Hey guys! I'm going to be opening up for Hero Forge Mini Commissions!

Do you have a DND character that you want 3D Modelled? Maybe an OC? Or maybe, you redesigned one of your favorite characters, and want your design modelled? Well, look no further! I've been using HeroForge for a couple years now, and I absolutely love going through and designing characters with it!

The only catch is that right now all I can do right now is design them! I eventually do plan on getting access to a 3dPrinter at some point so I can do the whole process, printing them out and sending them off, but for right now all I can do is design it and send you the link so that you can get it printed either through HeroForge or have a friend print one off if they have a 3DPrinter!

As part of the COVID-19 International Research Team, researchers at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Pittsburgh and Weill Cornell Medicine discovered a novel cause of cytokine storm -; the extreme inflammatory response associated with increased risk of death in COVID-19 infection.

Their findings were reported Nov. 27 in the online issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

In an intensive genomic search for causes of cytokine storm, the research team used autopsy samples obtained from 40 patients who died from COVID-19. They performed genome analysis on samples taken from multiple sites, including the lung, heart, liver, kidney, lymph nodes in the chest that initially filter the virus, and the nasal cavity where the virus enters the body.

They zeroed in on some 50 upregulated immune genes in the samples obtained from nasal swabs and followed through in the genomics for the autopsy tissues.

Stephen Baylin, M.D., Virginia and D.K. Ludwig Professor for Cancer Research and co-senior author, and first author Michael Topper, Ph.D., Evelyn Grollman Glick Scholar and instructor in oncology, were

familiar with many of the genes as part of the inflammasome, a protein signaling network they helped define that is activated to rid the body of virus or bacteria-infected cells.

"Some of the same genes involved in overactivation of the inflammasome appear to be key immune gene regulators of the hyperinflammatory process that leads to a new view of how these subsequently activate the "cytokine storm syndrome" and severely damage multiple tissues, says Topper.

The genes should turn on and off, Baylin explains, but when they stay on, it results in cytokine storm, the very severe inflammation that can be lethal to patients with COVID.

Essentially, immune genes in the nasal cavity, where the virus enters, send signals downstream through a system called renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) to initiate cytokine storm.

RAAS, a hormone system that normally turns on and off to help regulate blood pressure, body fluids and electrolytes, is the spark that pushes the immune response into overdrive, the researchers found, compromising the infection-fighting function of lymph nodes and causing severe damage to the lungs, kidneys, heart, liver and other organs.

The researchers also believe their findings may have implications for long COVID, a chronic condition following COVID-19 infection that is characterized by a wide range of symptoms, including fever, fatigue, coughing, chest pain, heart palpitations, headaches, joint and muscle pain, gastrointestinal issues and more. This is a focus of ongoing research, Topper and Baylin say.

In addition to Baylin and Topper, other researchers participating in the investigation are co-first author Joseph W. SKUYEN BIRDEE (skoo-yen bir-dee), a jade! skuyen uses she/her pronouns. a fairly respected matron of a small cavern, skuyen is able to pass off her slightly shady dealings as empire secrets. why is she shady?

well, she has wings. they're jade colored and insectoid, but more moth-like than dragonfly-like. luckily, they're extremely small, and so she can hide them under her clothes with only minimal discomfort.

apart from her wings, she's fairly average for a jade; 6'8", stocky, and prone to insomnia. her hair she wears very long, as she's been growing it out for 40 sweeps, and she lets it hang down anytime it won't get in her way.

she has downward angled eyes, a sharp, curved nose, and shark-like teeth. her claws tend to grow very fast, and she has terrible posture, since the cavern she runs is shockingly small. her horns are fairly small and sharp, growing in a triangular slope from the top of her head, but are flat at the front.

her lusus is a very reptilian shoebill stork, that is just over 5' tall

her hobbies include genetic research (off the clock use of the relatively defunct blood lab), scrolling dating apps obsessively (mostly haemoQuadratic, even though it literally costs 10% of her income and also some of her blood every month) and just generally waiting for whatever comes Next

Gasters Scar - Part 2

"What have I done.." Gaster was almost frozen for a moment before suddenly grabbing his desk chair and slamming it against the chamber, immediately shattering the glass. He used his magic to grab Chrys, lifting her up with his extra hands and carrying her out of the lab, which he sealed off to go through a sort of magical cleaning that would get rid of the gas. He brought her over to his actual office, laying her on his desk before calling Reappo. "I need you to come to the lab, now.. Its Chrys-" He couldn't even finish his sentence before Reappo suddenly blipped into existence beside him

"What happened?!" Reap shouted as he rushed to Chrystals side, immediately moving to pick her up.. But he was stopped by Gaster, who put an arm out to stop him

"You can't touch her right now.. She's covered with the toxin-" His was cut off by his arm being pushed out of the way

Reap glared up at Gaster, his pupils glowing blue in their sockets "What did you do to her..?" His voice was low as he spoke, obviously upset

Gaster sighed as he took a step back "I didn't do anything.. She agreed to do the testing. I wanted to see if she was truly immune, or if it was only targeting one part of her soul.. The mechanism that filtered the gas into the chamber must have poured all of it in there at once, I couldn't stop it-"

"You put her in a fuckin container with the shit that's been killing us?! And you just waited until she passed out to get her out?!" Reappos hands balled into fists as he glared at Gaster "I'm gonna take her to Alphys.. I swear to Asgore, if she doesn't wake up.. I'll throw your dust into the Core myself" He turned, picking up Chrystal carefully and leaving the office

Gaster reached out towards Reap, going to stop him… And was met with a flurry of glowing blue bones shooting towards him. Most of them just pushed him back, but.. One was a direct hit, cracking open his skull above his left eye from the force. He winced, holding his head as he leaned back against the wall.. Deciding to just let Reappo leave.

Reappo immediately just warped to Alphys' lab in the Oasis, and after doing his best to explain what happened, Alphys had Reappo lay her on one of the examination tables and told him to wait in her office while she worked. About an hour later, she came back to her office, looking tired. She explained that she'd been able to get Chrystals breathing stable again… but with how much gas she'd inhaled.. it got to her soul, and had began to cover her lungs. Her throat was extremely irritated as well, most likely from coughing. Reappo could take her home, but she needed to stay in bed resting for a few days… That wasn't really an issue though, as Chrystal didn't wake up for 2 weeks. Alphys had to setup an IV of water and a magic equivalent to food for sustenance, and after the first week she'd noticed that the skin on Chrystals chest had started to darken.. Seemingly from the toxin in her lungs.

After a little over 2 weeks, Reappo was woken up in the middle of the night to Chrys having a coughing fit, having ripped out the IV in a panic as she sat up in her bed, holding her chest with one hand and looking down at the other, which was covered with black gunk. Reappo was able to calm her down after a few minutes, and immediately called Alphys to let her know Chrys was awake.. Chrystal explained what happened at the Lab, what she could remember at least.. and since then, she's had horrible coughing fits at least a few times a week. She still goes up on collection missions, but now wears a gas mask to help her breathe… though, as the years have gone by, it seems like she's able to spend less and less time up there without losing her breath and coughing..

Hmmm depends on the situation... I could say many things or just make sounds as responses while confusing you on what each sound means, haahahahhaa. I could also just stay silent like I'm not there because it seems like people only notice me when I make a sound, hah.

I don't really know anything that I would normally say besides like a "hm?" but that's just more when I need more info on something or didn't quite catch what was said. (I'm not good at giving straight answers hah, especially if I don't even know)
