If you avoid the major sins forbidden to you, We will absolve you of your ˹lesser˺ misdeeds and admit you into a place of honour.

Imām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
When (a person) recites the Qur'ān and thinks about what it means, that is from the most powerful of means of holding him back from sins.

The same pen that wrote for Yusuf to be sent to prison, deprived of his rights and denied justice, was the pen that wrote for him to become a minister, reigning over the treasury of Egypt.
The same pen that wrote for Yusuf’s brothers to dominate over him and throw him in the well
is the pen that brought them to Egypt, standing before Yusuf in need and at his mercy.
The same pen that took Yusuf from the arms of Yaqoub, returned him to his father years later as a Prophet and minister.
I do not know what may be written in my story next. But I know who holds the pen.
Shall I not trust the One who wrote the best of stories to write my story too?

4:17-18
Allah only accepts the repentance of those who commit evil ignorantly or recklessly then repent soon after—Allah will pardon them. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
However, repentance is not accepted from those who knowingly persist in sin until they start dying, and then cry, “Now I repent!” nor those who die as disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.

Ashamed I felt as I sat down to pray.
Raised my hands and started to say.
Ya Allah, I've lost my way.
I've become so unaware.
My movements have become robotic. My actions have lost their meanings.
Life is passing me by.
Time is slipping away.
I've been guided, but I've become lost on my way.
My sins have reached the clouds.
But it's your mercy that brought me back.
Take me in & show me the way don't let me go astray.

Yahya ibn Mu’ādh, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:
“According to how much you fear Allāh the people will respect you, and according to how much you love Allāh the people will love you, and according to how much you busy yourself with Allāh [with worship] the people will become busy in your affairs [i.e. in your service].
[Sifatu As-Safwa: 3/343]
