You lay in your bed, bored, to say the least. Today, you had no plans at all, and all your friends were busy. Including your best friend, Jude. Apparently, he was going to be babysitting his nieces, you knew he was good with kids but told him:

“If you need help just tell me, okay?”

You were no stranger to his nieces, after all, you were like family to the Bellinghams. Knowing his aunts, grandparents, cousins, and nieces and nephews. They treated you as family and you reciprocated that.

Of course, when Jude heard you say that he instantly replied with an “I don't need help, I'm good with kids.”

You laughed it off, knowing he’ll need help at least at one point, but you didn't say that to him. So now, you still lay there bored as ever. Watching as the warm sun seeps into your window, casting an orange hue on your body as you look at the window. You could hear the low voices of your phone lightly exuding music from its speakers, making the surroundings more tranquil. You observed as people walked around your neighborhood, immediately thinking that you should too.

And just as you were going to go on a walk, a vibration came on your phone. Inside, you hoped it was Jude so you can prove him wrong, saying that he did need help from his best friend. A smile played on your face as you thought about it, you extended your hand for the buzzing phone, producing noise as its laying on your sheets. Instantly your eyes darted to the contact name, you smiled even harder.

Judith.

A silly nickname you called Jude, eventually making it his contact name after he mentioned it. You brought your phone to your ear as you press the green button, and his voice bleeds from the phone's speakers. Some unidentified shuffling came through and some giggles and laughs. A grin tints your face.

“Okay, you were right I do need help…” Jude sighs.

Your chuckle fills the whole call, “Of course you do. Send me the location.”

He says a quick okay, ending the call fast. You flitted to grab your car & house keys before strolling out the door. The fresh breeze wafts into your nose as you inhale, making you feel serenity. You made your way to your car, clambering inside as you wait for it to start.

And when it starts you make your way through windy roads and scenic views. England wasn't always thought of as the most beautiful, but it definitely had pretty sceneries.

You eventually made your way, moving toward the entrance of the house. It was for sure one of the prettier neighborhoods around here, not to say your neighborhood was the worst, but this one was definitely better. Your arm extended, folding into a fist as you knock on the black wooden door.

Patiently you waited for your best friend to open the door. You heard some noises from inside the house and footsteps gradually become louder and louder like a crescendo. Click! Was the sound the door made as it opened ajar. A toddler peeking through the black door. Immediately, you recognized who it was.

“Hi Nalia, where’s Uncle Jude?” you asked, tilting your head. She looked back, and Jude came into view as he scrambled to the door with another baby, who you also recognized. You chuckled, seeing as the other baby, Jazelle, was wrapped around his waist. Sweat beads fall down his face.

“I’m right… Here,” he said, panting.

“You look…” you began, looking at him up and down. His shirt was off, revealing his muscles, and overall he looked disheveled. But somehow he still looked perfect as ever. “Like a mess.”

He chuckled, “I know, anyways come inside. The girls want to go to the park.” he gestured for you to enter, closing the door after you did.

“I'm gonna go shower and change, take care of these two, please.” he put Jazelle down after planting a kiss on Jazelle and Nalia, running off to what you assumed was the bathroom.

You nodded and kneeled down to the two of them with a warm smile, “Do you, girls want to play while we wait for Uncle Jude?”

The girls responded with an excited “Yes!” jumping up and down. A cordial smile rolled down your lips as Jazelle and Nalia dashed to their playroom. You watched as Nalia passed by Jazelle, and you let out a chortle. Everything is a competition if you have siblings.

You finally made it to the playroom, and damn it was very nice. Nicer than whatever you had in your childhood. The playroom was littered with toys, some that you recognized, some that you didn't.

You look at the kids, playing Barbies with each other. You rest your head on your hand with a smile adorning your face as you sat down on a little chair. Their little voices and giggles overwhelm your ears and the smile that once adorned your face was even more brighter. Some day, you wanted a husband and a happy family. But for right now, you were fine being alone.

If you were going to be honest, watching Jazelle and Nalia play Barbies together made your baby–fever rise. You’ve always dreamt of kids and honestly, you didn't mind having a baby currently. You didn't get how people resented children because all you wanted to do was hug them and hold them in your arms for hours.

You were too stuck in your thoughts to realize Jude finished getting ready, “Hey, we should go to the park now.”

You nodded as you watched Jude playfully tickle the kids and pick them up. Your heart was beating faster than normal… Something you’ve never felt with Jude. Deep inside you knew what these feelings were, you knew it all too well. Maybe, it's just a one–time thing. The next time you hang out with him it’ll be all back to normal.

“Hey, Y/N/N ready to go?”

Your head whizzed in his direction, and both of the girls were strapped on his hips. A blush tinted your cheeks, he was wearing a goddamn compression shirt.

“Y–yeah! Let's go ladies and gentlemen!” you chuckled, getting up and walking towards the entrance.

Walking out of the house, you all advanced to the cars. “We should probably use your car… It has the booster seat things, right?”

Jude nodded, “Can you take my keys and open the car?”

You reach into his pocket, searching for the keys. As soon as the car keys meet your hand you take them and unlock the car.

You settled down on a bench, watching as Jazelle and Nalia play on the playground. You monitor them carefully, you didn't want their parents blaming you and Jude for getting their babies hurt.

And just as you were about chat with Jude an old lady walked up to the both of you. “You guys are a really cute couple! I remember me and my husband at this exact playground watching our kids. Are those two cuties yours?” she pointed to Jazelle and Nalia.

“No–”

“Yeah! They are.” Jude smiled, slinging his arm around your waist which struck an uneasy feeling to settle in your stomach.

It wasn't like the bad uneasy though, it was the uneasy where you had so many butterflies in your stomach to the point you just wanted to kiss them in the face. Like… Like a crush.

“They really do look like Dad don't they?” the grandma chucled, glancing over at the sisters.

You chuckled along with her, “They really do! I was hoping that they looked like me, but as soon as I saw her the first time out of my womb I was like ‘Uh oh, she doesn't look like me!’”

You all erupt in laughter, “I get that… All my children look like my husband it's crazy!” the grandma said.

You both awkwardly smile at her, “Anyway, you two have the cutest little family. I wish you two a successful marriage and a happy family!”

You both let out a thank you and as soon as she walks away you both look at each other, exploding in laughter.

But one thing you didn't notice, was how he kept his arm around your waist, and you didn't say a single word about it.

It was nearly midnight when you and Jude had just finished the original spiderman movie, it was a last minute idea seeing as neither of you could fall asleep. You had him on your chest, the entire time playing with his curls while giving him a head massage as he just hummed in content. 

An idea sparked in your mind as you went to grab the controller when the credits rolled in. “Jude?” you called out his name softly, tugging some lose strands behind your ear. You started to wonder if he fell asleep, not being surprised if he was seeing how tired he ends up after practice but instead he let out a tired hum, opening his right eye just slightly. 

You pulled yourself closer to the end of the couch as his head slipped to your lap. His eyes opened curiously but you reassured him laying his head back down. You rested your hands on the sides of his face, leaning down. It wasn’t until Jude could feel your lips graze his that he understood what you were doing, feeling his own lips lift up in a curve of amusement as you connected your lips to his own. 

Even with the semi awkward position, your lips felt naturally attached to his and he reciprocated quite easily, following the movement already feeling the need to deepen it but the second he attempted to try anything you pulled away. You noticed his eyes now fully open ready to pull you back in but you just got up and headed to the bedroom with only a smirk playing on your lips as Jude trailed behind you

You're gonna wanna read the tags and warnings on this one because it is an angst-filled epic that jumps around in time through the years of Leo's career. Breathtaking at times and still a work in progress (but updated pretty regularly), I've read it more than once and it's currently my favorite fic in fandom.

Taking Chances by loebala

Top and a bit of a dom Leo, but it's not just that it's the whole feel of this fic--Leo around La Scaloneta and the friendships and vibe is just fantastic. It's all told from Dibu's pov and it's everything I never knew I wanted lol. So smut but a whole lot of other stuff too :)

Mistakes I Made and Won't Bend by BermudaRhombus

This fic starts with Pep leaving Barca and deals with his friendship/relationship with Leo in the years afterward, up until the present. I think what I love about it is even though we've all seen how Pep talks about Leo in the press and what not, he still hasn't quite figured Leo out after all these years.

If you're in the mood for a little smutty abo, this is the one for you. And if you've been following me long enough, you know I like my abo consensual, so this one was right on the money for me. Leo's a little bit of a cocky shit which doesn't always do it for me, but here it does. Plus, Ramos? yes'm sign me up.

This one was a fun ride--but then again threesomes always are and even more so when everything doesn't always click into place. It starts after Leo's left PSG and has arrived in Miami, and explores how the three of them move from friendship into something more. Neymar doesn't know what the hell he wants, and Kylian is just struggling to hold onto Neymar. And then you've got Leo who's older and wiser but nonetheless invested in trying to keep his loved ones happy. I'm not a huge Kylian fan but this worked and it's well worth the read.

It's about Leo's troubles at PSG, dealing with shitty fans and shitty teammates and it's told from Ramos' pov as he struggles to figure out what Leo's deal is. Bonus fatherly Pep lol.

Fairly sure I rec'd this already but if not, shame on me. Post WC, dealing once again with Leo and Ney at PSG. All from Ney's pov which is a huge fucking mess but he's got a lot to deal with so we can't really blame him lol. Really enjoyed this one, maybe because we know how frustrating Leo can be and we get to experience that along with Neymar haha.

Pedri gets a friend

Players: Pedri and Gavi Words: 700+ Main theme: Bromance It was winter in Barcelona, Pedri was finally getting better from his long injury after the Olympics. Xavi was now the coach, the team was slowly working on getting back to Tiki-Taka style of play for Barça and Pedri was running at la Ciutat Esportiva with his two physios, almost ready to get back to the group. He looked around, and felt kind of lonely being apart from everyone.

Since the summer Pedri had gotten closer to Eric, spending time during the Euros, in the club, Tokyo Olympics, and sometimes giving Pedri a ride home back when he didn’t have his license. They talked quite a lot during trainings and hung out after training at least once a week but even though they were close, out of everyone in the group, Pedri wasn’t his best friend. Pedri was close to Trincão during his first year, but not outside the club hours though. if anyone was his closest friend during his time in Barcelona, it was his brother, Fernando. Not anyone at the club. There were people in the team who seemed to be closer than most, like Ansu and Eric, Frenkie and Memphis, Nico and Gavi, but Pedri did not have a teammate that he felt a strong connection to, even though Eric had become a good friend. Just after the Christmas break, while in the dressing room, Pedri overheard Nico complain that he had to drop off Gavi at La Masia, yet again. Nico was going out on a date and Gavi was making him late. “Hey, Gavi! I can drop you off, if you want” Pedri said without thinking about it much. “Vale, sí, I don’t want to hear this gilipollas complain anymore” responded Gavi, making Pedri chuckle. Nico said “Gracias, Pedri, I’m glad you can be the babysitter tonight”.  Gavi punched Nico’s left arm. 

The tiktokers and fans were waiting outside and they pulled out of Ciutat Esportiva. Pedri stopped to sign some autographs and take pictures. Gavi didn’t particularly like it, all those strangers in his face, but the memory of being a fan was fresh in his mind, so he took the time to lower his window as well and do the same. After a minute they were out of there.

 “Joder, I’m still not too used to that” said Gavi, taking his hand to the back of his neck with an awkward smile. “Yes, it took me a while, because it’s not like it was in Las Palmas. It’s intense here” said Pedri. “Yea, Barca B shit is nowhere near that” Gavi replied. And they spent the 15 minutes from Ciutat Esportiva to La Masia talking about their experiences of going from being virtually unknown to a not having a lot of privacy as a Barca player, they surprised each other on how  similarly they both viewed the whole thing, the awkwardness they felt but also how they both did not care about the fame game at all. Pedri felt like maybe, he hadn’t thought of Gavi as a potencial mate or friend because of how young he was and how intense he was a training but maybe Gavi could be cool to get to know, he thought as he dropped him off and waved good night.

When Pedri got home to Fernando, he asked Pedri how his day at training went. He explained that he was about to join the group trainings, injury was 99% done with, but he was the most excited to tell him that he spent some time with Gavi today. “Gavi, the 17 year old with the undone shoelaces? You think he’s cool?” Fernando said with an incredulous face. “Yea, he seems very down to earth, and kinda mature for his age….I think” Pedri said while raising his shoulders. “Well, que guay, maybe you won’t be Eric’s bitch anymore” said Fernando as he laughed “Oh, shut up!” screamed Pedri.

Just then his phone lite up and made a noise “@pablogavi sent you a message”, Pedri opened his instagram’s DM. “Hey Pedri, Thanks for the ride, bro. Here’s my number, I don’t think you have it, +34***********”Maybe another Nico-substitution is not out of the question for another day, por fa?”

“I think I made a new friend” Pedri said to himself with a grin on his face.

Being with him is easy. The two of you fit like puzzle pieces, carved for each other. He never makes you feel like you are not doing enough, respects your time, cheers you on when work gets hard and always celebrates your wins. Even when the two of you fight the anger rolls off your heart like water off a duck's back. After an argument he brings you into his chest never daring to leave when either of you are angry. He knows love doesn't come easy to you so he is patient. Seeing his eyes follow you carefully whenever he asks you something is one of the things that made you fall for him. You never worry about turning him down, he never takes it wrong. 

“I'll ask again at a later date,” he always says, not letting you dwell on it or worry “Don't worry. I'll always wait for you, love.”

The way his eyes glisten and his voice is calm, the kiss and hug that always follows solidifies that he means it. The butterflies in your stomach on the other hand solidify that next time you might not turn him down. It took Matty five tries to get you to move in with him. He asked you, you turned him down, and he waited, and he would still be  back two months later to ask you again every time. 

Now as you set down the last box in the living room you thank your lucky stars for finding him, for him being so patient, so trusting. You look at him, white t-shirt clinging to his chest with sweat from carrying boxes around all day in the summer heat. His hair is tousled from him pushing it back all day to keep it out of his eyes. Seeing him here, in your shared home makes tears well up in your eyes, for the first time in a very long time you feel like everything is good. And somehow you fall in love with him all over again.

You turn on the record player smiling at Matty,your boyfriend walking towards him swaying your hips to the rhythm until you are safe in his arms. The music plays in the background and the two of you begin to sway to the slow beat of the music. You smile up at him, taking in the way his eyes glisten in the golden light seeping in through the window of your apartment. There is a stray piece of hair hanging from his pushed back hair, making you smile. The moment feels perfect, you let yourself get lost in the way everything feels mundane. Like there is no one else in the world but the two of you on a Tuesday. You rub your hands on his broad shoulders, feeling his muscles tense under your touch. You grin looking in his eyes once more. In your peripheral you see his hand come up to touch your cheek and you flinch.

Your hands fly off his shoulders and in front of your face, the stance of a fighter. You see the confusion in his eyes turn to worry. It's too late, you know it's too late. “Ha-ha got you” you try to joke, lie to him. You always hated lying.

Finals week. Dreaded by every single student. Libraries are packed and practically everyone is crying in the study rooms. I had to schedule a study room 1 month before finals and I still just barely made the cut. Having been studying for the entire week for a physics exam, I had to cancel all plans isolating myself from any social gatherings, including one I had planned since the beginning of the semester. 

Jude has been in my life for the past 4 years of my existence, I never held much attraction to him until the end of high school but I blocked it thinking it was just a bluff and me just thinking about how much I was going to miss him but instead those feelings outweighed the platonic ones. Now, my sophomore year with barely any visits to my hometown, it was saddening that I had to cancel plans due to me being an academic tryhard. 

I finished my last practice exam and glanced at the clock to check the time debating whether to stay and risk the chances or leave now and go back to my noisy apartment. I shut down my laptop and started gathering my belongings, shoving them quickly into my backpack as I could feel my stomach grumble underneath me with hunger because of the lack of food I had the past week. 

I heard my phone ding as soon as I turned it on spotting that Jude had texted me sending my insides to blaze, excitement running through my heart hoping I could catch enough time to talk to him. But before I could read the message, it rang with his name on display. I answered it almost immediately holding it against my ear as I started walking towards the door. 

“Hurry up and get to your apartment.” he sounded annoyed and I furrowed my eyebrows even if he couldn’t see me. I asked what he meant. “Just get here” and hung up the phone. 

I hurried my steps a lot faster than I usually would and arrived at my apartment building in 10 minutes. By my door was Jude, sitting on the floor scrolling through his phone. Hearing footsteps near, he looked up and displayed his friendly smile the second he spotted me at the end of the hallway walking towards him. 

“What are you doing here?” I asked very little surprise in my tone. More just tired than anything, needing to take a 10-hour nap after this week. “Why are you sitting on the floor? Do you know how dirty that is? Get up”

“God you sound like my mother” he rolled his eyes, getting himself up while dusting himself off as I unlocked the door and left it open for him to enter behind me. “I came to surprise you” 

I gave him a blank stare not very amused, my insides were the clear opposite wanting to hug and show any type of physical affection and emotions to the man in front of me. “Why?”

Now he was the one surprised, expecting her to be all excited and jump around, maybe even giving him a kiss. But instead, she stood silent, unamused. “Because I thought you would like me to be here” his voice wandered. “I brought food”

Hearing this made me now excited, smiling like an idiot as I asked “Really?” now ready to jump around.  He just handed me the bag filled with my favorite snacks and food in a separate one. I went through it gasping at each product as I took them out, my heart softened at his thoughtfulness. 

“I love you” I blurted out mid-opening my first snack without much thought until the room turned silent. “Like-”

“Yeah I know,” he said, not really needing much of an explanation thinking she would ever only like him in a friendly way. 

I shoved all the possible snacks I could into my mouth, ensuring I wouldn’t say another word about that conversation as he sneaked a couple of my food into his mouth. 

“Did you not get yourself anything?” I asked a bit worried but still in awe about the amount of food he gave me. He just shook his head, grabbing another bite, not really noticing my worrying gaze until making eye contact with me. 

“Don’t give me that look” he said before taking another bite. I only just looked away hating how just given a glance can make my insides twirl. “Anyways, it’s been a couple of months since we’ve seen each other. You have to have a life by now.”

“Strange way to ask what’s been happening” I commentated as I sat on the stool next to his before answering “School is just all I have right now” shrugging but he gave me a bored look.

“What about that college experience? No parties? Crushes?” He asked, the last one in a teasing manner but I made a disgusted look trying to hide the blush that wanted to disperse. I shook my head to all of them biting the inside of my cheek, leaning back on the stool. “Then you have no excuse to not answer my calls,” he says with narrowed eyes. 

“I’ve been busy with school,” I said, half telling the truth. His eyes lingered on me for a second as silent moments passed, my heart skipped a beat with a sudden change of mind, maybe I should tell him now. I was going to anyways. “Jude?”

He hummed, waiting for my question. Hoping his brain was right where it was leading. 

“Can you quiz me for physics?” My mouth blurted out before my brain could process what to say. Jude lifted his gaze, no longer looking at me saying stupid things to himself. Meanwhile, I was cursing to myself.

“Stop worrying about it so much,” he says, getting out of the stool and heading to my couch. “You’ll do fine. You always do” 

“Fine is not enough,” I said, following him to sit down. I bit my tongue not allowing myself to talk about school anymore. “Have you met anyone yet?”

His face changed at the sudden change of topic, one he had been thinking about to himself for the last couple of months. “No” was a simple answer but it made me smile internally knowing he wasn’t seeing anyone and I wouldn’t be hurt. 

That’s selfish. 

“Huh?” He asked as if he heard me until I realized he did. Because I said that out loud. Very bad habit of mine. He stood back up as I was left sitting, staring up at him“It’s selfish that I’m not with someone?”

“What? Oh no. It’s not selfish. Not at all. I mean it would be selfish of me to want you to be single but if you did have someone, great for you I mean. Not so great for me considering uhh it doesn’t matter. I say things out loud sometimes” I stuttered out as I got myself up, rambling almost spilling my thoughts out in the open. He grew a small smile, one amused because somewhere in that ramble had been a confession. 

He now only stood a couple of feet from me now. “Why do you want me to stay single?” He tested the waters, stepping closer. 

This wasn't the way I planned it. “I can’t say the words Jude” I wanted to go back in time. But he was patient enough to stay a good distance.

“But I think you can. Say it” he whispered, barely audible. My heart pounded against my chest as I looked down to the floor only being able to hang my head low as I whispered. 

“I like you” 

“Again” a step closer. 

“I like you” with a tiny bit more volume.

“Again” step closer.

“I like you” a calmer tone.

“Again” he now stood a few inches away, lifting my chin as my breath turned steady although my heart was doing the complete opposite. His eyes searched my own, near praying to hear her say the words he longed for so long. 

“I li-“ but he didn’t let her finish. Pushing his lips onto her own. I stood shocked for the first second before feeling my body melt into his arms. Our lips moved in sync, almost as if having done this millions of times, but it felt like the first with all the excitement exploding internally. 

We separated, letting in small gasps of air as I looked up at him.

“You have no idea how long I’ve waited for those words”

There is a reason I am putting these two teams up against each other and that is because pretty much the Dallas Cowboys are the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NFL and the Toronto Maple Leafs are the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL.

Admittedly, BOTH of these are usually successful during the regular, but ALWAYS with ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTION somehow fuck up and choke during the playoffs. Plus the media REALLY tries WAY too fuckin' hard to overhype both of these teams if you know what I mean.
