copyright issues aside AI really feels like a case of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, it's really not inherently a bad technology (is there even such a thing?) and we've seen how it can open up new possibilities for visual effects when used as an actual tool in elemental or spiderverse, but greedy assholes saw generators like midjourney and went "yeah, we're gonna take the easy bake oven equivalent of an actual art tool and replace 90% of our staff with it", making sure no one in the non-technical side of the art industry will want anything to do with it ever again

#to me something is an art tool if it opens up new artistic possibilities #and something is a fucking scam if it limits your artistic possibilities #for example i really do think what theyve done with character.ai is really fucking impressive #and could be used to make new kinds of videogames that have never been done before BUT #those games won't take any less time to develop than normal games. if anything they will take longer because you're using experimental stuf #and they would never replace normal games they would just be a different experience like a racing game is different from a narrative game #the key to catch the scams imo is to look out for people that are promising perfect easy instant near-free results for anything #because that is never going to exist
