#for example teachers and students

There's no way to move forward without a reform of the education system but they need to start in city schools bc I (who went to a rural less-than-20-students-total school for the 1st 8 years) am more well adjusted than all of my classmates combined and that's saying something. Considering how I don't even think I'm real and all.
#they act like literal children and reject everyone that doesn't conform to their norma#they believe in a “us vs them” mentality when it comes to everyone#for example teachers and students#our class vs our parallel classes#our year vs the year younger than us#our school vs the other schools#the “normal” people vs the annoying/weird people (aka my friendgroup)#they believe so desperately in a social hierarchy and that being at the top could benefit them somehow#it's very... illogical and superstitious#that's the word. superstitious. like you'll become lesser than if you break the made up rules. if you dare see a teacher as human or deem#people other than the members of your in-group as “normal”#it's all bullshit and counterproductive#everyone is human always so let's not get weird about it

I've gotta make a fake trailer for show/movie turning it into a different genre which theoretically is hilarious and fun, but I'm scared because now the fate of my bachelors degree lies in the hands of a shitpost
#the example they showed from one of last years students had me on the floor#it was stranger things as a gay romcom#this is university work. making a gay youtubepoop is a graduate univeristy assignment.#anybody wanna throw some prompts at me?#I'm thinking either walking dead (of fucking course) or breaking bad#I could make a sitcom twd trailer pretty easy probably#I'd be too embarrassed to do any kinda romance one like. I'm sorry I draw the line at showing my teachers GAY SHIP EDITS.#the bravery of that student last year. I fucking salute you.#stop but can you imagine if I did that with Rick and Negan or Walt and Jesse and got an A#I feel like I have to.

Thinking about how secondary schools usually have three-word Latin mottos on the emblem to show which virtues are most exercised ("Modeste, Strenue, Sancte", "Stet Fortuna Domus"..) so having the original Bully game named Canis Canem Edit was a jab at this system while hinting at what Bullworth's climate is like.
#Im surprised I hadn't noticed sooner???#remembering every moment that emphasised the school motto#gary's 'it's sink or swim' line#and dr crabblesnitch's dialogues about 'fixing' the students#I could list so many examples of each time we see bullying not just in the school setting b/w students#but also teacher to teacher (Hattrick vs Galloway)#and student to adult#parent to parent#it's all about the strong eating the strong now because they've long since pruned the weak#oh and apparently this is not just in British schools as I initially thought#but a lot of other schools (particularly secondary) across America also have Latin mottos#bully scholarship edition#bully cce#canis canem edit#bully game#bully rockstar#bully#bully canis canem edit#cyapityy

im seeing that poll about learning cursive in school a lot on my dash and as a vietnamese im kinda bewildered bc what do you mean you cant read cursive?? because to us cursive is for capital letters only! the rest are normal letters. so ig our normal written letters are the american cursive, and our "computer" letters are your normal letters?
↑ these are the fonts we learn in school. The left are our normal letters, the right are our cursive. Oh and the thing is, these are the only fonts we actually taught a school, the "typing" font is just what we imitate from printed books. In elementary school we have "good handwriting competitions" where the participants write in the above fonts and are graded on how close it is to the table above. its like boring calligraphy
#unrelated post#my thoughts#almost all of us are taught these in elementary school and as we grow up our writing style changes#i for example have a mix between the ''computer typing'' and the traditional font above#mostly the typing. but i sometimes write in normal letters inbetween for funsies. i switch between 2 types of s the most i think#i was a good writing participant once! or more like the teacher put me in the trained team for the competition#i think it was not bc my handwriting was good but bc i was an excellent student grade-wise and they dont have better choice

I am. Very normal about this arc's depictions on teaching and learning, and how about so far the tests are not about winning the battle but rather what the character have learned so far on their journey as well as in the battle itself, and how the ones giving the lessons are not only the teachers but the elite four and the gym leaders too, turning them into a key part in the learning process of the students taking the terastal course. I am. Very normal about this.
#so far I have not got the time to do it but I really really enjoy this arc and I would like to make a long ramble about it#because something that I really love is the relationship between teachers/school-Gym leaders-elite four. All of these characters play a rol#in giving valuable lessons to the students even as the battle unfolds#the results are not bassed on winning but rather what the student can prove about what they know and most important what the one acting as#the teacher (see: gym leaders for example) at the moment can notice about what the students have learned. Because they do!#this entire arc is hitting close to home in relation to what I see in the teacher training I'm doing* and I love it.#(*Whatever is the english translation for profesorado is.¿?)#pokemon#pokemon horizons

#while im at with all this opinion posting#i think people are very afraid of being or being seen as reactionary luddites that they adopt objectively kinda weird positions#like being extremely skeptical of the idea that changes in educational policy can impact e.g. literacy#<-wrt to the whole can college students read books thing. lol.#and also. granted this has nothing to do with the actual issue. but that teachers response really baffled me...#giving les mis as an example of a book that isn't relevant anymore as if it isnt abt the injustice of poverty/policing/prisons...cmon!!!#its a long book that is difficult to read and i dont think very many people could or would want to read the whole thing in a school term#but its actually absurd to act like its not interesting or relevent like u cannot be serious with that...

also it’s interesting because. my family is deeply unsentimental (in a very powerful way) and society is divided into the pretty heartless or the pretty sentimental (generally speaking) and I’m sort of this walking heart wound of emotion trying to straddle these lines (and having a hard time of it!) but one of the things that does guard me from being more sentimental than I am is the secret cruelty and unfairness that lurks at the bottom of all sentimentality.
#like. schools are just such an interesting example#because they HAVE to combat the cruelty of the world#and there has to be love and warmth and support#especially if the school is a good one or trying to be and especially if the staff cares (which good teachers do)#but all the awards and the celebrations and trying to make things feel special can breed bitterness and resentment and a certain#stale weariness almost?#and yes some of that is just the human condition#it doesn’t mean you should do away with all of them just because you can’t please everyone#some of it is just the nature of the game of it all#but there is something where it becomes cloying very quickly#when wanting to celebrate students becomes detached from quality or high expectations#and even when it is united there is something I don’t like about the continual celebration of one student over another#of the kind of instinctive favorite picking schools do in terms of like ‘these are the golden kids’#and I get it I get it we need things to keep us going too. something to celebrate someone who appreciates us#but it’s just. on some level no! no kid above reproach no kid beyond redemption#because that’s life but it’s also just kids!!!#the only real safe space for me to interact with them is teacher / student and they are allllll my students#and I have a job to do by all of them not just the ones who love me#and many of them do and i love them in return!!#but just sort of letting the love hang in the air without immediately sinking it back into the work#or using it to redirect them#and at some point just stepping all the way back#to see and remind them that my job is to be a door and a guide into something bigger than me#isn’t good. it makes it sour more. and also in some way is me hurting people more#like this senior class is special to me. they just are. and yet to dwell too much on that in my speech (a temptation) actually has all sorts#of pitfalls attendant on it.#including exposing myself to the scorn of the kids who are like ‘who’s that lol’#which is funny and balancing in itSELF#but even if the whole class is on board the wave of sentimentality it actually shuts me off more from the students I currently teach#making that somehow seem less because they are not my ‘favorite’

not saying that post doesn't have good points, but "forcefully silencing a jin ling wasn't a good or fair teaching method" guys did we forget this is a xianxia 😭
#kids are being whipped and forced to kneel for hours#and silenced and forced to copy rules while doing handstands#we have no reason to believe hgj also doesnt forcefully silence his own students when they speak innappropriately#none of the adults here are using good or fair teaching methods by 21st century standards... what's happening sdjkhjdskfjdkf#hgj silencing jl was improper bc he's not his teacher but he's still his senior#which is why jc just tells JL to accept the punishment once he realizes theres no point arguing about it#not saying hgj isn't bitchy <33 he is#but this is a weird example to use when mdzs is full of adults not knowing how to properly discipline children. theyre ALL losers#and that's just how it worked back then#modao#lace speaks

everytimes someone makes an AU that involves grian being architect or architect students i have a war flashbacks to my own collage
like yes, he will suffer and even more trauma that for sure
#the one that grian is architect teacher.... you just assigned him to be canonically mean and sassy if he need to btw...#not every architect techs is actually mean yes but sometimes they just did to like.. mentally prepared their students#for example one time my work have too much space left and my teacher said#“did you left that to build a fucking volleyball court”#anyways.#rambles#one of them just give me side eyes for lining ain't evenly#i got cooked by them a lot#i hate it here#edit: i don't hate it! nothing/neg about this! i just find how it effected me funny-#i hate architect but grian as a arc student is gud

My first time watching Glass Onion it was obvious that Miles' speeches were bullshit, but I still searched for any hidden meaning there might be.
The second time is a different experience though because every time my brain starts to search for meaning, I feel like Benoit Blanc discovering that no, there is absolutely no hidden meaning.
It's bullshit it's all nothing nothing nothing! It is just how you end up talking when everyone reacts to your self-aggrandizing word vomit like it is actually wisdom.
Also, legit, when Miles gave his stupid bullshit speech about what the word 'disruptor' means to him, I shit you not I was like holy shit am I back in business school right now?!
Miles must have given speeches like that at 100 business school graduations, goddamn.
Like, the motherfuckers really do sound like this. We didn't have any billionaires come, but we had a lot of millionaire guest speakers in my classes, and they fucking talk like that.
They all think they're rugged capitalists, but they're just glass onions!
#original#glass onion#it's just. business school prepared me really well to succeed in the business world as a straight white neurotypical#able-bodied cis man with a large network of very wealthy friends and family#I really would have killed it if I wasn't a queer autistic cripple!#even the best teachers seemed incredibly unaware of the enormous privilege that they were assuming in their students when they taught#but they basically presupposed you had infinite energy and savings and a disturbingly large number of my classes were just#lectures about pushing as hard as you can no matter what#they used Starbucks as an example of an admirable case of somebody who persisted in going to 150 investor pitches before being approved#and like. how many people do you know who have enough savings to schedule plan and attend 150 investor pitches?#how many people do you know who could set up even 12 through their connections?#where are those savings coming from? where are those investor pitch meetings coming from? those aren't easy to get!!#but none of this was ever mentioned it was just awesome that the guy kept trying I guess.#I have a sneaking suspicion that if I were to have dug deeper into some of the examples we were given that a lot of those#real life businesses probably started with a big big loan from somebody's parents#I was listening to the show you're wrong about which is a really good podcast and Michael Hobbs was like#anytime you see an article glorifying someone's financial success especially at a young age you should control F for 'parents'#because chances are you will probably see the word 'parents' somewhere next to the words 'million dollar loan'#anyway college is a scam. the community aspect was incredibly cool but I don't see why we as a culture need to only be able to access that#kind of community when we are paying a scam Institution a shitload of money for Educations that aren't helpful for the majority of us#if College was free then people could actually study things that are useful or fun for them#I took most of my courses just to fill out my major too. the point wasn't to learn it was to graduate.#and then it turned out that if you're disabled in the way i am it doesn't matter if you have a college degree!#but I'm sure miles would say I just need to pull myself up by my bootstraps. and that's why I'm glad his life got exploded 😌#andi kept him around for his money - why else would he be there when no one even liked him??#he was the bankroll#one time I swear to god we just had the guy from American Psycho just a real ass Patrick Bateman#it was wild watching that movie later and being like ???? I know this guy!#outside of the actual murder scenes everything in that movie is not exaggerated in the slightest those bitches really are like that#like my parents are not 1% level rich so there'd be no giant loans but they are rich. it'd be stupid to act like i didn't benefit from that

I hate school but at the same time I wish I was a few years younger so my only responsabilities were do homework, draw animatic, eat hot chip and lie
#asmo.txt#can you tell im having an existencial crisis the closer i am to graduating high school#college sounds so torturous but like my bio teacher said#“it's a few years of your life to live comfortably the rest of your life”#im not really sure how true that is tbh- and we live in latam so imagine the examples i have of graduated college students

english prof just left LOADS of feedback on my essay omg this is so exciting
#personal#the english chronicles#FINALLY!!!!!!!! someone who doesn’t just slap an a on it and call it a day#most of it is picking at me for passive voice use and my really shitty conclusion paragraph BAHAHA we were limited to 3 pages#and i was really struggling to cut it down bc. the prompt i chose involved 7 different concepts like give examples of these concepts in this#short story but i also had to Define and Explain the concepts and then there was also the intro and conclusion and header block and it’s#double spaced like 3 pages is rlly not enough for this prompt if you want to give a genuine critical analysis. so my conclusion was#extremely short and shallow lmfao but yeah. he also left lots of praise 😌 AND! he left audio recording for everyone?? like damn okay you are#a prof who genuinely wants to see his students improve thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏻 yes i only got a 90 which i think is the lowest ive#ever gotten on an essay but idc my respect for him just Shot up. also only four of us got A-range grades so i still feel p okay abt that#and i started the essay night of so all things considered this could have gone worse lol#also i got the top score on the exam last week so still riding that high (i needed the ego boost so bad guys 💀) but anyway. i think he’s#retiring after this semester tho this is so tragic he’s also just a rlly fun nice guy in class too like i would 100% take him again#but yeah. i will concede that i fall into passive voice a lot without realizing it so glad he said smth abt it i will be more mindful 🫡#also i guess i did a couple page citations incorrectly it has been a minute since i touched mla and i thought you could either segue into a#page citation like on so and so page they say this OR do parenthetical in-text citation at the end of a quote but he only wants the#parenthetical type ever. not sure if this is a flat rule of mla or just teacher preference i will b looking into this#edit okay looks like flat rule for mla. my bad 🙈 i only did the segue thing twice instead of the parenthetical citation thankfully

so for the past 2ish years that i've been taking this thai course i've been the youngest participant by far and also (mostly) the only girl
and because of that, even tho it's an online course so we're not super close with each other, despite that i still often feel like i have a bit of a status as the group baby (affectionate). and it shows in moments like earlier in class when someone asked about the word "inspiration" and then, when asked to give an example sentence, without batting an eye went "[airenyah] is my inspiration to learn more thai"
y'all. this man is one of the best (if not THE best) student in our course 🥺
#our teacher will also often use my name in his example sentences#or when he's asking the class a question and nobody replies bc nobody has an idea he'll sometimes call on me specifically sjkkjsf#i'm shy but i also LOVE being the group baby ngl#this is the kind of attention that i like skdjkfgjkfd#stories from my thai class#airenyah plappert#btw this is a man who's like 60 lol i feel like the 35 year age difference makes this even more endearing kdfkkjg#also when he said that i started laughing and went ''i'm sorry?? is that so? kdfjkdfj'' and he laughed as well and said ''i'm just kidding'#it was very amusing dfjkdfkdf#like. i didn't think he was being truthful bc as i said he might as well be our best student in class#(or maybe him and me share the no. 1 spot idk. i feel like he's better than me tho)#but the fact that he dropped that as an example sentence without batting an eye had me all dfkjkjdfkjdfg

you know how sometimes you will randomly unlock a memory that doesn't actually mean much. anyway i just now remembered one of those. for context when i was. i wanna say 15. i nearly got into this fancy boarding school for arts and science we have here. and this memory was from the final stage of entry. i was "auditioning" for humanities and for art. and in art they had us draw this combination of objects in front of us with pencils. and they gave us an hour i think? but i finished in 30 minutes (the finisherrrrr). and mind you it was a very decent drawing. a bit too dark but still p accurate. but the teacher there saw that i finished early and went "...try to correct stuff" and i asked what and he said "find them yourself" which only caused me to ruin that drawing bc i tried correcting the dark areas smh. anyway all this was to unlock another part of my backstory for you guys, i was actually an artist before, at a relatively high level for my age back then even. yeah i dunno what went wrong in the years since either
#also a writer as you can guess from me getting into humanities too#the reason i didn't get into the school was bc i couldn't handle the boarding school aspect of it 😩#but i remember in the acceptance process into art they really liked my stuff. and writing? even more so#damn fr what went wrong since...........#(tbf. my art wasn't very very good. but i think still decent for someone my age back then who never learned it)#(i don't remember when i stopped doing it. i mean i never fully did but i like when i started doing it way less.)#(probably when i dropped out lol many of my drawings in 10th grade for example were done during class)#(speaking of i did get into a different art school! for troubled™️ kids tho :P)#(i was in theater but other students and teachers told me i could've been in music and art there too had i wanted that. sigh)#(man where did all that go....... i mean i do have theater and music left but still........)#ok reminiscing of the past over. if you read all this i'm sorry. hope you enjoyed another chapter of my backstory tho
