there was a little teaser at the end that implied there'll be a sequel event, though we don't really know anything beyond that! I do think it's likely we'll get the other half of the cast in it, even if it's just wishful thinking on my part. 🤞🤞 NIGHTMARE SUITS FOR EVERYONE!!!!

as far as I know there's been no confirmation on whether it's going to be next year's Halloween event or a separate thing (the snow makes me think it'll be more Christmas-themed, or otherwise more related to the plot of the original movie) so. we're probably going to have to wait quite a while before we find out anything solid. :') they really do love just dropping these things on us and then watching us go absolutely wild with speculation while they watch like

Y'know what, I think maybe I don't need any more Murderbot books. I think maybe ending things here is fucking perfect and as much as I love Wells's writing I'm genuinely not sure it can get better for me.

Like, so much of the books are about MB learning how to be a person, about becoming okay with being a complete individual with everything it entails. The first thing it does once it's actually allowed to decide on its own is it runs away from it all (admittedly to go on a mission to confirm some things about its past, because it genuinely just wants to be *good*). It shoves all its emotions away as much as it's able to. Then shit happens, and it makes its first friends, makes decisions based on these friendships, goes through a lot of emotionally intense situations...

And we get to this point here. MB having zero doubts about going with ART says a lot about its relationship with ART, but it also says a lot about its relationship with its humans - it knows that wherever it goes, when it comes back, the humans will still be there. Its humans actively acknowledge its struggles with being a now-free SecUnit and MB is willing to entertain the discussions to an extent and share information about its deeply personal experiences. Hell, System Collapse ends with MB admitting it might be somewhat broken, but that's okay as long as it can keep doing its job, and agreeing to basically do counselling - this is the guy what would rewatch its favourite TV show again and again in order to avoid acknowledging it even had Emotions a couple books back.

Reading this, I know that MB will be okay. It has hopes and goals and genuinely believes in itself and it has an amazing support system that its willing to lean on for the first time in its life. I'm convinced it'll go on to do great things with ART. And that's really the only thing I need to know.

also pls they way he started listing out cxs' personal details of that magnitude to HIS FACE like what???

honestly i would've punched him and then called up the police if i were cxs in that moment

also, i've seen a lot of ppl calling live action lu guang rude/snobby to cxs, but like...i've always seen lu guang as the person to act stoic to people he doesn't know, and eventually warms up to them later on when he gets to know them better. so i think that he just acts like that just bc he doesnt rly know cxs yet. or maybe that's just me?

and i wonder who LG's Teacher was. and like how they died too...

off-topic but lg's introduction scene was so funny to me like bro was just standing there like 🧍‍♂️

and cxs being shorter than lg is just so WRONG imo

and, to compare donghua cxs to live action cxs, donghua cxs is more like the type who acts silly, yes, but it's more like he knows when he can act silly, and when to act serious. you know? but in the live action, it's more that cxs is... Just silly. Or maybe that's just me?

BUT! I love how qiao ling still has her pink bunny phone case! i loved that detail sm!

and i loved how accurate the set for the photo studio was, the design for it is really good, like the whole place feels like it belongs to a messy teenage boy. i also loved how they added small things here and there to give it the lived-in feel.

and i liked the scene in ep 3 where LG was eating with ql's parents, and how taken aback he kinda looked when her parents were like "we are a family now, just treat this place as your home from now on" like ahh my BABYYY

also the basketball scene in ep 3 where cxs scooted closer to lg with lg scooting away from him, that felt pretty accurate to donghua-them imo!

i'm slightly annoyed with the black hair for LG but honestly, it's been growing on me actually!

anyways, donghua cxs and live action cxs are kind of...very different. i am intrigued to see how the rest of the live action will play out. so far i have very mixed feelings (most of the first episode was a mess imo), but it's not the worst live action adaptation i've seen. like it's not exactly the same as the donghua, but it's still not, like, horrendous, you know? Like it's honestly kind of decent and it seems to have potential, so we'll see how the rest goes.

new scene, inspired by this art, which set me off on another daydream. this is recollection, not writing:

I'm starting to imagine more and more scenes that don't fit exactly into the outline I have, which is fun because i think the story is developing and getting better because of it. I don't know how it's gonna turn out, or if I'll even use everything. But I'm having a good time, and I like where it's going.

this iteration of megumi is really interesting to play with. it's like the most extreme version of everything that makes him him and how he confronts it when those things are baked even deeper into his dna
