminds me of Touka too, super smart child prodigy who is insufferable because they know they're smarter than everyone else in the room. And Kyo hates her so that translates well to Touka lol

Probably wouldn't like Kanagi for a similar reason, she's not a fan of authority. Even though Kanagi most definitely is chill, Kyo would just be rubbed the wrong way knowing that she's such a big shot in the magical girl community. If they talked for a bit though they could probably come to an understanding.

4) Would your OC have joined the Wings of Magius if given the chance? Why or why not?

Oh, most definitely. Kyo hates authority, but loves taking the easy way out of situations more. I doubt she would ever meet the Magius face to face, so she's safe from the headache that would come from being in the same room as them lololololol

6) How does your OC feel about Mirrors? Do they avoid it, go there to practice, or want to solve its mysteries-- or do they have a different motivation?

Kyo would avoid Mirrors like the plague lmao

She'd go a couple times to get a feel for it, thinking maybe since she also has powers related to the distortion of perception (she just has illusion powers) she'd have a sense of understanding of how mirrors worked. That view quickly crumbled the first time she saw a clone of herself, and then left and never looked back.

but i literally. think about andrew a lot and how much he worries. he’s worries about the people he loves coming to harm and he worries he’s not enough to stop it happening again and he really truly deeply fears that if it does happen again it will be by his own hand. i know he comes across as very apathetic (as part of nora’s way to keep the curtain closed) but being called a monster has to have some effect on u esp when you know what real monsters are capable of

and MORE THAN THAT i think andrew worries a lot about kevin. i think thats why he stays so so close to him when he gives nicky and aaron and even neil a degree of physical separation. bc kevin is so dependant on andrew by the nature of their deal he really relies on andrew to be there. and i think that closeness only really dawns on andrew after he strangles him and kevin evidently just forgives it

for andrew trust really is a terrible thing bc it makes people blind. how many times did aaron go back to their mother? how many times did riko hurt kevin before he left? i think to kevin it really isn’t comparable, andrew and riko, but kevin quotably, ‘can’t tell riko no’, and andrew knows that. and it must really eat away at him, being entrusted with someone who doesn’t have the capacity to protect themselves from harm

Aftg headcanons

I firmly believe that the foxes banded together after tkm to get Neil a smartphone

Mostly so they could track him at all times, but also so that they could video call each other when they graduated and moved away

At first Neil had trouble understanding that he had People Who Cared About Him enough that he could just. call. Whenever.

But after that one time where he needed something sports-related from Matt and decided to call him, and Matt picked up in the middle of a bench press, no questions asked, and stayed that way until he’d finished helping Neil ten minutes later, Neil realizes the power he holds

He calls everyone all the time now

For the smallest things

He’ll call Renee to show her a pretty flower, then he’ll add Matt and Nicky to the call to show them the squirrel a few feet behind it

Matt calls Dan, who calls Allison, etc etc etc, until it’s one big fox group call

These calls can last for hours, to the chagrin of the other people around them

Even Andrew joins, if only to prop the phone against a pot plant while he does something else and occasionally winds in and out of frame

Aaron also joins, but not as much

Mostly he’ll tune in to see one thing and then mute the call instead of leaving to continue studying

Nicky, of course, is the one who most often instigates these mass calls

Once, someone added Wymack to a call. nobody knows who. most suspect Andrew, on charge of chaotic tomfoolery, but nothing has of yet been confirmed

Wymack said exactly one thing: “fuck off” and then he left

The fox group chat is now affectionately called “fuck off”, and Wymack laughed his head off when Kevin showed him

Speaking of the group chat, I am adamant that Neil is the main minion meme provider

As soon as Dann and Nicky introduced him to memes, he could not get enough of them

He has a whole Pinterest board of memes

But not the tasteful ones

The kinds that middle aged soccer moms send on Facebook groups

He finds them all hilarious; but literally nobody else does

Eventually he makes his way onto TikTok and becomes super famous for his botched dances and compilations of Andrew saying increasing percentages

(Nobody knows what the percentages mean, but there are multiple running theories. Some more outlandish than others.)

But things REALLY get good when Neil discovers Rickrolling

There are a few pages on tiktok that circulate videos that have been edited to cut to Rickrolls, which Neil needed explained to him first (Nicky was very helpful)

He goes through a love-hate relationship with the meme, as it makes him experience intense (Riko-)levels of anger, but on the other hand he also finds them funny as hell

He sends along every Rickroll tiktok he finds to the group chat, which always starts a shouting match

“FUCK YOU NEIL, I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THEY MIXED RED BULL WITH PEPSI.” (Nicky)

“Literally nothing, dipshit.” (Aaron)

“🖕.” (Andrew)

“That’s not very nice, Andrew.” (Dan)

“Why are we not talking about how he put a fullstop after an emoji????” (Nicky)

One day Neil realizes he can make his OWN rickrolls

He’s gotten into the habit of sending video messages; I.e. filming himself talking and sending that, rather than typing or recording an audio

It has to do with his rising self esteem and so on and so forth but that’s for another post

And eventually he just. clicks. That he can stick Rickrolls onto the ends of these videos

And the foxes will watch them every time

But there’s just one problem.

He has no idea how.

These days, the foxes play RickRoll Roulette with all of Neil’s videos, because they never know which are genuine communications and which are memes

They’re wrong every time

But nobody knows yet that Andrew is the one who edits the videos for Neil.

So the Magia Record anime just aired its series finale and holy cow it was a literal sh*t show. Some thoughts, some facts and more below! I will probably need to write a part 2.

WARNING FOR SPOILERS DON´T COMPLAIN AFTERWARDS

Okay before we get into the mess that was the writing and animation, some debuts first. Here are the following magical girls that made their debut in these final episodes: - Kanoko - Hanna Sasara (School Uniform only) - Masara - Aimi - Kokoro - Asuka - Sasara - Riko, Natsuki and Konomi (First non-doppel and afterwards as Magical Girls) - Ayaka - Ren (Magical Girl form debut) - Rika (first visual debut, only was heard before) - Emiri - Hinano - Mayu, Ria and Manaka (Magical Girl debut) - Karin (School uniform only) - Madokami - Hagumu (not sure about her) During Kyubey´s speech there was an artistic background that displayed several magical girls including: - Some of the unnamed girls from Madoka Magica episode 12 - Yuuma Chitose - Oriko Mikuni - D´Arc / Tart (Magical Girl form, unlike her civilian self from MM ep 12) - Kazumi - Suzune Amane - Madoka´s ballet form from the concept movie - Cool Homura

There was a really funny shot of Ria in her Magical Girl outfit that I liked, just saying. Before I go on this rant, here is a quick summary of what I´m going to say: Rushed - Bad Writing all over the place - Underused Characters - overused character - Literally pointless story

Where do I start? Okay lets start with who and why they kicked the bucket! That´s always fun! Momoko and Mifuyu: Oh boy this did piss off a lot of people and rightfully so! Mifuyu cheated death during the game´s main story and this is a more fitting way for her to go down. Still very bad decision. Talking about very bad decision: Momoko joining Mifuyu on her suicide mission. It was a very touching moment and kinda fitting for these two since they are really protective of those who are in need. But what made this decision so bad was the fact that their friendship has not been established well enough to justify their decision. Yes we know they used to be friends but how close were they? We don´t know that. There have always been rumors that someone on the writing staff wanted Momoko gone and now it´s happened. If it had been Momoko and Mitama it would have been more reasonable since they are much closer but oh well. Rest in peace sheep grandma and bad timing big sis, you deserved better. Touka, Nemu and Ui: I dont know where to start with these three. There was an event in the game that dealt with the aftermath of their actions and had Nemu and Touka want to die in order to atone for their sins. Well unlucky with the game, the anime granted them their wish. After losing control over Eve they lock Iroha up and summon their doppels to literally suicide bomb launch themselves into Eve. Ui, still inside lil Kyubey, joins them and they FAIL at killing Eve. I don´t know what else to say, that´s three dead children. I mean their goal was to save Iroha and they somewhat managed to do that (I say somewhat since the doppels are bad and probably gone they just delayed her death). Alina: Talking about underused characters. She had an amazing start in season 1 and disappeared during season 2 only to show up again. She was pretty in character for most of season 3 until it was time for her Holy Alina debut. So she shows up, fuses her doppel with Eve and in turns becomes part of Eve´s body. Her plan is to turn everyone into magical girls to see all of humanity witch out. It happens so fast and without magical artist playing that you are just confused as to whats happening. She doesn´t even fight and just flies after Walpurgisnacht. She survives the attack from Nemu and Touka only to be blasted to death by Iroha and Yachiyo. Bye Bye Amazing Artist you deserved so much more. Kuroe:

I know people will hate me for this but Kuroe was a bad character that took up too much time that the anime didnt have. She didnt do anything important other than showing us how good a person Iroha is. Overcome by her insecurities and guilt over someone probably dying because of her she leaves Kamihama in her doppel syndrome to witch out. Afterwards Iroha stabs her witch to death. Bye bye you underwhelming character. She was always insecure and aware of her weakness but the anime wasting time to build her up only to dispose of her in the end is brutal. This is time that could have gone towards Alina.

Some things I liked about this finale is seeing all of the local magical girls show up to help injured people and fight Eve. Alina trying to get strawberry milk was a nice detail. Rena and Kaede had some wholesome moments. Now to the worst part: The ending and what it implies. The story ends with the Magius and Ui being dead, Momoko being dead and leaving behind her friends, Mifuyu having died saving the feathers and Kuroe being irrelevant once again. The doppel system is probably gone (and was very bad in the anime) and the city is in ruins. The story ends with the entire city and its girls being in a worse condition than at the beginning, which renders everything that has happened pointless. The magius plan failed completly and everyone dying as the result of it was meaningless. Even worse is the fact that it´s implied that Madoka and the others died as well since we see Homura leaving the current timeline after the end credits. So its back to square one with nothing to build on. At least the original anime ended on a hopefull note but not this one. Also Yachiyo only caring about Iroha and not giving two f*cks that Momoko and Mifuyu died is insulting to her character (which is handled much better in the game). It´s almost funny how the anime tried to squeeze both Karin and Madokami into the final scene as reminder that they did not forgot about them. People died over nothing and even though the anime shows us the Kamihama Magia Union is going to happens means nothing since without the doppel and system there is no way for them to save magical girls. Season 3 bad, me no likey.

foxes phrases

when you spend a lot of together with the same people, sometimes you start to pick up on each other's language and this just becomes like a level of normalized inside jokes with the foxes

firstly, they all have bits of The Riko Roast at least partially memorized and they all use parts of it here and there (ex: nicky is whining during his missing Erik hours and allison goes "aww are you having iNtRIcaTe aNd EndLeSs daddy issues?") but most frequently used is just "you know, i get it"

"i hate this fucking family". (I've seen this in sm tfc posts and i think it's wonderful) this is used over the smallest things: Nicky is outnumbered in what restaurant to go to, Allison is in pain when nobody can tell the different shades of nail polish apart, Aaron is called a simp when he gets off a phone call with katelyn, Kevin is horrified when neil messes up basic us history.. he later finds out he does it on purpose, matt is coerced into trying octopus at a restaurant, wymack is buried under a pile of sweaty kids after winning a game, etc.. and has lost any meaning

this isn't a phrase but they are athletic jocky jocks so they refer to each other by their last names to emphasize like...toughness (fuck off josten, look alive reynolds, what's the matter day) but specifically it's just "shut up [...]"

"what in the name of the everliving fuckity fuck"... or some variation of one of wymacks catchphrases (let's be honest the foxes have practically trademarked most of the things that come out of his mouth) Dan was once recording a video of aaron and neil arm wrestling and it wasn't until they watched it back that they heard Wymack in the background shout this from his office and from then on everybody uses it..and it works for more occasions than you'd think

"god damn it, neil". they've all heard this used more times than they can count and nobody even recognizes when exactly it is that the team starts saying it but they use it for literally e v e r y t h i n g. neil doesn't even respond to it anymore so matt has to nudge him to let him know when someone is actually talking to him because everyone around them uses it. neil himself uses it. Renee uses it. lord knows Wymack uses it. but the best is when Aaron uses it for the first time, at a point where he and neil are grudgingly building up their relationship. his head shoots up when he realizes what he's said and neil is already grinning at him. Aaron rubs at his forehead in self disappointment and the others burst out laughing

"no Kevin..you fuckin weirdo". (from that vine, you better know it) the foxes introduce neil to vine and he becomes so freaking annoying about it (he and Aaron will literally have conversations composed entirely of insulting vines) but when he first pulls this one out on Kevin (all poor Kevin asked was for Neil to pass him his textbook) everyone loses their shit and they all start using it. it was banned rather quickly tho when they were clowning around during a practice and Kevin shouted "CAN'T YOU GUYS AT LEAST PRETEND TO PUT IN ANY EFFORT" and, in horrifying unison, everyone on the court goes "no kevin..fucking weirdo" and Kevin nearly starts crying. he coincidentally had an appointment with bee and spends nearly fifty minutes going "i hate this fucking family"

I was going to have all his kids hate him but celi was like "at least give him ONE KID THAT DOESN’T HATE HIM." and I was like "hm. okay." and thus the youngest was conceptualized 😭

gojo is honestly the sweetest with her. like I said before, riko got the horrible horrible brunt of gojo’s learning curve, but the youngest? she gets everything. rip!mc is honestly worried she’ll be spoiled rotten to the point of no return bc gojo literally goes above and beyond in indulging her, and she loves gojo so much, with her entire heart, and she makes sure he knows it!!! gojo keeps every single ugly drawing she’s ever made for him. which is a lot. and has like 6 folders on his phone with pictures and recordings he's taken of her. she's also the only one that lets him take pictures.

the youngest is always so happy to get alone time with gojo (none of his other kids give him the time of the day LMAO) and loves spending time with him.

gojo took her to school one day (it was her first week of kindergarten) and she gave him a kiss and a hug and everything but then wouldn’t let go of him. she tearfully told him she didn’t want to go school so gojo was like alright. and took her to disney instead (rip!mc was not. pleased.)

she tells everyone she has “the best dad ever” and the two of them are generally attached to the hip. when she was a baby gojo didn’t want to let go of her. she was also the only kid that would let him hold her for more than five minutes

the kids get along great!!! it’s a very tight knit family. they get into their fair share of arguments and disagreements like any normal family. unfortunately, more times than not, there is destruction involved (riko is the main perpetrator)

there’s good-natured ribbing between riko and the first son. she teases him over being gojo’s exact copy and once riko was there when a woman stormed over to him and told him he looked exactly like that “good for nothing man that broke her heart!!” recording the entire thing. riko and the eldest son are great older siblings. riko looks after each and every one, and is prepared to fight anyone who says anything. but if the other kids are going to someone for advice it’s going to be the eldest son....he’s just more capable 😭 gojo’s looks are enough. thank god he didn’t inherit the personality

everyone in the family has a soft spot for the youngest aka the baby of the family. and they are never more united as siblings until they’re making fun of gojo LOL

for mother’s day they all came together and gave rip!mc a card saying she “could do so much better” and voiced their agreement that they would support her if she decided to seperate from gojo while he was. standing. right there. holding a bouquet of flowers. his kids are his worst enemy

but then they had to stop because the youngest erupted into tears and loud sobbing because she was so distressed by the thought of having to choose between her parents. both of whom she loves dearly. the eldest son had to scoop her up into his arms and reassure her with a “it’s just a joke” while giving a sweating gojo a long hard look 😁

I think Dalton must have come across one interview and just went down the rabbit hole. Maybe even Neil’s roasts?? Sorry this is a looong ask post

he knows he shouldn’t, not unless kevin says it’s okay, but dalton googles kevin after he leaves maryland to go back to south carolina.

it's not like he’s going to find anything bad.  and plus, he loves kevin.  and kevin loves him.  he’d just told him this week for the first time.

the top result is a buzzed article titled “kevin day had a near photoshoot with fans in times square, and we’re definitely jealous”.  below it are the most recent things like him coming out, and videos of him playing.

dalton refines his search.  specifically to last spring and fall.  his first year stepping onto the foxhole court as a player.

the first thing to come up is an interview with kathy ferdinand, neil josten, and riko moriyama.

dalton knows enough about riko moriyama for it to make his blood boil.

he also doesn’t realize that the brunette in the cover photo for the video is neil until he watches him get introduced to the stage.  he’s known from the second he saw neil that he’d been through some tough shit, but he didn’t realize it was all from last year.  the neil in the interview is clean.

also, he’s gawking over neil by the end of the interview.  he has to rewatch it to fully get it all.  kevin’s talked about neil and his attitude, and dalton’s experienced it maybe once, but holy shit he tore riko moriyama to shreds.

the only reason he isn’t laughing at how badass it is is because he can see how traumatized kevin looks.  if he hadn’t known him, he wouldn’t have noticed, but dalton knows his body language by now.  seeing him truly terrified with his abuser right there makes dalton want to wrap his arms around him.  he wishes he wasn’t already back in south carolina.

he runs his hands over his face and reruns neil’s words in his head.

“i don’t think you’re telling Kevin to sit out because of his health. i think you know this season is going to be a disaster for your reputation. you and kevin have always played in each other’s shadows. you’ve always been a pair. now you have to face each other on the court as rivals for the first time, and people are finally going to know which one of you is better. they’re going to know how premature this was. i think you’re scared.”

it gives him more insight on kevin and riko’s relationship, and while he wishes he never had to see it recorded, he’s glad he does.  with the way neil’s talking, it seems like he’d known all about it, too.  or else he wouldn’t openly be hating on riko the way he was.

after that, and after calming himself down from literally seeing kevin’s abuser and thanking god that he’s dead, he continues on.  the majority of the other videos are from press duty after games, and he clicks on a reoccurring one titled “KEVIN DAY NEVER BEEN SKIING???”  dalton knows this, and he also knows that the public thought that he’d broken his hand in a skiing accident, so he’s curious enough to click on it.

he gasps so hard.  it’s just such a blunt statement that so obviously dumbfounded all of the press trying to interview them.

he keeps going.

dalton wishes he could see it, but he knocks that thought right out because he’s proud of kevin for being sober.

“speaking french with kevin day at the mall: AWKWARD”  that one is from this summer with subtitles at the bottom.  the girl goes up to him, and he doesn’t seem to see her coming until she’s in front of him.  “bonjour!”  kevin says, “oh, hello.”

when she continues in french to ask how his day is he makes the switch.  “do you speak english?”  “yes, i just knew you spoke french, sorry”  “oh… it’s okay, uh, do you mind not recording me?”  she lowers her phone a little.  “it’s still recording.”  “it’s not, anymore.”  “okay, well, i’ve got to go”  neil calls him you can see his feet shuffle.  “bye.”

then there’s one’s where he’s roasting interviewers.

“why don’t you smile for us?”  “smiling won’t make a difference in any of my answers.  next question.”

“you came out, just this week, to be dating a man.  any change in positions, if you know what i mean?”  she laughs.  kevin leans back, catching matt’s eye.  “what an embarrassing question.  that’ll be all.  matt, let’s go.”

“i’m sorry about the death of riko moriyama, but the way.  to have someone of a brother go in such a way must have been hard for you, yes?”  “well, good thing we were never brothers.”  he adds on.  “i don’t appreciate you actively trying to get a reaction out of me.  i think we’re done here?  yes?”

“now that he’s off his drugs, is andrew minyard a threat to the team?”  “why would you think that?”  “well, we all know his timeline, his history”  “time is a social construct.  i’ll go find andrew to take my spot, if we’re not going to focus on the game.”

“surely you guys must get plenty of girls drooling over you, with what such an intense workout regimen does!”  “girls aren’t animals.  educate yourself, please.”

that’s the one that dalton sends to carmen.  he can’t help it.   she loves it, texts him back a series of keyboard smashes and heart eye emojis.  A FEMINIST. 

the next time dalton uses his laptop it’s to look up a tutorial with kevin.  he stops and turns the screen when dalton scrambles to open a new tab.

“so how much have you seen?”

dalton cringes, but sinks into kevin’s side.  “kathy?  and... the croissants,” he whispers, and-

“jesus christ.”  kevin gets up and heads to dalton’s bathroom to shower.  “it’s pronounced croissant!”

HAHAHAHAHA I HATE THIS

WHY WAS THIS GOOD?!

If y’all know me and have read all my BLCD reviews (if you have, I don’t know what to say to you), you’d know that I hate idol plots. And I quote myself in my review for Sakura Riko’s Kimi wa Hiniku na Kirakira Boushi: “Let’s not be beating around the bush here, plots like these have only their sex scenes worth noting and I’m honestly so sick of that.” Now, was Namamono any different? HECK NO! 😂 But damn, the execution and writing was everything! It was like Customer Masquerade and Kimitte Yatsu wa Konnani mo! The works I’ve mentioned are obviously better written and I don’t think I would have ever picked the manga up on its own, but when you add the BLCD into the mix, it can stand on the same level!

First of all, JUST WHO AND WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU, UCHIDA YUUMA?! I wasn’t familiar with this tone of his and it just wouldn’t click in my head that this was Yuuma talking. It was only after they began romping on the couch that it really sunk into me. Mans used his Etou-san tone for it! Admittedly though, I did think that Yuuma was using too high of a pitch for Rui-san and I would have preferred that he used something around Hisashi (Tori would be perfect for this role), but it grew on me in the end. And oh my goodness! He’s such a great actor! The way he just switches tones is divine! It sounds so effortless and natural—how are you only 28?! Thank yaoi gods for Uchida Yuuma. 😌

As for Egu, this might actually be my favorite of all his performances so far. I don’t think that there would be anyone more perfect to play Hibiki than Egu. His Hibiki was obviously higher than his Kaburagi and Uruji, but this was closer to his natural voice, so he sounded very natural here. I wouldn’t have minded if this was the tone he used for his Akihiko tbh. Hibiki and Akihiko have similar personalities after all (but Hibiki isn’t that much of an asshole). But speaking of Given, is it just me or does he really sound like Makonyan, I’m-

Again, I didn’t look at the full cast list, so me was shookt when I heard Wacchan and OnoYuu speak. IF THEY AIN’T FUCKING THROW THE WHOLE SECOND VOLUME AWAY. Also, how the heck did y’all get OnoYuu to third-wheel again?! 😂 I was already sad when he third-wheeled in Cupid ni Rakurai 2 and now he gets doggo bro-zoned here?! Where was the need to hurt me like this, Ginger Records?! I couldn’t help but ship YunRuiiii 👉👈

AND OH MY GOD MY KARINOXAZUSA-

I’m such a simp for KarinoxAzusa even though it’s so toxic and I want Karino to die/get tortured. 🤧

But speaking of Caste Heaven, both Yuuma and OnoYuu did their roles so differently from their characters there! 👏👏👏 All of our supporting cast here also did their best and everyone (even the fans) were voiced! Gotta give it to Ginger Records for casting and sound direction! I’ve said this in my releases post for this, but this had perfect casting. Just one look at the cover and I instantly knew that the chemistry and execution would be there. Ngl, I was actually even waiting for this pairing to happen. Thank yaoi gods for Ginger Records. #BLESS But you gotta admit, Tori could have been a shoe-in for Kokonoe-san. *cough*Dakaretai Otoko *cough*

We have great plot execution, perfect voice acting and sound direction, and faithfulness to the original content. I would really recommend listening to the BLCD while reading the manga because it just makes it 100% better! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I will be looking forward to the second volume myself. 😂 This has also since been licensed in English by Renta!, so congrats to sensei!

If I was a KNB character.... Uh, I’d be a mixture of Takao (who jokes too much but knows when to be serious... but also provokes people on purpose) and Izuki (who makes too many puns and always cracks one even in serious moments... but also knows when to concentrate, but ALSO loves to annoy his teammates/friends). But I ironically do well in school so there’s that 😳

School wise, I think I answered an ask about this but I’d go to either Seirin or Shūtoku because I like the open, public-school feel of the campuses (even though every single school is a private school LOL).

Who I’d get along most? I’m very much like Kuroko in getting along with a lot of people, but IRL I did have such a huge(?) presence in high school where everyone recognized me by the way I dressed or the reputation I had or preconceptions that they had of me LOL, so I know I’m either liked or hated or at least known😭 I’d get along with the most are: Takao, Izuki, Riko, Kuroko, and surprisingly Midorima (mostly because I’d just be another Takao LOL, but we’d actually be good classmates because I do care about my academic record a little too much). I’d have a lot of fun in a love-hate friendship/rivalry with Imayoshi as classmates LOL and I’d get along okay with Momoi because we both love to shop and explore around! I’d get along with Ore-Akashi, where we can talk about controversial topics together in a socratic seminar discussion together LOL and we both share common ground of playing string instruments (I used to play viola until I graduated, needless to say I was NOT a prodigy 😭). Surprisingly, I don’t think I would get along with Kise IRL, just because I’m always quite wary of popular people because they do tend to have an ego or some degree of two-facedness (and I have a very... accute social radar so I can easily detect when something’s off about a person). I wouldn’t hesitate to call him out in front of everyone, and I’ve done it to someone of similar status before LMAO Only way if Kise and I would get along is if we’re grouped together on a partner project and we have to learn about each other or something ?? But that being said, Kise and I do share the same passion for fashion and beauty so ig there’s that? I think I can get along with Hayama and Mibuchi very well! I can easily match Hayama’s energy but also know when to reprimand his behavior along with Mibuchi. Surprisingly can get along with Mayuzumi; we can read a shit ton of novels together and just vibe~ Definitely wouldn’t get along with Haizaki LOL DEFINITELY won’t be able to vibe with Alex—I’m staying FAR away from her🏃🏻‍♀️💨

Assuming this is like a **romantic** match, so again I can see myself with Takao easily by far. Izuki too? I guess that’s a given LMAO uhhh, I think Kuroko would be very sweet and also know how to vibe with me and also tolerate me HSHAHA I can actually see myself with Kasamatsu, where I’d loosen him up and just always push him to take it easier while he can remind me when to get serious and all... like flustering him sounds hilarious LMAOO anywho, I do not know who else would be a match for me bc I’m not exactly prime dating material so🧍🏻‍♀️maybe that’s for you to speculate LNDIWBRIWJWIABDHS
