It felt like the right time to crack open this 2017 Foppiano Petite Sirah. It turns out to have been a great call. This variety is popping up more across Northern California wine regions and we’ve had several from various AVAs. But we have a soft spot for Sonoma PS, and Russian River Valley in particular. This Foppiano was everything I want my PS to be: deep, dark brooding purple; explosively aromatic; tannins you have to chew; and a jumble of dark fruits, pepper and spice. They present Petite Sirah as their flagship wine and we can see why. They are just 11 miles from our place in Forestville so .... a visit is imminent! β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” #petitesirah #durif #foppianovineyards #russianriverava #russianrivervalley #russianriver #russianrivervalleywines #sonomawine #sonomawinecountry #redwine #winecountryliving #winecountry #visitsonomavalley #visitsonoma #winelady #womeninwine https://www.instagram.com/p/CLo7xcbrNy6/?igshid=1jnlvf4bwy706

Do you buy wine at Costco? As an importer and seller myself, I am very impressed with the range of wines and the prices their scale allows them to offer. So that’s a β€œyes” for me. I was buying glasses at Costco yesterday and I couldn’t resist these 3 gems - all priced under or around $20. And John was feeling left out so he got a 21 pound ribeye (plenty for just the two of us?). Anyway ...about the wines ... β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”- The first wine - Westside Crossing Pinot Noir - is a companion label of one our favorite Russian River wineries, Moshin Vineyards. Same winemaker - Rick Moshin. Grapes sourced 50/50 from estate vineyards and their neighbors’ choice Russian River vines. So excited to try this - thinking it could become an every day Pinot at this price. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” 2017 Foppiano Vineyards Estate Petite Sirah. We recently enjoyed a tasting of the Foppiano wines through @mtwwines so I had to grab this one. Plus - they are so close to our place in Forestville. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” 2018 Belle-Vue Petit Verdot from Haut-Medoc in Bordeaux (left bank). This one is entirely new to me but I was intrigued by the single- varietal approach from a region where this variety is almost always a blending grape. The winery actually has 20% of its vines planted to PV. The wine was aged in a combination of Italian amphora, new Austrian oak, and twice- and three-times-used barrels. Very interested to try this one! β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” #costco #costcofinds #costcowine #moshinvineyards #foppianovineyards #bellevuewine #pinotnoir #petitverdot #petitesirah #wine #instawine #winestagram #wineboss #winelady #womeninwine #womeninwinebusiness (at Costco) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLe1J8grPNw/?igshid=5l8ybivubp6q
