Mer and Avian au but Freelancers as birds! Part two of this post
Wash
Barn owl: mostly cream white feathers with dark gray fading on the tips. Wings are large and powerful, which is good since he likes swimming. Do not be fooled, it takes a lot of effort to keep himself afloat once his wings are wet and they take forever to dry. Often shakes like a cat to get the water off. Also has a fairly long tail, often mistaken for part of his wing. Before his growth spurt, he would trip on his tail a lot.
Has bird-like feet: legs “warp” into the bones of his talons starting around his knees. They’re as thick as his normal legs, just covered in a protective layer. Has five long toes (one sticking from the back of his foot so he can grab fish) with claws at the end.
Has gray eyes that can see in the dark (preferred) but can still enjoy the sun (usually needs protective gear when it’s particularly bright)
Carolina
Peregrine Falcon: Dark grey wings with white strips on her inner feathers. Similarly shaped feet as Wash but with four toes instead of five and with much larger and sharper talons.
Fastest of the flock, but can’t swim for shit. Mainly hunts on land and comes out to the coast to fly with friends and challenge Tex to swimming competitions (she always loses).
Part of her wing was injured in an accident that took York’s eyesight, Maine’s voice, and gave Wash the scar that runs down his face. Must take constant care of her wing or it tightens up and makes it hard to fly and decreases her reaction time.
Currently being courted by York
York
Golden Pheasant: Bright gold wings and tail with red and black accents. His wings aren’t very big, but he has a very long tail that is prettily patterned and takes much care to maintain. His feathers wrap around his shoulders and neck like a scarf and are similarly patterned to his tail.
Can technically fly, but his wings aren’t meant for air time like the others so most of his time is spent on the ground watching. He’s also mostly grounded because of an accident that left him blind in one eye, so his depth perception is shit. This makes it hard to hunt, so he takes to eating more berries, leaves, and leaving traps for prey to fall into.
Is courting Carolina by making her yummy food, building her very nice nests, and helping her take care of her wings.
North
Hummingbird (specifically purple-throated mountain gem): Wings are a metallic deep purple with dark green feathers lining the inner wing. Wings are very flexible and move very fast despite North’s large size.
Chugs nectar on the daily and would probably chug honey down too if it weren’t so thick. Doesn’t mind eating the meat his friends catch, but he prefers sweeter and lighter food.
Actually not that hyper despite the stereotypes about hummingbirds and spends a lot of time napping and relaxing with York on the ground as their friends fly around.
South
Hummingbird (specifically purple-throated mountain gem): Lighter purple wings that shimmer more blue in the sun with yellow-green lining the inside of her wing. Wings work similarly to North’s but she is much faster than he is.
Fits the hyperactive stereotype of hummingbirds but is just as likely to crash after a day spent flying because she loses her energy quickly.
Tries to make up for this by eating a lot of food, including the meats her brother is picky about. Often called a scavenger at heart because of the way she hunches when she’s sitting and the way she chokes down her food.
Connie
Robin: Grey wings that shine orange-red in the sun. One of the smaller birds of the flock, but stays in the middle when it comes to speed. Her legs look similar to Wash and Carolina but hers are grey instead of orange.
Is the most active when the sun’s out and is always trying to get the others to fly/hunt with her. Sings the prettiest out of the flock and can be heard twittering basically all day. If you need to find Connie, just listen for her signature song.
Maine
Vulture (Who was gonna tell me there are so many vultures? Holy heck that’s a lot of species of one bird): Has the biggest fucking wings ever, even when folded in, he has to be careful not to get them caught on anything. They are mostly dark grey, but he has white feathers from his youth that never changed colors.
Maine’s voice is very deep and very rough due to his unique voice box. However, his voice gets fucked up after an accident and can only really communicate in grunts and hisses, and even then those are limited if he doesn’t want to fuck up his voice even more.
It takes a lot of work and energy for him to flap his wings, which means getting in the air is hard, but once he’s up he can glide around for hours at a time without rest. He’s decent at hunting since he can just swoop down and crush his prey under his feet, but he prefers scavenging as has large hoards of preserved meats he’s picked up. He really likes jerky.
Wyoming
Peacock: Wings are very colorful and patterned. Inner wings are white and black stripped and are the colors that are seen when his wings are pulled in. His outer wings are orange and dark grey with a little strip of blue. His tail is obviously the main attraction, long and blue and green with the ends of these holding the eye shaped feathers that entrance and impress.
Can fly, but prefers not to because it messes up his feathers and is kind of clumsy because of his tail. Also very vocal and likes singing with Connie. You can often hear them calling back and forth when Connie is flying and Wyoming is on the ground.
A surprisingly good hunter that likes to play with his food before killing and eating it. As long as he doesn’t get his feathers dirty, there’s no prey that can hide from him for long. It’s for this reason he likes hunting with Florida so much
Florida
Secretary Bird: Light blue-grey feathers on his inner wing with Dark blue-grey feathers on his outer wing. Has a rather large wingspan for someone his size. Has long spindly legs that mimic that of Wash, Carolina, and Connie but much thinner and a light pink color. Also has feathers on the back of his head that spread out like halo.
Likes flying a lot and can be seen souring in patterns similar to a vulture when he spots something he likes/thinks is interesting (very often found circling Wyoming). That being said, he mostly hunts with Wyoming on the ground and they play cat and mouse with their food.
When not flying, can often be found perched next to Wyoming or on top of Maine. He thinks it’s very amusing to stare at people with his big ole’ black eyes that seem to see into your soul. He freaks people out a little bit.

happy birthday, tex avery!
today’s an important day for every cartoon fan. 112 years ago today, tex avery was born! probably one of the biggest contributors to animation, the man responsible for bugs bunny, elmer fudd, daffy duck, droopy, screwy squirrel, chilly willy, wild animation... there’s much to celebrate.
born in texas (hence the nickname, real name frederick), tex arrived in los angeles on january 1st, 1928 to start a new career. nothing much, just menial jobs: working in a warehouse, loading fruits and vegetables at the docks, painting cars, and finally painting animation cels for the oswald cartoons. moving from the short lived winkler studio to the universal studio, he became an animator in 1930.
(courtesy of tom klein.)
perhaps his work at universal spawned the most important event in tex's career. in 1933, he and a couple of his animation buddies were horse-playing. the game: shooting a spitball with a rubber band at the backs of peoples heads, yelling “bulls eye!” if shot successfully. the game evolved from spitballs to paperclips. animator charles hastings was armed with a paperclip and had his sights set on tex. someone yelled “look out, tex!”, and tex’s initial reaction was to turn around. vision in his left eye was gone in an instant. some people attribute the lack of depth perception to tex’s unconventional, warped point of view inserted in his cartoons.
universal was proving to be a lousy job for tex. he himself admitted that he wasn’t much of an animator. “i was never too great an artist. i realized there at lantz’s that most of those fellows could draw rings around me... i thought, brother! why fight it? i’ll never make it! go the other route. and i’m glad i did. my goodness, i’ve enjoyed that a lot more than i would have enjoyed just animating scenes all my life.” he was let go in april 1935 after the quality of his work declined thanks to a lack in interest. two days later, he and his girlfriend (an inker at the studio) got hitched and honeymooned in oregon. they arrived back in hollywood in may, where tex approached leon schlesinger.
to say warner bros was short staffed in terms of directors was an understatement. ben hardaway had just left, and friz freleng and jack king were the only directors there. tex flubbed his way in, citing his experience "'hey, i’m a director'. hell! i was no more a director than nothing, but with my loud mouth, i talked him into it."
(the termite terrace crew in 1935. from left to right: virgil ross, sid sutherland, tex avery, chuck jones, and bob clampett.)
though there were few directors when tex arrived, the staff was beginning to outgrow the studio. tex and his unit (virgil ross, sid sutherland, chuck jones, and bob clampett) moved into a rickety building they unceremoniously dubbed termite terrace as a result of the termite population within the bungalow.
tex’s first directed cartoon was gold diggers of ‘49, where he borrowed friz freleng’s characters of beans, kitty, and porky from the cartoon i haven’t got a hat. while beans was beginning to have his own small series of cartoons, this marks the second ever appearance of porky and is thusly an important occurrence. if tex didn’t use him, who knows what porky’s fate would be? gold diggers beans and porky are in the heart of the gold rush. beans strikes it big (tex’s love of gag shining brilliantly already as beans pulls a slot machine lodged into the side of a mountain) and invites all of his friends to dig for more gold. porky’s bag of gold is taken away from a villain, and he bargains that if beans can get the bag back, he’s allowed to marry his daughter (kitty). beans eagerly accepts and follows the villain. what ensues is an exhilarating gunfight turned car chase, tex’s knack for speed drastically picking up the pace of the cartoon. it’s exhilarating, rushing, and brought a much needed energy to warner bros at the time. perhaps even more amusing than the chase is the payoff itself: porky gets the bag back, which isn’t gold at all, but instead a hearty sandwich.
almost right away, tex rose to the top at the studio. some of his earliest merrie melodies (which had been exclusively reserved for friz freleng prior) include page miss glory and the classic i love to singa, both beautiful cartoons in their own ways. tex now served as the model. his gags were funny, his pace was quick, his cartoons GOOD, friz freleng and eventually frank tashlin adopting the change in pace. jack king, unfortunately, wasn’t faring well with the change, and his slower, duller cartoons stuck out like a sore thumb. he returned to disney in april of 1936.
porky’s duck hunt serves as an especially important cartoon directed by tex, marking a number of firsts. it’s the cartoon debut of daffy (who is unnamed, though model sheets label him as that crazy darn fool duck), and he first time mel blanc voiced porky. porky is also considerably slimmed down. the cartoon is exactly as it sounds: porky embarks on a duck hunt, but a screwy duck prevents him from getting anything accomplished.
the cartoon itself, in comparison to tex’s others, isn’t really that special. a bunch of drunken fish hilariously singing a rendition of “moonlight bay” serves as the highlight. it’s not a bad cartoon at all, i love it a lot and it’s one of my favorites, but it IS rather repetitive, and daffy is pretty stark in personality. 75% of his dialogue is reduced to quacks. but what DOES have personality, which would shape his entire character, is a particular exit animated by bob clampett.
porky fires his gun and strikes daffy, who flops into the water. ecstatic, porky sends his dog after him. all we see is a black blob in the water, and daffy haughtily tosses the unconscious dog on the shore instead of the other way around. flummoxed, porky pulls out some paper, flipping through it and protesting “hey, that wasn’t in the script!” daffy laughs it off. “don’t let it worry ya, skipper. i’m just a crazy, darn fool duck!” with that, he gives his signature hoo-hoo laugh as he literally flips into the horizon, twirling and hopping, clicking his heels, hoo-hooing all the way along. great animation by bob clampett and definitely entertaining, and a scene that would serve as the basis for his trademark laugh and his truly daffy personality (that would begin to die down as early as 1938).
tex made a number of other good cartoons, experimenting with daffy some more and playing with porky a little more until exclusively dedicating his time to merrie melodies in friz freleng’s absence (who was at MGM). the one that truly changed looney tunes was released on july 27th, 1940, titled a wild hare.
bugs bunny had existed before tex touched him, but didn’t at the same time. he was conceived by ben “bugs” hardaway in 1938 with porky’s hare hunt. very similar to porky’s duck hunt, the screwy rabbit taunts porky and prevents him from getting a good shot. the only thing bugs has in common with his prototype self is his species and name. (he wasn’t formally called bugs then, and thanks to a false story by mel blanc where blanc referred to the prototype as “happy rabbit” fans have assumed that was his prototype name. in reality, model sheets and illustrations from picture books around 1938-1939 name him as bugs’ bunny, possessive after ben “bugs” hardaway.) bugs is portrayed as a white rabbit with a hayseed voice and woody woodpecker laugh in hare hunt, not at all the cool new yorker we know and love him as. he reappeared in a few other cartoons, still his hayseed self in hare-um scare-um and a more collected take by chuck jones in cartoons such as elmer’s candid camera and elmer’s pet rabbit. hare-um scare-um turned the previously white rabbit into a gray and white rabbit with yellow gloves.
nevertheless, tex borrowed this strange rabbit and paired him with another character of his by the name of elmer fudd. elmer’s hunting wabbits, but bugs predictably taunts him the entire time and makes his life a living nightmare. the cartoon isn’t much different than the other hunting cartoons: prey drives hunter crazy, and prey ends up winning. it’s really just a glorified porky’s hare hunt. but at the same time, it has a certain charm. this previously unappealing, obnoxious rabbit is now cool, calm, and collected. an era of cartoons dominated by screwballs like daffy is now interrupted by the opposite, a smooth talking rabbit who always wins. bugs was rather temperamental in his early 40s cartoons, much more thin skinned, abrasive, and often a downright bully, but there was still something so different about him that audiences resonated with him regardless. so, while tex isn’t the true father of bugs, he absolutely is at the same time.
many fans believe that tex left warner bros after a dispute with schlesinger pertaining to his cartoon the heckling hare. in the cartoon, bugs (as the title suggests) heckles a dimwitted dog repeatedly. at the end, the two of them end up falling off of a cliff. both bugs and the dog cling to each other, screaming all the way. the scene is LENGTHY, nearing a minute of nonstop screaming. which, of course, is the joke. to see how long the audience can stand it. however, the cartoon cuts to an end rather abruptly. evidently, bugs and the dog were going to stop, with bugs remarking “hold onto your hats, folks, here we go again!” and thusly launching into a second fall. however, the “hold onto your hats, folks!” was a rather crude joke at the time, and thusly that’s assumed how the cut came to be.
story goes that avery left the studio as a result of the censorship, which seems plausible. however, that’s not the case. tex was itching to do a series of live-action shorts, with real, live-action animals talking and cracking jokes with animated mouths. tex wanted to do it, schlesinger didn’t. tex lived out his dream at paramount for a short amount of time, and thankfully for the rest of us got some sense and moved to MGM in september 1941 to make cartoons once more.
i’ve gone on way longer than i intended, and there’s still so much to be said about tex! all of tex’s best cartoons were at MGM, no doubt. he invented droopy, red, the wolf... red hot riding hood is considered one of the greatest cartoons of all time and spawned a number of sequels starring red and the wolf. all of the great qualities of tex’s cartoons from warner bros exploded at MGM. the fourth wall breaking, the gags, the speed... he also made the iconic “tex avery take”. limbs flying off characters and super big eye bulges... they’re absolutely fantastic. there’s so much to say about tex that can’t be articulated! he’s one of my favorite directors for sure and such an important figure in animation. he deserves all the praise and respect he gets and more.
happy birthday, tex!
#long post#analysis#this doesn’t do him justice you need to watch his cartoons yourself! esp his mgm stuff#avery

Bobby Womack
Robert Dwayne Womack (/ˈwoʊmæk/; March 4, 1944 – June 27, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter and musician, and producer. Since the early 1960s, when he started his career as the lead singer of his family musical group the Valentinos and as Sam Cooke's backing guitarist, Womack's career spanned more than 60 years, during which he played in the styles of R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country.
Womack was a prolific songwriter who wrote and originally recorded the Rolling Stones' first UK No. 1 hit, "It's All Over Now" and New Birth's "I Can Understand It". As a singer he is most notable for the hits "Lookin' For a Love", "That's The Way I Feel About Cha", "Woman's Gotta Have It", "Harry Hippie", "Across 110th Street", and his 1980s hits "If You Think You're Lonely Now" and "I Wish He Didn't Trust Me So Much".
Early life
Born in Cleveland's Fairfax neighborhood, near East 85th Street and Quincy Avenue, to Naomi Womack and Friendly Womack, Bobby was the third of five brothers. Friendly Jr. and Curtis were the older brothers, Harry and Cecil were his younger brothers. They all grew up in the Cleveland slums, so poor that the family would fish pig snouts out of the local supermarket's trash. He had to share a bed with his brothers. His mother told him he could "sing his way out of the ghetto." Bobby recalls:
We came up very poor. My kids have had a much better life than I'd ever thought of livin'
And:
The neighborhood was so ghetto that we didn't bother the rats and they didn't bother us.
Raised Baptist, their mother played the organ for the church choir, and their father was a steelworker, part-time minister, and musician who played the guitar and also sang gospel. Their father repeatedly ordered his sons to not touch his guitar while he was away, yet all five brothers regularly played it while their father was at work. One night, eight-year-old Bobby broke a guitar string, then tried to replace the string with a shoelace. After Friendly deduced that Bobby (who was missing a shoelace) had broken the string, he offered Bobby the chance to play the guitar for him in lieu of a whipping.
Man, I played Andres Segovia, Elmore James and BB King. Even with one string short, I played classical music, soul, country and western, and rock’n’roll. I played my ass off. Every lick I knew and then some I didn’t. When I finished, Dad was in shock. He couldn’t believe how good I had got and he’d been real selfish holding on to that guitar for himself.
Soon afterwards, Friendly bought guitars for all five of his sons. Because Bobby was left-handed, he flipped his guitar upside-down to play, not knowing that the guitar could have been restrung to accommodate a left-handed player.
Career beginnings
By the mid-1950s, 10-year-old Bobby was touring with his brothers on the midwest gospel circuit as The Womack Brothers, along with Naomi on organ and Friendly Sr. on guitar. In 1954, under the moniker Curtis Womack and the Womack Brothers, the group issued the Pennant single, "Buffalo Bill". More records followed.
Sam Cooke, the lead singer of The Soul Stirrers, first saw the group performing in the mid-1950s. He became their mentor and helped them go on tour. They went on national tours with The Staple Singers. Even though Curtis often sang lead, Bobby was allowed to sing alongside him showcasing his gruff baritone vocals in contrast to his older brother's smoother tenor. During performances, Bobby would sometimes imitate the role of a preacher, which later became his nickname. At just 16, Bobby dropped out of high school.
At the beginning of the 1960s, Cooke formed SAR Records and signed the quintet to the label in 1961, where they released a handful of gospel singles. Then, Cooke changed their name to the Valentinos, relocated them to Los Angeles and convinced them to transition from gospel music to secular soul-and pop-influenced sound. Cooke produced and arranged the group's first hit single, "Lookin' for a Love", which was a pop version of the gospel song, "Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray", they had recorded earlier. The song became an R&B hit and helped land the group an opening spot for James Brown's tour. The group's next hit came in 1964 with the country-tinged "It's All Over Now", co-composed by Bobby. Their version was rising on the charts when The Rolling Stones covered it.
Womack was also a member of Cooke's band, touring and recording with him from 1961. The Valentinos' career was left shaky after Sam Cooke was shot and killed in a Los Angeles motel. Devastated by the news, the brothers disbanded and SAR Records folded. Womack continued to work as a session musician. Between 1965 and 1968, he toured and recorded with Ray Charles.
1967–1972: Early solo career
Circa 1965, Womack relocated to Memphis where he worked at Chips Moman's American Studios. He played guitar on recordings by Joe Tex and the Box Tops. Womack played guitar on several of Aretha Franklin's albums, including Lady Soul, but not on the hit song "Chain of Fools", as erroneously reported. His work as a songwriter caught the eye of music executives after Wilson Pickett took a liking to some of Womack's songs and insisted on recording them. Among the songs were "I'm a Midnight Mover" and "I'm in Love".
In 1968, Bobby signed with Minit Records and recorded his first solo album, Fly Me to the Moon, where he scored his first major hit with a cover of The Mamas & the Papas' "California Dreamin'". In 1969, Womack forged a partnership with Gábor Szabó and with Szabó, penned the instrumental "Breezin'", later a hit for George Benson. Womack also worked with rock musicians Sly and the Family Stone and Janis Joplin, contributing vocals and guitar work on the Family Stone's accomplished album There's a Riot Goin' On, and penning the ballad "Trust Me", for Joplin on her album Pearl. In fact, Womack was one of the last people to see Joplin alive, having visited her hours before she died at the Landmark Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
After two more albums with Minit, Bobby switched labels, signing with United Artists where he changed his attire and his musical direction with the album Communication. The album bolstered his first top 40 hit, "That's the Way I Feel About Cha", which peaked at number two R&B and number twenty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1972.
1972–1985: Solo success
Following Communication, Womack's profile was raised with two more albums, released in 1972. The first was Understanding, noted for the track "I Can Understand It", later covered by the funk band New Birth and a three-sibling lineup of Bobby's old group, the Valentinos, and two hit singles, "Woman's Gotta Have It" and "Harry Hippie". The latter song was written for Womack by Jim Ford in a country version, which Womack re-arranged in an R&B version. "Harry Hippie" later became Womack's first single to be certified gold. "Woman's Gotta Have It" became Womack's first single to hit number one on the R&B charts.
Another hit album released after Understanding was the soundtrack to the blaxploitation film Across 110th Street. The title track became popular during its initial 1972 release and later would be played during the opening and closing scenes of the 1997 film, Jackie Brown. In 1973, Womack released another hit album, Facts of Life, and had a top 40 hit with "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," an older song Sam Cooke had done years before.
In 1974, Womack released his most successful single during this period with a remake of his first hit single, "Lookin' for a Love". His solo version of the song became even more successful than the original with the Valentinos, becoming his second number one hit on the R&B chart and peaking at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his only hit to reach that high on the pop chart. The song was featured on the album Lookin' for a Love Again and featured the minor charted "You're Welcome, Stop on By", later covered by Rufus & Chaka Khan. Womack's career began stalling after Womack received the news of his brother Harry's death. Womack continued to record albums with United Artists through 1975 and 1976 but with less success than previous albums. In 1975, Womack collaborated with Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood, on Wood's second solo album, Now Look.
Womack languished with his own recordings during the late 1970s but continued to be a frequent collaborator with other artists, most notably Wilton Felder of the Crusaders. In 1980, Wilton Felder released on MCA Records, the album Inherit The Wind, featuring Bobby Womack, that became a jazz-funk classic, notably in the UK – Robbie Vincent at Radio London included the track as one of his all-time winners in October 1982. In 1981, Womack signed with Beverly Glen Records and had his first R&B top 10 single in five years – since the 1976 single "Daylight" – with "If You Think You're Lonely Now" that peaked at number three on the R&B singles chart. His accompanying album The Poet reached number one on the R&B album charts and is now seen as the high point of his long career, bringing him wider acclaim not only in the U.S. but also in Europe. He had two more R&B top 10 singles during the 1980s including the Patti LaBelle duet, "Love Has Finally Come at Last", and "I Wish He Didn't Trust Me So Much". He had a hit featuring on the Wilton Felder single "(No Matter How High I Get) I'll Still Be Looking Up to You".
1985–2014: Later career
Womack's solo career started to slow down after 1985, in part due to Womack's issues with drug addiction. After sobering up in the mid-1990s, he released his twentieth studio album, Resurrection on his close friend's Ronnie Wood's label. The album included session background work from admiring associates that included Rod Stewart, Ronald Isley, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts. His remaining brothers from the Valentinos, Curtis, Friendly and Cecil, featured as background singers. Two singles from the album – a duet with Ronald Isley, "Tryin' Not To Break Down", and "Forever Love" – appeared on the Billboard R&B chart, but although the album contained two of Womack's best latter songs, "Cousin Henry" and "Don't Break Your Promise (Too Soon)", the album received a mixed critical reception. A gospel album, Back to My Roots, appeared at the end of the decade, but Womack largely concentrated on session and guest work for the next ten years.
He is the featured vocalist on June Yamagishi's My Pleasure album, on "Inherit The Wind", a track credited to Wilton Felder, and with Allen Toussaint on "Sputin", and he contributed vocals to Rae & Christian's version of "Wake Up Everybody". Other collaborations included "You Got What It Takes" with Diane Schuur, "Ain't Nothing Like The Lovin' We Got" with Shirley Brown, "Break the Chain" with Andrew Love & Wayne Jackson and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" with Jeanie Tracy.
In 1989, Womack sang on Todd Rundgren's "For the Want of a Nail" on the album Nearly Human. In 1998, he performed George Gershwin's "Summertime" with The Roots for the Red Hot Organization's compilation album Red Hot + Rhapsody, a tribute to Gershwin, which raised money for various charities devoted to increasing AIDS awareness and fighting the disease.
In 2010, Womack contributed lyrics and sang on "Stylo" alongside Mos Def, the first single from the third Gorillaz album Plastic Beach. Womack was told to sing whatever was on his mind during the recording of "Stylo". "I was in there for an hour going crazy about love and politics, getting it off my chest," said Womack. He also provided vocals on the song "Cloud of Unknowing" in addition to the song "Bobby in Phoenix" on their December 2010 release The Fall.
A new album was released on June 12, 2012 by XL Recordings of London. The album, The Bravest Man in the Universe was produced by Damon Albarn and Richard Russell. The first Song "Please Forgive My Heart" was offered as a free download on XL Recordings' official website on March 8, 2012. Contact Music reported that Womack was working on a blues album called Living in the House of Blues, featuring collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and Rod Stewart. In an interview with Uncut, Womack revealed that the follow-up album would now be called The Best Is Yet To Come and feature Teena Marie and Ronnie Isley.
Womack duets with Van Morrison on "Some Peace of Mind", from Morrison's 1991 album, Hymns to the Silence, on Morrison's album Duets: Re-working the Catalogue released in 2015. Womack collaborated with Rudimental on "New Day", a song taken from their second studio album, We the Generation. He had expressed an interest in working with the group and they had exchanged ideas. Following Womack's death, his wife sent the group an a cappella vocal which he had recorded for them, and they pieced together the track.
Songwriting Legacy
Throughout his long recording career, many of Womack's songs have been covered by other artists. In addition to the famous Rolling Stones' version of "It's All Over Now", it has charted also with versions by Patti Drew in 1966 and as a duet between Womack and Bill Withers in 1975. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s other artists regularly recorded his songs. They included Ella Washington and Baby Washington, who recorded "I Can't Afford To Lose Him" in 1968, Jerry Butler, who released "Yes My Goodness Yes" in 1968, Margie Joseph, who issued "What You Gonna Do", and Roosevelt Grier, who had an R&B success with "People Make The World". One of his most famous songs, "Trust Me", was recorded by Janis Joplin and later by Winfield Parker amongst others. The 1960s and 1970s were especially profitable years for Womack's songwriting, either solo efforts or in partnership with the likes of Darryl Carter and Jim Ford. Whilst working as a session musician with Wilson Pickett he regularly contributed songs, including the original version of "I'm In Love", later covered by Aretha Franklin. Another Atlantic Records artist, Percy Sledge, issued "Baby Help Me" in 1967. The J. Geils Band covered "Lookin' for a Love", released on several albums, including the live album Blow Your Face Out.
In the following decade, Millie Jackson with "Put Something Down On It" , Kokomo and New Birth with "I Can Understand It", Ronnie Wood with "I Got A Feeling", and George Benson with the instrumental "Breezin", recorded versions of Womack songs. Lou Donaldson, the American jazz saxophonist, reinterpreted "You're Welcome To Stop On By" in 1974. The British singer Rod Stewart used the distinctive string arrangement from "Put Something Down On It" for his massive hit "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy". Other significant artists to record Bobby Womack songs include: Georgie Fame and Kelly Rowland with "Daylight", O V Wright's cover of "That's The Way I Feel About You" and reggae acts Dennis Alcapone, who issued a distinctive version of "Harry Hippy" entitled "Sorry Harry", and Triston Palma, who issued "Love Has Finally Come At Last" in 1984.
Jodeci's K-Ci Hailey, a notable admirer of Womack's work, covered "If You Think You're Lonely Now" in 1994. Hailey again covered Womack in 2006 with his rendition of "A Woman's Gotta Have It". The song is referenced in Mariah Carey's song "We Belong Together", a number one hit in June 2005. Carey sings "I can't sleep at night / When you are on my mind / Bobby Womack's on the radio / Singing to me: 'If you think you're lonely now.'" In 2007, R&B singer Jaheim interpolated the song as "Lonely" on his album "The Making of a Man". Neo soul singer Calvin Richardson also covered many of Womack's tunes. "That's the Way I Feel About Cha" was covered by the late R&B musician Gerald Levert and fellow singer Mary J. Blige on Levert's 1998 album Love & Consequences.
Film director Quentin Tarantino used "Across 110th Street" (which, in a different version, had been the title song of the 1972 movie) in the opening and closing sequences of his 1997 film Jackie Brown. His work has been used in several other popular films, including Meet the Parents (2000), Ali (2001) and American Gangster (2007). A 2003 Saab commercial used Womack's interpretation of "California Dreamin." In 2005, "Across 110th Street" appeared in the hit Activision video game True Crime: New York City.
On the 1994 release 1-800-NEW-FUNK, Nona Gaye covered "Woman's Gotta Have It", produced by Prince and backed by his band, New Power Generation.
During the spring of 1997, R&B singer Rome covered the original song from his self-titled debut album.
In 2008, Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child recorded her own version of his R&B hit "Daylight" with Travis McCoy of the Gym Class Heroes, which became a hit in the UK Singles Chart, where it was previously released as a single by Womack in 1976.
In 2009, Calvin Richardson was chosen to record a tribute album to Womack to coincide with Womack's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Grammy-nominated album was entitled Facts of Life: The Soul of Bobby Womack. It reached No. 30 on the US R&B chart.
In early 2012, Womack's career was the subject of the documentary show Unsung on TV One.
Personal life
Family life
In March 1965, just three months after Sam Cooke's death, 21-year-old Womack married Cooke's widow, Barbara Campbell, ten years his senior. The marriage was considered a scandal by some in the music business, and Womack found himself ostracized in the soul-music world. Womack's brothers turned against him, as did his audiences, and he was assaulted by Barbara's brother. Womack claimed he initially went to Barbara's side to console her following Cooke's death for fear that, if she were left alone, she would "do something crazy."
In 1970, Bobby and Barbara divorced after she found out that he had an affair with his 18-year-old stepdaughter Linda, daughter of Sam Cooke and Barbara. In the ensuing tussle, Barbara fired a gun at her husband. Vincent Womack, his son with Barbara, committed suicide in 1986, at age 21.
In 1974, Harry, Bobby's brother, was fatally stabbed in the neck with a steak knife by his jealous girlfriend.
Womack's second marriage (1976) was to Regina Banks with whom he had two sons, Truth Bobby and Bobby Truth, and a daughter, Gina. In 1978, Truth Bobby died aged four months old, and Womack turned again to cocaine. The marriage also ended in divorce.
From his relationship with Jody Laba, he fathered two sons, Cory and Jordan.
Linda, Sam Cooke and Barbara Campbell's daughter, later married Cecil, Bobby's younger brother. Bobby and Linda collaborated on the hit song "Woman's Gotta Have It" and he applied background vocals for Cecil and Linda as the pair teamed up as Womack & Womack. The song "Baby I'm Scared of You" by Womack & Womack, from their album Love Wars, was released as a single in the US and UK in 1983.
Drug addiction and health issues
Womack opened up about his frequent drug use in his memoirs, Midnight Mover. Womack said he began using cocaine sometime in the late 1960s. He had become close friends with Sly Stone, and was an enthusiastic participant in Stone’s infamous drug binges. Womack told Rolling Stone in 1984:
"I was really off into the drugs. Blowing as much coke as I could blow. And drinking. And smoking weed and taking pills. Doing that all day, staying up seven, eight days. Me and Sly [Stone] were running partners."
His cocaine use turned into an addiction by the late 1970s. Womack partially blamed his habit for his son Truth's death. Throughout most of the 1980s, Womack struggled with drug addiction. In the early 1980s his career slowed down partially due to his drug usage. At the end of the 1980s, he went into a rehabilitation center to get over his cocaine addiction, which he said he conquered.
Womack survived prostate cancer. A series of health problems would follow, including diabetes, pneumonia, colon cancer and the early signs of Alzheimer's disease.
Womack developed diabetes in his later years. It was revealed in March that Womack was diagnosed with colon cancer after Bootsy Collins reported it on his Facebook page. Womack announced afterwards that he was to undergo cancer surgery. On May 24, 2012, it was announced that Womack's surgery to remove a tumor from his colon was successful and he was declared cancer free. On January 1, 2013, Womack admitted that he struggled to remember his songs and other people's names, and later he was diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer's disease.
Death
Womack died at his home in Tarzana, California at the age of 70 on June 27, 2014. He was cremated, and his ashes were interred at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California, in The Great Mausoleum, Memorial Terrace, Memorial Terrace Columbarium, Map #ELVA0 (Elevation A), Niche 38260 in an unmarked niche.

So my brain wouldn’t stop thinking about a RWBY/RvB crossover so here’s what I have so far.
Team CRML (Caramel)
Carolina
Semblance: Speed. Unlike Ruby, her speed is more ground focused, it’s not good at launching into the air, but she is highly skilled in using it to get behind opponents.
Weapon: Bladed tonfa (Ruddy Brothers) / Brass knuckles (Betula Sisters) The tonfa’s blades can fold in so she can use them as regular tonfa, or as practice for her team. A small caliber pistol is built into both. The knuckles are fairly short, and used to punish close range combatants that get greedy with their attacks.
Aura: Cyan
Other: Can take on the colours of people she’s touched, but only for a moment.
Reggie
Semblance: Time manipulation. The furthest he’s managed to jump back is 30 minutes, but it takes a huge amount of energy to pull off. Prefers to jump 5 or 10 minutes back. Just enough to turn the tide of battle.
Weapon: Spear with built in blow-gun/rifle. (Loire’s Sight) Fairly fragile, so he deflects blows with armored gauntlets he wears.
Aura: White
Other: Occasionally can have a copy of himself show up for a split second due to his time distortion. The copy can’t do anything aside from confuse people, but it’s worth noting.
Maine
Semblance: Insight. When he touches an opponent, he can see the places where the person was injured, the longer he’s in contact, the further back he’s able to see. Uses this to focus on weak-points.
Weapon: A collapsible claymore with a built in double barrel shotgun. (Will Breaker) and his plain old fists.
Aura: White-Gold
Other: From an incident as a child, he can’t speak normally, but there are a few people who can understand him.
Leonard
Semblance: Fractal. Under extreme stress, he casts off fragments of himself which can be used to distract, and if the fragment is large enough it can attack on it’s own. A last resort, as this takes much time to recover from.
Weapon: Sniper Rifle, that has a blade running along the top that doubles as a sight for the gun. (Watchful Fool). Not very talented with it, but his team makes up for it.
Aura: Pale Blue
Other: Vanishes for weeks at a time, before coming back. Easily angered.
Team DWNY (Downy):
Delta
Semblance: Comprehension. Near perfect understanding of fighting styles, but finds them difficult to copy. Uses this to figure out where fighters are likely to place their feet and where they move next.
Weapon: Hidden blades, and throwing axes. (Mindful Mob) The axes double as 22. caliber semi-automatic pistols.
Aura: Green
Other: Comes off as cold, but is a leader who takes great care of his team.
Washington
Semblance: Blood/Survival. Can control it, but it can’t still be in someones body, it has to have already been shed. Better at controlling his own, and as a side effect, he bleeds very heavily when wounded. During tournaments, his aura drains more quickly than most, but dropping into the red is when things get interesting. Most local matches allow him to continue fighting for a few minutes more, just to see what happens.
Weapon: Two large knives with dust charged ammunition,(Unexpected Scrappers), Has many smaller blades for close combat, or if he needs his semblance.
Aura: Dark grey
Other: Wears a helmet with a half-visor to protect from head wounds, as they bleed so much that it makes him violently ill. In the infirmary often due to blood-loss, and broken bones. Able to take huge amounts of punishment before he’s forced to give up.
North
Semblance: Calm. Can generate a bubble that is soothing, used to help his team re-focus during fights.
Weapon: Long range hunting rifle, can shoot small grenades and produce temporary shields. (Testudo’s Grace)
Aura: Violet
Other: Was intending to be teamed up with his twin, but ran into Delta first. Cooks as a side hobby.
York
Semblance: Gorgon. Can stun opponents for a moment by opening his bad eye. Unfortunately, this causes him to be temporarily blinded.
Weapon: Bladed whip, that can solidify into a Jian, for close range. Small caliber rounds are fired from the pommel. (Darkness Leading.)
Aura: Tan
Other: Tends to work on crowd control, good at scattering teams. Relies on team to guide him when he uses his semblance.
That’s all I’ve got for now, I’d love to hear your ideas for teams and such!
EDIT: More under the cut!
Team ETTC (Etc...I wasn’t sure what to do here heh)
Epsilon
Semblance: Control. Can force you to do what he wants. It’s limited, however, he can only make one move for you. Ideally, he’d use it in a pinch to throw someone off balance or have them fire on their own team, but he just likes fucking with people. Limit resets every 30 minutes.
Weapon: Rifle that can convert into a shield. (Battersea’s Crosshair) Can only operate as one of its parts. If it’s being used as a shield it can’t shoot.
Aura: Powder Blue
Other: Snarky and crude, he tends to rely strongly on his team to make up for his short comings. Loves and hates meeting new people, craves attention.
Tex
Semblance: Invisibility. Pretty much what it says on the tin, is knocked out of it if she’s hit, or if she uses it for more than half an hour.
Weapon: Garrote (Asphyxia’s Clutches), Machete with a large caliber handgun built into it’s hilt. (Arcadia’s Talon) The blade must fold down before she can fire, this is one of her few tells in combat.
Aura: Very deep Purple.
Other: Quiet, acts as a foil to Epsilon’s personality. Not the best team player, but she could be worse.
Tucker
Semblance: Tune In. Naturally draws attention to himself. Great at parties, and making time for your sniper/assassin friends to get the job done.
Weapon: To no one’s surprise, an energy sword. (Tesla’s Pedigree.) Can fire small energy balls at blindingly high speeds.
Aura: Aqua/Cyan/Whatever he’s calling it currently.
Other: Has been learning the ropes of teamwork and is starting to really come into his own. Tends to bottle his emotions until he explodes. Laughs as a nervous habit.
Caboose
Semblance: Stupefy. Somehow makes anything he comes into contact with a total mess. Can’t control it’s effects, resulting in much chaos for his team.
Weapon: While he doesn’t like to fight, he has a rather large battle ax that fires tear gas canisters. (Lacrima’s Lament)
Aura: Royal Blue
Other: Really likes Epsilon. Gets everyone’s names mixed up. Goes into the wrong classes constantly.

(felixmcshouty here from the main blog) i showed you mine, you show me yours. gimme felix
hoo boi okay here we go
First impression: lmao oh god. So I liked him from the start, became completely sold on him after the “I am fucking awesome” line. I thought he was funny and cute (LMAO) and he fit that “snarky cynical asshole with a heart of gold” trope and that’s my jam. He was pretty much my favorite character since Tex had left the show
Impression now: BOY DID I FEEL LIKE A FOOL WHEN HE TURNED OUT TO BE A FAKE BITCH LMAO but it didn’t stop me liking him… if anything it only made me like him more cause you know I’m a slut for villains ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do think he’s a well-written character, and I really liked how even after the Reveal, his personality doesn’t actually change that much? Like, he’s still an attention-seeking little shit and he still has the same sense of humor, but we also see a much Darker side of him. It’s scary because he’s still able to be genuinely charming so easily, but he can turn that off and become ruthless and vicious so quickly it’s just really cool tbh. Love Felix as a villain
Favorite moment: The entirety of the season 13 opener?? I LOVE that episode Felix and Locus are characterized so well in it and I love how you can understand so much about them just by their movements hh it;s so good. Also any scene where Felix uses a knife cause I uuh have a thing for knives gfdkjg
Idea for a story: I don’t know if I have a story idea for him so much as I have ideas for how his and Locus’ story should have ended, but we’ve talked about that a lot already
Unpopular opinion: I’m actually not sure what the popular opinions on Felix are? I guess if anything, I’m really not a fan of the whole “Felix was manipulating and controlling Locus the whooole time poor Locus” which we’ve also talked about lmao cause like. No sorry I don’t buy it. I don’t buy that Felix had that much control over Locus and more importantly Locus was 100% aware that he was taking part in genocide and he didn’t care. Felix never hid what they were doing from him, Locus knew exactly what was going on and shamelessly slaughtered millions so uum. Look I’m not trying to criticize people who empathize with and see themselves in Locus, but I’m just saying… let’s really look at what was going on here? Locus knew what he was doing and he knew why he was doing it, he and Felix were always entirely on the same page
Favorite relationship: The obvious answer here is Locus. Love me some shitty mercs whether platonic or romantic
Favorite headcanon: Don’t know if it’s a headcanon really, but I always liked the idea that rather than Felix’s biggest fear being Locus turning on him, his biggest fear is being completely alone. Because Felix thrives on attention. Without an audience, he can’t be Felix

'The only thing Tasmania has over the Gold Coast is joblessness'
Gold Coast chairman Tony Cochrane has scoffed at suggestions his club could be relocated, describing Tasmania as a "basket state" and premier Will Hodgman as a comedian.
Responding to Hodgman's claim that Tasmania was "a hotspot destination for investment and the nation's premier tourism state", Cochrane said: "Oh come on, the only thing Tasmania has over the Gold Coast is unemployment. They talk about it as a basket state not a growth state.

"That guy is a riot — that Will Whatever-his-name-is," retorted Cochrane. "He should be appearing on Saturday Night Live. I thought April Fool's Day was last week."
While the Tasmanian Government has new five-year deals in place with Hawthorn and North Melbourne, sponsoring a taxpayer-funded two-team seven-game-a-season model until the end of 2021, and failed last year to push for a side in the AFLW, Hodgman told News Limited on Sunday his state could sustain its own team and would step in should the Gold Coast fail.

Cochrane's Gold Coast has struggled on and off the field and sits well behind the younger GWS in terms of sponsorship and boasts almost 8000 fewer members.
"If you look at where Brisbane and the Suns are sitting on the ladder you might say we're struggling," said Cochrane, "but football in this state is in great shape. And I don't think there's anyone in Australia who would say Tasmania's in better shape than Queensland."
Cochrane pointed to the jump in football participation, which he said had provided the biggest growth numbers across Australia with 280,000 registered players in Queensland, 87,000 of those women, and on the Gold Coast 10,000 registered in the under 15 ranks alone.
"You're looking at the opportunities in a state with well beyond five million people compared with a state of 700,000 where most of the population is either retired or unemployed.
"People say we're still being funded by the AFL. If we can't raise the money, how the hell would it work economically in Tasmania? The AFL, I can tell you, would have given this zero consideration.
"The Queensland Government and the Gold Coast City Council have over $200 million invested in our stadium. I suppose Will's going to write that cheque to move us is he? This is a nonsense story."
Gold Coast entered its round three clash against Hawthorn as significant underdogs after a week of on and off-field scrutiny following the 102-point loss to the Giants before upsetting the Hawks by 86 points. Disenchanted former captain Gary Ablett was among the best performers with both Suns players and supporters showing some contempt for the defecting Jaeger O'Meara.
"It's been tough," conceded Cochrane, "and it's still tough. But I love a challenge and if you think it's something I plan to fail on, then you don't know me. I don't do abdication. It's not in my dictionary.
"People like to kick us when we are down and say we are without a soul. Believe me, we are not soulless. You come up here and meet our medical people and our welfare people and all of our staff. And our leadership group were challenged and they responded strongly behind the scenes last week.
"We showed against Hawthorn what we'd hoped to show from the start of the season and for some reason we couldn't.
"We will shape the eight. We might not make the eight but will shape it."

Studying is Serious Business: The Oddball Humor of Golden Boy
Life is Study.
The world is one big learning experience, but moments of leisure are precious and it's no fun to learn that a given anime doesn't jive with your tastes after you've already spent dedicated your free time to it. Let “Cruising the Crunchy-Catalog” be your helpful tutor. Each week we provide additional info and cultural context for a series in Crunchyroll's library of titles to help anime fans make informed decisions about which series they'd like to try out and which ones they'd prefer to give a pass.
What's Golden Boy?
Golden Boy is a series of six original animation videos published from 1995 – 1996 with direction by Hiroyuki Kitakubo (Blood: The Last Vampire) and animation production by A.P.P.P. (Robot Carnival). The series is based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuya Egawa, which was serialized from 1992 – 1998 in Shueisha's Super Jump seinen manga magazine. Crunchyroll describes the story of Golden Boy as follows:
Kintaro Oe was at the top of his class at the Tokyo University Law School, one of the most prestigious in the entire world. Mastering the entire curriculum easily, he vanished just before graduation. Now he bikes across Japan on a quest to learn what's most important in life: the lessons that can't be studied in a classroom.
Described by the narration as “extremely healthy, both in mind and body”, Kintaro Oe is always eager to learn and also looking for love in all the wrong places, a perilous combination that results in some of the most over-the-top physical comedy in the history of Japanese animation. From software companies to animation studios and beyond, Kintaro is looking to try it all.
The Lecher and the Fool.
Despite his incredible natural talents and extreme work ethic, Kintaro is his own worst enemy, because every time he sees a beautiful woman, he practically transforms into the wolf from Tex Avery's Red Hot Riding Hood cartoon: a leering, gibbering, over-sexed nerd. As a result, Golden Boy is full of fan service and sexual humor, so this particular anime is definitely “not kid's stuff”, if you'll pardon a reference to an old ADV advertisement.
Kintaro's rampaging horniness might prove a turn off for some viwers, but it's hard to be offended with a character whose dirtiness of mind is so evenly matched with his purity of heart. There's an essential guilelessness to Kintaro's buffoonery, so that even when he abases himself or starts hugging toilets, the humor in Golden Boy never truly comes across as mean-spirited or creepy.
The Influence of Tora-san and the Showa Sensibility.
With its shiftless but secretly brilliant protagonist, Golden Boy is reminiscent of Tora-san (known in Japan as Otoko wa Tsurai yo, or “It's tough to be a man”), a long-running series of films that spans 48 movies from 1969 - 1995 and that stars Kiyoshi Atsumi as Tora-san, the titular wandering meddler with a heart of gold.
Like the Tora-san films, each episode of Golden Boy has a “madonna” – a beautiful lady whom the hero wants to romance but who is somehow unattainable – and each episode concludes with Kintaro solving the madonna's problems but curtailing his own romantic efforts in the process. Just like the lead character in Tora-san, in Golden Boy Kintaro is invariably off on his next adventure before anyone can properly thank him.
As a result, even though the series is ostensibly set in the early Nineties, the mood and atmosphere that it evokes is more of a throw-back to the golden years of the Showa Era. During his travels, Kintaro tries his hand at several old-fashioned occupations, such as creating handmade udon noodles or doing menial labor at a temple.
Even the conflicts of each Golden Boy episode (run-ins with the Yakuza, butting heads with corrupt and powerful politicians, racing through a mountain pass to prove who is the fastest, etc.) are evocative of a simpler time, one that isn't dominated by the rapid information exchange brought about by the rise of smart phones and the Internet.
Stay Golden, (Pony) Boy.
Crunchyroll currently streams Golden Boy in the United States and Canada. The series is available in the original Japanese language with English subtitles and also dubbed in English. Golden Boy is currently released on DVD in North America by Discotek Media. It was previously licensed by ADV Films and Media Blasters.
An exaggerated, over-the-top comedy with a very warm-hearted philosophy at its core, Golden Boy is a throwback to an earlier era of seinen anime. If you're in the mood for some sexy shenanigans, some crude jokes, and some riotous action sequences, and if the series is available in your area, please consider giving Golden Boy a try.
Special thanks go out to everyone who voted in the Twitter poll choosing Golden Boy as this week's entry for "Cruising the Crunchy-Catalog". Is there a series in Crunchyroll's catalog that you think needs some more love and attention? Please send in your suggestions via e-mail to [email protected] or post a Tweet to @gooberzilla. Your pick could inspire the next installment of “Cruising the Crunchy-Catalog”!

Update on successful launch
I’m awake again. My thoughts have been on expansion of sources. Sitting here relishing in the success of our first news story and the wide appraise it has already received in 2 emails and a ecstatic phone call. Caller Gordon remarks “Finally a news station getting back to basics and showing the world all you need is a little elbow grease and some chutzpah” Now, I must admit, everything is not perfect. Lets get that out of the way. Our tiddlywinks set ablaze with contempt from time to time just like Mr Average Joe except in this business... You’ll have to use more than white out to survive the fallout. An email came in around 9:30 p.m. was the specific time. And it also happened to be the same time in our time zone the pacific standard. Hell of a time zone if you ask me and maybe that’s why you get in touch with demons like this. Gwen Armani of Fresno California, which is not incredibly far from my neck of the woods so I’ve been watching our security cams and have stayed in the Amazing News Goretex lined tactical flak jackets that we have on stock for situations like these. Gwen writes, “Subject: You Shall Rue The Day You Crashed into the News Room. Body: My name is Gwen Armani don’t worry about remembering it, I’m not one for basic pleasantries and you won’t be alive long enough for it to be worthwhile memorizing. I’m Traveling down the coast to put a stop to your madness you call reporting. I have in my possession. One black ski mask, 6 shotgun slugs a Benelli M2 turkey shotgun, now I know what you’re thinking so i’ll explain. My AR-15 is at Claire’s Jewelry in the mall getting bedazzled along the barrel. I didn’t have time to wait for Tina, the 80 year old sales associate that emanated the smell of a half gallon of milk on its way out, to wheeze on the hot glue hoping her flem coated airways give off the wind speed of a category 5 tornado but barely ejaculating enough breath to blow out an easy out birthday candle. I’m sure you’ve been awaiting my message as it was so obvious what went wrong on your broadcast. HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY RELEASE INFORMATION SUGGESTING A PARROT IS ANYWHERE NEAR THE MOST COMMON ANSWER YOU GET WHEN ASKING SOMEONE WHAT THEIR FAVORITE ANIMAL IS? That is bullshit of the tenth degree, there are generations of ridiculous statements that have come before this farce but this is the last fucking straw. I used to work at NASA. I know the codes to the satellites still. I’ve been watching you go about your day in a devil may care attitude as i played Beautiful Disaster by 311 on repeat and prepared my attack on absurd fools such as yourself who try to play with the United States Media System. You don’t do that. That’s like going into your mom’s room at night as a kid because you’re scared of the boogeyman then copping a feel of her bosom. Evil must be stopped and you’re the first on my list, I’m coming for you Jack even if it’s the last thing I do. I’m about an hour out of Fresno and I’m headed southbound fast. No one is around for miles I can tell. just me my gear, my purple Fiat 500 and my IPhone 5C in lime green as I prepare to send this message and return my full attention to the road and your imminent destruction you autistic Walter Cronkite wannabe. Get ready to die I’m sure this has been a long time coming.
Sincerely, Gwen Armani
PS It is now around 9:30p.m. specifically and this is somewhat of an embarrassment but I have to ask for your help I don’t know who else to turn to. As I went to press send and deliver the message a blinding light came from far off in the distance and it got brighter and brighter as we came closer. I then realized I had ventured quite literally onto the train tracks, I guess there’s no way i could have figuratively gone onto the train tracks and leaped to safety as my one true love. my purple fiat 500 burst into a ball of flames and distorted metal. I don’t know what real life situation that would apply to figuratively. Maybe going to the Dentist. I have also realized why there were no cars driving next to me because I have emerged from the debacle in the middle of a chaparral area of California where they have not developed any portion of society. My only means of conveyance is to follow the railroad tracks by foot and hope I only made one wrong turn while sending that email. I’m really in a bind here you know how it is, I mean I was just about to kill you, now the situation I’m in right now is not fair whatsoever, I would like to remind you that I wholeheartedly believe you sir should be killed and left on your beat as a message for any other wayward newsies out to shake things up a bit. But please, send me a reply email, maybe you could send an Uber out here, I’m sure if you find someone with enough compassion like yourself to drive for Uber they will gladly save the day. Well this is Gwen signing off, please respond as soon as possible. I’m out here cold and alone. My only food is an opened nature valley bar with one of the bars missing and the celebratory airplane bottle of Poland’s finest Belvedere I was planning to pour when I had finished murdering you. Which I still plan on doing. Don’t worry. Please begin looking for the Uber driver with the heart of gold immediately I need transportation and and empathetic companion stat.
So back to the present moment, I read this and begin frantically searching my contacts for any well meaning friends who would be interested in providing a pro bono 10 hour Uber ride with a potential murderer so she could get back to her business and finish the hit she had scheduled but then it dawned on me the lack of people I know who actually drive Uber and Francisco was already busy because he got a call from a senior citizen in Maryland who said his soup was too hot and he felt like people were stealing from him and he needed to see a kind face. Not an Uber call but Francisco cant resist a good deed. That man is a saint in a bright red Prius. Then I fell asleep abruptly, I dreamed I was lost in the woods and no one was coming to save me, which woke me up and reminded me of Gwen, now doing the right thing by trying to help a fellow human in need doesn’t discount the homicidal tendencies which leads me to put on my Gore-tex safety suit. Now you get an idea of the target placed on my head daily. It has been every day a new death threat comes in and now I’m supposed to just shove that to the dark corners of my distressed mind and report the damn news? These are the trying times that every reporter has faced. Hopefully i get another email from Gwen or an associate of hers that knew of our relations because i would hate for her to have died by the train tracks on my account. I’d probably have to wait weeks for any confirmation on that, She seemed pretty forward about her plans and her cry for help the least she could do is send a death notice over right before her eternal slumber sets in. It seems like the moral of this story is this, You want to play with the pros you gotta always keep the contact of multiple benevolent Uber drivers in your roladex. The thing that disturbs me the most about today is that I wasn’t able to lend a hand to one of our listeners in need. the streets may be tough and the stories never ending but the one thing the don’t tell you is what hurts the most. And that is the never ending reminder of your failures.

The article has been viewed more than 27,000 times since Wednesday. It is not the first time this year Richmond supporters have been given false hope, with a similar prank played on April Fool’s Day, when an article on Martin’s 2015 re-signing was widely shared online, becoming one of The Age‘s most read stories of the day.
Unfortunately for Richmond supporters, Martin remains out of contract and has put off talks with the club until the end of the 2017 season.

Essendon and North Melbourne have been heavily linked to the 25-year-old, whose stunning form this season has seen him surge into Brownlow Medal contention and significantly raised his market value.
Essendon is rumoured to be offering Martin an incredible $1.6 million a season, but Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said Richmond was not worried about retaining Martin.
“We’re very confident of our position,” he told AFL 360. “Dustin is having a fine season [and] the team has had a strong start to the year, so there’s no distraction.
“It’s fair to say the offer is a very strong one. It’s reflective of the position he has at our club and the game – and credit to him, too.”
Besides financial compensation, many pundits believe Martin’s future will be decided by the on-field performance of the Tigers, who missed the top eight last year and were eliminated in the first week of finals from 2013 to 2015.
Former Collingwood champion Dane Swan, a good friend of Martin’s, said a successful 2017 was key for Richmond to re-sign the star midfielder.
“Speaking to Dusty, I know that’s something that drives him, not just the big contract which he’s [going to] get no matter what, but playing finals,” Swan told Fox Sports News.
“There’s light at the end of the tunnel with Richmond … and I think that’s going to go a long way to helping him stay there.”
This gives Richmond supporters another reason to be buoyed by their season to date, which sees them sitting 4th on the ladder heading into round 13 and in a good position to play finals.
Hopefully for Tigers’ fans, this means the next article they read on Dustin Martin re-signing is not another cruel prank, but finally a cause for celebration signalling their superstar has committed to the club for 2018 and beyond.

Bobby Womack
Robert Dwayne "Bobby" Womack (/ˈwoʊmæk/; March 4, 1944 – June 27, 2014) was an American singer-songwriter and musician, and producer.
