So our community made a Meal Train page for us now that we’re home in the wake of my husband’s surgery, and the meal train is just 1 meal/day but luckily for us most of the people on the list are moms who have forgotten what it’s like to feed 2 people and are sending us big trays to feed 6 so we are all covered and in fact I’m running low on fridge space now.

#a few years ago my health insurance had this thing where you'd get points for watching videos about the benefits of drinking water or w/e#got a big TV‚ a Samsung tablet‚ and a Fitbit from that one#taco bell once had one where you'd get ''game pieces'' for purchases (or by request via mail)#and i probably got $200 worth of free food‚ gift cards‚ and merch#right now I'm gaming the fuck out of my employer's similar program#we get points for participating in this message board where we post about mindfulness‚ career goals etc#i have enough for a $100 gift card so far. and only like 1% of the whole company are participating at all

Poor woman who came in after me at Macca's didn't know how to work the kiosk. She goes to the counter to order, receptionist tells her to use the kiosk. She asks if the kiosk takes cash, doesn't get an answer. I go over and tell her that when it's time to pay she has to press the X on the card reader and press the option to pay at the counter on the kiosk. She thanks me and I walk off. She thanks me again when I walk out with our food.
Listen. Personally my asocial arse loves the kiosk. I love that I can get what I want without my stutter acting up and making a fool of me.
But not everyone loves the kiosk and I hate the lack of accessibility for people who can't or won't use one. What if someone is visually impaired? What about someone who can't reach the screen, like someone with dwarfism? What about people with mobility disabilities, like those in wheelchairs? What about people who are technologically inept? The fact you can't order at the counter at all is bollocks for accessibility. They should both be options.
#blu a fuse#btw if you're getting boycotted stuff like i just did. do what i do and use prepaid gift cards#but make sure to use cards bought before the boycott#if you're like me you have a stole stash of them#that way the food is already paid for and they actually have a net loss during the boycott since they still have to buy ingredients#without having a profit come in#their sale numbers won't decrease but their profits sure will#and you basically get food at THEIR expense
