There are moments that the words don’t reach

He thinks there is going to be no possible way to say this, to explain the way he was tearing their family apart. The way that his actions had affected each and every one of them. He wets his lips and his hands clench in his lap, knuckles white against the normal olive of his skin.  “Ang we need to talk.” He starts, and looks up at his daughter and feels the guilt hit him like a train, he hadn’t felt it quite as much as he should before. They had tried. Eliza had given him a million second chances, he didn’t deserve a single one. He coudn’t fix what he’d broken, and he knew that when she walked away that it was the end, there had been a silent agreement, papers on his desk the next day. Now he had to break it to the kids, he wouldn’t let Betsey do it, she didn’t deserve to tell her kids that their family was falling apart, no that burden belonged to him alone. 

There is a suffering too terrible to name.
