II 17 SPOILERS... kinda? More me just yapping and (poorly) theorizing

i mean, there's NO way that was the end yeah? If I recall right, they said that season 4 was a possibility (unless they were lying) (which is very possible LMAO)

There's a few things that kinda stick out to me which makes me think we'll get an Act 3

One, this close up shot of this phone? Why would they bring attention to it?? Especially if this WAS the last episode, it would just feel really odd to have one of the last shots be... a random phone?? Endings can have unanswered questions, yes, but you don't usually CREATE a new question right at the end.

Also how is Baxter still here?? He's not from the outside world or anything, he was just chilling in a pond which MePhone made? Maybe I'm overthinking it and he just... someone wandered into that pond coincidentally?

Also ALSO the eggs just... saw all that? Like the shimmers are just there. I feel like they're not just gonna come down to find one of their kids, see literally EVERYTHING disappear and just be like "hmm... must've been the wind!" and dip

We can probably assume Bow got blipped out as well, as even if she was disconnected from MePhone, purgatory mansion is just gone alongside Apple, so she doesn't really have a chance. But what about Bot? It's probably safe to assume all the other III contestants got blinked out, but they weren't created by MePhone. So are they just like... sitting there? Alone? And that's just not acknowledged??

One final thing to note is Cobs, who really makes me think that there's no way this is the end. He is the sole person to insist that YES, this the finale. "Show's over," and all that. I'm just saying, I feel like when an antagonist continually says something, usually the opposite is the truth.

Of course, how do you make another episode after THAT? Well...

Cobs did say he wanted to make something new. And he doesn't strike me as the creative type, so he might just use some of MePhone's old work as a basis. And just maybe, not everything will be completely correct. I'm just saying there's a reason why they wrote this line. I'M NOT CRAZY I PROMISE

To make things easier for me, I'm counting characters who are playable in the alt mode. I'm arbitrarily choosing who counts as being a major character and who doesn't :P

5) Joachim Armster. Utterly fascinating minor antagonist, in design and powers and backstory. A guy attempting to overthrow his vampire creator, only to be tortured into insanity? What did they plan to do with him?

4) St. Germain. While in the grand scheme of things he was a bit of a waste, I can't deny how funny he is and how engaging the fight against him is. He has that trickster charm, I can't help it!

3) Laura (OoE). Yes, very minor, but still. She's the most interesting villager for me, for very, uh, shippy reasons lmao. I just like her calm attitude and her determination in making Shanoa smile no matter what :)

(I would have counted Albus because I love him and his relationship with Shanoa, but his role is too major for the scope of this question :P he would rank high up in a hypothetical top 5 rival list, just sayin' ;) )

2) Maxim Kishine. ... listen I'll count him as a side character because technically the villain is his evil side, shut up my list my rules >:( anyway. I already talked about him. I love the he and I wish more was done with him <3

Julia Laforeze. I also talked about best merchant witch. She deserved more. Like being appreciated for who she is and not for who she looked like :(

Honorary mention to Rosaly, who... saying that she's chilling on the edge is being very generous, but she's still my girl and I love her <3

Aww Suika and Kohaku reuniting...feels bittersweet now that she’s 15

Hyoga with a leaf mask lmao (also he’s alive? damn), also I loved his little interaction with Chelsea, is Hyoga chilling out? He still killed like five people, hrmm...

Senku keeping his scars feels like it was handwaved to keep his design but he still could have painted his back on? So I’m curious as to whether that throwaway detail is going to come back later and reveal that Senku isn’t actually an ordinary human (besides being mega smart) in some way.

Loved the panel where everyone is around the campfire (Taiju and Senku sitting next to each other!)

I feel like they still don’t have any way of knowing the true extents of how the stone preservation works. Hyoga may have been 100% dead before getting petrified, but he’s also really young and fit. Meanwhile Kaseki is older and the constant labor he does probably puts a strain on his body, damage that gets repaired in the depetrification. Plus Kaseki isn’t any visibly younger, so you wonder if the stone would cure death from old age or if people would eventually die anyway.

But if they’re truly immortal now it brings up a whole host of ethical implications and I am very curious and mildly afraid of what’s going to come up next. Also what’s their plan for the Americans? Revive Xeno and Brody for their knowledge maybe, but keep most of the more dangerous characters like Stanley stone?

There’s also the fact that they still have a few megacities to go before they can gear up for the space mission, and so far they’ve met some pretty intense antagonists along the way. So is there going to be another antagonist waiting in Europe? How much more high stakes can you get than Xeno and his guns before having to confront the Big Bad Whyman?

ive been following you for years and its really cool to see you get into RWBY! whos your favorite character/ship?

tbqh i’m very new to this fandom and like wanna rewatch the show already just to like. catch lil stuff i might’ve missed the first time around and such. even though i paid rapt attention the whole time and my brothers have explained some of the more vague concepts and showed me the trailers and stuff! i just really like it so much and want to watch again already, haha.

it’s hard to choose a favorite character!! after my first watch, i absolutely love all of team rwby + jnpr and care about all of the character so deeply!! oscar and penny and qrow ofc too. but jaune is my bABY BOY, i have a big soft spot for weiss and am living for her character arc, and i love pyrrha and miss her on the daily. tbh i could go on and on about why i love so many of the characters so just like, for now, know that i love most of them. i love qrow bc i’m a predictable bish. i also rly like ironwood as a character, he’s super interesting and i’m excited (and nervous!!) to see where his future leads - of course tyrian is a spectacular villain, his fight scenes are dope af, and i love how bonkers he is, but he’s obviously also the actual fckin worst, i don’t like him i think his character is v effective!! but never gonna forgive him for what he did to poor qrow and precious babyboy clover

and i love salem’s weird jellyfish grimm friend but i don’t think it rly counts as a character i just think it’s cute as hell even tho it’s evil lmao

i think rwby is actually one of the better shows as far as characters and character design go, there are a lot of amazing minor characters as well!! it’s just overall a rly enjoyable “cast” ya know? for a multitude of reasons. except for adam, they rly did him dirty, he could’ve been such a dope antagonist and then he just turned into “wehhh blake is a weenie because she doesn’t love me wehhhhhh” hahah

as far as ships, i don’t ship ruby with anyone, but i think her friendship with penny is like.... the cutest!? and her and oscar can be v wholesome as well. but like... i just like them as pals. otherwise, i’m like absolutely drowning in my feelings about qrow/clover because of course i am, i’m predictable af!! and i have a LOT of feelings about qrow in general and could probably write a novel about my thoughts and about his and clover’s potential, so that’s my fave ship of the show despite their short-lived screentime. in my many years of being in various fandoms, i’ve found that i p much consistently love characters who cause me emotional pain and suffering!! and that i am drawn to largely impossible, unfounded, uncommon, and/or tragic pairings (or like... morally questionable ones, but my rwby pairings are p chill on that front i think because the show is just too wholesome) lmao

but!! besides qrow/clover, i also love everyone’s fave girlfriends blake/yang (duh) and the tenderness/true connection of ren/nora (/jaune?? possible occasional ot3 moment there? even though my fav for him is pyrrha, but... ya know....) and sun/neptune is a cute one too although i haven’t really ventured into that corner of fandom yet and i’m sure it’s not a super big one! and like... i wanna ship troubled but sexy zaddy ironwood with someone (qrow?) even though it’s hard for me to ship him with anyone (qrow) because of how hard i ship qrow with clover/after what happened with clover because of ironwood’s orders, and also because ironwood has started really just going off the rails but like. we love an unstable character and unrealistic pairings in this house so... nothing’s stopping me

I? am a terrible seller when it comes to these things lmao, but I guess if you want a mom tm muse to look after you---then she’s your deal. But I think acquaintance-wise/platonic relationships, she’s great too as long as you’re not on her bad side. It’s just hard to get it, but once you do, man will she be loyal and caring to your muse (until you break it).

Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?). — 

I wouldn’t say it doesn’t make her interesting, cause I think it gives her a lot more depth, but she can either be temperamental or closed off depending on who your muse is. I guess just keep that in mind if your muse is someone that can set that off???? Idk?????? She’s also stubborn and holds grudges so, yeh. 

What inspired you to rp your muse? — Coco broke me and seeing this character on screen made me wanna explore her characterization? She has so many layers on her, and as an emotional antagonist, they handled her super well and I was really blown away by it! I also wanted to give her some attention considering how the franchise usually focuses on Ernesto, Héctor and Miguel (which there isn’t anything wrong with that!).

What keeps your inspiration going? — I like to write? And I think recently I’ve realized I like analyzing characters and what makes them interesting (it’s helping a lot with a few things I’m doing actually). She’s a great way for me to exercise that, and even if I’ve repeated things before via posts, I still like to ramble and explore her character regardless cause writing her also sorta comforts me ;v;

I don’t want to come off as disrespectful, as that’s never my intent, so please always let me know when I’m depicting or writing something wrong!

Do you like questions, which help you explore your character? — ABSOLUTELY. As I’ve said before, I always love exploring her character and if there’s an opportunity given when I can write my heart out about it, then I’m always down.

If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why? — I mean? I’d love to hear the perspective about it, and I think it depends on said headcanon. If it’s based on history accuracy, then yes I will be open to it. However, if it’s something like personal preferences/etc, then....well, I’ll respect opinions as always, but unless there’s an issue with it, I’d like to keep my headcanons as it is if it doesn’t cause anyone trouble.

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? — I won’t take it personally? I mean, we all have opinions---right? I’m not here to really....please anyone, so if you don’t like my portrayal, then I completely understand. But please don’t rub it in my face as to why.

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? — Okay. So. I had an issue a long time ago when a stan of a character in the same movie came to talk to me on discord. I can actually....tell that they were diminishing Imelda’s character, considering they were borderline kinda being sexist towards her (because the character they stanned didn’t like her so...)? I kind of regret not taking a stand on it, cause usually I’m not here to look for drama (ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S JUST RP), but I won’t lie and say it bothered me in so many ways because they KNEW I wrote Imelda and liked her as a character, but they didn’t choose to respect that (I fondly remember them saying said character would make fun of her so bad and call her names....something along the lines of it and ugh. not a pleasant memory). And there was that one other incident too regarding Imelda’s character being hated on by another....so, I’ll just say this once:

If you have a problem with Imelda as a character, that’s fine. People can hate on character and that’s absolutely okay. I have characters I hate too, and while I do opinionate them from time to time, I don’t go out of my way to shove it in front of everyone’s faces and tell them they’re the absolute worst. Just please be aware of how you’re saying it, and if it bothers you that much---why are you even following me on this account?? lol But, yeah.

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? — YES. I make mistakes ALL the time, and while I do gloss over drafts/answers before posting them out, I’m bound to still make them. So please, it’d be helpful if y’all pointed it out once in a while ;v;/

Do you think you are easy going as a mun? — I try to? Like, this is a hobby for me, and I’m here to chill. As I’ve stated multiple times, I’m not here for drama and all that stuff, so.....I hope I come off that way? Uhhh active WIPs?  About...four.  Defenders of Earth, Lionheart, Esurience, and Traitors’ Loyal.  Everything else is backburner or stuff that I only work on when I get some major inspiration to do so.

Definitely quiet keyboards.

3.       Who was your first OC?

Rin Asaje!  She was originally made for some Bleach fanfiction, but now she’s one of the main characters of Gods of War.  She’s come a long way from disgraced noble death warrior to super duper disgraced hunger demon. :P

4.       Are there any common themes that come up in a lot of wips or characters?

Ah yes, my oh so beloved “character is hiding something about themself from others because of fear of rejection” trope.  Also noteworthy, my visitation of grey morality in basically everything I do.

5.       Are there any genres you currently write for now that you never thought you would write for when you first started?

Not particularly.  Scifi and fantasy are pretty standard for me, though I am surprised that I’ve been getting more into scifi lately.

Definitely protagonists lmao.  My antagonists tend to be a bit lacking compared to protags, imo.

Okay so in Lionheart no one wears shoes!  They wear footwraps/foot covering instead and it’s threaded with magic to protect people’s feet from the elements/outside harm and it’s such a small thing but I’ve adored the idea since I first came up with it like???  Idk man it’s such an aesthetic.

Heya!

.I’m not really one to create petitions for stuff, but this came to my attention and I decided that, hey, maybe I could try to do something and see what happens?

I don’t know how many of you know this, but E.W Scripps has announced that they’re planning to shut down Qubo with their acquisition of Qubo’s parent company near the end of February. I don’t know about you, but that makes me livid!!!

I know that many people have a childhood connection to that channel in the 14 or so years it’s been on the air, with it offering a lot of obscure-ish gems such as Jacob Two-Two/Jane and the Dragon/Being Ian.

They want to replace Qubo with more of their networks, the Katz networks, but who has connection to that? Who has a fondness for Katz? WHERE’S THE NOSTALGIA, E.W? WHERE IS IT?!

So, I’ve created this petition to try to stop E.W Scripps from making a very foolish and stupid mistake! It would mean a lot to me if you sign it/signal boost it so that it gets around!

The ‘Chip is actually not a bad guy’ Big City Greens AU

Here’s an AU I literally canNOT stop thinking about.

In it, Chip isn’t an antagonist and works at Big Coffee with Gloria, and unlike his canon counterpart, is actually pretty chill/slight ‘stoner’ stereotype, also REALLY lazy. He still has a problem with chipping his teeth, but he’s not insane, lmao.

I HC that his father owns Big Coffee as well as being the CEO of Wholesome Foods, so he put his son to work there to learn how to well, adult in the real world. Mrs. Cho is still the boss of the shop, that hasn’t changed.

Who’s BCG main villain then? Gwendolyn, because she has a few screws loose and that if pushed in the wrong way, could very well become the same-type of villain that Chip is canonly.

I also HC here that Chip plays himself off as being dumb and not having the smarts to really do anything ‘unique’ though he’s actually pretty smart, he just doesn’t apply himself, which would be shown in the ‘Chipocalypse Now’ (Gwendocalypse Now?) equivalent, where Gwendolyn buys Big Coffee and the apartment complex and builds a lab or something sciencey there, with her plan to run the Greens out of town by destroying their home to build not a parking lot, but a rocket-ship launch pad or something more... her.

Anyways, Chip is ticked off at this turn of events, because he doesn’t like working with his stuck-up coworkers at Wholesome Foods, at least Cricket and Gloria were fun, especially Cricket.

So with the power of his secret intelligence and cleverness, he manages to find a hole in Gwendolyn’s plan, and exploits it as much as he can, giving the Greens the winning edge they need.

I feel that much like canon events, his dad would give him CEO since the man finally put some effort into doing good, though unlike canon, he actually deserves it and isn’t going to abuse the power like his canon-self did.

TLDR; Chaotic evil bastard man turned into chaotic good, less of a bastard man. He gets proper character development and a personality.

Daniel, the guy Dante from Question #5 dated. He tried to spur a rebellion within the faction he and Dante served, but due to some lore bullshit regarding Dante, Daniel was left blameless and Dante was exiled in his stead.

8: Two or more OCs who are connected (and how)

Faith, Wolfgang and Enoch are the three Branwen Children, a kind of Moirae that are borne of the eldest God of Death. Together, they oversee the death of gods, ensuring that all immortal deities meet their end when they should. 

Faith is in charge of overseeing the fates of all the gods in the world. She makes sure they all complete their stories; their reigns and their downfalls. 

Wolfgang is, begrudgingly, Faith’s assistant. The immortal world is a vast place, one that one soul couldn’t ever watch over alone. So, he handles surveillance, making sure that every deity plays their part, and nothing more. 

And when the gods try to rebel, when they grow too self-absorbed in their own “brilliance” they believe they should never die? They send in Enoch, the Reaper. Enoch is the most active of the Three Children, and the only one of them who has actually killed gods. Her role is to slay any deity that chooses not to die, which, admittedly, doesn’t happen often. Enoch is also the most rebellious of the Three Children, being the youngest. She actively lives in the mortal world, choosing to live amongst the puny mortals whose watchers she is sworn to slay. Enoch was actually the first sibling to give herself a name, for her convenience in the mortal world.

Given their elusive positions, the Branwens are more or less omnipresent in my fictional worlds, and are a prominent (albeit rarely-mentioned) part of a larger shared universe I’ve been writing.

I have an OC who’s part of a lost order dedicated to maintaining peace in an apocalyptic wasteland--through fear. To cultivate that kind of fear, this order would style themselves after Death; the Grim Reaper, specifically. They wore all black and wielded scythes, as well as commanding a fierce arsenal of magic and custom firearms.

But I didn’t think of that shit at the time. You know what I thought up? The aesthetic. Black clothes and a wide-brimmed hat for keeping out the sun. 

Especially the hat.

Because I was waiting in line outside the DMV on a bright, sunny-ass day, and I started daydreaming with the thought “Wow, I could really do with a cowboy hat.”

Lemme tell you he’s been through a lot of changes--started off as personified Death’s son, one who was hella 2000′s goth and was literally called “Lucifer Crescent,” THEN he became part of an angel/demon war and was renamed “Dante,” but he and several other kids took on the names of dead Angels to carry on an ancient tradition of passing on their power, and NOW he’s part of that second story, but heavily revised in that it’s no longer in a fantasy world and they now wage a shadow war across a low fantasy environment.

worked 10-1 (we close early this week for evals) & then ran to safeway to pick up some medical supplies and food for the potluck we had at work at 2:30

it was actually pretty fun, they had a little ceremony with those awards tashina implied lucie would be getting. i got one for front desk, one for art, and one for being chill, which i assured them all was a mistake bc i’ve never been chill in my life

the potluck sort of devolved into a discussion of the impending invasion tomorrow. campus is going to be handed over to the state troopers at three so the “rights” we had as students are null and void. idk like having been a foot from the person who got arrested last week i’m pretty damn sure state troopers don’t give a fuck about whatever being on campus affords us as students. they just want people to do as they say, and respect the parade of whichever circus comes to town telling us to kill whichever minority and repent for our sins

administration is caught in this shitty limbo between respecting what this place is supposed to be, and conforming to the state’s (and society’s) expectations and i’m Not a Fucking Fan

had therapy after the potluck, went p well.. got her caught up on most stuff, although i think i forgot to mention the food stuff so Whooops.

after therapy i realized i’d forgotten my backpack at work... i texted somebody to let me in but they never showed up? fortunately the swim team was practicing so i could get in through the pool deck, and then my key card (which wouldn’t open the outside doors fsr??) got me into the office. a huge relief but also kind of an eye opener on Just How Easy it is to get in after hours lmao

got in one of those Super Fun conversations with my mom about politics.... always wind up feeling exasperated and frustrated tbh. it’s like our views are Just Similar Enough to lead to some real ideological shitshows, with her defaulting to a sort of “you’ll understand when you’re older” vibe & me getting increasingly antagonistic the more i feel i’m being condescended to (yeah alright, but this ain’t discourse, it’s a convo w my mother, sometimes i can be... bellicose), which leads to her spending most of the conversation clarifying that no, she didn’t mean it Like That--which, on the bright side, isn’t very patronizing. another reason i prefer to have these sorts of discussion through  text tbh.. not only is it easier to cite shit, but i have time to work through the groans of disbelieving aggravation

anyway i’ll have earplugs & some first aid stuff tomorrow if anybody needs ‘em so if you see me come on down

Meeting Pierce Brown

08/27/17 @ Raffles Makati for The Philippine Readers and Writers Festival #GoReadWrite2017 by National Bookstore

Hello! I’m really inactive on tumblr but I want to make a crappy visual (doodle) report/diary thing so that I can preserve this memory forever...or at least until this site exists. I dra—invited my biffle Gabby (@gabbyganchie on twitter) to come with me to Piece Brown’s Author Spotlight and Book Signing so that I won’t be a total awkward scarecrow, not to mention that it might be a once in a lifetime chance to meet Pierce Brown in the Philippines. She became a howler after I lend her my Red Rising trilogy books over a year ago and now, we’re lowkey crazy about this man’s books...

Gabby and I planned to meet at Raffles Makati at 6 AM even though the registration will start at 8:30 AM because the line for Pierce’s signing will be crazy with only 300 slots.

I arrived at Raffles at 6:15 AM with a line of over 30 people, including my buddies on Red Rising Philippines (a.k.a. The Philippine Howlers.) My first agenda is to meet Chai, the one who organized to buy members a cute Howler hat and claim mine. However, I didn’t went straight due to my awkward/shy tendencies and waited for over 30 minutes to go when we’re seated to wait for the registrations to open. 

After I got my hat, Chai also gave me a paper to raise up when Pierce makes his entrance for the Discussion later. I got to my seat and waited a bit more until they finally open the registration as early as 7:30 AM due to the growing crowd. We are asked to go outside again to form a line. I got my book signing ticket which is 40 out of 300 with a sampler of Pierce Brown’s Iron Gold and ID as an attendee of  The Philippine Readers and Writers Festival almost around 8:15 AM. They also gave away free entrance pass for the upcoming 2017 Manila International Book Fair.

My friend Gabby still hasn’t arrived yet so I waited for her until she arrived around 9:45 AM. Apparently, she got lost b̶̶̶u̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶I̶̶̶ ̶̶̶w̶̶̶o̶̶̶n̶̶̶’̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶g̶̶̶o̶̶̶ ̶̶̶i̶̶̶n̶̶̶t̶̶̶o̶̶̶ ̶̶̶t̶̶̶o̶̶̶ ̶̶̶d̶̶̶e̶̶̶t̶̶̶a̶̶̶i̶̶̶l̶̶̶ ̶̶̶b̶̶̶e̶̶̶c̶̶̶a̶̶̶u̶̶̶s̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶h̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶m̶̶̶i̶̶̶g̶̶̶h̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶m̶̶̶a̶̶̶c̶̶̶k̶̶̶ ̶̶̶m̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶o̶̶̶ ̶̶̶I̶̶̶’̶̶̶l̶̶̶l̶̶̶ ̶̶̶l̶e̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶̶̶h̶̶̶i̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶i̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶i̶̶̶s̶̶̶.

We ate our brunch at Tim Ho Wan. Both of us were really sleepy and hungry but our conversations about the trilogy and Iron Gold is full of enthusiasm because we’re so pumped to see Pierce Brown later. Afterwards, we strolled around nearby malls until we decided to go back at 1:30 PM to wait on Ballroom 2 of the hotel where the discussion and signing will be held.

We arrived to Ballroom 2 past 1:30 PM and the seats are almost 90% full! We hurried to find at least a decent seat and we did find out somewhere 4-5 away from the last row. Gabby and I also reserved one more seat for two of our friends that’ll be coming later.

It’s a very interesting sight. People of different walks of life and age are attending. As a fan, it made me smile a lot. Few minutes later, the venue is full and there are no seats available anymore but the organizers added more seats at the corner rows a̶s̶ ̶f̶a̶s̶t̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶s̶a̶n̶i̶c̶. Because I’m seated on a corner row, adding new seats made me have new seatmates. They’re very chill middle-aged women that didn’t know much about Pierce but very interested to listen on the discussion. 

Gabby and I just talk about random stuff like on how I said that Pierce’s display picture on the projector looks like he escaped some room and is about to expose the antagonist of some story. Gabby defended him and told me that he looks really handsome on the picture which I agreed 100% 

The discussion started 5 minutes earlier than scheduled (2 PM) and when Pierce stepped inside the room, I’d never been so drown with screams and howling a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶s̶a̶y̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶l̶o̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶w̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶a̶ ̶l̶o̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶o̶s̶p̶l̶a̶y̶e̶r̶s̶/̶a̶r̶t̶i̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶i̶g̶n̶i̶n̶g̶.̶ Even the boys are screaming. Is this really a discussion and book signing event or J-Pop/K-Pop idol fan meeting? Despite saying this, I was also howling while making a heart sign at one point after I got tired of raising the printed wolf picture I got from Chai so I’m not the one to talk. LOL. The charisma of the man that’s been labeled as the “Hottest ‘Young Adult’ Author in the World” is a force to reckon with.

As soon I’d witness this sight, I know that it’ll be a different book discussion than anything I’d ever attended in my lifetime. You know, the formal clapping and the stuffy professional air on discussions? You know what I’m talking about. I didn’t feel anything like that and I’m very happy that I didn’t feel something similar to that ‘cause it means Pierce doesn’t put invisible barriers within himself and us fans.

The discussion started and it was an amazing one. It opened on the steps of Red Rising Trilogy as a successful book and what are the elements inspired the theme of the book + Iron Gold. Like seriously. I want to talk about it point by point but I haven’t written it down and my brain is still in post #PierceBrowninPH blues so I’ll just list down the highlights/left the lasting impression to me:

- Pierce has a love affair going on with adobo. - He’s also loving bagoong. - He thanked his girlfriend for the support (which most girls answered you’re welcome. LMAO.) - He’s going to Palawan tomorrow (August 28, 2017) - Pierce’s mom didn’t read the first book he finished but pretended that she did. - He tried to write 4k words a day like Stephen King but it made his family stressed by the pressure he puts on himself.  - He writes once day without any time/goal set but tries to make at least 4 hrs. a day. - Pierce wanted to talk more about the red Rising movie that is in development but Hollywood wants to keep it shut for now so he didn’t say much.  - For aspiring writers: Keep writing and keep trying. (He said a lot of very inspiring stuff before he said this so...yeah.)

Pierce Brown’s discussion is a success and the crowd gave a loud yet sophisticated applause with howls. It’s time for the awaited Q & A. The majority is itching to ask questions but only less than 10 people are entertained. It was a very intense Q & A. The questions are directly related to the series which the host is very surprised with as I observed. Pierce answered every question in detail which is totally satisfying. To Eriele who cosplayed Eo and asked about Roque and Tactus’ possible relationship to Pierce, I salute you! I’m so happy to know that there’s a PH howler passionate about Roque and Tactus’ possible relationship like me.

I really want to ask him about Lysander’s character inspiration and thought process while making him + his future characteristics after all the shit happened in the trilogy and how it will affect his actions at Iron Gold. I’m quite salty not being picked because I’m raising my hand with my whole might without standing or making a scene and the host still didn’t notice me. ̶I̶’̶M̶ ̶V̶E̶R̶Y̶ ̶S̶A̶L̶T̶Y. 

Gabby comforted me that there’ll be next time if Pierce’ll return to Philippines again to promote Iron Gold while the middle-aged women beside me roasted the host to cheer me up because they observed that the host is only calling the one’s on their left side. I thanked them and told that I’ll try to bring up my question on the book signing instead.

The time for the book signing has finally arrived and the first 20 people are called. Pierce is seated and has a long black table in front of him. I observed that the first batch took pictures while Pierce is still seated with the long table blocking fans apart so at some point, Pierce encouraged the fans to go at his side. I want to call them the lucky ones because Pierce talked to them for quite a long time. After that, he disappeared (to probably take a break) for almost 15 minutes. He returned not wearing his suit anymore and changed his orange shirt with a black one with some organizers bringing a circle high table and have the long black table moved slightly at the back. 

What an amazing man. He could leave that as it is but he wanted a closer interaction to fans so he decided that he’ll sign the books standing. Take note that he needs to interact with 280 more people and sign over 300 books. I saw posts of people who waited until the end of the signing that he stood for over 3 hours without taking a break. With that arranged, the second batch is called. It’s finally my turn. Hallelujah! My friend Kris who arrived at the middle of the discussion offered to document the moment of my signing which I’m very thankful for. The turns are a lot quicker compared to the first batch (most likely due to a schedule) so I didn’t wait really long until it’s my turn and get to see him up close.

We looked each other on the eye and while almost everyone says that he’s hot, can we also talk about his eyes? It’s a different genre. It’s hypnotizing. I now get why Sevro collects people’s eyeballs because eyes like Pierce Brown exist. 

I also need to mention that we smoothly shook hand. Like...ho—how? I never had a smooth handshake when meeting someone new. I’m a bit scared with handshakes because I know that it’ll end up awkward but on some miracle, it didn’t happen with Pierce. Here’s how our conversation went after the handshake —  Pierce: Mae? Have we talked before? Me: Yeah. Back when Morning Star was released. I asked you when will the paperback will come out and you said it’ll be out six months later. I told you that I couldn’t wait that long so I pre-ordered the hardbound because our bookstore don’t have it yet. There’s also that one time at goodreads. Also, I replied to your tweet days ago regarding #GoReadWrite2017. P: I saw your tweet and liked it. Thank you for coming! And yes, I remember that! I find it strange that it wasn’t out on the bookstore when it’s a worldwide release. M: My cousin borrowed my copy of the trilogy w/c includes my hardbound Morning Star and hasn’t returned it since so I bought your books again. P: Your cousin is a cheeky book thief...! *signs my books* M: Yeah. I asked for my books a lot of times but they never returned it. [National Bookstore official gesturing to take my phone for the photo] M̶e̶ ̶(̶t̶h̶o̶u̶g̶h̶t̶s̶)̶:̶ Oh crap. I haven’t told him my inner geek -ings about Lysander. What to do?! M: *glances on my phone* Before I forgot, I drew Victra! I was supposed to give you a print but I haven’t finished on time so this drawing is still incomplete. *shows drawing* P: Oh wow, she looks lovely with that dress. Make sure to tweet it to me once you finished it. Pierce then pointed at the official. He got really antsy because I talked more and my phone hanged when I’m about to set the camera. My friend Kris also took some pictures when the official tried to stop him because the policy said that only the official is the one that’s allowed to take a picture but Pierce being so smooth to this signing told the official that it’s fine.

I haven’t told a pose to do so Pierce settled on holding my shoulder while I shakily hold his waist because of the height difference. I think he felt my hand shaking so he gave a light squeeze to the shoulder before he told that we’re ready to take a picture. 

After the picture is taken, Pierce handed me my books and added before we parted— Thank you for supporting my books...twice! Also, tell your cousin that they need to return your books or the reaper will come to them.

I feel like my brain melted a bit after talking to him to the point when Gabby asked me almost instantly on how is it, my sentences are pretty incoherent. When I recovered, I told her that I forgot to ask Pierce for a hug so I’m hoping that she’ll avenge for me. Gabby did ask Pierce for a hug but Pierce told her that “You’re free to hug me even if you didn’t ask.” (If you want her story on what happened to their meeting, bug her on twitter). I hugged Gabby tightly as soon as she returned and said that she avenged for me. I have such awesome friends.

Once we went out on the venue, me together with Gabby, Kris & Nat (that arrived 3 turns before my turn on the signing) strolled around the floor and took pictures before we decided to eat dinner at Kenny Rogers. We conversed and strolled more until we decided to travel back home.

Writing all what happened still feels surreal to me that I’m having a post-signing withdrawal. I’m thankful for National Bookstore that they invited Pierce to come over in the Philippines. I PM -ed them over a year ago about Pierce and when NBS announced that they’ll have him at #GoReadWrite2017, I’m beyond ecstatic and searched for a local Red Rising FB group. Joining the Red Rising Philippines, I discovered that there are a lot of PH Howlers that requested Pierce to visit Philippines too. I’m really glad that NBS reciprocated to our feelings. 

Finally, Thank you Pierce Brown for coming in the Philippines. We Filipino howlers appreciate it so much! I hope that you’ll enjoy your last few days here and hopefully, visit us again soon.
