Channel Mixer For Dummies <3

hello again! welcome to photopea for dummies, the series where eos tries to explain things. today, we’re covering an adjustment layer—channel mixer! (why do i do these things to myself)

first things first: what is channel mixer? put simply, channel mixer is a layer that lets you target the individual color channels of your image: red, green, and blue. what does that mean? it means it lets you fuck up your colors.

channel mixer has four channels: red, green, blue, and gray. gray is the simplest, found by opening channel mixer and clicking the button below the channel options that says monochromatic. gray makes your image… gray. it’s more or less a copycat black & white layer, which is something for another time.

how do you use channel mixer? you adjust the various channels, naturally! the main thing to bear in mind with channel mixer is that everything must add to 100. if you’re really bad at arithmetic you can use a calculator. this does include negatives: -200 + 200 + 100 = 100! you might be thinking, but isn’t that the same as just leaving one channel at one hundred? you’d think so, wouldn’t you? but you’d be wrong.

the way i figured out channel mixer was by duplicating some fairly simple settings, and then i started messing around a bit more once i was comfortable. here are some nice colorings to use in your psds!

— author’s note: the moodboard i used here to showcase these settings is, admittedly, super ugly. i like to test my psds on a variety of cards to see how it works with different lighting, coloring, and atmospheres!

channel: red settings: red slider 200%, green slider 100%, blue slider -200%

this setting is a good way to split your colors into primary colors: red, blue, and yellow. i like using this when making a red or yellow focused psd, as it’s easier to eliminate blue this way. you can also see this setting in the example image above

channel: green settings: red slider 35%, green slider 30%, blue slider 35%

this settings softens the blues and reds, eliminates magenta, and darkens green. i usually add this somewhere in the middle of my psds at about 60% opacity if i want my reds to be less aggressive, as red can tend to be. you can also see this setting in the example image above.

channel: blue settings: red slider 75%, green slider 200%, blue slider -25%

this setting is a personal favorite of mine, and you can see it in a lot of my edits! it puts an emphasis on blue and red, eliminating magenta and green completely. it also makes your yellows much more orange-ish, which i prefer, because yellow is a nightmare color. you can also see this setting in the example image above.

channel: red settings: red slider 150%, green slider 20%, blue slider -70% channel: green settings: green slider 70%, blue slider 30%

this setting is a bit more subtle than the others, having the most effect on mafuyu (sorry mafu) because it strips the purple from her card and makes it blue. this setting makes blues into more of a cyan, and makes yellows into orange.

channel: red settings: red slider 150%, green slider -30%, blue slider -20% channel: green settings: red slider -10%, green slider 0%, blue slider 110%

you’re probably thinking, jesus christ eos my eyes are bleeding, what would you use this for? and the answer is: not much, honestly. those setting makes magentas, blues and cyans into a very greenish cyan, and turns yellow and green into a dark red. (please be careful when using this one, as most skin tones are classed as red. don’t make your people look like a firetruck.) i like to use this one when i’m trying to get rid of green or magenta. maybe lower the opacity a bit.

in all seriousness, there is no right way to use channel mixer. you can use it to completely change the coloring of your image, or to do some fairly simple color correction. as per usual, it’s just best to fuck around and find out. good luck!

Hi anon sorry for the long wait for this, unfortunately the more I looked at my psds for this gifset the more things I saw that just aren't like basic gifing knowledge. I simply did not know where to start. Anyways I tried to go and find the tutorials that helped me when I was just learning those techniques or wtv inspired me to use them instead, because they are all very details and explain way better than I could, along the way I'll give you a few tips to make your life easier

My very first tip would be to not do all those things at the same time, learn one technique at a time please, for your own sanity

STEP 0 : basic gifs

You need to have basic gifmaking knowledge, if you don't here's a good tutorial that pretty much touch everything

Here's a few tips for when you are about to start :

You need to have an idea of what you want to do before you start cutting anything aka

what's the theme of the gifset : that will help you separate how many concepts you gonna have because of that theme

once you have the concept : how many gifs are necessary to get the concept across and what lines from the show are you gonna use, how would you write those lines and your own comments to be as clear as possible (I advises test them by sending them to friends when you are done before publishing)

what is the layout of each gif gonna look like, do you need to search (pixabay or vectorstock) for some shapes in png

Once you have like most of that, you can start choosing scenes and cutting but not before because trust me you gonna over work if you don't do this

Example : So my theme was Yak being a green flag, I have 6 big gifs and 9 concepts, I fit a lot of those concepts together, but in total I have base 23 gifs

It is important that every gifs of a concept that is gonna end on the same background gif have the same amount of frames as the big gif

Make, color and save each gifs individually, so if you fuck up, you can always just go get your base gif again, name them in relationship of the final gif

Example : the final gif is named green1 so every gif in there are named green1,1 - green1,2 - green1,3

Please for the love of god, name and/or give numbers to everything and make groups in the PSD! You won't be able to find yourself in this mess if you don't do this : To make groups you can either, select what you want to group -> CTRL + G or select what you want to group -> right click -> Group from layers

You need to be able to manipulate colors, to enhance them, change them and neutralize them

This was done with Step 4 of Becca's tutorial, because the colors of the scene was easy to manipulate

This was done by making the gif as neutral as possible with channel mixer and then putting a gradient fill on because I was lazy, gradient fill is a mix of step 3 of becca's tutorial and hanyi's gradient fill, I usually do that when I can't just manipulate the colors the gif already has easily

STEP 2 : clipping mask

The easiest way to me to have a bunch of other gifs on a bigger gif in any kinda shapes to me is clipping

Tips :

Start by making your shape on the background gif to know so you can play with the layout of everything and see what looks good before adding any gif

When you make shapes (in my case a rectangle) in photoshop it tells you the height and the width of the shape, so when you are gonna clip your gif to that shape, I suggest cropping it in your base gif around like 30px more than what those are before you duplicate it in your big gif, that helps to have room to move your duplicated gif around when you are done clipping it to the shape

When you are done cropping the gif you gonna clip into the shape, convert to smart -> dupplicate in your big gif -> clip to shape

Example : the rectangle is around 150px width and 240px (or something), my duplicated gif was cut 180px 270px (or something) just so i can be free to move it when it's clipped

The yellow and green sticking out of the shapes are drop shadow added for drama and the tape is literally just searching for a tape png I put on it

STEP 3 : layout from scratch

The 3rd gif layout was made from scratch because I only had 3 gifs for that idea, and also I didn't want to look like the others so the gifset wouldn't be too one tone because I'm genuinely mentally ill

STEP 4 : fonts and other minor stuff

I'm only gonna explain the GREEN FLAGS text because all the other colored texts are just a variation of that without the outline and with a different font, Gradient text tutorial says it all, here are my settings for this gifset

Kate's quick textstyles tutorial by aubrey-plaza

I use the technique on Gif 3 from step 4 and on (minus the outer glow) of Kate's tutorial, and made the stroke layer italic to make the outline of GREEN FLAGS

In the end, the layers are stacked like this

Now for the rest there isn't really any tutorial but here goes nothing

For the white text, I just put enough drop shadow for everything to be easy enough to read, for that I play with the opacity of the layer

And the little white lines are made with the line tool, to make the line continues just hold shift while you are making them

I hope all of this made sense, my biggest tip for all of this is literally to play with every setting until you find something your eyes tell you looks good, If you need more advice on something in particular feel free to send another ask

hi! first of all, i want to say that i love your gifs so much, you always make such beautiful things. i recently started giffing, and i was wondering if you have any tips about settings or process you usually use in your coloring psds? i'm struggling on what steps i should follow :(

hello ! thank you for taking the time to say this !

i usually never know what to say off the top of my head because i am generally chaotic & do things by whim and instinct rather than any real process, but !!! luckily, i was just talking to a friend about it recently so here's what i got.

photoshop settings- i've mentioned this in my main blog before, if you're not already doing this, load all your giffing steps into an action. if you don’t know how to make an action this handy tutorial tells you how. - change your most used commands into easily reachable keyboard shortcuts on the keyboard. for example, assuming you're right handed, your right hand will be cropping and colouring so you could switch command + (w) to open file>export>save for web to see your saving settings / command + ( ` ) to select the next tab. (i'm on a mac so imagine i used windows alternatives ) by using your left hand.

gif saving settings you might have your favourite go-to settings i.e. selective/pattern & bicubic etc. but just like not all sharpenings are created equal, different gif save settings work better for different sharpening styles. try different combis, the results may surprise you. for example, i used to swear by selective pattern+bicubic sharper when saving gifs, but i switched my sharpening style, and started going for a smoother, cleaner, glowier look, and realised after a lot of trial and error that adaptive/diffusion + bicubic smoother works best for the high value sharpening+gaussian blur settings i'm using to create what i want. the big lesson here is don't be afraid to strip everything down and go back to basics sometimes, it's tedious, but it usually pays off. i tried to find the post that taught me this for you and i can't but this one is an alternative !

colouring - the main things you'll be doing to colour a gif are (i don't always follow these in order but usually i do): a) brighten ( i.e. curves, levels, brightness, i used to add a white balance filter but stopped doing that years ago ) b) deepen ( these would be your contrast/gamma correction & offset on exposure adjustment layer/left arrow thingy of the levels adjustment layer ) c) colour correct, the hardest part ! it's like doing makeup. you'll end up using probably everything, colour balance, curves in the rgb setting (i need to learn to get comfy with this bc i'm not yet, but! soon.), selective colour my bff, hue/saturation & vibrance. there are great tutorials out there, but my most recent game-changer is i've finally figured out how to use the channel mixer adjustment. it helps to focus on a neutral colour in the background of your gif when it has an awful orange/green/whatever filter when using channel mixer (like a white wall or blue sky that has turned gross looking bc of the film's base filter), then adjust and play around until it turns into the colour it's supposed to be. then it will be easier to pile on layers over to colour your fc. i am ofc still learning, i have no idea how colour lookup works (i've read tutorials and still don't understand jvhakjx). d) final adjustments. this is when after the above, you decide whether you want to stylise your colouring, make it more vibrant, less vibrant, give it a tint, brighten again or enhance certain colours before saving! - a great way i got the hang of colourings is to open up colouring psds other people have made and toggle each adjustment layer on and off to see what difference they make to the base, you'll start to understand what the purpose of each thing is and why the layers are in that specific order.

last but not least, it took me 10 years to make gifs the way i do now ! my early gifs were all experimental, i went through so many phases (some i'm quite ashamed of, like the low vibrance/high saturation + high brightness trick i used to abuse. why did i do that.), and i did in fact master each adjustment layer (by this i mean learn to use them to their best potential) one by one. don't get discouraged, be patient with yourself and don't be afraid to try things !

unfortunately i didn't save the colouring for this set but i managed to make a similar one, you can download it from here + my process is basically "click and see what happens" but i'll try my best to explain, this can be a mess :')

1. first with the curves, i start with the white dropper and click on the lightest spot (sometimes after doing this you will find that there's a lighter spot, you can choose that instead, play around with this until you're satisfied with it) then i change the opacity of this layer to 70% (is there a reason for this? no but i did this once and i liked the result and i kept doing it)

(sometimes i use the gray dropper after it but i didn't need it in this set, but if you need it create a new curves layer and click on the area that you want it to be gray and it will alter the colours according to that) then i create a new curves layer and since this scene is dark i clicked auto and let photoshop do its job ;)

2. brightness/contrast layer, adjust it depending on the scene, my only advice is don't go beyond 30

3. levels, this also depends on the scene, 0/1.10/240 looks great here (i didn't change the shadows because it's already dark + same with previous.. you don't have to do much)

now after fixing the lighting i ended up with this:

4. channel mixer, i set the blending mode to soft light and i keep the opacity 20-60% (this is also something that i did once and just stuck with me, it gives more contrast). here i really just slide the values in each channel until the colours make sense to me, but basically since the gif obviously lacks yellows i tried to fix that. on the red channel i increased the green (this adds red to the green areas, and when you add red to green you get yellow) and i increased red because i want it to pop. then on the green channel i increased the red (adding green to the red areas in order to lower magenta) then i adjusted the green value according to it (lower it until the total equals 90-100%). on the blue channel i decreased the blue (because i want more yellows) and then i adjusted the green accordingly (i feel like this is not helpful at all sorry 😭) // this is a great tutorial that explains how channel mixer works

5. selective colour, here i needed two layers only, one for the reds&yellows and the other for whites (i like lowering the yellow/black levels in the whites and sometimes increase magenta a little bit, totally depends on what you prefer)

6. at the end of any gif i make i like to add: 1. black & white layer and i set the blending to soft light or overlay, with opacity 10-40%, you can click on auto or you can try the different presets and see their effect on your gif & 2. selective colour layer and increase the black to 5-10% in the blacks.

Hi!! Thank you so much, it means a lot!! I’m trying to put together a tutorial on how I personally gif, but in the meantime

Truly it all comes down to the quality of the footage you’re working with. Try to find the best quality footage available. The better the quality, the better the gif will look

Looking for footage can be challenging. There’s some places you can try, but sometimes you have to t/orrent. If you do, get yourself a good vpn and antivirus. I use W/indscibe

Not all 1080p look the same. It depends on the size of the footage

YouTube 1080p is not true 1080p. The quality will still look sort of weird. One thing I like to do when working with YouTube videos is add noise, as that will make the gif look better and get rid of some of the blur and weird looking lines. Here’s how I add it. But be careful, noise makes the gif size bigger (tumblr gif size can’t be bigger than 10mb)

Sharpening settings are super important! I add two layers of smart sharpening with these settings:

Familiarize yourself with photoshop. Look through all the adjustment layers, settings, etc. I’ve found new things the more I look through

Curves are your best friend. Always start with it. It will set precedence for how your gif will turn out. I like bringing out the darkest points of the gif so I do a normal curves layer with the black point and white point, and a second one with only a black point

Channel mixer is your second best friend. It can help get rid of any weird coloring and tint that the footage comes with (especially helpful when you’re working with yellow tints). Here’s a tutorial on how it works. It may look complicated but once you get a hang of it it’s pretty easy

To color I use selective coloring. Sometimes I add as many selective coloring layers until I get the result I want

Not every single idea will turn out exactly how you picture it. That’s just something that happens. Maybe the coloring isn’t perfect. Maybe the blending is hard. That’s okay. Try your best, or you can find other ways to do it. For example, I originally wanted to blend these gifs together, but some of them looked weird imo, so I went with the ripped paper effect instead

Don’t be afraid to ask people for help, or search for tutorials

If you can, join creator servers. Those are very helpful. You can find footage, get ideas for gifsets, ask for help and collaborate with others

Experiment!!! Sometimes the best ideas come out of experimenting for hours, but also don’t get stuck on something. If it’s not working and you’ve tried, move on

Hey there! I'm getting back into giffing after a long hiatus and was wondering if you had any tips/tutorials you could link for a newbie? Your gifs are so pretty and I aspire to be that good but I'm nervous.

hi! this is an honor jsakljslkajslka first of all i use photoshop cs5 (very outdated i know but im lazy to learn how to use the newer ones).

im probably not the best at explaining and this will sound repetitive but going for the highest quality footage really helps - so always go for 1080p, 720p at a stretch; also, i gif by the screencap method - which is time and storage consuming, but i'm not sure if it makes gifs more or less hq, i jut never tried the other way LSALSJLAJ. i currently use a tweaked version of an action i bought, so i wouldn't be able to share it but for the longest time ive also used this one by the always iconic val (i actually learned how to color using her tutorials!) and ive also been eyeing this one. another thing that REALLY helps is using actions:

this is my action set, and has all that i need ( five / seven / eight / nine are for time, i usually use 0.09 for my gifs because i find that 0.05 is a bit too quick for me ) and it makes giffing very faster, too.

as for coloring, its very relative. this is my standart layers, in order (if i add anymore, it's mostly to change the tone or make things even brighter - like on period shows that have too much yellow, my to go is photo filter or channel mixer ), and i use all of them, but with different tweaks ofc depending on the OG coloring.

ೃ  in which (Y/N) (L/N), 20, still in school, and regretfully-unregretfully-her little girl scout sister's assistant, meets eren jaeger in an embarrassing too innocent door-to-door cookie sale whilst a humiliating party was going on.

cookies, suspicious maybe-maybe-not pot brownies, meddling little sisters and friends, “oh my god they were roommates” vine on replay 24/7, homework, tears, and fairy lights bring them together.

“I’m going to enter now.”

“Ahhh yes, please!”

“Shut up, please.” Eren muttered to himself as he tossed and turned around in his bed, but still couldn’t get to sleep. “When will they ever stop doing this?” Why did Eren’s next-door roommate and his girlfriend have to do this five times a day? They had a lot of stamina for 21-year-olds who didn’t have anything better to do.

Eren’s thoughts eventually brought him to his parents.

His parents- did they even exist?

For pretty much 14 years of Eren’s life, they had been out of town or out of the country. His older brother, Zeke, blonde, bespectacled, tall, and sometimes too far up his own ass older brother who Eren is able to confide in from time to time, recently got a girlfriend whom he’s hopelessly in love with (they’re even thinking about getting married which isn’t really a problem since the girl is genuinely nice to his older brother so Eren is good with her.), so… things in the family had been a bit rough and busy to say the least.

Communication with his parents wasn’t always the best.

Eren would study late at night back when he was seven, because no one bothered to help him with homework. Along with the fact that he wasn’t the brightest kid in class, and he knew that very well, but he had ambition and he was determined to make it big in the world. He focused more on sports, particularly Soccer in middle school and high school, and tried to balance that with his studies.  After being granted a Sports Scholarship from Shigashina University, Eren decided to rent and share a flat, living with his batchmates who he met at a mixer party (before Uni started as this whole meet and get to know each other kind of thing) and whom he was so quick to call his ‘friends’, just so that he could get out of the hellhole that was his own house.

But things turned out much worse than expected.

Eren thought that the ‘College Life’ was to focus more on pursuing your future career and make a name for yourself but… it was the other way around.

He thought that after Freshmen year, everyone would take things seriously. Sure, have some drinks, get wasted after finals, or have house parties from time to time. But he was unfortunately, dragged into the wrong crowd. After attending around 5 parties in the first few months of being generalized as one of the infamous and pompous freshman archetypes present in every university, he called it a year and spent the rest of his nights doing homework, projects, playing video games, staying at the school soccer field until 10PM while his roommates were probably smoking crack and not caring about the number of units they needed to take for each of their goddamn subjects.

 He was ~living the life~ and now that he regrets most of the decisions he made in freshman year, the only option that he has left was to wait until his third year and move to a different apartment.  

 Now, here he was, Sophomore year, nearing the end of the semester, and very much eager to get the hell out of here and also study for his upcoming finals on Constitutional Law II, as his professor, Mr. Erwin Smith, was going to throw hands if one of his students score below average on the exam.

 “EREN MICK JAEGER! BROOOO!” Eren winces when he hears the shrieky and annoying voice of his flatmate Thomas Wagner, calling out to him. “Wanna go and party with us?” Eren smiles halfheartedly, shaking his head, “Ah, no thanks. I have a game tomorrow and finals coming up on Thursday.” Thomas smirked and wrapped his arm around Eren, “Oh fuck that, live the college life ya spoon.”

“No, really I have to study.”

Thomas frowned and groaned, “Oh god, you’re such a killjoy. Fine, if that’s what you want. Don’t blame us if we tell you to buy some beer down the block.”

Eren cracked an obviously fake laugh and pushed Thomas away from him, “You’re an ass. That only happened once and that was when we first met. Don’t you even dare try to ask me to buy you shit again.”

“Woah. Woah. Woaaaaaah. That was a joke Eren. Loosen up will you?” Thomas raises an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by the brunette’s sudden aggressiveness. He hums Moves like Jaeger by Maroon 5 as a way to spite Eren whilst passing by him down the staircase.

The brunette shook his head, tying his hair into a bun carelessly and sprinting into his room without uttering another word.

Eren just wanted to study. He really did.

Instead, his roommates, all of them, mind you, were all partying in the lounge and the music was too loud and Eren was too annoyed.

They did manage to bring him out and make him stay in the kitchen where he mindlessly glared at anyone who came in. He sighed and tapped his pen restlessly amongst the insane amount of books on the table.

There was a knock.

His roommate, Floch, came in the kitchen with his girlfriend who Eren couldn’t even name with all the women he has brought into the apartment. She was hanging onto his arm and giggling. Floch’s eyes were red and his speech very slow and lazy. "Eren!" he said with a sly grin.

Eren raised an eyebrow, shooting him an irritated look. "What now Floch? Are you here to tell me to take a shot again?" The ginger-haired’s girlfriend giggled once again and kissed Floch’s cheek. Floch laughed and swatted her away, though he missed by a long shot. "Someone's at the door," a thumb pointing to the den. "wouldchumind ge'in it?" another giggle. The girl nodded sloshily. "Yesss! Erenieee get 'em door, please. Be a dearrrrr."

Eren frowned and stared at them menacingly, earning no reaction from the two as they were mad drunk. "You were just in the den," Floch’s eyes widened. "My lovey wovey-we was in the den?" His girlfriend’s mouth went into an O. "Di'nt notice tha'!"

Eren sighed and stood up. He miraculously got through the throng of bodies and to the front door. "Yes?" he called out exasperated, not knowing who was outside.

"Do you want cookies?"

Eren turned and looked to see a little raven-haired girl, a girl scout no less, a blonde-haired boy pulling on a trolley who looked significantly shorter than him, wearing rimmed glasses, and an overall appearance whom his “friends” would immediately label as a nerd they had to be a few feet away from if they saw him and lastly, a girl who looked very tired and very done with life.

Beautiful (h/c)-colored hair, her eyes looked like the starry night sky, twinkling as he catches her gaze and a smile that looked forced, but warm all the same.  

A girl who was just absolutely fucking gorgeous.

Eren was captivated. His heart was beating like crazy and he could feel his ears turn red. He would make a fool of himself if he looked red as a tomato right now.

"Um," The girl peeked inside and grimaced, squeezing the hand that was her little sister's shoulder and catching Eren’s gaze. "Mikasa, I don't think these kinds of guys would want cookies."

“Unless they're pot cookies,” Eren almost said. Mikasa pouted and widened her eyes at Eren.

The older girl crouched down and frantically covered her little sister’s eyes. "Nopenopenope, Mi, don't pull that on him."

"But (Y/N)!"

(Y/N).

Her name was (Y/N).

Eren smiled sincerely (for the first time today) and leaned back inside to the drawer by the door to grab the extra cash he and his roommates put there for emergency pizza and stuff. "You know what? You're absolutely brilliant at selling cookies. I'll take one."

Mikasa smiled back at him cheekily and tugged her older sister’s hand. "See, (Y/N)?! He wants some! Go get 'em!”

The raven-haired girl then turned to the blonde teen, practically jumping up and down. “Armin look! We sold another one!"

“We did!” The boy who was apparently named Armin, clapped his hands together, then gave the little girl a high five. “You’re a natural at this Mikasa!”

(Y/N) looked at Eren, then Mikasa, and sighed. She grabbed a bag from the trolley Armin was dragging around and pulled out a box of cookies. Eren grabbed them slowly from her, their hands almost touching as he gave (Y/N) a small smile. The (h/c) girl blushed lightly, though not visible enough for the brunette to notice.

"Hope to see you again!" Eren called out when the siblings said their thank you's and bid farewell.

And, this time, even for the slightest moment, Eren’s serotonin levels were going straight through the roof. His heart was still beating loudly, almost in sync with the trash music his roommates were blaring on the speakers. and for a moment, even just for a moment. 

He felt genuine happiness that he hasn’t felt in a very long time.

 The three of you continue to walk animatedly, now that the coast was clear and the guy from earlier wasn’t within earshot, your blonde friend just had to break the silence.

 Armin smiles, pushing his glasses up to the crook of his nose. “(Y/N), you did see how he looked at you right?” The blonde chuckles softly, catching his best friend off guard.

 You blinked. “Him?” You try to stop yourself from smiling, blushing profusely. “Geez Armin, I don’t even know his name yet.”

 “I’ll bet you 100 bucks that he goes to our Uni.”

 “Even if he does, it’s not like we’ll talk to him or anything. Judging from the place he lives in and the people he was hanging out with, we’re in two completely different worlds.” You shook your head in denial, holding Mikasa’s hand, your interlocked arms swinging playfully. Armin gives you a knowing look in response.

 Mikasa continued to wave back at the boy whom they had just sold cookies too. (Y/N) looked over her shoulder and smiled. “Wasn’t he nice (Y/N)?” Mikasa asks her older sister. (Y/N) returned her sister a small smile, “He was.”

 "I hope we see him again!"

"I'm sure we will."

 The day of Eren’s dreaded finals finally arrive.

He has prepared tirelessly for this. Hours upon hours of hard work. But, before he finally gets his well-deserved sleep, he has a few more hours to cram and absorb more knowledge for his exams.

So, what better way to do so than head straight to the library as soon as it opens at 6 AM?

This time, no one was going to bother him. No annoying roommates and no distractions.

Eren heads over to a table near the coffee and snack machines. He puts down his bag on a seat next to him, and begins to study once again. Looking through the course materials and the lessons that he still didn’t quite understand. Eren was so absorbed with studying and relying on his gut feeling that no other student in this university would think of going to the library at 6 AM on the day of finals… then he’s wrong. Very wrong. 

 “Sasha, should you even be eating mashed potato this early in the morning?” Armin asks the brunette worriedly, a huge tone of concern in his voice.

“Armin! Don’t chu worry! I ate heavy breakfast! Bacon, Eggs, and Toast! Did you not see me in the kitchen!?” She reassures her blonde friend, continuing to scoop up the mashed potato on a reusable cup.

“Liar.” Connie hissed, narrowing his eyes. “I was awake since 4 AM. Not once did I see you sneak into the kitchen until (Y/N) woke you up.”

“Atatata. Can we… stop with the negative vibes for a second?” Jean tries to become the mediator by holding his hands up against his two friends who were about to start an argument. “It’s finals week. We have to keep a clear mind, body and soul-“

“Jean, you know that’s BS.” You yawn widely, still practically half-asleep.

“Oh, come on! Can’t you just let me be positive just this once!? If we fail this exam I’m going to blame you!“

The five of you continue to talk mindlessly on the way to the library. Connie pushes the glass door open, very much excited to have this huge library all to yourselves.

Until…

There was someone already there.

Your eyes immediately come into contact with Eren’s. His radiant jade eyes staring into yours, mouth practically agape, his hands holding on to wooden chopsticks as the hot air of instant ramen breezes through his face.

“Oh?” Connie blinks. “Guess we aren’t the first ones here then.” He whistles.

“(Y/N)!” Armin nudges you in the arm in an attempt to tease you. “Guess your wish came true huh? We did see him again! By himself too!”

“W-what am I supposed to do exactly?” You turn to Armin, speaking in a hushed whisper.  

“Say thank you to him! Offer him to go on a boba date or something!”

“You got the Sasha seal of approval (Y/N)! He’s hot!” Sasha motions you a thumbs up and you can’t help but feel yourself already wanting to die of embarrassment.

The four of them slightly push you towards his table. With your friends cornering you like this, there was no way of escaping this.

All you had to do was talk to him and properly thank him for buying cookies from your little sister.

That was it.

No need for any extra ad-libs or poor and bad attempts of flirtation.

Just thank him (Y/N).

You can do this.

You breathe a hefty sigh then approach his table with confidence. The brunette continues to look up at you whilst turning the page of his reviewer that he wasn’t even looking at.

“Hi again! I just wanted to thank you properly for helping my sister and I, out the other day. Mikasa really appreciated the gesture you did for her, and she couldn’t stop talking about you to our parents since we saw you. You see, none of the other girl scouts want to be paired up with my sister because they think she’s an emotionless and monotonous freak. They’re really mean to her but she really wants to continue being a girl scout so my friend and I accompany her whenever she has to sell cookies!”

“It’s N-no problem!” Eren quickly replies, running a hand through his hair. “Why would they say such horrible things to your sister like that? Judging from the way she acted in front of me, she was quite the opposite. In a positive way of course! Those kids are just assholes who are intimidated because another girl their age is seemingly better than them.”

You giggle in response. “Thank you. I’ll tell Mikasa that you said that!” 

There was short silence for a few seconds until you realized that you forgot to say something. 

“Ah! I’m (Y/N) (L/N) by the way!”

“Eren.” He smiles, reaching his hand out to you for you to shake. You grip his strong and calloused hand firmly, and Eren could feel his ears turning red again while you were about to blush as red as a tomato.

You hear your friends snickering in the background and you took this as a sign to go back to your table. “I guess, I’ll see you around campus?” You ask, tilting your head. For, you actually really wanted to see him again after this.

“Yea! I’ll be seeing you!” He grins widely, watching you leave where he was seated. His smile then envelops into a frown as soon as you went away then he goes back to studying.

“(Y/N)! (Y/N)!” Connie whispers loudly, calling you over by waving his hand. Why was this dunce being so painfully obvious? “Ask him if he’s looking for an apartment or if he wants to live with us!”

“Already!?” You ask in disbelief, a bit shocked by what Connie had just said. He scoots to the left, as you take a seat between him and Sasha. “Guys, you’ve known him for like… 3 minutes. Only Armin and I actually interacted with him before this.”

“He has to pass the vibe check first.” Jean shrugs, sipping on an iced expresso. “But, yeah, he does seem alright from a few feet away.”

“Come on (Y/N)! Ask him!” Sasha nods approvingly. “It’s weird that he’s studying alone like this while we’re in another table trying to remain unaware that he looks lonely as hell.”

“UMmMM… maybe he wants to study alone because that’s the only way he can focus? That’s a thing that normal people do, Sasha.” You remark sarcastically, trying to think up of more reasons to not approach him again.

Armin clears his throat, “Look, (Y/N), it won’t hurt to try right? Besides, don’t you feel a tiny bit sorry for him? He does seem lonely and you do have a crush on him so… more ways to interact with him right?”

Your shoulders slump and you breathe a defeated sigh. “Okay okay fine.” You make your way to Eren’s table again but before you do, you turn to your friends. “By the way, I don’t really have a crush on him just yet. I just find him cute okay?”

“Yeah yeah.” They say in unison as you continue to walk back to the brunette’s table.

“Hi again Eren!” You wave and try your best not to fumble or look painfully obvious that you were infatuated by him. He looks up and you try your best not to smile like a weirdo.

“Hm?” He hums.

“Would you like to come over to our table and study with us?”

can I ask you for advice? how do you make colorful hotd gifs without them being so pixelated? I tried but it just looked way too grainy. I'm wondering whether it's the place I downloaded the episodes from (it's 1080p still)? can I ask you where you download the episodes from and how you sharpen/color your gifs please 🥺

Eyo! I try to work with as high quality as I can possibly get my hands on. For the hot d gifs, I use 2160p footage. I get most of my stuff off tor, if you want direct links IM me or send an ask off anon so I can get back to you with those.

These are my Smart Sharpen settings:

Pretty standard, most gifmakers use this. Back in the day I would just roll with only this because I kinda enjoyed the crispy vibe (I've been swimming in the gifmaking waters for over a decade oofe). But these days, I think since the dimensions and the quality are much higher, just slapping a sharpen on makes everything look noisy and grainy, so I usually duplicate the gif frames and apply an additional Gaussian Blur layer (that I then change the opacity of to 60-80% depending on the scene):

I work with smart objects + timeline animation nowadays so these apply to those. Back in the day I'd write scripts to apply actions to all my frame layers, but we don't do that anymore.

As for coloring, I tend to just color the scenes from scratch, starting off with Curves and Channel Mixer and then building on that. I might make a video on my process sometime or do a lil stream or something (if anyone would be interested anyway).

I tend to be not that great with written tutorials anyway (e.g. this very ask lmao), but there are some fantastic guides out there that can give you a general idea on where to begin. Like this one from Becca, or this one from Jagoda, or this one from Ava. I usually don't follow tutorials step-by-step, but rather see how other people work to pick up new things to try or optimize my own processes.

And as a final note, keep in mind that a lot of the top-notch beautiful gifsets that people on here make are the result of a ton of trial-and-error. So, just play around, have fun and let yourself fuck up a couple of times. You'll get there!

So this challenge has been going around and I wanted to do it because I thought it seemed fun, even though I wasn’t tagged to do it lol. I am however tagging to do this some of my lovely mutuals who are content creators: @moonbyulys @wheein @wheesuns @beallright 💖💖💖 (I’m sorry if you’ve already done it and if not there’s no pressure!! you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to 💕)

I also want to take this moment to thank content creators on here in general 💖 I feel like some people who aren’t content creators might think that giffing is really easy, when it isn’t, and it actually takes a lot of time

Even though I’ve been giffing for years, it wasn’t until recently that I’ve learned more about it, started using ts files and vapursynth (even if I can’t get the plugins to work on my pc :/) and started to be happier with my coloring. I know I still have a lot to figure out tho

About my coloring style, I guess it’s more towards a brighter and warmer look as opposed to a softer one

When coloring my main focus is always to try my best to get the skin tones right, so the person in the gif isn’t whitewashed. For that I use an unwhitewashed photo of the person and compare that to the gif I’m making - it still can be hard tho, and I’m always conflicted on whether or not the coloring is okay, if I overdid it etc. Even for some of the gifs above I’m not too happy, but uh, I tried

When I started giffing, at first I pretty much only used selective color and brightness, contrast, levels and curves. Recently tho I’ve been using channel mixer and, most importantly, the set black/grey/white point tool in curves and it helped me a lot - for example, the gif of wheein covered in magenta was colored using the set grey point tool; and the backgound of last one of hwasa is white because of the set white point tool; and I’m always using the set black point tool as it’s very useful to correct skin tones, specially with performances (in the first solar one, I used it to try to get her skin tone to not change as much in the gif, even with the flashing lights making her skin look too green/yellow - it’s still not perfect but I like it with it better than without it. but yeah that one was incredibly hard to color and at some point I just gave up). I also like to use gradient maps to fix the skin tones, specially if the original is too whitewashed. Also, with curves, I’ve been increasing the reds and decreasing the blues to get an overall warmer tone to the gif. Other than trying to fix the skin tones, I like to use selective color and sometimes hue to change a few colors and either make them pop out more or get one color to be prevelant (for example the moonbyul ones, one with green and the other with purple), which is supposed to make the gif look less grainy. Still, it’s not like I have any idea of what I’m doing shfks sometimes I even use 30 something adjustment layers

my usual coloring: i always say this but honestly i don’t really know what i’m doing; i just always go for it and hope for the best, lol. i have a general idea of what the adjustment layers are for and i mess around a lot with the channel mixer, selective color, and curves, but since i haven’t really tried to study them, i don’t usually get what i want to achieve (and i don’t usually know what i even want to achieve in the first place jdskjsjdk), that’s why my gifs always look a bit crazy coloring-wise. <3 the only thing i NEED, though, is to have some type of color on the lips or else i will perish. otherwise, there’s really nothing much to it, i just really love boosting the colors (especially reds, yellows, and teals) since i think it’s the only thing i do relatively well?? i used to be really fond of where i am with my gifs, but i've been trying to find a new routine for the past few weeks since gif-making gets a bit repetitive!

different coloring: that being said, i really want to try more natural colorings! i know a lot of people struggle with more colorful sets, but the opposite is true for me. if i don’t see... much color (or if it doesn’t look whimsical).. it just feels wrong when i do it and doesn’t look good to me, but i love seeing it on other CCs 😭 also not coloring related but because of this i’m trying to change my whole gif-making regimen, especially the sharpening, since i’m bored of the style, and again, want to try more realistic and sharp-looking ones. if u have tips, please send them my way!! <3

“Just let me in!” JJ yelled from the other side of your screen door, “Everyone else is busy. I promise I’ll sit still if you let me in.” He pleaded, letting out a heavy groan.

“You promise that you won’t get in the way.”

“You won’t even see me, silent as a mouse.” He continued.

He would not quit pestering you until you unlocked the screen door and let him inside of your house, “Fine.” You caved, moving out of the way to let him in.

“Why do you look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy?” The blond laughed, taking in your attire.

“Do you want me to kick you out?” You threatened, scowling at him.

He shook his head, smirking, knowing that he had you riled up. You left him standing in the doorway, going back into your kitchen.

He followed close behind you like a lost puppy in desire of attention, “So, why are you channeling your inner Gordon Ramsey right now?”

“Kook Academy is having an over the summer bake sale and they’re paying the people that take part.”

“So you signed up to help the Kooks, are you feeling okay?” He raised his hand towards your forehead.

“My mom needs the money,” You explained, watching as he took a seat on the counter that was far away from the ingredients that you had sprawled out.

“So, what are you baking, Betty Crocker?”

Smirking, you retorted, “Banana-Chocolate Muffins.”

“Ew,” His face contorted.

“Maybe you’d find them appealing if you ate something other than shrimp and grits.” You chuckled, returning the same energy that he gave you earlier.

“Haha, you’re funny, Y/N/N. I’ll give you that.” He swayed his finger in your direction.

“Can you pass me the spatula in that drawer over there?” You asked, pointing.

He plopped down from the counter and retrieved the spatula, but he didn’t hand it to you before saying something cynical, “Wait, wait. You’re not the Pillsbury Dough Boy,” He paused, “You’re SpongeBob SquarePants.”

You couldn’t deny that his pithy remarks were funny but, you didn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing that.

“I thought you said that you would be silent like a mouse?” Squinting, you took the spatula from his right hand, watching as he searched for a way to respond to you.

“I can be the Chef Boyardee to your Betty Crocker?”

Instinctively, you grinned at his joke, knowing that he took pride, knowing that you found him entertaining.

“Okay, fine.” You complied, walking passed him to grab that cake mix, “But I’m the head chef.”

“Eye-Eye Captain,”

“You think you’re so cute.” You playfully rolled your eyes.

“I know I’m so cute.” JJ corrected.

“Can you grease those pans next to you while I do the ones right here?” You asked, overlooking his previous remark.

To be honest, he didn’t totally know what that meant and he didn’t want to ask you. So, he did not do it, reminding himself to do it later.

After you greased your pans, you thought out loud, “All right so now we have to mix the cake mix, eggs, sugar, and bananas.”

“Should we do it by hand or use the mixer?”

“Uh,” JJ contemplated what to say next, “Mixer.”

“Mixer it is.” You went in the cabinet above the microwave, retrieving the machine.

JJ’s eyes widened, staring at the contraption. For someone that has never baked before, it looked odd.

You laughed, “Come here, it will not bite you.” He was hesitant to grab it but, eventually, he did.

“So, put this at the bottom of the bowl and move it around till everything is one solid color.” You explained.

“Mm.” He replied, not hearing what you told him, looking at the machine, trying to figure out how to maneuver it.

“Here,” You smirked, turning the mixer on and grabbing his hand, showing him how to mix properly.

He looked over his shoulder, observing how you focused. Smiling warmly, he looked away before you noticed that he was staring.

You took your hand away, “You’ve got it.”

“Chef Boyardee has everything under control.” He replied smoothly, turning around for a split second to look at you.

You raised your eyebrows, smiling at him while backing away, resting on the counter.

JJ continued to mix everything while you texted Kiara on your phone. Every couple of seconds you’d take your eyes away from the device, making sure that everything was going smoothly.

It was hard to not look at the way JJ’s shoulder blades would flex as he moved his arm back and forth, moving the mixer inside of the bowl.

Kie: It’s so boring at the chateau

Y/N: JJ told me you guys were busy?

Kie: Definitely not. We’ve just been sitting around watching tv

Y/N: He begged his way into my house and now he’s helping me bake muffins

Kie: JJ baking?? never thought I’d see the day

Kie: Make sure you ask him why he thought we were busy and tell me what he says

“This color looks like my shit,” JJ observed, tearing you from your conversation with Kiara.

“Now I’ll never be able to get that image from my mind.” You rolled your eyes, placing your phone in the pocket of your shorts.

“What’s next, Betty?”

“We pour the mix into the pans and then put it into the oven.” You explained, double-checking to make sure that the oven was on.

“Really? I thought we’d have more to do.” He pouted, poking out his bottom lip.

“Sorry, Mr Boyardee but, the reason I wanted to make these muffins is that they don’t take 30 years to make.” 

He rubbed his hands together, “Well, I’m excited to taste one.”

“Nuh-uh lover boy. These are for the bake sale.”

“Wh-what?” He stuttered, flipping his hat around on his head, “Just one?”

“Fine, we can split one.” You watched as his face lit up, “Now it’s your turn to put the mix into your pans.” 

He snickered, earning a look of confusion from you, “What?”

“Put my mix into your pans,” He cackled, raising his eyebrows, you shook your head.

“I have a dirty, dirty mind,” He explained, tapping his temple.

JJ’s mind was racing 3000 miles per hour so, he didn’t notice that he failed to grease the pans for the muffins, “I hope these taste good,” He commented while placing the pan into the oven, next to yours.

“While we wait,” you began, taking a seat on your recliner, “Why did you lie about the rest of the Pogues being busy?”

“I didn’t lie, just changed a few key details of the story.” He shrugged, taking a seat on the floor in front of you.

You scoffed, “C’mon, you lied.”

“Fine, fine. I embellished the story, so what? I wanted to hang out with you. Are you going to charge me, officer?”

He spotted a pen that was sitting on the coffee table. He picked it up. You kicked your foot in his direction to get his attention.

“And I got to see you in that hot ass apron.” He smirked, putting the pen back where he found it.

“Can you tell me why you embellished, please.” You urged.

“Ah, ah, ah. No way, I remain a mystery.”

“I don’t get you, JJ Maybank.” You chuckled.

“Correction, JJ Boyardee.” He poked the ankle that was closest to him.

“I’m surprised that you messed nothing up, today. I’m proud of you, Boyardee.”

“Thanks, Crocker.” He smiled up at you, putting your calf in a headlock as he liked things on Instagram.

“The timer is about to go off,” JJ noticed, “Should we take them out?”

“Yeah, yeah.” You shook the thoughts out of your head and tried to focus on anything other than the boy in front of you.

JJ was the first to get up and head towards the kitchen, you needed a couple more seconds before following behind, “Shit, shit, shit!” He screamed, you shot up instantly and saw JJ trying to reach into the oven, minus the mitt.

“JJ!” You rushed over, “Are you okay?” You took his hand and ran it under some icy water for two seconds.

“I got distracted thinking about stupid shit.” He took off the red snapback on the top of his head, slamming it on the counter.

“I-It’s fine, JJ. It was an accident, don’t beat yourself up.” You let go of his wrist, taking the muffins out and placing it on the stove so they could cool.

“Here, come sit down.” You led him toward your recliner, forcing him to sit down while you went into the shared bathroom with your mother and grabbed the first aid kit.

“Y/N, I’m fine. I don’t need all of this.” He tried to stand up, but you pushed him back down.

“Do you want it to get infected?” You paused, waiting for him to interject, but he said nothing.

“Why do you insist on taking care of me?” He questioned, looking at you while you tended to the hand that he injured.

“Kie is the mom of the group, not me.” You chuckled, shaking your head as you continued working.

“No, no.” He pushed your hand away, “You take care of me differently. You like, make sure I’m eating enough and shit.”

“That’s just what you do for the people you like.” You shrugged.

“Y-You like me?” He raised his eyebrows in disbelief, a grin was slowly appearing on face but he stopped, wanting to make sure you meant what you said.

Contemplating what to say next, you scratched your head, “I-I mean, like yeah.” You shrugged, trying to play it off as if it wasn’t such an enormous deal.

“Can you stop for a second!” He raised his voice, startling you, “I’m sorry.”

“Do you like me, Y/N?”

“Of course!”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” He questioned, standing up, leaving you sitting on the arm of the chair.

“How could I? I mean, you’re always with some tourist.” You scoffed.

“Cause I thought you didn’t like me. You shoot me down all the time.” He paced back and forth in your living room.

“I want to take you on a date. Like an actual date to see a movie or some shit, I dunno.” He was spiraling out of his mind, saying things at 100 miles per hour.

“JJ, calm down, please.” You attempted to get his attention, but he kept rambling.

“Yeah, and put like extra popcorn on top, yeah.” He nodded his head.

You made an impulsive decision; you kissed him. It took him two seconds to realize what was happening, but once he regained consciousness, he kissed back.

anyway for my usual coloring i color everything with curves since they’re easily the best adjustment layer there is bdfvhjncs then used exposure, vibrance and color lookup for nicer colors and put some levels + more exposure and darker blacks on top to adjust the lighting. for the hendery gif i pumped up the reds up a bit more since i felt like they’d look very nice in that particular gif! for that xiaojun gif i used selective color to color his skin tone instead of color lookup since i didnt need it to be as red as the hendery one uwu

as for my new coloring.... well hfvsdbkhjfn i didnt use any of my usual adjustment layers (yes i suffered). i started with color balance and added 2 layers of gradient maps, one for colors and one for brightness (blending options luminosity) since i didn’t wanna use curves to adjust the lighting bvdfhjncks i tried messing with the channel mixer when making the hendery gif too, just to try it out and fail but yeah i used that too. for the xiaojun one since i wanted to make the blacks a bit darker (but didnt wanna use selective color) i slapped a solid color adjustment layer on top set it to soft light blending and put it on opacity 30%. finished the gifs with a brightness / contrast layers on top of the other ones uwu

for the bottom row gifs i kinda like both colorings since they’re pretty similar, only that the one on the right is a bit brighter and more vibrant, for the hendery gifs however im not exactly happy with the new coloring because his face looks kinda oddly faded? the contrast is probably a bit too high but i didnt know how to fix it so i just left it like that lol

i love changing colors, i love when they are vibrant, i am also the kind of person who will turn everything into purple, but if the scene is purple i will try my best to make it look normal af and remove all the purple lmao idk why tho

turning blue into pink or gold? im here for that :D but i rarely did it before, but i was challenged to do it, so i did :D and i think i did good.

i mean, look at my doctor and master gifsets, i have a lot of them, those are all super edited because original scenes are the pain in the a$$ to color! they are either super dark blue or horrible yellow/red. 

i have not used this gif in a set, wanted to but it was extra so have it :D maybe one day i will make a gifset with yellow/blue combo and use it :D and i do love those two color combinations, like there are other colors too, but i make those two colors stand out so it looks nice. like the gif with miranda otto above, that color combination is really pretty 

also, i love making michelle gomez eyes really blue, or anyone’s lmao like if there are blue eyes consider me making them as vibrant as possible :D

not the best example, but it was not the best quality video and i did what i could. sometimes i make it with selective colors and hue and saturation, but sometimes i draw blue color over the gif. yeah, sometimes i love torturing myself and color each layer or a few layers and just move the layer where i need lmao

like previous insta videos of her i edited and made blue stand out, i did like that :/ but i would do more for that woman :D

my colorings are not super complicated, i usually upload those colorings i don’t use on my psd account @creationsofthedark​ so check it out, there are my first colorings i ever did, and the latest. you will not find channel mixer there tho, but it’s my fav tool now. i stopped updating the blog since... well, there was an incident where the person started doing what i asked to not to do, don’t copy me. i posted a gifsets with these colorings so why would you crop it the same way and color it with my coloring and post, the same scene??? after asking me sharpening settings also?? like, those were so similar i thought it is a repost tbh that’s why i stopped posting psds i use, and well, i use channel mixer mostly for correcting colors and it never works on 99% of the scenes, and i don’t wanna share coloring for one scene i already giffed, what is the point? so somebody could gif the same scene with the same coloring? nope. anyway, channel mixer as you see on previous creator tag games i did is really good when you need to correct colors, such as super red colors or yellow. unfortunately idk how to edit tHAT Doctor and Master scene from doctor falls, it’s the worst scene ever and i will not touch it again lmao, i tried I TRIED but... usual colorings which work fine on more than few scenes are uploaded on sideblog. and you may see there that i don’t do anything extraordinary, same settings almost everywhere, curves, levels if needed, selective colors and color balance are mostly used by me. and i always avoided using masks when i started giffing, but honestly that’s so good, don’t be scared to use them, they are really awesome when you need to correct part of the gif only. i also love using color fills, to change color of the background or a specific object, using blending modes, if the object does not move it is easy but sometimes it does not... like with the eyes, you have to draw over each layer or move the layer for each frame :D sometimes i use textures, but i usually blur them as on the first DW gif here. idk what else to say... :D

Hi hello! Your recent jennie set gif is so cool and soft. Your coloring is amazing for it! I know you said the psd differs from every video but May I ask how you achieve the pale pink color? I really like that effect and blue and pink are my favorite colors that I want to put in my gifs! Also with the skin color too. How do you make it not yellow or pink but still bring out the colors in her lips? I’m sorry for the confusion, keep up the good work!

hello there ! first of all, thank you so much for your compliment 💕 as for how i make the skin neutral, even thought sometimes i feel like i’m not keep the skin neutral, i already make some tutorials which you can find here: 1 & 2 (it turns out looking more yellow than i expect so just lower some adjustments here and there) as for this particular set, i tried to make the base psd work but it’s not doing well with other video so i made this basic psd to show how to keep the skin neutral:

as for how to achieve the blue and pink color, i’ll explain it below !

1. i always make sure to make the specific color that i wanted to change stand out so it will be more easier for me to change the color using the hue/saturation (in this case i’ll make the cyan and pink stand out, for example the 7th gif of this post which the cyan didn’t really stand out)

2. this is the gif before i change the color (using the base psd only)

to achieve the blue like the one that i did with my jennie with bangs set, i’m using the hue/saturation “cyan” with this settings:

as for the pink one, using a channel mixer layer could help you to achieve that kind of pink since it brings the pink tone into the red one. my tip was before you apply the channel mixer layer, i recommend you to using a selective color layer “pink” with this settings:

after that, on top of the channel mixer layer you could apply selective color layer “pink” with this settings to help you achieve that kind of pink:
