Ok I enjoy Billford as like, toxic yaoi, but if we were to be serious about this for a second like- Ok, Ford IS an abuse victim, straight up, it’s pretty much in canon. When Ford didn’t do what Bill said he tortured the ever loving shit out of him, showing Ford that he can make him feel unimaginable pain if he wanted to. When Ford finds his family reading The Book of Bill he’s terrified, but he just finds them all laughing about it. Of course he’s still terrified of Bill even after his death, he went through hell with that triangle, but now he’s realizing that he’s not a ‘God’ that was above him, he’s just some loser, Bills a loser, that beat the shit out of Ford for no good reason because he had the power too. Bill is also just messed up in the head, he burned down his own dimension and is terribly lonely and fucked up from that all, so he gets attached to Ford. So when that doesn’t go his way he just gets angry by it all and immediately does the one thing he’s best at which is destroying everything. He calls what burns down his home ‘a monster’ because that’s all he sees himself as now, a monster. Bro NEEDS therapy and the Axolotl knows this. (Ford also probably needs therapy ngl ☠️)

ive seen people say that they dont like the new wishing mechanic, people calling capitano a twink, people saying that mavuika's hair is ugly, people saying that theyre only being generous because of the "boycott." like why are you still playing the game if you have this much to complain about?

the biggest complaint, of course, is that hoyo "whitewashed" the characters. and no, im not racist, no, im not a hoyoverse dickrider. dont be like the people on twitter who will assume that youre racist just because you like the designs of the natlan characters. i say "whitewashed" because yes, they do take a lot of inspiration from south american and african gods, a lot of them are named after gods or have names from south american or african origin. but that doesnt mean they are those gods, or belong to that continent and therefore must look the part, theyre just named after them.

do i think its okay for hoyo to make almost all of them white? no not really. do i care that they made them all white? again, no not really.

im going to keep playing the game because i like it and i like the world that hoyo built. you dont have to agree with what i said, you dont have to like it at all. just respect my opinion. and if you dont like my opinion, block me.

You know what, while I'm doing hot takes. And this one may be obvious considering I'm actively contributing to hosting the Solarpunk Aesthetic Week event but like.

Dear everyone who's constantly deriding the aesthetic portions of the solarpunk movement/genre; do you just not understand that being able to visualize the future you want is immensely important to being able to work towards it? Being able to get other people on board with it?

When I first got interested in Solarpunk, it wasn't for the hot leftist takes about the top ways to dismantle the government for the people, or top tips on how to build your own solar panel apparatuses. What brought me in? Visions of a hopeful future. I learned and began to love the rest as I dove deeper into solarpunk circles, but there is no denying that my first intro to it--and likely many people's first intro to it--was via the art and aesthetic spheres. The term 'solarpunk' was literally coined to refer to the aesthetic movement, and we've been building up from there ever since.

'When are people going to realize the aesthetic parts don't matter and what really matters is praxis--' dude, the aesthetic parts do matter. Inspiring people does matter. Showing people visions of a hopeful future is immensely important, it's why so many people join this movement. We see glimpses of what a hopeful future could look like, through beautiful art or riveting stories, we're inspired by things like stained glass and organic designs and statues and fashion concepts--and then we think to ourselves 'how can we help make this future happen?' And we learn the praxis and we work towards the goals and we share it with others because that's just how we work.

Seeing isn't always believing, but sometimes in order to believe in something with your whole heart, it helps to be able to visualize what you want. For yourself and for others.

So yes. The aesthetic parts of solarpunk do matter. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

i keep thinking about roach with the curse of achilles, but more specifically the scene where he actually gets submerged.

his mother pushes him fully underwater by pressing her pointer finger into the area under his ribs. he refuses to close his eyes, even as the water blurs his vision and starts to sting, until she softly says, “it’s okay. you’ll be okay.”

the pressure on his diaphragm increases and soon enough, roach finds out what it's like to be breathless before he knows what it's like to drown.

he forgets about this as he grows older. when all of his classmates skin their knees or break their bones, roach finds himself unscathed. he just comes home with dirt smeared across his face and another piece of clothing to patch up.

earning the name roach is inevitable.

of course he survives a fall. sure, the explosions make him dizzy for a bit but he's back up in no time. the mortars are the closest he ever gets to being hurt in that way.

there isn't a doubt in his mind that he'll survive, until shepherd presses a gun against his chest and pulls the trigger.
