Posted @withregram • @homsweethom Mmm today felt like a good day to re-share this soup 🍲 What’s one piece of career advice you wish you could give to your younger self? 👉🏽 Here are a few things I wish I could tell my 23 year old self when she was thinking about starting her own business: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1: It’s called “following your dreams” because you need to be the one who takes action (even if that’s tiny actions slowly over time). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2: There will never be the “perfect time” to start something or take a risk. You will stumble but you are smart, capable, and resourceful and you will fucking figure it out as you go. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3: Learn to cook and eat at more soup lol. It’s cheap and healthy, and you need to stop spending $15 to get pad thai delivered to your apartment because you need to start watching your spending because you’re 23 years old and about to quit your office job and have no steady income anymore but it’s okay because let me say it again, you are smart and capable and resourceful, and you are going to make it work. Little do you know that you’ll actually THRIVE without the safety net of a paycheck, and it’ll kick your butt into creativity and motivation overdrive. M for Meatless. 

Reducing your meat consumption is one of the most important contributions we can do as individuals. Beef, lamb, and farmed fish have the biggest environmental impacts as far as resource consumption and pollution. Organic, local, and wild caught / wild game are better options, but there are also a ton of delicious alternatives to meat. For instance, this maple soy glazed tofu (thanks Bon Appetit) over forbidden rice was hella tasty!

Take action: Try doing Meatless Mondays, or subbing in things like chickpeas, veggie sausages, and mushrooms as often as possible. Going full on vegetarian and vegan is ideal, but you can ease into it by avoiding meat during the week or committing to lower impact meats like sustainably sourced seafood. Currently I’ve been transitioning to vegetarianism and only eating meat (mostly wild caught salmon) on occasions.
