if i am being honest. it is scary trying to be a quote unquote creator with no imagination. i cried about this in a dream i had a few nights back. i cried knowing i didnt know what to create. i cried knowing the face i drew was stolen from a pose i saw. i cried knowing the face i drew was a design someone else made. i cried knowing i cant do anything without stealing from someone else.

there were women in that dream, watching me cry. one of them came to hold me, sitting in front of that canvas (a tool i could never use. im too scared, in my life, that the money spent on the canvas and the paint and the brushes and the easel would all be for nothing when i realized i couldnt even think of anything to draw, much less to draw anything). but she had nothing to tell me. i had nothing to tell myself, to tell someone who cant make anything for themself, to tell someone who cant think for themself.

but when i wake up, i still choose to try to create. i still want to create. it makes me less alone.

i think the most interesting thing about generative AI is how it relates to neuroscience?

Like first and foremost i will say its obviously not conscious in the way a human or animal is conscious. BUt i dont necessarily think the small part of the brain that controls the images we see when dreaming is "conscious", its just a tool our brain uses. And we have been able to use machinery to do something vaguely similar to that- especially with video that doesnt Quite know how people work and doesnt care for continuity or how many fingers something has-it can boil something down to a vague concept in a beautifully distorted way. It reminds me of those images that were like "this is how the world looks to a stroke patient". and basically what a stroke does is restrict blood to the brain shutting down certain areas- turning it into a simpler machine with less processing power. like a computer

blah blah i dont consider myself an AI bro, i am an artist who has personally actually lost a job bc of AI, but ill be annoyed if someone goes "why are you ROMANTICIZING AI" because im romanticizing the pure science here not the slop and you cant tell me what to do rant oveur
